Pros
  • Each individual bungalow sits separately, so you won't share any walls with your neighbors.
  • The white-washed cabins all surround an outdoor pool with sun loungers and umbrellas.
  • Free parking is a nice perk, as you might want to have a car to explore Menorca and the area's beaches.
  • Guests can easily walk to nearby eateries, swimming coves, hiking paths, and Cala en Bosc's marina.
  • The property is good for families, as each cabin has a separate bedroom and living room, sleeping up to four guests.
  • The resort spans quite a bit of space and owns 24 bars and eateries along the marina, so guests have plenty of food choices.
Cons
  • The bungalows have a very different look than the resort's hotel rooms and feel pretty basic in comparison.
  • Most of the resort's amenities (aside from the outdoor pool at the bungalows) are adult-only, so children can't use them.
  • Because the resort owns and operates much of the town's center, some travelers might find it inauthentic, touristy, or kitsch.

Authenticity

Bungalows del Lago is part of the larger Lago Resort, which includes four separate lodgings encompassing Cala en Bosc's marina. Once you see the grounds, you'll understand how this one property creates the town's vibe. Though the bungalows don't embrace Menorca's natural appeal, other parts of the resort certainly do.

Location

Set on energetic Cala en Bosc, Lago Resort Menorca offers bungalows just down the street from the marina and about a seven-minute walk from the swimming spot, Platja de Son Xoriguer. To escape the crowds, you can walk about 15 minutes to the start of the Cala Trivaya coastal hiking path, which passes many coves and inlets. To get to the island's hubs, plan a 13-minute drive to Ciutadella de Menorca and an hour to Mahón.

Rooms & Bathrooms

The resort's bungalows are independent homes, all surrounding an outdoor pool and sun terrace. All are simple yet comfortable, sleeping up to four guests with a bedroom, living room and sofabed, bathroom with a shower, and full kitchen. You can also enjoy relaxing on your personal furnished patio, though it's not as private or shaded as it could be.

Sustainability

Lago Resort Menorca as a complex has two official sustainability certifications, Biosphere and Menorca Biosphere. The hotel focuses on reducing energy use, waste, and water consumption to obtain these credentials. You might notice hybrid solar panels, native plant species, and compostable and recycled products. The resort also purifies and reuses water, grows food locally, and has a waste separation system.
