Our trip to Morocco was wonderful on many levels. The front-end services that were coordinated through KimKim went smoothly, even though our point person changed right before we left for Casablanca. The local guides and our driver, the intrepid Hashim, were drawn from a tour group called Immersive Morocco, I think. They were all knowledgeable, professional and enthusiastic about the culture and different regions of the country. We stayed inside the walls of the old city in both Fes and Marrakech, which were unique and authentic! The camel camp in the Sahara was a real treat, too. I recommend doing it all!! We also stayed in a renovated casbah. What an experience! It was a lengthy road trip but Hisham knew all the spots to stop, where the cleanest restrooms were located and was able to point out interesting facts along the way. Having a private driver is definitely the way to go!

Riad La Croix Berbère Luxe
Marrakech

Our stay at Riad La Croix Berbère Luxe in Marrakesh was lovely. The exterior was unassuming, but inside it felt like we unearthed a gem. The staff were very accommodating, especially when we weren't feeling our best. We found solace in a nearby rooftop restaurant that patiently served us simple meals as we recovered.

Kasbah Tiziri
Kelaat Mgouna

Staying at Kasbah Tiziri was a wonderful experience, especially with the Canadian owner who was very empathetic to our situation when I fell ill. She kindly offered to let us use her washing machine, provided us with extra paper towels, and even sent us off with some bananas for the journey. Her kindness made a tough time much more bearable.

Riad Farouzi Fes
Fes

Staying at the Riad Farouzi Fes was a delightful experience. When you wind your way through the alleyways of the walled city and a big wooden door opens up into a charming little courtyard with gorgeous tile work and a fountain, it's breathtaking. We really liked it there, and everyone was very friendly and helpful throughout our stay.

Riad Madu Premium Camp

My goodness, we were not expecting a king sized bed, hot water and full-on plumbing in this remote location. Very quiet, comfortable, we were well taken care of. Would have had great night views only the evening was completely overcast.

We had a fantastic week driving all over Morocco and I think what impressed us the most was just how much variety there is! Kimkim did a great job taking care of all the details for us and making it easy & seamless to do so many different things. All of our hotels were great, but the room in Essaouira (Riad Mimouna) was particularly stunning and memorable! We really enjoyed Essaouira and appreciated it being an unstructured day where we could explore on our own. I also want to shout out our Marrakech local guide, Abdella-- he pointed out details we would have never noticed and enriched the walking tour with cultural and historical significance. Moreover, he customized it to our specific interests, taking us to a spices shop at our request with no hesitation. And of course, our night in the Sahara Desert with the camel ride, campsite, sunset & sunrise were just magical.

In retrospect, there were a few excursions that didn't quite meet expectations and/or weren't totally tailored to our interests. It felt like they kept pushing us to buy from local merchants (leather, carpets, silk, oils, etc.), but we were more interested in history than in shopping. We also had much better experiences finding food on our own than in the places they set up for us, which were generally more expensive and had less variety.

All that said, the best part of our experience with kimkim might very well be our driver, Tayeb. He was always punctual, friendly, and professional throughout the trip. I can't imagine trying to navigate through Morocco on our own, through crazy traffic & long drives, and it was so worth it to have someone else manage it for us. But more than that, Tayeb added a lot of unexpected fun and interesting stops along the way! Arguably all of our best meals were on the road at restaurants he picked that we would have never found on our own. They were delicious and very well priced! There were so many hidden gems and experiences he opened up, breaking up the driving time with conversation and humor. He showed us the epitome of Moroccan hospitality and it really felt like we left with a new friend.

Arguably the best hotel room of our lives!!! We had an amazing corner room right on the water! The open windows created the most beautiful background sounds of softly crashing waves. Abdella did such a fantastic job! This is exactly what we were looking for. He explained the art in such detail, helping us understand the "what" and "why" behind the beautiful mosaic tiles we'd been seeing all week. We learned so much in such a short time with him. And then when we said we were specifically interested in going to a spice stand, he didn't hesitate but took us to exactly what we we had in mind. He catered the experience to us and shared so much interesting information along the way. It was great!

