In order to celebrate her birthday, I invited my lovely daughter Sarit to a week long visit to Florence and Venice. It was very well planned and organized by Stephania from KimKim based on our requests and preferences. I must say it was close to 100% to our expectations. Every detail and guide/driver/museum visit went smoothly and the persons guiding us were always on time. That includes the cars from and to the airport, the hotels, the walking guide Irene in Venice, the boat taxis in Venice, the round trip train tickets from Florence to Venice, the morning breakfast offered in the hotels, the hotel locations and the kindness of the car service drivers. Food: the breakfast was prepared well and was pleasing. I am allergic to gluten therefore I can eat only gluten free which is not easy to find. I must point out that the Florence as well as the Venice hotel had a variety of gluten free items including bread, muffins, donuts and cookies. Disappointment: I would like to point out that the Florence hotel room was dignified located on the river with large windows but the television did not work; the sound when fixed came out of the bathroom (!) and the technician needed assistance as he did not know how to repair it. And there was only one channel in English. In addition, the heated towel racks in the modern bathroom did not turn on at all so all week our towels were cold; here too a technician came, claimed he had repaired the racks but no… they never turned on to warm the towels. The Venice hotel suite for one night was beautiful; there were only towels but no bathrobes. Strange to me….
I would like to complete my review with a huge compliment to Stephania and KimKim for granting us such a high level vacation! We will definitely recommend your services to all our friends. Kind regards, Bella Klein

We just had the most amazing trip to Italy! My sister and I were with our 80 year old mother, and we visited Venice, Florence and Rome, and couldn't be happier with how it went and all that we experienced. Irine Lappa was a perfect vacation planner and her team missed no detail. The timing of the itinerary was perfect - the the right amount of time for transitions, it was not harried, just the perfect pace. All of our connections were just as planned, and all of the tour guides were so knowledgeable, warm and so welcoming. We loved our tour of Venice with Marie with Liv Tours, she was fun and passionate about Venice. And Monica (Be local with Monica) gave us an amazing tour of Murano - such a fun day! In Florence, our guide Antonella gave us an expert's highlights tour - she was truly one of our highlights of the whole trip. We loved our excursion throughout Tuscany - Marco with Florencetown tours was so great. It was really enriching being with a couple from Brazil and a couple from the UK to experience this beautiful countryside and hear each other's stories. Lastly, in Rome after an amazing visit to the Colosseum and a wonderful tour with Barbara with Liv Tours at the Vatican (we skipped the line everywhere - I can't tell you how helpful this was!), we enjoyed a super fun Roman food tour of the Trastevere with Aly. Irene and her team were in contact with us throughout the trip, and super responsive. They even communicated with one of our hotels about our mother's birthday, and the hotel surprised us with a cake! All of our hotels were just stunning, centrally located, welcoming and helpful. I highly recommend Irene and her team at KimKim - our trip was just the best!

Hello Brian,

Thank you very much for your detailed feedback.

First of all, I want to thank you for your cooperation in this trip that was planned for such an extended and diverse group of people. I am very happy you appreciated the guides and your tours, and I totally agree with you regarding the last-minute changes and late notice.

Despite the fact that your detailed itinerary was ready 2 weeks before your trip, the works in progress in the harbor of Positano - which we mistakenly assumed that would have finished by your time of you visit- obliged us to customize one of the days of your trip along the Amalfi Coast, which I understand that you liked very much at the end, and that it was the highlight of your trip.

We also had to make a second change to ensure a pleasant and stress-free experience in the Colosseum, the Roman Forum and the Palatine hill, which I believe you also liked. Because we have witnessed unexpected crowds during the last couple of days before your tour, our guide suggested moving the guided tour in the Colosseum and the Roman Forum in the afternoon, otherwise the queuing time would be more than 2 hours.

These 2 changes caused a last-minute modification in your plan. This is something we like to avoid -and I personally hate when we cannot avoid- as it is stressful for me and the travelers. I am doing my best to receive earlier notice for any last-minute changes from my guides, where possible. This is actually the reason for which you received the Traveler Care team message later than usual, 2 days before your trip.

All in all, I hope you had an overall wonderful experience and that I somehow contributed to getting the best at the right budget. Italy is extremely expensive this year and I tried to select cost-efficient options and to allocate this budget in a reasonable and balanced way, definitely more to knowledgeable guides and professional drivers that can really make a difference! I hope I managed to do that.

