Family vacation to Costa Rica with young kids

Family of 2 adults and 2 children visited Costa Rica in April 2017

“We are looking to travel in April during our kids spring break and have the trip either spill into the week before or after. Our kids are 5 &7 and they are well traveled (and travel well) and we are looking to do some more adventure travel with them.

Our focus would be hiking, outdoor activities, and nature. We are looking to check out the thermal springs/Arenal, and the coast near Manuel Antonio Natl Park, and possibly Paos and the cloud forests. I have found that April is a popular time and have difficultly finding good lodging options on the coast. We would also love some feedback on options to travel between the locations.”

Hi Tiffany! My name is Alberto, and I'll be your travel specialist for planning a great trip to Costa Rica.

It's great that you are interested in visiting Costa Rica with your family, I'll be glad to design your next vacation in Costa Rica taking in consideration that you are traveling with 2 kids.

To get started, can you tell me the type of accommodation you will prefer to have. I already have one program in mind visiting the destinations that you mentioned.

Hi Alberto, We prefer higher end accommodations. I've spoken with Tabacon Thermal Resort & Spa near Arenal and Tulemar villas in Manuel natl park. I think it would be cool for the kids to consider one of the tree house hotels. If you have suggestions on other areas in Costa Rica to visit pls share.

Hi Tiffany, thanks a lot for the information. 3 nights near Arenal volcano is perfect and 5 to 6 nights at the beach is great as well.

I recommend to visit the Poas Volcano on the way to Arenal volcano that could also be combined with a visit to La Paz Waterfall Gardens that is a beautiful property with waterfalls and a rescue center, this will be very interesting for the kids. Also, we recommend staying the first and last night in San Jose.

Good morning Tiffany, here you can find the program that we are proposing to your family, this program is to fly in and out of Liberia airport. Please let me know if you have any questions and remember that we can modify each aspect of the program.

All the selected activities can be done by kids, also the activities will be shared with a small group of another tourist, please let me know if you want to have it private.
