  • The hotel doesn't have a gym or a spa.

Authenticity

Villas Lirio, established in 2008, is a boutique hotel that embraces its Costa Rican roots to provide an authentic experience for guests. The hotel's rustic, traditional style is reflected in its decor, featuring artwork from local Costa Rican artists in all rooms. This commitment to local culture extends to its restaurant, which offers traditional dishes.

Location

Nestled in Manuel Antonio, Villas Lirio is conveniently within walking distance of numerous shops and eateries. The entrance and hotel grounds sit off the main road, so although you'll be central, you can still feel hidden in the jungle. Plan on a 6-minute drive to Espadilla Beach and about 10 minutes to the Manuel Antonio National Park entrance.

Rooms & Bathrooms

Villas Lirio offers boutique-style rooms with warm, wooden decor and works from local Costa Rican artists. The hotel provides various room options, all with air-conditioning, ceiling fans, desks, and pops of color. The Double rooms offer one or two queen beds and a balcony or terrace overlooking the hotel gardens. If you opt for one bed, you'll get a bit more space and a seating area. For a total upgrade, grab the spacious suite with antique furnishing, a full kitchen, a living and dining area, a king bed, and a furnished terrace.

Wildlife

The urban setting of the hotel limits wildlife viewing opportunities compared to more rural hotels, but you can still expect to see a few Costa Rican classics, such as toucans, red macaws, and capuchin monkeys, with travelers having the best luck spotting the wildlife from the pool area.

Amenities

The hotel features two heated pools: a smaller, secluded pool surrounded by lush vegetation and a larger pool near the restaurant and bar. Travelers have given the hotel high marks for cleanliness, and the walled-in compound is very safe, with security and a gated entrance. There's an elevator that services all three floors of the hotel for guests with limited mobility.

Family-Friendliness

Children of all ages are welcome, and families have enjoyed their stay at the hotel, especially having two pools and a game room for kids to enjoy. The hotel has rooms with two beds, capable of comfortably hosting parents with two kids, but larger families will need to book multiple rooms.

Other Highlights

Spend an afternoon relaxing and playing games in the hotel's game room, equipped with a pool table, table tennis, foosball, and a poker table. When ready to explore the area, hop on the shuttle service to Manuel Antonio National Park. For meals, you're able to stay on the property, with the hotel's restaurant serving traditional Costa Rican and international dishes and providing a tropical ambience with wildlife views. The restaurant's bar is open all day, serving up a medley of coffee, beer, wine, and cocktails.

Good pool surrounded by palms. Our accommodation was a huge apartment on upper floor but we didn't use the dining area or kitchen. Hotel a bit dated with lots of mismatched decor/ornaments. Quirky. Lots of steps everywhere. Staff a bit unapproachable and unhelpful. Restaurant/bar a bit messy and staff appeared particularly unprofessional. Prefer staff who don't sit around on the bar counter area singing along to the piped music, or who clear tables with a lollipop stuck in their mouths. 😯 Read more

Lirio is like at the midpoint between Manuel Antonio National Park and Quepos. Quepos is the town next to the boat harbor and feels like a legit Costa Rican town. The restaurants and inns towards Manuel Antonio all feel like overpriced tourist traps. As for the hotel itself, I thought the “towel card” was strange. It’s a laminated card that says if you lose the card, you’ll be charged $20. I never used the pool, but it did look nice. The room was very clean, and the housekeeping came daily.... Read more

It’s a laminated card that says if you lose the card, you’ll be charged $20. I never used the pool, but it did look nice. The room was very clean, and the housekeeping came daily. The bed felt old and was made of springs. I appreciated that they had a restaurant since I arrived late in the evening, I was able to eat dinner and stroll back to my room. The wifi doesn’t cover all rooms. I was in room 303, and I had to sit next to the window with my iPhone in order to get signal. Forget about cellular; even with full bars, you don’t get squat. I like that they let me park my locally-rented moped in the garage for free.
