I really liked the Skuggi Hotel by Keahotels in Reykjavik. The location was great, very close to many things to walk to. One of the standout points for us was the early check-in they provided after our overnight flight, which was incredibly helpful. They also offered us access to their breakfast, which was very much appreciated as we were exhausted and hungry upon arrival. It was a very welcoming experience, and having breakfast and a nap truly helped us recharge for the rest of our day.

The Hike to Húsafell Canyon Baths was a disappointment for us. It was advertised as a hike into a thermal pool, but in reality, the hike felt like just going down a dirt path with some steps. The pool itself was nice, but compared to other pools we've been to, it was underwhelming. It's not something we would have chosen to do had we known what it was.

The Glacier Ice Cave Experience was very memorable. The guide took us to a few special spots, including filming locations for Game of Thrones, adding an interesting and unique layer to an already incredible excursion. It was well done and a must-see when in Iceland.

The Silfra Snorkeling Adventure was the highlight of our trip! It's definitely not for everybody, but it was a very unique experience that's worth doing. The location and the whole experience were nothing short of spectacular and stood out as a memorable part of our Iceland trip.

Good place in a charming little village!

Fun, unique farm setting. The dinner menu was limited but food was delicious. Very quiet! Enjoyed the farm animals!

Perfect choice close to our itinerary and good food

Great location, quiet and comfortable. Appreciated that our stay included breakfast. Our arrival was much earlier than check in time- staff willingly stored our luggage. If could change check in times to correspond closer to flight arrival times without being charged for an extra day- that would be really appreciated.

Absolutely loved this hotel. It was cozy and inviting. The staff was amazing. Breakfast was outstanding with personal service. Our favorite place we stayed during a 9 day trip.

Good location. We did have a bit of a fiasco with the key code to the building and room. Which resulted in us being locked out every time we left. Fortunately they did answer the phone and were able to reissue the codes. However, it was every single time we had to get back in. Breakfast was good and the rooms were clean.

Quaint hotel in the country side. Very clean. We ate both dinner and breakfast there and it was good.

Great hotel. Fabulous breakfast. The front desk staff, a young man, was extremely friendly and helpful. Rooms were nice. Absolutely would come back. Great location for Vik.

This is an amazing waterfall with a lovely path to explore it well.

Although it can get crowded, Pingvellir is not to be missed. The walk from the visitor's center takes you through the fissure between continents, the area believed to be the site of the first parliament, and other sites. We also took the additional walk to see Silfra Fissure where one can snorkel or dive to see the continental divide up close and personal. It was enormously windy while we were there so we didn't do the 6+ mile hike we had planned to do, but the 4 miles we did do were great!

The geyser is amazing and reliable! We got great pictures and took the walk to see them all.

We took the walk to the pools just before sunset. It was a nice walk. The pools were cooler than the other geothermal pools we visited and it was going to start getting dark so we didn't go in but it was a nice walk and we caught the best light for the views of the nearby glacier!

Amazing rock formations and a beautiful cliff overlooking the ocean. We walked all around and the took the walk to the top from the lower parking lot. There is a lighthouse and a great view there.

This was cute thing and a welcome stop. You could add your own cairn to the collection and see those others had made.

We loved this beach! The tide was kind to us and we were able to explore the cave. We took the walk from the upper parking lot to the beach.

It was very fun to walk to this waterfall after the glacier adventure.

We stopped in Reyoarfjorour and saw the World War II exhibit from the outside (the museum opened later than we wanted to stay). The fjord is beautiful and it is a cool village. Stop at Petra's rock shop out town. It was a fun stop to see the collection and meet Petra's granddaughter!

Very cool town with a rainbow street, pond you can walk around, interesting sculptures and some a nice restaurant or two. Many of the shops were closed for the season when we got there but we saw a great exhibit at the art center and wandering around was fun.

Dettifoss and Selfoss are powerful and magnificent waterfalls that are easy to see via a great path and viewing platforms. Hafragilsfoss takes a bit of a bumpy drive (or longer walk) to reach but it is worth it!

The basalt columns at the canyon are amazing and similar to those at Giant's Causeway in Northern Ireland and Devil's Postpile in California, as well as in other areas of Iceland. The canyon is beautiful and they have a great walking path that allows you to really experience the canyon!

These pseudocraters are quite interesting but maybe a little less so than the many other great formations in the Lake Myvatn area. But it is great to see them all! The visitor center near the pseudocraters is super helpful in getting the full picture The Lake Myvatn area is amazing--all of it- climb the two volcanos to their craters, check out the geothermal plant on the way up, and give yourself time to really explore the formations. In September, we didn't have the midges (annoying bugs) and we did have northern lights two of three nights there. A soak in the Myvatn Nature Baths was the perfect ending to an amazing day!

Beautiful waterfall, easily accessible. There are a couple of walking paths to explore both sides of the falls. Well worth the trip.

