We spent two great weeks on our trip, one in the Atacama Desert in Chile and one in Uyuni, Bolivia. Our guides in Chile, Lorena and JD, were so knowledgeable and fun. William, our driver, was very kind and patient. Our guide Jhonny and our drivers Carlos and Iván in Bolivia were equally as wonderful. We felt so well cared for during the entire time. Our guides and drivers even prepared delicious breakfasts and lunches for us while we were on the road. All we had to do was sit back, relax, and have fun! We didn't always sit back and relax; sometimes we did some hiking, too. We felt the whole trip was very successful. Thank you to Lorena at Kimkim for setting everything up for us and allowing us not to have to worry about anything. I was nervous about crossing the Bolivian border, but since we had prepared so thoroughly beforehand, it wasn't difficult at all. If you're an American, fill out paperwork online at Bolivian website and have it printed along with the USD cash to buy the VISA. I highly recommend this trip. So beautiful!

Our stay at the hotel in San Pedro de Atacama was mostly pleasant. While they occasionally had issues with hot water, they worked hard to resolve it. The restaurant was excellent, and the staff was very kind. The laundry service was a big plus as well.

Discovering the Salt Flats of Uyuni was a magical experience. The drivers made it fun with creative photography, and despite initial reluctance, we all participated and ended up with some fantastic photos.

The Stargazing Tour was an unexpected delight. JP gave a great presentation before the tour, and his wife Valeria was very knowledgeable during the telescope session. It exceeded our expectations. It was a very pleasant surprise that it was so interesting.

Wildlife Photo Safari

The Wildlife Photo Safari was an incredible experience, especially thanks to our guide JP. We even managed to see a puma, which was thrilling. JP was very knowledgeable and made the whole safari worthwhile.

Enjoyed Lorena’s knowledge of the history and current affairs in Chile. Driver William was a great help too.

Rapa Nui was everything and more than expected. Guides were good and gave good information. Numbers in the groups were not too large.
Atacama Desert trips were generally good. Some of the guides were better than others. Phillipe on the Geyser trip was exceptional.
I thought the flamingo portion of the trip to Red Rocks should be put in with the trip to the salt flats and swimming day as it makes the day very long and does not add to the Red Rock portion.
The Valley of the Moon tour was excellent as it gave a totally different perspective to the concept of desert.
I cannot thank the Kim Kim travel staff who helped change the itinerary after my husband got ill - combination of cold and high elevation. They were there for me to help get him to a lower elevation which is what we needed to do.
The only negative was the hotel in Santiago - it met the needs of sleeping but it was really very basic.

This hotel had a very relaxed feeling despite people coming an going at all hours. Room was good size and the bathroom was spacious enough for two people. Location was relatively good - 10 minutes to town centre. It was clean and well maintained. Staff were really helpful.

The hotel was not great - basic but not close to anything and walking around was difficult. I think it would have been better to have been able to stay closer to the downtown core if possible.

We needed a map or more information to figure out what was close by. We did walk around but we really need some guidance about getting to the downtown core. None was forthcoming. Same for questions of where to eat - no recommendations were given.

We had a language barrier - our Spanish is rudimentary at best.

Full Day Trip- Red Rocks, Lagunas Altiplánicas & Atacama Salt Flats

This is a long day to start with so moving the viewing of the flamingos to the the Laguna Cejar day would have made this less strenuous. There is a lot of driving involved so one way to shorten it would be to change the flamingo viewing.

The driver threw that bus around corners at great speed. If you had car issues it might have been a problem. The guide said ask any questions and he would answer them but he was up front and not listening and one could not jump up and ask questions due the way the bus was being driven. In addition, he spent more time on his phone than paying attention to his clients. You had to wait until the bus stopped to engage with him. I saw Rhias but could not get his attention and he kept saying we will see more. I did see more but no one else did because you could not get his attention. Lunch at 4pm is not lunch time.

Afternoon Visit to "Valle de La luna "

The scenery was out of this world. The concept of salt mining took on a whole new meaning - I am not sure how they did it. The guide took us up a the long way first - great idea as it was not so steep.

