Amymone Suites, Nafplio

Stylish boutique hotel with a restaurant and views of the Old Town and sea

Overview

Amymone Suites are located in Nafplio Old Town, offering rooms styled in a minimalist design with modern art, natural fibers and fabrics with earthy tones. There are seven rooms; each one is individually designed. The main perk of the suites is their location in the old town, where you’ll find a warren of narrow lanes packed with traditional restaurants, shops, and curious architecture. However, despite the downtown location, the soundproofed suites are quiet. Guests can enjoy a delicious breakfast spread or grab a coffee from the on-site coffee shop. Although amenities are a bit thin on the ground, you’ll find the staff very helpful and friendly.

Pros

  • Great location in Nafplio’s old town.
  • The suites are elegantly designed with a natural, organic minimalism and modern comforts.
  • Despite the downtown location, the rooms are soundproofed and quiet.
  • You can enjoy a delicious breakfast spread made with local produce.
  • The staff are very helpful and accommodating.

Cons

  • Amenities are rather basic, so you won’t find a pool, spa, gym, or parking.
  • There is no elevator on the property.

Authenticity

Amymone Suites is a boutique hotel in the Old Town that offers easy access to the sites and experiences of Nafplio. The suites are minimalist in design, punctuated by art by Italian artist Francesco Moretti and accents inspired by nature. Each suite is individually designed in earthy tones and features natural materials like wood, stone, and natural fibers.

Location

The port is just a minute away on foot, while cultural attractions like the Archaeological Museum and Peloponnesian Folklore Foundation Museum are under five minutes away. The nearby ancient fortifications of Acronafplia and the Palamidi Castle are within walking and driving distance. Acronafplia is a 10-minute walk or 5-minute drive, and you can begin the ascent up the 999 steps of Palamidi in just over five minutes or drive up to the top in 10.

Rooms & Bathrooms

Each of the hotel's seven rooms incorporates natural materials with the building's aged wood to create cozy spaces. They most comfortably sleep up to two people, and you can book based on your preference of view as they look out over the sea and at the 15th-century Bourtzi Castle, Old Town, and Palamidi Castle. Beds feature a COCO-MAT mattress. You’ll find amenities like a mini-fridge, a safe, WiFi, and a flat-screen TV. Book a room with a balcony to enjoy a coffee there, or head down to the hotel's restaurant to try the homemade breakfast. Each room has an ensuite bathroom with free toiletries, towels, a hairdryer, a shower, and a toilet.

Amenities

The property's amenities are basic, with no spa, pool, gym, or parking on site. This historic building doesn't have an elevator and requires scaling several sets of stairs, so it's unsuitable for those with limited mobility.

Family-Friendliness

Suites on the property are ideal for families, and children of any age are welcome. Baby cribs for infants up to three are available for free upon request. There are no special amenities or facilities for families with children.

Other Highlights

Enjoy a buffet breakfast with authentic local produce and locally sourced ingredients. The selection includes savory and sweet dishes, some local and others international. There is also a coffee shop on-site. Upon arrival, guests get a complimentary welcome drink.

Love Nafplio and loved this hotel. Although admittedly, I was a little worried when we got there and saw all the stairs leading up to our room (which fortunately was on the first floor and not the second floor). The restaurant and the people who work at the hotel and restaurant were both great. There is a free public parking lot across the street and if it is full, there is a much larger parking lot (I think t is actually two parts of the same one) down the street. So you will need to walk a short way with your stuff, but it isn't too bad.

Authenticity & Character
I don't know if it is "authentic," but the space was very chic with lots of character.
Location
Very well located and walkable. The parking situation (and walking with your stuff from parking to hotel) was less than ideal.
Staff
Everyone was very nice and helpful.

Amymone Suites had a great location in downtown Nafplio, but the hotel itself was not particularly special. It was a little small, but that is to be expected in a downtown location. Overall, it was a good option given the location. Read more
