La Perla Blanca, Ronda

Comfort
Simple rooms with perks like hot tubs or balconies in a humble countryside property next to a winery

Overview

The family-owned La Perla Blanca sits next to the owner's private vineyards producing the area's unique BadMan wines. Enjoy an optional tour of the vineyards, complete with a wine tasting in the property's cellar. The rooms are a bit old-fashioned yet comfy and clean. Some have private hot tubs or balconies, and you'll find a basket of breakfast goods at your door each morning to enjoy anywhere on the property, such as in the garden next to the outdoor pool. There's no restaurant but you'll be just 10 minutes from Ronda and parking is free.

Pros
  • This family-owned countryside retreat sits among a private vineyard that produces BadMan Wines, named after the founders (Sinbad and Manuel).
  • Because you're staying practically in the vines, you can enjoy wine tours and tastings right at the property.
  • You'll be a little over five miles from the center of Ronda, which takes about 10 minutes by car.
  • The hotel serves breakfast picnic-style, as each morning, you'll find a basket full of goodies at your door, which you can enjoy anywhere on the property.
  • You'll have free parking at the property, plus a few walking and cycling trails right outside your door.
  • Relax at the outdoor swimming pool and sundeck, and enjoy nearby restaurants for your meals, including La Cascada, a riverside eatery just two minutes away by foot.
Cons
  • There's no onsite restaurant, so you'll have to drive for meals other than breakfast.
  • The rooms feel a little outdated, especially the bathrooms.

Authenticity

La Perla Blanca ("the white pearl") is a typical countryside house with multiple dwellings converted into peaceful accommodation. The property's owners are also in the wine business and own the neighboring vineyard, which you can enjoy with a tour and tasting.

Location

A quick 12-minute drive takes you through the valley and up the hill to the center of Ronda, which is a little over five miles. You'll need to make the drive for meals, as there's no onsite restaurant. A short 30-minute drive takes you to one of the beautiful white villages, Grazalema in Sierra de Grazalema National Park, or Zahara de la Sierra with beautiful views of the area reservoir.

Rooms & Bathrooms

You can choose from standard rooms, superior rooms, and suites. All are comfortable and clean, though the furnishings could generally use an update, as could the bathrooms. Some rooms offer private hot tubs, Jacuzzi baths, and/or balconies.

Other Highlights

You can relax at the outdoor pool with its sundeck, sit in the garden, or tour the vineyards, which ends with a tasting in the wine cellar. If you like walking or cycling, you'll find a couple of trails near the property's entrance. Parking is free, and you'll receive a basket filled with breakfast goods each morning to enjoy anywhere on the property.
