Continue onto Goriška Brda wine country the next day to visit family-owned vineyards and taste regional wines. The trip begins in the village of Bled, gateway to Lake Bled, one of the country's most popular attractions. Hike, tour the castle, and sip local wine before moving onto Kranjska Gora ski resort and the central Julian Alps, where you'll cross Vršič Pass and settle in for the night in a cozy Alpine hut. Hike through native forest for an impressive 360-degree view of the mountains the following morning, then descend to the Soča River, nicknamed the Emerald River for its bright green hue.
You'll cycle and hike on day four, exploring the gorges and villages of the Soča Valley before relaxing over a cold beer in the mountain town of Bovec. You'll raft a section of the river the next day before transferring to Goriška Brda wine region. Continue onto Grožnjan, Croatia, the "Town of Artists," riding through the 13th-century Sečovlje Salina Landscape Park.
On day four, you'll see the famous hilltop town of Motuvun on the horizon. Feast on traditional dishes made with truffles from the surrounding Forest of Motovun. The following day, you'll pedal back toward the coast and the 2,000-year-old town of Poreč. Take in views of the Adriatic Sea, Italian Dolomites, and glaciers of East Tyrol on the way back down.
You'll descend to Lake Bohinj the next day, relaxing over a traditional meal at one of the family-run inns in Bohinjska Bistrica. Choose your own adventure on the last full day of the trip, when you'll have free time on or around the lake for swimming, cycling, kayaking, or paragliding.