I wish I can host you once again in Italy or in Greece, where I also specialize in.
All the best
Eleni

This hotel was a bit disappointing because all other hotels during our trip to Italy were wonderful. It felt like an airbnb as opposed to a hotel--self check-in outside regular business hours. We were traveling with our two teenage sons. We found out we didn't need a second room, because there was a sofa bed in the family suite that they could have used, which was not clear from their website or when we were presented with the proposal. More to our frustration, we were woken up a few times during the night because of the hallway noise. Our room (106A) was adjacent to 106B, from which we could hear everything, and the occupants in 106B were unpleasantly loud late at night. Since there was no one at the front desk in the evening, we could not ask for timely intervention. Perhaps, they should have given 106B as our second room to avoid this. At least one time, the noise source seemed to be the staff; in the morning, there were bags of laundry right outside our door.

The highlight of the driving tour was the stop for us to hike the Path of Gods trail. It was fantastico!! Because we fit the hike in, things got quite late in the day, and by the time we got to Ravello, everything was closed. The weather was gorgeous during our hike and by the time we were leaving Positano, it started to rain and the visibility fell. We're so grateful that Giuseppe drove us safely throughout our tour, because the road is curvy to say the least. He was also extremely knowledgeable about farming in the region, which we appreciated.

Dear Hikaru and family!

Thank you very much for your positive feedback. Me and our team truly appreciate your detailed feedback, as it helps us become better, and minimize hiccups during the trips we plan and operate. I took a very good note of your enthusiastic feedback for our selected guides and drivers in each place and your comments about the hotels.

On a separate note, I am really sorry that Splendor Suite did not come up to the standards we want to apply for all our travelers; my attempt to allocate the budget in the smartest way possible and balance the cost of accommodations versus experiences/ tours and activities has an impact on my decisions, and I assume that after the majestic Maison La Minervetta, Splendor Suite Roma might have seemed even more basic.

I truly hope I can plan again a trip for you and your family in Italy or Greece, where I also specialize in and I wish you safe travels!

This trip overall was definitely one of the best

Harris was also very responsive to my requests during the trip and made changes to the hotel when I wasn't happy. the activities in Greece were the best. I truly feel I got a good dosage of what Santorini and Athens have to offer.

COns: We had a cooking class in Florence, although it was nice it took up our whole day, considering we were only in Florence for 2 days, I would not have recommended this activity. The hotels were in really good locations but the Athens hotel room was incredibly tiny. It was soo tiny there was no bathroom. just a shower, toilet and sink but they were in the room, instead of separate room. I didn't like this at all, but the pro here is Harris was able to get me an upgrade in Santorini to make up for this.

Using Kimkim, made my trip so much easier and stress-free as all transportation and schedule were already planned out so it took off that stress of having to plan things out,

Feb 6, 2023: Arrival at our hotel Rinucci Relais
Our driver at the Naples Airport was on time and patiently waited for us to do the paperwork for my husband’s lost suitcase that had been left behind at Rome airport.

At the Rinucci Relais, we were warmly greeted and offered typical Naeopolitian pastries; then
our host explained the breakfast service and showed us around our room.
Our accomodations were much more than the average hotel suite. Our “apartment” was spacious with a sitting area and and table and chairs if we wished to breakfast in our room. The bathroom and shower were spacious and modern. There was also a kitchen with a small stove and boiler.
On host also helped us to book restaurants and her suggestions were excellent.
Our breakfasts were spectacular, well prepared, generous, and delicious.
We were very pleased with our stay at the Rinucci Relai and would definately book the Rinucci Relais if we were to visit Naples again.

Naples and Pompeii 7 February

Our guide, Iulia, arrived at the appointed at our hotel and we discussed our plans for the day. We drove to the center of “Old town Naples” and Iulia explained the important architectural elemtent of the streets and important churches, monumnets, Roman ruins, ancient structures. To help us to get a sense of the city, Iulia recounted many myths and stories about what we were seeing. We stopped for coffee and delicious Nepolitian pastries. We enjoyed wandering the crazy streets of Naples and learning about the culinary delights of the city.
In the afternoon we drove to Pompeii. As we walked through the small museum and the ruins of the site, Iulia’s explanations, historical details, and humorous stories about Pompeii were detailed, interesting and engaging. I especially appreciated learning about the frescos/wall painting in the various structures that we viewed.