If you have snorkeled anywhere in the South Pacific or in the Galapagos this is really a waste of time. There are few fish - I maybe saw a total of 100 - and the variety is poor. I did it to say I had snorkeled at Easter Island but it was not very good. I was the only one in the group so had the leader to myself.

There are not a lot of fish so improving it would be difficult. The time out on the water was not very long. If we had been able to go to Bird Island the experience might have been better.

This was my first time using kimkim for a trip and I will definitely be using them again. Planning was smooth and Claudia was easy to get in touch with and answered all the questions I had. We enjoyed all our tours and our tour guides, it was especially nice to have transport pick us up and take us to the airport so we didn’t even have to worry about finding a taxi or Uber. There was a bit of a mix up with the name on our drivers sign when we first arrived but I called the WhatsApp emergency number and we were able to get it figured out pretty painlessly. Claudia checked in on us several times throughout the trip to make sure we were having a good time and to ask if we needed anything which was very appreciated. I would highly recommend using this company for any trips you are interested in taking!

Everything went so smoothly and as planned. Lorena L. listened to what we wanted out of the trip and the trip delivered. Our driver and guide for the Atacama, William and Lorena, were kind, patient, and knowledgeable and funny. Our drivers and guide for the Uyuni portion of the trip, Iván, Carlos, and Jhonny, were also kind, patient, knowledgeable, and funny. We had two cars in Uyuni since there were four of us. My husband and I only had the driver, Iván, who was great, so sweet and caring. He knows the area so well that he could be a guide except that he doesn’t speak English. (I speak Spanish so not a problem for us.) in Uyuni we went on miles and miles of dirt, sand, and salt. Some might find that grueling, but we loved it all. The three men I traveled with are all avid photographers and they were thrilled with the photos they got. We’re so glad we did this trip and used KimKim for the second time.

We had a wonderful trip to Chile. From airport pickup, to the tour of Santiago and Valparaiso, both driver Eliseo and guide Claudio were amazing. All the tours in our next stop in San Pedro de Atacama turned out well. We did have some questions with the transportation, but Jesse was super responsive when we reached out for confirmation. After a busy few days of tours, our last stop in Pichilemu was a delightful change of pace. Hotel Alaia offered an incredible setting and the staff were all so welcoming. Overall a great trip and we are looking forward to visiting Chile again!

We originally booked a trip to Atacama as part of our Chile trip, but our plans changed after we discovered we were expecting a baby. Angel very kindly offered to take us around Santiago instead, having been our main point of contact for the original Atacama booking.
It was great to meet Angel. He was as enthusiastic in person as over email :) Our tour was informative, interesting and very fun!

Me and my husband just came back from our trip in Chile and it was a very satisfying trip. Chile is a very diverse country that everybody needs to add it to their bucket list. Our 10-day sojourn was just a glimpse of what the country has to offer.
This was all made possible when we contacted Tamer who was instrumental in making this happen. Tamer was very patient with us during the planning. He gave us a few tour packages to choose from and he was very responsive. He basically answered all our questions in the quickest time possible.
Angel, who was our first contact during our Santiago stay was awesome !!! He is very professional and yet very personable. He treated us like we were family during our stay. Angel and his entire team were always reaching out to us and asking how we are doing. Very responsive, very punctual and just very comforting to know that he has our back. I like the fact that they reach out to us and gives us updates on our daily itinerary.
Our tour in San Pedro de Atacama and Patagonia were just outstanding.
We've been to quite a few countries and always had no trouble with our tour packages but in Chile- they seem to go above and beyond.
After all our tours-our guides always have a spread of food and drinks which is really something that you can look forward to.
Chilean people are very nice and welcoming.. We've never encountered any person who hasn't smiled or helped us out in every way possible.
So many places to go and explore but we don't mind coming back to Chile. There's so much this country has to offer that we have barely scratched the surface.