This was a total flop. The sandboard didn't move one inch down the sand hill. They didn't take us out to a dune high enough, just handed us an old board to let us walk a few feet within the camp. Dine with a Local Family
Dine with a Local Family
Morocco

This really did not live up to how it was advertised. The family was VERY sweet, and I appreciate them feeding us. But here's how it was described: "When you arrive, they welcome you with smiles and offer mint tea and dates. The father may work in the medina or at a school, and he will proudly talk about Fes. The mother makes sure you feel comfortable. The children may be shy at first, but soon they will come to greet you. Before dinner, you may help a little in the kitchen. The mother can show you how to mix a salad or arrange bread. While cooking, the family asks about your trip, your home, and what you think of Morocco. They tell stories about daily life and their city. Dinner is served at a low table. Everyone sits on cushions." In reality, we sat alone in a silent room while one teenager watched us eat. The mother and father did not speak English at all and thus were unable to converse with us. No one ate with us, the teenager just watched us eat. We paid 650 dirham for chicken tagine, while was paid 120 dirham for the exact same meal at a restaurant. They did not teach us how to cook, we did not sit on cushions, and it was disappointing. But that's not a knock on the family themselves- they were very sweet people!

Guided Tour of Fez Medina
Guided Tour of Fez Medina
Fes

In reality, this felt like more like a guided tour of where to shop than of the history of Fez. We really weren't interested in buying things and thus felt awkward as we were continuously dropped off at another merchant (leather, silk, pottery, carpets, etc). And when he took us to a historic site, he just dropped us off to check out on our own rather than talking us through it.

We’re truly delighted to hear that you had a fantastic week exploring the country and that you enjoyed the variety Morocco has to offer, from your stay at Riad Mimouna in Essaouira to the magical night in the Sahara Desert. It’s also wonderful to know that your Marrakech guide, Abdella, and especially your driver, Tayeb, made such a positive impact on your experience. We’ll be sure to share your kind words with both of them.

We also sincerely appreciate your honest feedback regarding some of the excursions in Fez and other activities that didn’t quite meet your expectations. We’re very sorry that certain visits felt overly commercial or didn’t align with your interests in history and culture. Your comments are extremely valuable, and we’ll review these experiences closely with our local partners to ensure they become more authentic, interactive, and better tailored to travelers’ preferences.

Regarding the family dinner and sandboarding, we regret that these moments fell short of what was described. We’re already taking steps to improve the communication and quality of these experiences to make sure future guests receive the genuine and engaging interactions we strive for.

Thank you again for your balanced feedback and for trusting us with your journey through Morocco. We’re happy that the overall experience, especially your connection with Tayeb, left you with such great memories. We hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you back in the future to explore even more of Morocco, with a fully personalized touch.

Imane was amazing in helping us plan the perfect trip for our family, especially since we were travelling with our 2-year-old toddler. She took the time to get on a call, walk through all our options, and tailor everything to our needs.

Said provided excellent on-the-ground support, always quick to help and solve any issues that came up in real time.

And Karim, our driver, made the journey extra special — sharing stories, traditions, and his deep pride in Berber culture throughout the trip.

Every accommodation we stayed in was stunning, and every stop along the way was thoughtfully chosen.
We couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Highly recommend!

Nihad easily substituted one of my friends in their place, which increased the price only slightly. We started in Marrakech (2 nights at the excellent Riad al Rimal), then traversed the High Atlas Mountains to Valley of Roses (2 nights at the stunning Kasbah Tiziri). We took a camel ride to the desert camp (Sahara Stars Luxury Camp) for 1 night, then went on to Fes (2 nights at the Riad Farouzi Fes). We flew back to Marrakech for 2 nights (again at the Riad al Rimal). We spent our last free day seeing the Jardins Majorelle (spectacular), the Museum of Berber Arts, and the Yves St. Laurent museum.

The high points: observing the traffic in Marrakech (wild!), our lunch with the locals in the Valley of Roses, the camel ride to the desert camp, the stop at the women's cooperative Berber rug shop, every city guide we toured with, and the people of Morocco, all of whom were so warm and welcoming. Kudos to Nihad, who always responded immediately to our questions. And of course Richad, our tour manager/driver, who was invariably pleasant, helpful, patient, and informative.

