A great hotel with very helpful people working there ! Prefect location. Small. Intimate. Clean. Safe.
Overview
This boutique hotel is in a neoclassical building with marble and iron-wrought balconies, ancient stone-lined walls, and a rooftop view of the Acropolis that all give a historical feel to the NLH Monastiraki's 36 clean and modern rooms. Tourist attractions like the Acropolis and Monastiraki Square are just a stone's throw away, while those looking to immerse themselves in the neighborhood can head to the nearby Central Municipal Market or explore Athinas Street.
Kimkim's Take

Pros
The family loft suite, premium suite, and grand loft suite are all appropriate for families and can sleep up to five people. The premium suite is a great option for those with accessibility needs, as these rooms have been fixed to accommodate those in wheelchairs. No room in the NLH Monastiraki is the same, and the variety of room types here means that there's something for everyone.
- The NLH Monastiraki is in a central location with more than just views of the Acropolis and other monuments; they're all within walking distance as well.
- All of the rooms are unique, as they follow the restored building's quirks and original plans, which speaks to the overall organic approach that the hotel takes of renovating and restoring rather than demolishing and rebuilding.
- The hotel staff is responsive, welcoming, and accommodating, as they offer a mix of both Greek and standard hotel hospitality that makes guests feel taken care of in a deeper way.
- The rooftop offers a direct view of the Acropolis and is open all day for those who want to work or relax under the rays of that particular Mediterranean light.
- The historical building captures the old European charm with its various details rendered in iron, marble, and ancient stone.
- The hotel's location on the busy Athinas Street in the heart of the vibrant Psyrri neighborhood means that there are some noise issues, although the building's old windows have been replaced with more soundproof ones.
- There's no restaurant or kitchen available for hotel guests, but the surrounding neighborhood has a large variety of food and drink options.
Authenticity
The NLH Monastiraki is located in an 1833 neoclassical building that was once home to a tailor and fabric company. The history of this building has been retained, as seen in its exposed stone walls and flourishes of marble and iron. No two rooms are alike in the NLH Monastiraki, which follows the original layout of the building rather than trying to transform it into something else. All of this makes the NLH Monastiraki feel organic and authentic, as it's a place that marries old-world charm and history with modern comfort.Location
One doesn't get much more central than the NLH Monastiraki. Located on Athinas Street just a few blocks before it ends at Monastiraki Square, this hotel is just a 15-minute walk to the Acropolis and Acropolis Museum, as well as Syntagma Square. Join the hustle and bustle of locals and tourists alike as soon as you walk out. Get to the winding streets of Plaka within 10 minutes, or in the same amount of time, you can grab the metro at Monastiraki Station to head to your destination.Rooms & Bathrooms
This boutique hotel holds 36 rooms, which fall into 12 different categories such as cozy (which refers to the lack of view, not the size), standard double, suites, and even two-story lofts. The rooms are clean and simple in that non-descript modern hotel style that makes them feel like they could be anywhere. However, some feature interesting details, such as exposed ancient stone walls that situate them more squarely in Greece.
Other Highlights
The rooftop bar is open all day to both guests and the public and offers an unobstructed, direct view of the Acropolis. Plus, you know, the rest of the city. Spend the day up there working and relaxing, or head up at sunset to catch views of the Greek sky and skyline. The staff is another highlight thanks to their mix of typical hotel-style hospitality plus that which is specific to Greek culture, which makes it feel like guests are really taken care of here.Traveler Reviews

Our first room happened to be in a part of the hotel that is adjacent to a nightclub that was open until 0400. Needless to say we had a sleepless night. We were changed to another room for the following night.

Our first hotel in Greece. We were moved here to be closer to the Acropolis and I was glad for that convenience, but we lost our breakfast included perk. The area was sketchy...much like downtown San Fransisco...lots of homeless. Bars around are loud and business are hopping early so that made it hard to sleep. But thats downtown living. All that said...the room was nice and fit us all comfortably. We loved the roof top bar with a view of the Acropolis.

We had the grand loft balcony suite which has two levels with a bed/bath on each, which worked for our family. Hotel is in a great location, with a short walk to all the main attractions. Room was quiet considering the hotel is on a main Athens street.

This is a very nice modern hotel, well situated near the old town plaza and acropolis. Everything was great except that there was apparently a new night spot that was playing booking musing until 4am. We aren’t night life people so this was not great. But the hotel was very clean and breakfast was also good.

Overall this hotel was good in terms of the room size and also the size of the bathroom. The area of its location did not appear to be the best. The hotel door was locked at all times and only one person sat at the reception. Did not get time to taste their breakfast as we had an early morning flight. Staff was friendly. Someone was playing loud music all night. Perhaps passing cars that came and stood in front of the hotel. Not sure.