We absolutely love this hotel !!! This has a lot of character. We love the quirkiness of this hotel. Every detail was thought of. The room has awesome. Clean and inviting. Too bad we only stayed here overnight. The restaurant was awesome. This hotel is an example of having a clean, inviting and comfortable without being expensive. They made use of what's native to the area and re-used vintage treasure finds to keep this place authentic. It is a small hotel since this used to be a house that's almost a century old but i just like the vibe. The only downside is the fact that there is no elevator which makes carrying your luggage harder not only for us guests but also for the staff that carries them.

I like this place. It's maybe a good 10 minute walk from the city center but i like the peace and quiet that it provides. Room and bathroom is clean. It's not a high end lodge but i like the fact that they upcycle materials to use. The restaurant is clean and inviting. Food is okay. it's just a typical free breakfast. But i'll pick to stay here again if ever we'll be back in Chile.

The entire experience working with Kimkim from start to finish was professional, and enjoyable. The local expertise of Responsible Travel, (our Chile connection) helped outline an itinerary that fit our travel needs both in capacity and economically. Very custom experience. Having staff checking in with us regularly to make sure the trip was going smoothly was comforting. The communication and special advice was valuable and the entire trip just flowed. I loved our pre-arranged airport transfers! And our experienced van driver to ski areas, not only was a great driver, but understood why its important to get to the slopes early was a bonus. A great tour with Angel, our local guide from Responsible Travel. We hit the best empanada spot, met the owners and got to know about local spices, before heading to the markets for shopping. Drank traditional Mote con huesillo and the Pisco Sours. Enjoyed dishes showcasing the variety of fresh regional seafood. Finished the day with a sunset picnic in a secluded park overlooking the city. A magical day and a great way to spend a day in Santiago. Our guide was knowledgeable about regional dishes and local restaurants. Came prepared to escort us through the busy market stalls and answer all of our questions.

Jesse planned a very last minute trip for myself, my husband, and our one year old that was wonderful for our family! We felt like we got to see a lot during our 12 day trip but the pace was not so rushed that we were exhausted. I would highly recommend visiting Chile and Argentina, they are beautiful countries with very friendly and kind people. Jesse was there to answer all of our questions and had a very quick response time when we needed a last minute change. We felt confident traveling with the itinerary she planned for us and would do it again in a heartbeat!

Small hotel with a great location for downtown walking and a great breakfast. We did not have a chance to use the jacuzzi/sauna but loved that it was an option.

This hotel is in desperate need of room upgrades. The door to our room looked like it had been kicked in with marks and debris on the floor and a broken/missing doorstop. We did request to change rooms however the other room the staff showed us looked very similar. The tub/shower was falling apart with pieces of tape across the tile and a moldy and cracked shower handle. Breakfast was included with our stay however the options were very limited and of poor quality. The location very central and the lobby is very modern and up to date which is why I did not give this hotel a one star review.

Full-Day Tour of Torres del Paine National Park

This was our favorite day of the whole trip with stunning views of Torres del Paine National Park. Our guide was Jhon Pineda and he was super friendly and helpful and took some absolutely amazing photos of our family. He truly went above and beyond to make sure we got the best quality photos and videos and we appreciate him so much. He made sure we were comfortable with our baby all day and always checked on us. This tour cannot be missed!

Paul organised our trip, he was patient, very well informed and experienced in helping us to reach agreement to meet all our requirements for the holiday.
It was mainly focused on winery visits. However we had 3 days first in Buenos Aires, where we had two city tours with lovely guide Maria, and two evenings organised , one at the specular Fogon Restaurant and the other at Tango Rojo at Faena Hotel. Everything was perfect for us.
We then flew to Mendoza and met our new guide the delightful Augostina. We visited 4 wineries but the visit to Matervine Winery was the highlight of our Mendoza trip. We enjoyed a beautiful gourmet lunch at Susana Balbo Restaurant. Everything was organised with precision and once more it was perfect for us.
We then flew to Santiago where we were met by guide Roberto and driver Francesco. We had a three hour flight delay and they were so understanding it made a difficult day easier for us. Roberto spent the next 4 days with us. While travelling to and from the 7 wineries he shared all the information possible on the Country of Chile. The economy, the culture, the politics, the history, education, agriculture, industry, geography etc, etc.. He was so informative, a truly lovely man to share our experience with. The best guide we have ever had. The highlight of the Chilean wineries was Montes. A great tour. We also spent a lovely day with Roberto visiting Valparaiso and Vina del Mar.
As mature travellers we believe that leaving the organising to a professional tour operator like Kimkim gave us peace of mind and made travel much less stressful.

