Hotel Maestranza, Ronda
Simple yet comfortable rooms in a central hotel with a breakfast buffet and onsite gastro bar
Overview
Pros
- The hotel's location is perfectly central, right on the main commercial street that stretches across the town and Puente Nuevo.
- Puente Nuevo and the Mirador de Ronda are just a quick two-minute walk, the Bullring of the Royal Cavalry of Ronda is across the street, and around the corner is Plaza del Socorro with the Parroquia de Nuestra Señora del Socorro Catholic church.
- The onsite restaurant is a nice perk, with unique twists on traditional dishes and a very extensive wine menu featuring local varietals.
- Relax in the lounge or bar with a glass of wine from the Ronda area, and there's a small café offering snacks and sandwiches throughout the day.
- Enjoy a daily breakfast buffet and onsite parking.
- Though clean, modern, and comfortable, the rooms are relatively basic with a standard hotel feel, so you won't find any perks or anything unique to Ronda.
Kimkim's Take
Authenticity
From the exterior, Hotel Maestranza is a beautiful historic building with traditional iron balconies and wood window frames. The hotel also has a passion for local wine, which you can enjoy in the restaurant with a very extensive menu or sip in the lounge.Location
You'll be right on the city's main commercial street that stretches across Puente Nuevo. The bullring is across the street, and a quick walk will take you to the Mirador de Ronda, Alameda del Tajo park, and both bridges. You'll also be close to numerous shops and restaurants and around the corner from Plaza del Socorro.Rooms & Bathrooms
Bedrooms and bathrooms are pretty standard—no-frills and just the basics, though perfectly clean and comfortable. Each has a minifridge, kettle, desk, and modern bathrooms (some with a tub/shower combo). Families can book triple rooms with three twin beds.Other Highlights
The hotel's restaurant is a plus, the SenSur Gastrobar, with a breakfast buffet and lunch and dinner menus. In a trendy dining area, you can enjoy elevated twists on classic recipes (even the traditional baguette sandwiches look and taste gourmet). The restaurant and hotel love wine, so you can relax in the lounge or bar/café with a glass of local tinto. Parking is available at the hotel for an extra fee.Like what you see?
