Two weeks in Nepal - Looking for a short trek and Chitwan National Park Visit

Group of 2 looking to visit Nepal in October 2016

“Hi! My friend and me are gonna stay in Nepal for approximately two weeks in October, we would some suggestion on what to visit and which is the best route to follow.
We would like to trek and also see either cultural and natural aspects of Nepal.
We'd love to visit cities such Pokhara and Ghandruk beyond obviously Kathmandu.
Poon Hill trek seemed to be a good one, but maybe it's a bit short.
Annapurna is good too, but maybe it's too long, if we wanna have time to visit other places, such as Chitwan Natural Park.
We planned to trek for 8-10 days more or less, so we were wandering if is it a good or bad idea to complete just the final part of annapurna circuit taking an internal flight (from Jomson to Pokhara, or from Pokhara to Jomson? I don't know).
For what concerns sleeping, we'd like to stay in lodges/teahouses but eventually it's not a problem to do camping for a while.
As you can see we're a bit confused, hope you can help us! :)”

Joost

I think this trek may work for you. It can be made a few days longer as well.

If you are interested in us putting everything together for you I'd be happy to connect you to one of our local experts. They can work out all the details for you, based on your input. Once you are happy with the plan you can securely book through our site.

Look forward to hear from you.

Traveler

Hi Joost, thank you for your answer, i had seen Khopra Danda trek before but I thought it was too short, but if you say it can be done in a few more days I think it's a good solution! Also, we would appreciate to be helped with our plan, thank you very much!

Joost

The nice thing about Khopra Danda is that is a new trek, a lot less trodden than the Annapurna Circuit. And you still get to see the famous views on Poon Hill.

You can extend the trek to about 8 days. For the rest of your time you can either add in Chitwan, and/or some other activities like white water rafting.

Let me know your thoughts, and I will bring in one of our local experts who can help you get this all sorted out and booked.

Best,
Joost

Joost

BTW, I should add that the views from Khopra Danda are probably even better than Poon Hill.

Traveler

Hi Joost, thank you for advice. Khopra Danda seems very good, but this trek is still a bit too short for us. We thought about it and we'd like to spend most of the time trekking instead of visiting Chitwan and the south.
In your opinion is it possible to trek from Nayapul to Annapurna base camp and, on the way back, go up to Khopra Danda ridge? How long would it take?
Thank you again

Joost

Let me check that. Makes sense to maximize your trekking days.

Joost

I think this makes sense. If you are up for it I will bring one of our local Nepal based experts into the conversation. They can work out the details with you , and then you can book your trip here on kimkim with them. Let me know if this sounds good and I'll go ahead and locate one of our experts for you

Ngima

Traveler

Hi Ngima, very nice to meet you!
I inform you that we're gonna arrive in Kathmandu on the 9th of October (noon), and leave on the 24th evening, so we're staying in Nepal for 16 days and 15 nights!
Joost and me were wondering if is it possible to trek to Poon Hill and Kopra Danda, on the way back from Annapurna bc, without visiting Chitwan. What do you think about it?

Ngima

Thank you very much for your reply mail. I have noted your trip dates and your requirements. I would like to inform you that after doing ABC, you can either visit Ghorepani OR Khopra Danda because of your limited time frame. ABC with Khopra Danda is a bit rushing due to tight time schedule. However, you can complete this trip within the stipulated time frame. There should be no problem with ABC + Ghorepani Poonhill Trek however.

I hope you will be clear with both programs in my next messages (for your better readability and clarity).

Best regards,

Ngima.

Traveler

Hi guys, and thank you Ndima for your plans.
We pleasently noticed there's time to visit to Pokhara, because we'd love to see it, but we also noticed there's no trace of Ghandruk, and that's a pity.
We know we can't see everyting, so these days we're thinking about it in order to take a decision!

Joost

I am pretty sure that it will be possible to include Ghandruk if it's important to you. Let us know and we can adjust the itinerary, or you can simply discuss with your guide when you are there.
Best,
Joost

Ngima

Thank you for your reply to our proposal with your thoughts. I am sorry that we could not include Ghandruk in the trek route due to your limited time frame. It can be added in the above itinerary of ABC + Ghorepani trek but it will need an additional day in the trip. You can do this in below optional ways.

Option #1 : You can increase your trip days in Nepal to 16 nts/ 17 days and add one trek day with visit to Ghandruk in above proposed itinerary.

Option #2 : You can start trek on the same day you fly to Pokhara and do the sightseeing of Pokhara valley after your return from trek. This option will also have an additional trek days and entire program duration will also remained unchanged (i.e. 15 nts/16 days.)

Both of the above options will give you time to trek from Chomrong to Ghandruk and trek to Tadapani next day. Kindly do let us know which option will suit you the best so that we can work out on program and cost revision for you.

Looking forward to hear from you.

Best wishes,

Ngima.