Lorena and Vanessa were very helpful from the beginning till the end of the trip. They were very responsive when we were on our trip. In general Lorena customise the trip with exactly all our needs and preferences!!! Totally recommend it using their services for a totally personalised and unforgettable trip!

We had a wonderful trip to Santiago , the coast and wine country thanks to the amazing welcoming and caring by Dominique and Eliseo. They were real, authentic and so helpful, prompt and communicative. Dominique also went out of her way to make sure we knew our pick up times, etc for other outings. They both helped me celebrate my birthday in a special lovely way. Dominique is so knowledgeable and Eliseo despite our language barrier was so fun and caring for us. We had a blast and great introduction to Chile thanks to them both.

The trip to Patagonia was also amazing. KimKim did take care of all the details. Some additional descriptions about tour time pick ups and drives would have been helpful but in the end we had a blast.

This was a great cruise. I think it would have been helpful to have more of a description regarding the pick up time, the length of drive, and need for walk to the boat as felt somewhat surprised by the morning. The trip was fantastic though but could have had a better description of what to expect.

Driver on this leg was not that communicative and the van did not heat up so we were Freezing!

Van did not work well in terms of heating so a cold drive first thing in the morning was challenging.

This is my first time to Chile, Argentina and Bolivia and was excited because we travel to many of our bucket list destinations, such as San Pedro de Atacama, Uyuni, Santiago, Patagonia, El Cafalate, Buenos Aires and Mendoza. The planning process was smooth and Flor was given many local excursions for me to choose. Most of the local guides that were either picking us up or for taking us on a tour were very knowledgable and helpful. But Julio and Willie (the driver) for the 3 days tour in Uyuni are the best. They are knowledgable, caring (very important when travelling at 4700m elevation) and flexible in the plan. Our city tour guide in Buenos Aires was also very good. The local excursions included a combination of private and small group tour. Private tour was definitely more intimate and flexible. But the small group tours especially in San Pedro de Atacama were great too because we had an opportunity to interact with other tourists and had make many new friends. Before we this trip started, we were contacted by Kim Kim's operating team Julian that he would be assisting us 24/7. When we arrived in different stops, the local tour organizers would check on us and provide assistance. As for the accommodations, the hotels in El Cafalate and Mendoza are below our expectations. The staff were helpful but the facilities were dated. Overall, we are glad that we have Kim Kim planning our trip.

We are staying in Hotel Mod, not Argentino because we were advised that Hotel Mod is better. Hotel Mod is about 6 blocks from the centre in a safe neighbourhood. The hotel is big but the service can be improved. The staff is good and helpful. The check in service is lengthy because you need to download the key app to your phone to open the room door. The restaurant in the hotel only provide breakfast and the breakfast is disappointed. They served a lot of canned fruit.

The hotel/camp is very unique because the room is a yurt connected by walk ways to the main reception and restaurant. The best part is that you feel that you are in the nature and not being disturbed by other hotel guests. But since it is a yurt. you are subject to the nature as well because you will hear the rain and the wind (it is quite windy in Patagonia). All the staff are fantastic and helpful. The food for breakfast, lunch and dinner are very good. Many people chose not to go for activities to enjoy the facilities and lunch. In addition, the guides of the activities are also very wonderful. The only draw back for us is that we were waiting an hour at the airport for pickup even though they were informed of the plane arrival time. There is only 2 flights flying in Puerto Nateles everyday.

We were staying there for 2 nights. It is supposed to be very highly rate hotel. Obviously, we are disappointed. The facilities are dated and you can see many things were fallen apart. The wifi doesn't work and there is no closet space in the room. The food in the restaurant is disappointed. The only saving grace is the staff. They are very helpful and nice.