Iulia was an excellent guide; she made our visit to Pompeii a fun learning experience. Her sense of humor and extensive knowledge made for an excellent day.

8 February: Tour of the Amalfi Coast with Ciro
Our driver, Ciro, met us at the appointed time to begin our exploration of the Amalfi coast.
We discussed our itinerary for the day. Since our visit was in winter and many places on the Amalfi coast would be closed, Ciro suggested that we make adapt our original plan. We very much appreciated this. Our Naples guide had also made us aware of quietness of the coast during the winter season. The coast scenery was beautiful. As Ciro drove along the coast, he added details about the coast and Naples. His commentary was interesting, informed, and added to the landscape that we were viewing. We stopped in Amalfi for an hour to wanders, and of course, indulge in coffee and Neopoltian pastries. We also made several view-point stops. Our route took us to Sorrento where we originally planeed to stop for lunch. After realizing that the best restaurants would be closed, Ciro suggested that on our return that we could stop in the shadow of Vesuius at a winery for a wine tasting of local wines and lunch. We liked this suggestion and enjoyed the wine tasing and a delicious lunch. On our return to our hotel in Naples, we stopped for a coffee. This was the perfect end to a wonderful day. Ciro was an excellent driver and provided us with a lovely tour of the coast.
9 February: Our driver picked us up at Rinucci Relais and drove us to the airport for our flight home.

Claudio took us through the Valley of the Temples and explained each temple and the history of the Greeks and Romans in Agrigento. In Catania, Margherita was delayed due to unforeseen traffic conditions so she sent her friend, Angela to meet us at our hotel at the specified time. Angela was great. She took us to the Bellini Gardens and told us about their history. Then we met up with Margherita who condensed a lot of history into the next 3 hours while walking around Catania. We saw cathedrals, gardens, the market, streets of the old town and even stopped for coffee at a historic coffee shop.

All of our drivers showed up when they were expected and got us to the next location on time. Each of them made sure we met up with our host contact or the hotel where we were staying.

Our tour of the Amalfi coast with Antonio was amazing. He stopped several times for us to get pictures and took some of us as well. Lunch at Le Bonta del Capo was amazing! Picking lemons with the chef, making the limoncello, the wonderful meal and the limoncello at the end were among the most memorable experiences of our travels.

We couldn't have asked for more.

Hedoné Design Experience B&B
Agrigento

Barbara met us on the street and directed us to the B&B which was hard to find. She gave us information about the town and offered to drive us to the Valley of the Temples the next morning for our early tour. She served us breakfast each morning with wonderful Italian pastries, jams, and spreads. She was more than gracious. The room had a view of the valley of the temples below and the sea in the distance. We would have enjoyed the balcony if it had been warmer, but we chose to travel in the winter.

Air from the heater blew directly on the bed when it was on. I solved this problem by hanging the decorative bed cover over the top bar above the bed. I would have appreciated a light blanket as the duvet is too much for me. I have this problem in all hotels that use duvets.

This review is long overdue for our 10 day trip to Italy in October 2022. We had never used kimkim before, nor do we typically use travel agents , but we decided to give it a try and we are so glad we did! Our trip covered Tuscany and Cinque Terre, and we flew in and out of Rome. Maria Grazia was a delight to work with. She came up with an organized itinerary, and was receptive and accommodating to my modifications. She revised it three times, and we also had a zoom call during the planning process. The hotels she chose were perfect - very boutique like, but not budget breaking. We stayed in hotels in Siena, San Gimignano, Monterosso and Rome. And the transportation from place to place was seamless - we had drivers, we rented a car for a portion, and we took the trains. Everything went smoothly. One of the highlights she organized for us was a private walking food tour of Siena and that was a treat. Our tour guide Anna was knowledgeable, fun and knew the authentic places to go. It was a well spent four hours.

I highly recommend kimkim, and in fact, we are working with them again for a trip to Croatia and I have referred the company to many friends.

Our guide Anna was just delightful. It was a relaxing and fun four hours. She really knows Siena and also had lots of recommendations for other places to take a day trip to in the area as well as shopping and restaurant tips. Her English was excellent and we just thoroughly enjoyed her knowledge of the city, its history and its food.

