Explore natural wonders of Iceland and ambiance of villages

A couple visited Iceland in July 2017

“We would like to rent a car and have our lodging reserved for us. We have a semi-flexible schedule and could pick different dates if necessary. We are flexible on accommodations.

Thank you so much.”

Summary of the trip planning conversation

Below are some useful excerpts from the trip planning conversation
Chris:
Welcome to kimkim! Thank you for contacting us to help you with your travel plans to Iceland this summer, we would be happy to connect you with one of our local specialists who can work with you to make sure that you have a great experience in Iceland.

The summer is peak season in Iceland, which means that some areas like the south coast and golden circle areas can be quite crowded, and hotel availability is very limited at this time. Instead, I would recommend that you spend your time in the west and north of the country, where you can still see many great places but with only a fraction of the people.

I will attach an idea for about 9-10 days exploring the Snaefellsnes Peninsula, the remote Westfjords area, and then the north around Lake Myvatn, Akureyri and Husavik.

Traveller:
We love your itinerary. Since you suggested towns to stay in, does your service include booking lodging based on availability or would that be our responsibility? We have looked into availability of flights from Newark, NJ but haven't booked them yet. Also, any recommendations regarding a rental car? Finally, clothing attire suggestions for hiking?

Chris:
I'm glad that you liked the itinerary. We can take care of accommodations and car rental as well as part of our service. I will invite our Iceland-based specialist who can find some different options for you and prices.

Halldor:
Thank you for your request. I would be happy to assist you with a self-drive tour to the West and North of Iceland.

As Chris mentioned we can arrange your entire package including car rental, accommodation and any tours you wish you take. All our bookings also include a detailed day wise itinerary which is completely customised to your interests. So we can include recommendations for hiking trails as well.

We recommend a 4X4 SUV which would be more comfortable on some of the gravel roads in the Westfjords and North Iceland.

For hiking it is good to have thermal innerwear, windproof middle layer and rainproof (if possible also windproof) outerwear, good hiking boots, hiking pants (no jeans), cap and gloves. Hope that is not too much. It also depends to a large extent on where you are hiking and the duration of the hike. But better to have more than less :-)

Please let me know if you have any questions or would like to book. I look forward to hearing from you.
