Only You Boutique Hotel, Madrid

Kimkim team favorite · Comfort
Chic and historic hotel with award-winning decor and multiple eateries

Overview

This might be Madrid's coolest boutique hotel; a 19th-century mansion converted into a stylish, hip, and eclectic accommodation that feels like a resort with so many eateries and common spaces. The lounge was once the old Padrino book shop, and the property holds on to that cozy past. You'll also find a gluten-free restaurant, tapas bar, and a classy eatery with terraced dining. Rooms are colorful and spacious, some featuring private terraces and libraries.

Pros
  • Enjoy the fresh and trendy neighborhood of Chueca while still being able to walk to all the city sites, including Gran Vía, Puerta del Sol, Plaza Mayor, and El Retiro Park.
  • This renovated 19th-century mansion has won numerous international awards for its design.
  • Each of the four onsite eateries has a slightly different feel and menu, featuring elegant dining rooms, trendy bars, and outdoor terraces.
  • Relax in the lobby lounge, once home to the old Padrino book shop, complete with a bar, sofas, and a fireplace.
  • If you're gluten-free, the hotel even has a restaurant for you, Celicioso, which is quite popular with the locals.
  • There's a Thai massage room on the first floor, a 24-hour gym, and a 24-hour a-la-carte breakfast.
  • The hotel guarantees a 24-hour stay, so you can enjoy your room and the property for 24 hours from the time you check in.
Cons
  • Because the hotel's restaurants are so popular with locals and visitors alike, they can feel a little busy at times.

Authenticity

The hotel converted a 19th-century mansion into a property that feels like a maze, in a good way. A local designer styled the hotel and won several international awards in the process. The grand entrance with its mismatched vintage suitcases and bold colors has a different feel than the cozy fireside lounge, once home to an old book shop. Likewise, the inner courtyard dining area has its own vibe, as does the vintage bar. Still, they all channel the building's past into one unique experience.

Location

Step off Madrid's famous avenue Gran Vía and stroll into the hip and stylish Chueca neighborhood. Many travelers overlook Chueca since it's next to young and cool Malasaña, but one could easily argue it has a better vibe. Enjoy local shops, elevated eateries, and picturesque squares while still being in the city's center and within walking distance to sites like El Retiro Park, Puerta del Sol, and Plaza Mayor.

Rooms & Bathrooms

The rooms at Only You Boutique Hotel definitely match the property's colorful, bold, and eclectic style. You'll find ten room categories, all offering bright and spacious units with large bathrooms. Some have iron balconies overlooking the neighborhood, while the loft category features sloping wood-beamed ceilings. Upgrade to superb rooms or suites to add fireplaces, separate living rooms, private terraces, libraries, and even the option for multi-levels.

Amenities

On the first floor, you’ll find a Thai Room Wellness space with Thai and Asian-inspired therapies, such as massages, body treatments, facials, etc. If you want to stay fit, there is a small 24-hour gym equipped with cardio and weight machines and free weights. The hotel is wheelchair accessible and has an elevator that accesses all floors. If you are driving, you can also take advantage of the private garage parking for a daily cost; electric vehicle charging is also available.

Family-Friendliness

Children of all ages are welcome at the Only You Boutique Hotel. Families will find the suites most comfortable; no extra beds or baby cribs are available. Since the hotel caters to adults, you won’t find any specific activities catering to children.

Other Highlights

Celicioso is the onsite gluten-free restaurant (popular with the locals at lunch), whereas the YOUnique Restaurant puts a spin on classic regional dishes and offers an extensive drink menu. Head to cozy El Padrino for tapas and craft beer, and hang out in the colorful YOUnique Lounge with a light snack and drink.
