10 days Colombia - Bogota, Cartagena, Coffee region

A couple visited Colombia in October 2017

“I am being flown to a conference in Bogota with my boyfriend joining at the end of the week. We would like to spend a couple of days in and around Bogota and then definitely go to Cartagena. I would like to see some natural beauty too, potentially the coffee region. We are happy to do internal flights to speed travel up but we don't want to spend too much of our quite limited time travelling. We would look to fly out from Bogota. We love food, culture, and natural beauty. I would like to get to know some history. Neither of us speak spanish, so some assistance on that front would be good.”

Summary of the trip planning conversation

Below are some useful excerpts from the trip planning conversation
Hello, nice to meet you!

My name is Nathalie and I myself moved to Colombia after I first visited it. I really love this country and I'll be happy to help you visit it!

How great to spend some time out of the conference to stay and visit the country! You will love it!
When will be your conference? Depending on when you are free to start visiting and traveling, you can do both Bogotá and Cartagena, we might be a little short of time for the coffee region though. But don't worry, with Bogotá and Cartagena, you will already learn a lot about Colombian culture and history!

As you like food, I would also suggest to visit the Paloquemao market in Bogotá, so you can learn a bit more about the fruits and vegetable here (they have a lot of fruits, very different from what we can find in Europe!), and a cooking class as well, if you'd like to try.

Don't worry about the Spanish, we do have English-speaking guides in both cities, Colombian are also so nice and welcoming that it will be easy for you to communicate with anyone, even though they don't speak a lot of English,

Let me know about the dates and I'll be happy to send you a suggestion of itinerary and activities for your trip! Also, if you have a preference for the category of hotels, please let me know.

I am looking forward to hearing from you.
Feel free to ask if you have any question, I'll be happy to help!

Best regards,

Hi Nathalie

Great to hear from you so soon.

In short, without having done much research yet, we would like to a tour something like this https://www.kimkim.com/c/the-real-colombia-9-day-cultural-adventure would be great, but a slightly reduced to fit our dates would be perfect!

For accommodation, we don't care so much for 5* hotels and prefer places that are unique, with character and offer something different. The eco-lodges, for instance, look really cool! We usually stay in airbnbs when we travel so the opportunity to stay in a more authentic accommodation to get a feel for Colombia would be great.

It's great to hear Colombians are so friendly. I've fortunately been to Panama and have an idea of what they are like but we're both very excited to be visiting South America proper. Lots of great food experiences would also be of interest as we love to eat :)

Traveler Review

Nathalie was extremely responsive and our holiday went incredibly smoothly. The guides and activities we did were really high quality and we had a fantastic trip, in large part because of the well organized trip and recommendations we got from Nathalie. The only thing I would have changed is the booking of our flights, which had to be changed due to the strike. These were not booked immediately and therefore the price went up again. However, this is fairly minor as we appreciate that those were unusual circumstances. We otherwise found the service to be very responsive and easily facilitated through Kimkim.
