EME Catedral Mercer, Seville
Charming 16th-century building with a spa, Italian restaurant, and rooftop terrace with Cathedral views
Overview
Pros
- This historic hotel transformed a 16th-century building directly across the street from the Catedral de Seville, so you'll be in the center of it all.
- Enjoy views of the Cathedral from some of the rooms, or head to the rooftop terrace for perhaps the best city views in Seville—perfect for sunset and a glass of tinto.
- You can enjoy breakfast two ways, either at the buffet (which is quite varied and filling) or via the a la carte menu.
- For other meals, you can enjoy the AL LADO Italian restaurant, a cozy lobby bar, and the fantastic terrace bar and restaurant.
- The onsite spa features several different treatment options and a thermal circuit, though you can also swim in the rooftop pool.
- If you like being in a buzzy place, this might not be a con (and the rooms stay relatively quiet), but keep in mind that the hotel is on one of the busiest tourist streets in the city.
Kimkim's Take
Authenticity
EME Cathedral Hotel's 16th-century building perfectly fits its location across the street from the Catedral de Seville. The developers merged a traditional Andalusian design with modern amenities, so you'll see a few reminders of the past, including glass-enclosed iron balconies, stone archways, and wood-beamed ceilings.Location
The location is incredibly central, just across the street from the Cathedral and within easy walking distance of numerous sites, including the Royal Alcázar, Plaza de España, and Torre del Oro, plus near the waterfront. You'll also be right around the corner from several pedestrian streets with eateries and shops.Rooms & Bathrooms
The rooms offer comfortable, clean, modern spaces and include historical elements like brick walls. But if you're looking for that luxurious five-star experience, reserve a deluxe room or one of the suites, which add balconies or private terraces (some with Cathedral views). The bathrooms in the standard and deluxe categories feel outdated and could use a little refresh, but they're spotless and modern.Other Highlights
The rooftop terrace with its incredible Cathedral views is the highlight of EME Cathedral Hotel. The deck has plenty of seating, plus a bar and rooftop pool, so you can laze while enjoying the views. Other highlights include two restaurants (one an Italian eatery) and two bars, plus a spa with a thermal water circuit.Like what you see?
