Kimkim's Take

Pros
  • Enjoy an exceptional location on the sea cliffs near Punta Negra, south of Palma, and away from the noise. The hotel connects directly to a coastal walk that takes you to the sea and a small pebbly beach.
  • There's no bad choice regarding rooms here, as the lowest tier is a deluxe room, and all have elegant furnishings and private balconies or terraces.
  • You can upgrade to rooms with sofas, multiple bedrooms, and/or private pools or hot tubs.
  • The on-site restaurant has a seasonal and local menu that looks amazing, which isn't surprising as it's a Michelin restaurant. You can also enjoy afternoon tea in the elegant dining room.
  • It would be challenging to feel stressed here, as there are so many options for relaxation, including a large outdoor pool, a giant outdoor Jacuzzi tub, and a huge spa with treatments, saunas, hot and cold pools, and a natural saltwater pool.
  • Families and kids will appreciate the little details, like a goodie bag at check-in and an area called the Explorers Club with daily activities and a child-friendly pool.
Cons
  • The hotel was built in 2002 and renovated in 2013, so some of the decor feels a little old-fashioned.
  • There's only one restaurant, which is delicious but quite expensive as a Michelin-star eatery. And with its location, you'll need a car or private transfer to get to nearby restaurants.

Additional Notes From Ash

I've never been in a St. Regis hotel, and since kimkim doesn't prioritize large hotel brands, this was a new experience for me! But this location makes our list because it's a kid-friendly option right on the water and away from the busy cities. As a luxury accommodation, it certainly offers an upscale choice, but it also embraces its picture-perfect location and has one of Europe's largest spas right at the hotel. The outdoor Jacuzzi tub (more like its own outdoor pool) is huge and where I'd spend most of my time!

Authenticity

The St. Regis Mardavall Mallorca Resort is a relatively new building constructed in 2002 along the sea cliffs of the island's southwestern peninsula. But though you won't be on a historic property, the hotel does an excellent job maintaining Mallorca's heritage as a place to relax and indulge. Plus, with a location right on the sea, much of the property creates spaces where you can truly enjoy the island's natural environment.

Location

This posh resort sits on an expansive property, delivering a quiet stay and direct access to the coast on a scenic cove. You'll have plenty to keep you entertained at the hotel, but with a rental car or private transfer, you can also explore the surrounding area. The Catedral de Mallorca in Palma is about a 20-minute drive, the scenic Playa del Mago is 15 minutes away, and the hiking area at Cala en Basset is about 40 minutes.

Rooms & Bathrooms

All 125 of the hotel's rooms have an elegant, upscale design and private balconies, many with sea views. And since the hotel spans four buildings with terracotta architectural charm, your patio feels quite regal. All rooms are spacious, with big, modern bathrooms, seating areas, desks, and/or a dining table. Families can book units with sofa beds or multiple bedrooms, and some upgraded options include perks like private pools or hot tubs.

Other Highlights

This luxury hotel offers several amenities, including a Michelin-star restaurant, Es Fum, with elegant indoor/outdoor dining and local, seasonal food. You can relax in the Arabella Spa, one of Europe's largest hotel spas, with treatments, several pools, a sauna, an Egyptian brine bath, a 24/7 gym, and more. Besides the spa's indoor saltwater pool, there's also a large outdoor pool, a massive outdoor Jacuzzi pool, and a kids' pool in the hotel's "Explorers Club." Kids receive their own explorers' gift bags at check-in and can use them at the club for cooking, crafts, science experiments, and more.