First, who is Sharon? We never worked with anybody named Sharon to our knowledge. We did work with Marion. We had a lot of back and forth to get the trip that we wanted. It seemed that our requests were overlooked and we had to keep bringing them up.
Arriving in Casa Blanca our driver was not at the airport to meet us. We had to call the given phone number and coordinate the meeting. The driver, who was the first day guide, did not speak English well and was not easily understood. The first day's tour was not as presented, consequently we did not really understand some of the stops. (We stopped at a plaza with lots of pigeons???) It would have been nice to have the driver's name ahead of time. The size of the van was nice.
Rabat--our guide was knowledgeable and gave a good presentation.
Chefchoun--our orientation walk did not happen at first. We were delivered to the hotel and we then asked Rashid, our driver, to give us a quick rundown.
On the way to Fez we stopped at the Volubilis ruins and the local guide, although knowledgeable, was on his phone all of the time. I almost asked him if we were interfering with his day. The restaurant, Roman City, was excellent. The chef, using his mother's recipes presented a great lunch (one of the better meals of our trip to that point). The ruins are ok, but if you have been to as many Roman ruins as we have it was redundant.
In Fez, our local guide was excellent. He had the patience of Job with all of the stops that the ladies in our group wanted.
Regarding the desert camp, we should have prepared a small bag for the overnight and left the suitcases in the van (please suggest this to future travelers). This would have made the transfers much easier and better. The camp was good, our camel guide was great and very nice.
Atlas Mountains-Dades. We stopped at the "Hollywood" movie studios to, take a picture of the outside? We had been in the car for an hour and half or two hours and were expecting a restroom. Nope, we would have had to pay to enter the facility. We did stop shortly down the road after requesting a break. The Eden Hotel was great but we only spent fifteen hours there.
Marrakesh--our guide was good and visiting a Madrassa was educational and brought history to life.
Essaouria--we were supposed to go to a restaurant where we would pick out our fish and it would be cooked for us. This feature was skipped entirely and we missed it (we have done this in other countries and enjoyed it greatly). We found the above restaurants the next day after our cooking class but were too full to have a dinner. The cooking class was well done, shopping, chopping and eating.
Essaouria to Marrakesh--our driver Hallie was early (we left prior to six AM!) and very nice.

General notes:
All of the hotels were very good to excellent and well situated.
We were never informed that KimKim was going to "sell" our trip to another broker. We were surprised to find this out two days prior to the start when we received release forms from Ultimate Morocco. We were disappointed as we thought that you were the actual tour company.
It would be beneficial to future travelers if you gave an idea of the cost of all of the meals that had to be paid in cash. ATM's were usually easy to find but limited in how much cash could be taken out. International banks like BNP Paribas was a great option and we suggest that guides direct guests to these branches.
As with all trips that we go on, adding tips to the package is irritating. Since you give suggestions on tipping, just include the amount and pay the drivers and guides directly.

Lastly, as we stated earlier, our photographs, videos names or likeness may not be used in any social media or posted online.

Hi Kathleen,

I am Sharon, Maryem's supervisor. We both represent the company that executed the tour on the ground in Morocco. I'm listed as your specialist now, because Maryem recently left our company. Both myself and my business partner were regularly in contact with your travel companion, George, to make sure everything was going well with your trip. And my business partner (who manages the on-the-ground operations) was also regularly in contact with your tour manager.

We are sorry that you missed the seafood stop in Essaouira. We will speak with our tour managers to make sure that they help with that in the future. It is normally an optional activity as not everyone wants to do it, but he should've done it for you since you were interested.

Unfortunately, in Volubilis, the guides are employed by the site itself and although we try to get the best English speaking guide available for our guests, that is something that we cannot always control.

But it does sound like a lot of your trip was enjoyable and we are happy that you enjoyed your private guides in Rabat, Fes, and Marrakech.