This hotel is in the middle of nowhere but perhaps there are not a lot of choices in the hight desert. It is dated and cold. It is cold because the hotel turn on and off the heat at certain time. They even shut off the power at night (without informing the guests). So you will not have light or wifi. Most rooms have a window facing the common corridor, when people talking in the corridor, you can hear everything. The hotel should have advised all guests to be quiet in the corridor. The dinner on the other hand is quite good.

Hotel La Casa de Don Tomás

San Pedro de Atacama

The hotel is off 5 mins walk to the centre. The room we had was quite small. Due to the design of the hotel, the room is quite hot and we had to open the door to allow air circulation. The hotel is a bite dated but the staff is great and helpful. The best thing of the hotel is its restaurant. The food is very good and priced very reasonable (actually, it is cheaper than the restaurants in the centre).

Evening Astronomy Tour

We were picked up from the hotel to a location not far away. We were provided with a translator to explain what we would see. It was a great experience because the guide provided a lot of information and answered all our questions through the translator. Unfortunately, we had a full moon and we could't see a lot of stars. At the end of the tour, we were provided with drinks and snacks.

Francisco was just absolutely amazing in helping me plan this trip. he was patient with all my changing requests, worked within my budgets. most importantly, he was always honest and that gives me the confidence to refer him to all my friends. His excursion choices were well thought out, with good companies. he went over and above his brief to help me with flight bookings that were not in his purview. he was always available on whatsapp, email. and responded quickly. my only regret is we could not meet. As he said, to meet, we have to now plan another visit to South America soon!

Our family had a really amazing trip to Chile. Angel our tour guide was very knowledgeable and was very responsive. We had a packed trip and being a long country we had quite a bit of travel to do. Our trip to Rapa Nui was once in a lifetime one. Angel had chosen good hotels for us, and the tour guides he had arranged were all excellent. We have always been pleased with Kimkim(We used them in the past for Peru) and this time around too they did not disappoint us. We will definitely be using Kimkim again for our next adventures. However if you are going to Chile, Angel is your man!!!

From the beginning of planning our time in Santiago with a trip to Easter Island, Angel our travel agent was incredibly responsive. He listened to what we wanted and demonstrated a willingness to adjust mid trip. He responded almost immediately to any questions or concerns.

On first day in Santiago we had a full day private tour organized including seeing Valparaiso, Vina Del Mar and a visit to a vineyard. We were met at the port (at the end of our expedition through the glaciers and fjords of Patagonia) by our driver Eduardo and an English speaking guide, Consuelo Ibarra. Eduardo was a great driver and Consuelo an excellent guide.

We were able to see and understand Valparaiso through her eyes as she lives here and she provided a great overview of everywhere we visited. Quickly learning our interests she was able to fill us in on history, politics, art and so much more. It was an excellent day and Consuelo provided us with excellent guidance for our second day exploring Santiago including great local vegetarian food, art installations, green space, many places not to miss when visiting Santiago.

After two days based in Santiago we flew to Rapa Nui, (Easter Island).

All of our airport transfers were taken care of and the drivers arrived promptly to pick us up or meet our flights. Additionally our hotel which we really liked, LaReve was in a great neighborhood, and very accommodating. As we would return here for one more day in Santiago they were happy to store our luggage.

On Easter Island we were booked for a private full day tour and a half day tour with our guide Alex, who met us at the airport. Alex was great and despite the wild weather, fog, rain, high winds, we managed to see all the sites with remarkably few tourists. Alex knew how to sequence our visits to each site. He was very knowledgeable. He was also quite thoughtful, orienting us to the Island before dropping us at the hotel so we knew where we could head on our own.

Despite the weather we had an excellent visit to this extraordinary remote historic island.

Our last day in Santiago was Easter and one of our scheduled tour visits the Bahai Temple was closed. Angel helped us rearrange the day and we received a prompt refund for the cancelled tours.

It was a great trip and the perfect addition to our exploration of remote southern Chile.
