Here are 5 places for WiFi in Pokhara, Nepal’s second biggest city and major traveler hub, based on our experience being here with the kimkim team on a quick business trip.

First of all, like anywhere in Nepal, expect WiFi to cut in and out. That said here are a few places that offer relatively reliable WiFi and have a pleasant setting.

#1 Byanjan

Nice restaurant / coffeeshop with a great rooftop patio, overlooking the lake. We were here early, so the kitchen wasn’t open yet, but the Lavazza espresso was good.

#3 The Pavilions Himalayas

Amazing resort 5 miles / 8 kilometers out of town between rice paddies, with great Wifi. The reasons to visit this unique place most definitely are not limited to internet connectivity.

WiFi quality: We didn’t sample the WiFi here, but based on the quality of this resort, we have no reason to doubt that it is better than at the other places we tested.

#4 Pokhara airport lounge

Pokhara airport has a surprisingly nice airport lounge offering free WiFi and descend club sandwiches and Lassi, among others. This airport handily beats KTM for cleanliness and general pleasantness, although admittedly that’s a low bar to beat.

#5 Various lodges along the Annapurna Panorama Trail

We logged on to various networks in lodges along the lower Annapurna trails, including Ghorepani, Khopra Danda and Tatopani. While we were able to read some slack messages, and chat with some kimkim travelers, the connections were quite choppy. While it's amazing that WiFi is even an option in remote lodges at 3,600m above sea level, we'd advise travelers not to promise their boss that they will be online 24/7 during their trek. And you should probably be thankful for that since there are better things to focus on than on your screen!