This was really fun! We got to see the "trolls" who turned to stone upon being exposed to sunlight. First, learn about the folklore around Christmas in Iceland and the 13 Yule Lads. Then, let your imagination run a bit when you see the lava formations.

The Lake Myvatn area is awesome. The geothermal area with boiling mud pots and steam vents is interesting. You can take the short walk around them and/or the longer hike above the geothermal formations. Going to Lake Myvatn in September was great--no midges (annoying bugs you might experience in the summer) and Northern Lights!

Fun, easy cave to visit especially of Game of Thrones fans. We also took the walk above the cave where there are fissures and other lava formations.

A short hike up and you see this beautiful crater and an amazing view!

This is an amazing place! You see icebergs floating to the see and ice on the beach.

This activity was a bit out of my comfort zone (stepping over crevasses) and I loved it. Our guide Kari Timsson "Ginger" was great and helped me build my confidence as we walked, explored the issures and an ice cave. The ice cave was smaller than pictured but was very interesting--you could see bubbles in the ice. Kari discussed climate change from the perspective of the glacier over time. Icelandic Mountain Guides offers a variety of tours for all experience and comfort levels--this one was great for those newer to glaciers. Great experience!

The GeoSea baths are great--they over look the ocean, have geothermally heated sea water, pools with different temperatures, swim up bar, and are a great way to warm up and relax after the whale watch trip!

Our guide, Dagur Larusson, made this trip outstanding! It was delicious and fun, informative and he accommodated dietary issues. Loved it!

What a perfect way to end our adventures in Iceland! We went to the Sky Lagoon on our way to the airport. We did the seven step ritual. The pools overlooked the ocean and looked like a lagoon in the lava--just beautiful--probably our favorite of the larger geothermal pools.

Awesome geothermal pools. We changed our reservation to go at night with the hope of seeing Northern Lights from the pool. Although we left before seeing the lights (we saw them later), it was a great experience and it was fun to be there at night.

It was an interesting church (though closed for the season when we arrived). Seeing it from the outside was fine and interesting.

We loved Akureryri! We saw Northern Lights there on two separate nights. One night, we drove up through the forest and found a clearing to see them. After that, we went down to the waterfront and the show continued! We also visited the very cool art museum and the history museum with Nona's house--all worth doing. The walk along the waterfront was great. Our hotel was night next to the iconic Akureyrarkirkja church. Hof cultural center was closed when we got there but it looked like a great music venue. We toured the Botanical Gardens, old town, and saw the amazing town pool.

This canyon is really special. It is not very far out of the way and has several trails to explore the waterfall and canyon. Very nice!

This is a very nice little village with a fun museum. We didn't make it to the Dragsnes hot spring or Djupavik villiage, but we did take a great hike above the town. We also explored the Museum of Sorcery and Magic which was quite interesting. We also stopped by the brewery. Although they were closed for the season for tasting, they were super nice and told us a bit about their establishment. The restaurant across the street from the Guesthouse was great--we had lunch and dinner there.

Isafjorour is a great town! The museum was really fun and the dinner at Tjoruhusid Restaurant next door was amazing! People were very friendly. In addition to exploring the town (museum, library, shops, waterfront), we took a great hike to a waterfall just above the town.

Beautiful waterfall with a very nice short hike that takes you past several other falls. Lovely. A great way to break up the drive. From the top viewing area, the view of the fjord was amazing!

We did not attend this activity. I gave it the three stars only to be able to submit the review. After the drive to the Bolafjall Mountain platform, we did not really have it in us to make the drive to this beach.

We went to the platform during our Northern Lights tour. We also went the following day to see it in the daylight. The view is spectacular though the last part of the drive up there was a bit daunting and much nicer the evening before when Gudmundur Maldimarsson, our Northern Lights guide, did the driving!

This was our first time seeing the Northern Lights! Gudmundur Validmarsson was an amazing guide and showed us really how to see and photograph the lights. He took us up to Bolafjall Mountain Viewpoint Platform which was a perfect venue.

We did not do this activity. I rated it medium only because I had to include a rating to submit the review. This activity was closed weekends and we were scheduled to go on a Saturday. Instead of doing the the extra driving just to see it (without the full experience) we got to the hotel a little early and took a great hike in Holmavik and visited the Witchcraft museum.

Outstanding trip! We saw 2 humpback whales over the course of the trip--one was feeding. The docent was great and informative. The town is super cute

We loved this adventure! Although in September, the birds that nest on Latrabjarg are mostly gone, it was an amazing trip. We got very lucky with our guide, Dr. Gisli Margislason. He was a true local, though has traveled extensively. He showed us family home and points of interest. The red sand beach is fantastic and the museum was great. Gisli's family was among those featured. We watched the documentary about the unbelievable 1947 rescue of the shipwrecked British ship.

Patreksfjorour is a cute and very friendly fishing village. We had an amazing dinner there. We stayed at Hotel West and the owner let my husband play his guitar. We also went to the public pool and hot tubs across the street with a view of the fjord!

