Introducing Morocco

Morocco is a vast country, extending from its Mediterranean shores in the north to the desert wonderland of the Sahara in the south. Spend an afternoon sipping tea on a Marrakech rooftop, take a camel ride through the desert, or hike in the snow-topped High Atlas mountains; whatever you choose, you'll love experiencing everything Morocco has to offer.

Where should I go in Morocco?
From the hustle and bustle of Marrakech and Fes to photogenic Chefchaouen and the dunes of the Sahara Desert, Morocco has an incredibly diverse blend of geography, climate, and culture. Each region has its own unique array of activities for travelers to choose from, as well as specific weather patterns to be aware of. Learn more

When is the best time to visit?
Morocco is a year-round destination, though each of its regions has an ideal time to go. Tangier in northern Morocco, for example, has a pleasant Mediterranean climate year-round, while travelers interested in experiencing the Sahara will want to stick to a trip in Spring or Fall to avoid extreme temperatures. Learn more

Things to Do in Morocco

Morocco is full of opportunities for both adventure and relaxation. Take a kitesurfing lesson on the Atlantic Coast, go mountain biking in the High Atlas mountains, or spend a day shopping for rugs and antiques in the fantastic markets of Marrakech. Learn more

How many days do I need in Morocco?
7-10 days is a solid amount of time to explore Morocco's and Imperial cities at a moderate pace. With 2 weeks you can spend time hiking in the Atlas Mountains or explore the coast. With under 1 week, it's best to focus your time: explore Casablanca, Chefchaouen, and Fes in the north, or discover Berber traditions in Marrakech & the Sahara desert. Learn more

Getting around Morocco
Private driver-guides are the best way to travel around Morocco, offering travelers both flexibility and peace of mind. Our trip through Morocco with Mouad was truly unforgettable. From the moment he picked us up in Marrakech, we felt completely taken care of—safe, relaxed, and free to enjoy every moment of the journey. Mouad is not just a driver; he’s a guide, a storyteller, a problem‑solver, and someone who genuinely cares about creating an exceptional experience.

He planned our route with so much thought, balancing adventure with comfort. We explored the Atlas Mountains, wandered through ancient kasbahs, watched the landscape shift into the vast Sahara, and woke up to sunrise over the dunes—each moment more magical than the last. Mouad always knew the best viewpoints, the most authentic food stops, and the perfect timing to avoid crowds.

What stood out most was his kindness and professionalism. He was patient, flexible, and always one step ahead—making sure we had water, adjusting plans when needed, and sharing insights about Moroccan culture, history, and daily life that made the trip feel deeply personal. We never felt rushed; instead, we felt like we were traveling with a friend who wanted us to love his country as much as he does.

Thanks to Mouad, our Morocco adventure was seamless, romantic, and full of memories we’ll carry forever. We couldn’t recommend him more highly.

Dar Rihana Dades
Douar Aït Ouffi

Our stay at Dar Rihana Dades was one of the absolute highlights of our Morocco trip. This guesthouse is a gem — intimate, beautifully designed, and run with so much heart that you feel like a cherished guest from the moment you arrive. 🌄 Atmosphere & Hospitality Dar Rihana Dades is tucked into the dramatic landscapes of the Dades Valley, and the setting alone feels magical. The property is warm, peaceful, and thoughtfully decorated, with cozy rooms and stunning views. What makes it truly special, though, is the hospitality. The team is kind, attentive, and genuinely invested in making your stay unforgettable. 🍽️ The Food — Absolutely Amazing The food here deserves its own paragraph. Dinner at Dar Rihana Dades was one of the best meals we had in Morocco — multi‑course, beautifully prepared, and full of rich, authentic flavors. Every dish felt homemade in the most elevated way, from the fresh salads to the perfectly cooked tagines to the desserts that felt like a final hug from the kitchen. Breakfast was just as impressive: generous, fresh, and full of variety. You can feel the love and pride in every bite. 🧡 **A Stay That Feels Personal** What sets Dar Rihana apart is how personal everything feels. It’s a small guesthouse, so the experience is intimate and peaceful. The staff remembers you, checks in on you, and makes sure you have everything you need. It’s the kind of place where you instantly relax and feel at home. 🌟 Overall Dar Rihana Dades is exceptional — warm, romantic, beautifully run, and serving some of the best food in the region. If you’re traveling through the Dades Gorge, this is the place you want to stay. We would return in a heartbeat.

