Day 1: Welcome to Reykjavík

Today you will be met at the airport in Reykjavik and transferred to your hotel. After meeting your guide, you will be taken on a walking tour around the beautiful harbor. Soak up Reykjavík’s charm as you explore the wonders of this amazing city. In the afternoon, you will be taken to Midgard Base Camp in HvolsvöllurSouth Iceland. An expert guide will help you to set up your backpack and outfit you with gear. This evening, enjoy an Icelandic dinner and get to know the new friends you will be trekking with.

Day 2: Trek Hungurfit to Lake Álftavatn

Today you will drive to Hungurfit in an adapted 4WD to the start your epic adventure. Hike along remote sheepherders' trails in Fjallabak Nature Reserve, traverse small creeks, mountains, and canyons. Cross over into the famous Laugavegur Trail — considered one of the best hikes in Iceland — ending in a stunning view of Lake Álftavatn.  For your first dinner on the trek, you will prepare a barbeque together with the group. Enjoy the 20 hours of daylight and play some games, or take an evening walk. Overnight camping at Lake Álftavatn.

Day 3: Trek Through the Volcanic Desert to Emstrur

Wake up to an outdoor breakfast in the Icelandic wilderness. This morning you can take it a little easy, with the option to rest longer before your hike to Emstrur. Today you will walk through volcanic ash fields with green dormant volcanos surrounding you to join part of the Laugavegur Trail, one of the highlights of the trip. Here you will see fellow hikers, as the trail gets quite busy in the summertime. Tonight you will camp at Emstrur, a picturesque camping area. Take an evening hike to the beautiful Markarfljót Canyon, one of the gems in the Icelandic highlands. Dinner will be delivered to our campsite from Midgard Base Camp Restaurant.

Day 4: Trek to the Thorsmork

Today the trail will take you through the canyon lands of Almenningar, where you'll cross glacier rivers, with a stunning view of Katla Volcano and Mýrdalsjökull Glacier. You will pass through an Icelandic forest, beautiful canyons, and small gorges.  Overnight in the campground at Þórsmörk (Thorsmork, or"The Valley of Thor").  Tonight enjoy a party around a bonfire. Dinner will be delivered from Midgard Base Camp Restaurant.

Day 5: Explore Þórsmörk

After three action-packed days of trekking, enjoy a rest day in beautiful Þórsmörk. Relax or explore the hiking trails around Þórsmörk, but this time you can travel super light. Take in the stunning views from the valley, which is perfectly situated between glaciers and volcanoes. For your last trekking dinner, you'll prepare a barbeque with the group over a fire.

Day 6: Trek the Fimmvörðuháls Trail

Today is the longest day of the trek, but also one of the most beautiful. It will take you along the Fimmvörðuhals Trails, across a mountain pass (elevation gain +2,625 feet), between two glaciers — Eyjafjallajokull and Myrdalsjokull — to Skógar. You will see over 20 waterfalls along the way including the iconic Skogafoss Waterfall. From Skógar you will be transported back to Midgard Base Camp in Hvolsvöllur. In the evening, enjoy the rooftop sauna and hot tub. Savor a homemade meal and celebrate your accomplishment.

Day 7: Departure

Today you will say goodbye to Iceland. Enjoy a delicious breakfast before being transferred to the airport in Reykjavik.