We didn't have quite enough time to explore this little fishing village fully, though we saw the lighthouse and its panoramic view of the town and fjord and the church.

Beautiful waterfall! The mountain next to it is also amazing!

The gorge is reasonably easy to get as it is close to the parking lot but wear waterproof boots with good tread if you want to explore it. It is a shorter activity but really lovely

This is a beautiful beach with a few ways down, the remains of a shipwreck, the stones to lift to ensure the sailors were strong enough, and amazing rock formations

Loved this! This walk was beautiful and we were lucky to catch it on a really nice day. Check out the sculpture in Arnastapi. Our hotel--Hellnar Foss Hotel--was in the perfect location for this hike

Nice looking church. We didn't spend much time exploring it as we wanted to have time to do the hike from Hellnar to Arnastapi which was amazing

Reykajvik is great! Besides the shopping streets and great food, we explored the art museum, penis (yes!) museum, Harpa concert hall, sun voyage sculpture, harbor, Hallgrimskirkja church, parliament, the beautiful lake in front of the government buildings, Lemmy pub and Loki ice cream parlor. Our last night, Yoko Ono's Imagine Peace light was lit (October 9-December). Beautiful, clean and friendly city!

Our guide was great--super informative and fun. We did the short hike to the baths and saw a waterfall along the way. The baths are 2 small, natural looking swimming holes of two different temperatures next to a creek. Beautiful!

The cave experience was fun and interesting. There are very few cave formations in lava so if you are expecting stalagmite and stalactities you would see in a limestone cave, well, you won't see them. But the guide was really fun and the experience was great.

This is a beautiful hike. I am giving it only 4 stars because there was a log crossing (round log and a wire to hold onto once you got in position) that proved too daunting for us. So, we hiked back to the beginning and tried to go up the other way which was considerably steeper and while we were there, had 60+ mile per hour wind gusts. Otherwise, it would have been amazing

We saw the Northern Lights!! Wonderful location and Sofia and her husband were exceptionally helpful and lovely to meet and we really appreciated their kindness and friendly natures.

Good location. Interesting views of harbor. Good breakfast. Could be a little cleaner.

The Black Beach Hotel was really nice and one of the hotels we enjoyed the most. The location added to the experience with the breathtaking beach views.

The Hotel Laugarbakki was our least favorite. The isolated location and slightly rundown feel made it less appealing compared to the other hotels we stayed at.

We really enjoyed our stay at Fosshótel Mývatn. It offered a comfortable stay with beautiful views around the Lake Mývatn area.

The Reykjavík Edition was one of our favorite places to stay. Its modern amenities and convenient location in the city were just fantastic.

We were fortunate that when the ring road closed due to flooding, we were staying here and could secure a 2nd night. It was one of our favorite hotels with a great ambience and views from the dining room and outdoor hot tubs. Staff was friendly and gracious and rooms were of high standard and comfortable. We were able to enjoy the Northern lights as well as the sauna, steam room and cold plunge.

We visited the Blue Lagoon early in the morning, which was a perfect way to start our holiday. The early visit helped us avoid the crowds, and it set a relaxing tone for the rest of our day in Iceland.

The hotel was really nice but it was in the middle of nowhere, there was nothing else around.

This trip was a lot of fun, we got to see hump back whales and a blue whale.

This is only for very experiences hikers- there is a log but to get to the log you have to get over a large area of rocks, just hanging onto a wire hand rail. Neither of us went across and it looked like lots of other people did not want to chance it as well.

Very glad that we got there so early in the morning as it got very busy by the time we left.

Friendly staff and nice location. Rooms are small and not well appointed. Shower was small and difficult to access. Breakfast was just ok.

This is a great experience, however the climb to the cave can be strenuous and difficult according to conditions. If you have any difficulty with balance or heights you might skip this outing. Guides are great

Private, clean, comfortable, beautiful property with an amazing hostess/owner. My favorite accommodations, also had the best breakfast!

We had the best tour guide, Alex, he truly made this a once in a life time experience! Alex was knowledgeable, courteous and entertaining to all of the people on the small group tour.

Poor advertised. Instagram photos may have created false expectations. Also, it was unclear that it was an hour ride in. In an hour ride out. The ice cave itself took us five minutes through and out of since it was so incredibly short. It’s incredibly cool and beautiful, but we expected more and wanted more once we got out of the van.

We were expecting to walk more. It was a quick walk in and out. Interesting but felt like a tourist

We stayed at Fosshotel Glacier Lagoon in the South Coast area, and it was a beautiful experience. The hotel had wonderful amenities, including a Northern Lights wake-up service, which was a delightful feature. In an area where accommodations are limited, this hotel stood out as a fantastic choice with its beauty and service.

We stayed at the Exeter Hotel by Keahotels in Reykjavík for our first night. Even though we arrived quite late and left early the next morning, we found the hotel to be satisfactory. Its central location was helpful, and the staff assisted us with information on discounted parking. A particular highlight was the great breakfast buffet. Overall, it served its purpose well for a quick stay in the city.