Riad al Rimal
Marrakech

We stayed at Riad Al Rimal on both the first and last nights of our Morocco trip, and it was the perfect way to begin and end our journey. The riad is warm, welcoming, and beautifully located just steps from Jemaa el‑Fnaa, yet it feels peaceful the moment you step inside. 🌙 First Night — A Gentle Landing in Marrakech After a long travel day, arriving at Riad Al Rimal felt like exhaling. The staff greeted us with genuine kindness, mint tea, and the kind of hospitality that instantly makes you feel at home. Our room was cozy, clean, and full of Moroccan charm. We loved wandering up to the rooftop to take in the city lights and enjoy the quiet after the bustle of the medina. 🌿 **Hammam & Spa — A Highlight of the Entire Trip We booked the hammam and massage during our stay, and it was one of the most relaxing, memorable experiences of our entire trip. The hammam was authentic and soothing—warm steam, gentle exfoliation, and a feeling of being completely cared for. The massage afterward was exceptional, leaving us relaxed, refreshed, and glowing. It was the perfect romantic reset in the middle of our travels. 🌙 **Last Night — A Beautiful Farewell Returning to Riad Al Rimal at the end of our journey felt like coming back to a familiar haven. The staff remembered us, welcomed us warmly, and made our final night in Morocco feel special. We enjoyed one last rooftop moment, soaking in the atmosphere and feeling grateful for such a comforting place to end our adventure. Overall Riad Al Rimal is not the flashiest riad in Marrakech, but it is warm, reliable, well‑located, and full of heart. The staff, the rooftop, the hammam, and the peaceful atmosphere made both our first and last nights truly lovely. We would happily stay here again.

We had a good trip, we enjoyed Morocco, and received excellent service from KimKim. Our local guides were all excellent. Sharif in Fez was highly knowledgeable and professional. The guide who took care of us on our camel trek was so friendly and helpful. We do not recall the name of the two guides who helped us on the ATV trek. They were fantastic. We were not accomplished at driving through sand and they helped us constantly and with good cheer. Sa'id led us on a hike through the 'monkey fingers' near Dades. He knew a lot about the area and was exuberant. That hike is listed in the itinerary as 'easy' and we were a bit concerned that it would not hold our attention as all 4 of us are accomplished hikers. The hike was NOT easy. We walked up-stream and over rocks and boulders. Perhaps Sa'id could see we were excited by a challenge and took us on that route. It was perfect! We needed a bit of help up some of the taller rocks, but all of us enjoyed our experience greatly. Our next local guide was Oosama in Marakesh. He was excellent, knew his history and territory, helpful, and showed us many things.

Our driver/guide was a very nice young man. Your itinerary suggested that our driver would be knowlegable but might have little English language skills. We found his English to be excellent. We landed during Eid and could not visit the great Mosque, so we had excellent alternatives. We visited the Chellah archaeological site. But Samah did not really know about either. He explained we should just enter and walk about. A local guide would have been far more helpful in framing and orienting things. The second stop, which included an excellent place to have lunch, was the Chellah site. Of course our driver could not come with us, but he was also unfamiliar with the site. We were told we would have to buy tickets, but we did not know why or for what. I'm not sure he knew. As it ended up, the Chellah site was absolutely perfect. The archaeological digs were explained in a guided recording and were very interesting. The gardens were nice, and lunch was excellent. But we had no way of knowing any of this before being asked to pay an entry fee. We understand that a driver is not a guide, but perhaps Kim Kim should sponsor the drivers to visit the sites so they know what to tell tourists. The same issue arose when we did visit the Mosque in Casablanca at the end of the trip. Samah had not been there, he took us inside but they would not allow him to buy our tickets (perhaps as he is not a registered guide) but after he handed us entry funds we were really confused about what to do. The ticket seller didn't help at all. We didn't know the museum was right there and free and we could see things while we waited for our formal tour. The formal tour was oddly organized (herding all different language speakers into the same group until we got inside the Mosque itself.) It would have been great to know that. My sense is that Samah will be an excellent driver/guide with a bit of help from Kim Kim in visiting the sites himself, and as he learns more about how tourists think.

The hotels were nice. The food was excellent. The Dades hotel was especially excellent. The staff did everything possible to make our stay wonderful. We did have real issues with the hotel in Marakesh, but a call to Sa'id, our local contact, and everything seemed to be taken care of. Sa'id was really helpful both before and during our trip. He helped make it a great experience.

Palais Sebban
Marrakech

This is a larger Riad then others that we have stayed in. There were a lot of activities happening when we arrived. Upon checking in at all other riads we were warmly greeted and and had a nice welcome. No such warm welcome was made checking in to the Palais Sebban. It set the tone for our visit.

Authenticity & Character
The decorations were amazing the carved plaster, tile mosaics and painted wood gave you a good sense of how these homes were original appointed.
Location
Staff
The first two staff members that we interacted with were horrific. They were inpatient and took actions that we specifically did not want them to do on our behalf. The remainder of our stay the staff were helpful- but with the ability to provide and overall rating, the weak staff pull down the rating.
Cleanliness & Comfort
Our room was near a banquet room and the noise was quite a challenge. There was a wall of windows and doors that faced the inner courtyard with a set of stairs that were used to get to other rooms. The window coverings were inadequate to provide privacy. The room was equipped with a dehumidifier and three aroma diffusers. The scents were overwhelming. The sitting area had authentic furniture but was in need of repair.

This place was absolutely amazing! It is very well appointed. The staff are incredible, a level of service that is way beyond expectations. The food is spectacular!
