Summary of the trip planning conversation
It is very nice to hear from you and to learn that you are interested in a 6 day trip to Morocco. You and your group would certainly be amazed by what you would see and experience in this spectacular country.
My name is Larbi and I am a Moroccan, born and bred. I have been working in tourism services for 18 years now. I know my country very well and can readily assist you in developing an ideal tour. You can read more about me in my Profile.
I note that you wish to visit the Sahara; this is very possible. However, as my first draft itinerary suggestion shown below, if you can manage 1 day more then this would make it a more relaxed tour.
Here is a suggested itinerary to get the ball rolling and one that I hope might fit the bill for you.
There are good flights into Marrakech Menara Airport (RAK) from the UK e.g. easyJet from Gatwick (LGW).
Day 1: Arrival into Marrakech Menara Airport; private transfer to accommodation; rest of day in informal leisure. It would be good if your flight arrives in the morning, giving you afternoon/evening time in the city.
Day 2: Private transport and driver from Marrakech to Ouarzazate and on to Boumalne Dades via the Valley of a Thousand Kasbahs and the Valley of the Roses.
Day 3: Private transport and driver from Boumalne Dades to Merzouga and Erg Chebbi (a superb sand sea), the Sahara. Also take in the Todra gorge on this day. As well as a camel ride to view the sunset, you may wish to overnight in a Bedouin tent in the desert (standard or deluxe tents available).
Day 4: Private transport and driver from Merzouga to Ouarzazate (but taking a different route from previously).
Day 5: Ouarzazate to Marrakech via Ait Benhaddou (ancient kasbah) and the Tizi-n-Tichka Pass in the High Atlas.
Day 6*: Departure Day; if your flight is in the late afternoon/evening then have some informal leisure time in the morning in Marrakech; departure flight from Marrakech Menara Airport. NOTE: Travellers are advised to arrive at Check-In 3 hours before departure.
*If you wish an extra day in Marrakech then maybe you could extend your tour to 7 days.
How does that sound? I very much hope that this appeals.
I look forward to learning your thoughts on the above and how, hopefully, you would like to advance you tour planning with Anzal Tours.
Once we have the framework for you ideal tour's itinerary then I can prepare a bespoke and much more informative Trip Plan, describing each day's features.
Many thanks for your inquiry, it is very much appreciated. I hope we can or together to create a very special and memorable tour for you and your family.
Kind regards, Larbi
Thank you for the information. The tour looks exactly what we wanted. We are going to take a morning flight on the day 6 and I don't think we are going to extend.
Roughly, how much would the whole tour cost?
We spent 5 days and 4 nights in Morocco and it was great. One of the highlights of our trip was spending the night in the Sahara desert where we were able to watch the stars by the campfire while also enjoying some local music.
Our trip was spent mostly on the road however which at some points of the trip can feel quite boring. However it is understandable due to the size of the country and the distances we had to travel between each place. Nevertheless, the scenery during the drives were beautiful ranging from rocky mountains, desserts, and valleys. The cities we visited were also very beautiful we visited Ourzazate, Marrakech, and Boulmane Dades.
Our driver was very helpful and very informartive and we enjoyed the trip very much. The accommodation provided by Larbi was of very good quality. We opted for the 3* option and the places we stayed in were very clean and provide very good service.
Some negatives/feedback from our trip:
- we did not get information on the time that our driver would pick us up on the first and last day. It would be more efficient for us and for the tour to provide us this info as we had to ask the hotel manager to phone Larbi a couple of times.
- when we were dropped of in Marrakech by our driver we had to walk to the riad we were staying and our driver agreed with a guy with a cart to take our baggage for 50 dirham. When we arrived I was forced to pay 150 dirham by him.
Despite some minor stuff we enjoyed our trip very much and would recommend using Larbi's services if you are going to visit Morocco.
