“We are interested in 'Self-Guided Iceland Grand Tour by Land Rover' or Jeep (automatic transmission, not manual)
We are adventurous, fit and fairly experienced travellers. (He has travelled solo throughout Europe; I have travelled in a family group around the world on an independent itinerary, hostels, etc) . We are on a budget. Our accommodation requests are very modest: a private room with shared bath in a hostel, or camping.
We definitely want to see a glacier, spas/the Blue Lagoon, northern lights if possible. We have hiking boots and hope to use them!”
Trip planning highlights
4 Days in Iceland: South Coast and Reykjavik
Summary of the trip planning conversation
We can also arrange a trip to the south coast, however it will be about 4-5 hours to get to the Jokulsalron Glacier Lagoon and Skaftafell for hiking. If you wanted to do that, it would be best to drive to Vik on the day you arrive, and maybe spend 2 nights there, and then your last night in Reykjavik. It will still be the end of the peak season in the south, which may make it hard to find availability for 2 nights in Vik, but we can try if you strongly prefer that.
Chris' attention to detail was really appreciated. He did an excellent job with our trip from my first inquiry through to his "check in" note during our travels. We really enjoyed the out of the way and less visited places he suggested, and the hotels were fabulous!
As stated earlier Chris was friendly, knowledgeable and efficient. His suggestions were excellent, particularly his advice about how much we could realistically see and do in 3.5 days
