Celebrating Dad's Retirement in Iceland

Group of 15 adults and 8 children looking to visit Iceland in June 2018

“We are trying to plan a trip for our family because my dad is retiring this year. We will have 8 kids ranging in age from 1 to 14, and the rest of the crew is over 20 years old. We usually go to the beach together as a family, but we wanted to do a different vacation. We like adventure, but it would be a benefit if my 5 year old nephew could partake in the activities, or if we could take turns doing the event, so someone can hold the baby.

Summary of the trip planning conversation

Below are some useful excerpts from the trip planning conversation
Preeti:
Welcome to kimkim, and thank you for your request. I specialize in customised holidays all over Iceland and would be happy to help you with a fantastic family holiday next summer.

Are you looking for a self-drive holiday or would you like a private tour with a mid-sized coach and an experienced local guide? We can do both options, the second one might be nicer so everyone can be together.

I'm including a few short itineraries so you can see what is possible in your time frame, and I especially recommend the options with lava caving, Into the Glacier tour, and a boat tour on the glacier lagoon for everyone including the 1-year-old. For Into the Glacier, it is also possible for the older children (6 and above) to enjoy a snowmobile ride (with the adults driving).

Also what type of accommodation would you prefer? Options range from guesthouses with shared bath, star category hotels to apartments.

Jessica R:
Thank you very much for your response. We would want a private tour, so we don't have to worry about driving. For accommodations we would prefer a hotel, or if there is a guest house that is big enough for all of, that would be neat as well. For the itinerary, we would definitely like to do a boat tour, and either snowmobiles or jeeps.

Preeti:
Great! How would the room arrangement be, or how many families are there?

It would also be good to know the ages of the children to see what activities are possible, and also for the pricing. There is 1 years, 5 years and then 6 more.
By jeeps, do you mean the truck which takes people on to the glacier or a super jeep tour?

Looking forward to hearing from you!
