Introducing Nepal

Nepal is a travel destination unlike any other. Visiting this relatively small, mountainous country with its amazing people leaves nobody untouched. Its amazing treks, views, and culture are second to none. Read more

When is the best time to visit?
Spring and fall are Nepal's peak trekking seasons, but winter and summer are becoming increasingly popular, as well. For Nepal's jungle region, Chitwan, the best time to visit is in the winter. Read all the details here

Things to do in Nepal
Nepal has many epic treks to choose from, ranging from a few days to several weeks. Newer activities such as mountain biking and rafting are on the rise. Discover all the possibilities in our overview of the best things to do in Nepal, or browse our growing list of Nepal Tours.

How many days do you need to visit Nepal?
Although 3-5 days is enough to explore the Kathmandu Valley, we recommend spending at least a week in Nepal where you can combine Kathmandu or Pokhara with a short (but rewarding) trek. With more time, you can tackle a longer, more challenging trek that takes you higher up into the Everest, Annapurna, or Mustang region. For any trip over 7 days, you also have enough time to visit Chitwan, Nepal's jungle region, to catch a glimpse of wildlife. Read more

Getting around Nepal
Kathmandu is Nepal's main hub and all of your adventures will begin from there. There's a limited public bus network, but the best way to get around is by private jeep and domestic flight. Learn more about your options of getting to Pokhara, getting to Chitwan, and getting to Lukla, the jumping-off point for Everest. Read more

Kimkim's trusted partners in Nepal organize weekly group departures during the spring and fall trekking seasons, as well as private treks that can run on any date from February to June and September through November.

Langtang Trek - 11 Days

The Langtang Valley has long been a favorite trek due to its expansive views, interesting Tamang culture, relatively gentle pace and accessibility from Kathmandu. The 2015 earthquake and subsequent landslide had an enormous effect on the region, but aid and reconstruction have recently reopened this valley to trekking again. Not only is it still a beautiful trek, your visit will also provide vital support for local livelihoods.

Many say that the view of Mount Everest from Pikey Peak is one of the best in Nepal. That’s a bold statement, but Sir Edmund Hillary himself claimed it to be his favorite, and we're inclined to agree. This trek can be done in three full-on days, or a more leisurely six.

The sparkling, pristine blue and green waters of the Gokyo Lakes are one of Nepal’s most memorable sights. They comprise the highest freshwater lake system in the world, at around 5,000 meters. The Gokyo Lakes trek is ideal for people who want to trek in the Everest region, but who want more variety of views and fewer nights spent at very high altitude.

Here’s a more polished and natural version of your review, keeping a warm but professional tone:

Our guide, Mirta, was truly outstanding. He made the Annapurna journey comfortable and was always looking after us, making thoughtful decisions and pacing the trek perfectly to help us adjust to the altitude. He was very attentive to our needs, and we consistently had the best possible accommodations ready for us at each teahouse. The food at the tea houses was fantastic and the kitchens spotless.
All transfers were punctual and well organized. As a small suggestion, for the long 10-hour drive from Kathmandu to Chame, it would be worth considering larger vehicles. The three of us seated in the back found it quite uncomfortable due to limited legroom. The hotel in Pokhara could use some improvement in terms of logistics, particularly regarding the yoga class. It was offered at a very high price, but the space was not adequate and the mats were not in good condition.
In terms of itinerary, I would consider skipping Pokhara altogether.
Our stay during the last two days in Kathmandu was fantastic and very well deserved. We really enjoyed all the places we visited.
Our stay for the last two days in Kahmandu was well deserved and fantactic, and all the places we visted.
Our guide in Kathmandu was fantastic as well. Sangita planned everything seamlessly and supported us with all logistics. She was there to greet us upon arrival and even came to say goodbye with her family, which was a very thoughtful touch.
As per the packing list for the trek I would add a hot water bag, to fill in at the tea houses to keep the feet warm.
A special mention to the young porters—our hats off to them for carrying all our belongings along such challenging trails.
Mitra, Sangita, and the entire team were excellent.

The shower all though it had hot water was in the same space as the toilet, and sink so when you shower everything gets wet.
Local teahouse / Lodge

All the teahouses were good overall, and the food was fantastic in every one of them. Some offered Western-style bathrooms, which we really appreciated. As expected, the facilities varied—at times there was no in-room toilet or sink, and in some places the latrines were located outside. We understood this is part of the conditions in Nepal and were able to adjust without issue. There is not hot water or sometimes no showers at all.

Mountain Lodge of Nepal Manang

The architecture and location are fantastic. Unfortunately, the temperature inside the hotel was very cold. If this issue were addressed and a proper gathering space were added, I would easily rate it five stars. There was no heating in the hotel, and it often felt colder inside than outside, which made the stay quite uncomfortable. Although the beds were equipped with electric blankets—which we did appreciate—the bedrooms were still too cold overall. There was also no real common area to relax, aside from the dining room. That said, the bedroom design and views were excellent, and the food was great.

The hotel in Pokhara could use some improvement in terms of logistics, particularly regarding the yoga class. It was offered at a very high price, but the space was not adequate and the mats were not in good condition and were smelly, we had some problems with the hot water in the bedrooms, there were accomodating and offered another room to take showers. The staff at the restaurant was fantastic. In terms of itinerary, I might consider skipping Pokhara altogether.
