Overview

Creativity abounds at 7 Islas, a boutique hotel and art gallery in Madrid's vibrant Malasaña neighborhood. The local Kikekeller furniture and interior design studio designed the entire property, infusing interiors with a relaxed vibe. Its chic, minimalist rooms are outfitted with light wood and bright whites mixed with dark elements, unique decor, and abundant indoor greenery. The owner of the hotel hails from the Canary Islands and wanted to bring the sunny hospitality of the "Seven Islands" to the Spanish capital. Location

You'll find 7 Islas in the hip Malasaña district, a historic neighborhood with locally owned coffee shops, vintage clothing stores, artisan shops, bakeries, tapas bars, and restaurants. Since the hotel is only two blocks from Gran Vía, you can easily stroll to famous sites like Puerta del Sol in 10 minutes, while the Royal Palace and El Retiro Park are a 20-minute walk.

Rooms & Bathrooms

Overall, the rooms have a relaxed, calming vibe, mixing light wood and bright whites with the occasional dark furnishing or decor. Bathrooms are clean and spacious with amenities from the natural brand Malin + Goetz. The standard option (called Easy Rooms) is a bit small, so upgrade to a Deluxe for more space. Or, you can opt for the Penthouse, which features a private terrace with sun loungers.

Amenities

Although the hotel has no spa or swimming pool, its industrial-chic lobby doubles as an art gallery. The lobby has plenty of space to relax, peruse the art, or sip a craft cocktail around the indoor fire pits. And when you need a snack or drink, head to the lobby bar. There's no rooftop garden, but you can go up to the rooftop (the hotel has an elevator) to catch views of the city and the Sierra de Madrid mountain range.

Families with children and pets are welcome at the hotel. You can get children's extra beds for a fee, but there are no extra amenities or facilities for kids.

Location was perfect in a trendy area, yet still close to a lot of the tourist activities as well as museums and Retiro park.
Staff was courteous and helpful, and breakfast variety was great.
I took off one star mainly because of:
1) the hotel should really invest in renovating the bathrooms to include ventilation- otherwise the steam and smell is just permanently trapped which wasn’t pleasant
2) if you are staying on a Fri or Sat night the noise from nearby bars at night can be quite loud. Read more

lots of amenities - great bathrooms stocked with toiletries, plush towels and bathrobes, a tub!

right off Gran Via and in the heart of both Malasaña and Chueca, both very cool neighborhoods. Easy access to Metro station.

A great location in Madrid and walking distance to art museums, shopping and El Retiro Park. We enjoyed the hotel's artistic ambience, our quiet and spacious room and the professional and attentive staff. The breakfast room was bright and spacious, with an extensive selection and a barista who makes excellent coffee. Special thanks to Ruben at the concierge desk.