Chiara responded to every message and request I sent during the planning phase and, along with her teammate Jessica, were available and responsive while we were in Italy.
Our days in Rome, Assisi and Florence were the perfect blend of history, faith, art and natural beauty we had hoped for. We would not hesitate to work with kimkim again.

Using Kimkim to plan my honeymoon was so easy and definitely worth it! I recommend to anyone planning a big trip, especially in a foreign country to use this service! It can be really stressful to look up reviews of places, compare pricing, and then need help with the language after booking. Fabio and Deborah were fantastic to work with. Fabio created the itinerary and helped adjust it after some feedback. Deborah was a great contact before the trip.

To start my trip, my husband and I experienced a delay in our flight and ended up arriving very late at night. Our Italian concierge, Roberta, was phenomenal. We communicated through Whatsapp and she reassured me that we would be taken care of once we arrived and not to worry about any delays in our flights. She also helped us get recommendations and reservations for a Christmas Day lunch which was very helpful. It was also really nice to have private transfers when we moved from city to city and to and from the airport. The train station in Milan would have been a little difficult to navigate on our own.

I thought our itinerary was a great mix of small private tours and days where we were free to explore on our own. In Milan, we did a tour of Duomo as well as La Scala theater. Our guide, Barbara, was wonderful and very knowledgeable. We enjoyed this on our first day as we got our bearings in the city and were able to walk around a bit and explore the Christmas markets nearby. We also did a cooking class that was awesome. Our cooking teacher, Debora was very friendly and made it seem so easy to cook up some delicious pasta and tiramisu.

In Florence, we did a wine and olive oil tasting tour in Tuscany and a walking tour of the city that included museum tickets to see Michalangelo's David sculpture. We enjoyed all aspects of these itineraries in Florence.

In Rome, we did a tour of the Coleseum, Palestine Hill, the Roman Forum, and a separate tour of Vatican city and the Sistine Chapel. These were really crowded, so I was glad to have tickets and not worry about entrance into these tourist destinations. Additionally in Rome, we did an Aperitivo tour/food tour which was delicious and had us returning to a few favorite spots while we were still in town. Valeria, our food tour guide, was great company and we really enjoyed eating our way through Rome.

While it was really cool to see Vatican City and the Sistine Chapel, it was overwhelmingly crowded. My memory is legitimately poor after brain surgery in terms of remembering names, but I’m going to at least tell you what services I’m referencing. Our main guide there who met me in Naples, handled detains there, and throughout the 10 days in Italy checked in with me at least once a day was AWESOME. The assistant/guide who worked with me multiple days in Florence and was kind enough to accommodate some extra excursions I wanted to go on including the purchase of an Italian pocketbook was AWESOME. And our guide/ driver for much of the end of the trip was beyond helpful and incredibly knowledgeable of so much about Italy/ every time I had a special need or asked for an accommodation, she made it happen for me. LOVE that girl!!
I wish I could remember names; every driver and guide were so amazingly knowledgeable of their area and so helpful in accommodating us. I’ll never hesitate to use Kimkim again…

Accommodations were beautiful and their breakfast was my favorite! Got spoiled! It was quite surprising to learn that 2 beds meant 2 twin beds pushed together, but that’s apparently a common thing since it happened at all 3 hotels. We managed! Also surprised that what I call a “washcloth” was not part of the towel package! Sorry for all the wet hand towels which were the smallest available! Room service was VERY helpful and punctual when we needed extra services. Was definitely pleased with accommodations and hotels!

Elena planned a fantastic tour of northern Italy - Florence, Tuscany, Cinque Terre, Bologna, Venice - for me and my husband. Hotel Review
Belvedere di San Leonino
Castellina in Chianti

The Belvedere is beautiful with amazing views of the Tuscan hillside. We had such a relaxing stay there after a week in Florence. Breakfast was delicious - with an ingenious cappuccino maker!

Activity Review
Food day including Lambrusco wine tasting, Balsamic Vinegar, pasta making class, Parma ham and Parmigiano Reggiano - from Bologna

Italy

This was probably the highlight in a trip of amazing experiences! We learned so much about how lambrusco, parma ham, parmigiana reggiano, and ricotta are made. We cannot overstate how delicious everything was. Just a note - instead of the pasta making class, we had lunch at the Opera winery, which was incredible, with the most beautiful views. Our guide Isadora and driver Fabia were very knowledgeable and great fun. Highly recommend!
