Introducing Norway

Similar in size to California, but with only five million people, Norway has plenty of open space to explore. Its unique fjords, mountains, and picturesque villages give this outdoor adventure paradise a unique character.

When is the best time to visit?
Norway's latitude, with part of the country located north of the Arctic Circle, creates pronounced seasonal differences. Hike and cycle the Scandinavian landscapes, and experience the midnight sun during summer; go dogsledding, skiing, snowmobiling, and see the northern lights in winter. Learn more

Where to go in Norway?
The go-to destinations for many travelers are Bergen, the charming villages along the world-famous Sognefjord like Aurland and Balestrand, and the scenic Lofoten Islands. A cultural must-visit is the city of Oslo with its many museums and rich history, while Tromsø and Alta are ideal destinations to chase the Aurora Borealis in winter and the Midnight Sun in summer. There are also plenty of ways to experience Norway off the beaten path, with dramatic landscapes and rich culture around every corner.

How many days do I need?
Some visitors breeze through Norway in three days, and while you can quickly tour the country and get a feel for its natural scenery, we recommend planning a week or more to really take in all that it has to offer.

Getting Around Norway
It's common to use multiple modes of transport when exploring Norway. The "best way" to go depends on the region you're in and how far you're going. Ferries are great for witnessing the powerful fjords, while many of the national parks lend themselves well to road trips—and if you're heading all the way to the Arctic Circle, domestic flights are usually the way to go. How to Dress for Winter Activities in Norway

Winter in Norway is as beautiful as it is varied. Along the coast, salty winds meet misty rain and mild temperatures; inland, snow blankets deep forests and mountain valleys; and above the Arctic Circle, crisp nights reveal the northern lights dancing across the sky. With weather that can shift from drizzle to deep freeze in a single day, layering is your best strategy for comfort and warmth. Read on to learn how to dress for a wintry itinerary in Norway.

Taylor was awesome. When we’re planning the trip at one point we lost a hotel room for a night she sent us from Flåm to Balestrand and it was one of the best nights we had on the whole trip. Short stay but one of the most beautiful places I have ever been. In addition, she was so attentive to our needs and the hotels were in the perfect location that adventures and tours were set up perfectly. I will definitely definitely use this group again because they know what they’re doing.

Anna planned an amazing trip for us! She listened to what we wanted even though we didn't really know what we wanted and planned the perfect trip. Norway was even better than expected and the trip was amazing. Anna planned a few activities and gave us recommendations on things we could do on other days but left us lots of time to go off and explore on our own. We ended up adding a few hikes to our trip which we had not planned on doing when originally booking. We had a great time kayaking in Hamn i Senja with our guide Richard. He was very knowledgeable and had great stories to share. Our favorite places were the Lofoten Islands and Senja. We loved traveling with kimkim. Having everything organized in the app so we knew exactly what we were doing each day and had our tickets saved on there made traveling stress free. We would highly recommend traveling with kimkim!

We planned the May trip to Norway in March. The communication was so easy and smooth, with the result being a customized 10-day itinerary that was perfect.

The trip included personalized experiences, the best of which was a guided visit to the farm where my great great grandmother was born and raised before emigrating to the US. It was a truly amazing experience.

Christina, our local contact, was wonderful. She messaged us through the app with additional information, like the schedule of activities on Constitution Day in Oslo, and was available to answer questions.

I loved the ease of the app where we found every trip detail and each attached ticket for transportation etc.

Highly recommend Kimkim. Look forward to planning and booking with them again!