Thanks,
Sharon

All the accommodations were very nice. I had prefer to stay 1 night only at the Sahara desert camp, since it was not clear to me that we were not able to stay in the camp during the day and what was available to visit was quite limited. I did enjoy the Skoura hotel, that was a nice place to relax, after the long drive.
Also maybe look more into the places to eat when out on the road. Maybe there are not a lot of options, but it seems that the places chosen were more geared towards regular tourist, since the menus were limited and/or fixed price menus.
The guide we had in Fes, Moustafa, was excellent, my favorite of the trip.
You have a beautiful country & I enjoyed it very much!

Our trip to Morocco, arranged through KimKim, was absolutely wonderful from start to finish. We have traveled extensively and have had all kinds of experiences. Everything on this trip exceeded our expectations.

Our private driver and guide, Mohammed, was outstanding — thoughtful, knowledgeable, and truly went above and beyond to take care of our every need. The vehicle was very comfortable, and traveling from city to city felt easy and enjoyable.

Every riad and desert camp we stayed in was beautiful, comfortable, and full of authentic Moroccan charm. It’s hard to choose a single highlight because the entire experience was amazing — from the camel ride and desert night in the Sahara, to exploring Fez and Marrakech, to the cooking class we loved so much.

We had the special opportunity to share meals in local homes, which were among the most memorable moments of our journey. Visiting synagogues, mosques, and learning about Morocco’s rich blend of cultures — Berber, Jewish, Christian, and Muslim — left a lasting impression. We also enjoyed hikes in the countryside, a visit to the Majorelle Gardens, and a relaxing hammam and massage, which felt heavenly after all the walking.

Most of all, it was the warmth and kindness of the Moroccan people that made this trip so special. Every person we met welcomed us with open hearts and genuine smiles.

We can’t recommend this experience highly enough — Morocco captured our hearts, and we’re already dreaming of returning.

I took a fair amount of time working with Yassine, then Louis, to put together a first visit to Morocco that captured all I wanted to see and appreciated their input in offering ideas, suggestions or modifications to help arrive at what I felt was the trip I wanted to take.

I saw the highlights of Casa Blanca, Rabat, Chefchaouen, Fes, the Sahara, Marrakesh and Essaouira. The guides I was paired with were wonderful - Zahra in Fes, Mohammed in Marrakesh and guides used to explain things like the ceramics and leather in Fes, the rug making process, and about argon. During down time, I wondered around the medinas near my riads and felt totally safe.

I went to Morocco solo and was assigned a driver for my trip, Said, who took good care of me. I could not have asked for a better driver who saw to it that I was where I needed to be on time, spoke fluent English, and enjoyed sharing information and answering questions, along with providing some additional suggestions or ideas for stops along the way. Said helped make my trip, that covered a lot of country and time on the road to see what I wanted to see, a huge success. My trip could have been very different depending on the personality of my driver, since I had so much time with the driver. Said was the best, he definately made the trip what it was, and our time on the road flew by. I'm very thankful to have had him as my driver.

I have used kimkim twice now and been very happy with the results. Kimkim takes time and effort to help create a trip catered to me and my interests.

La Claire Fontaine
Marrakech

La Claire Fontaine in Marrakesh was very high-end with accommodating staff that were willing to assist with anything. A mishap occurred with some of my shopping bags due to multiple people handling them, which led to a couple of items being left behind. The guys felt so bad about the bag left behind and so wanted to correct the situation, they even sent me clips for their video system to show what happened and how the bag got missed. We were all trying to understand how a bag that was clearly put in the cart got left behind or missed. There was complete transparency with them and very responsive to emails. Lessons I learned here were 1.) Inspect the bags brought to my room, make sure all are there 2.) Better yet, before having bags brought from car, put any shopping bags in luggage, leave no stray bags. Many things lead to this oversight - spa appointment, 4 people handling bags, very short time at Claire as I left at 3am and only had 6 hours there, they were busy, of course, with other guests, etc. Lessons were learned by all, and they were great. Despite this, the staff were incredibly helpful and over-the-top responsive in addressing the situation. It was a fancy place that went above and beyond with its service. Claire Fontaine was so nice. I wish I had extra nights to stay there.

Ouarzazate

Caravane in Ouarzazate stood out as exceptionally nice with wonderful food. The staff were super helpful, making my stay very pleasant. Their assistance and hospitality were truly commendable. I wish we had more nights to stay here.

The Barceló Anfa Casablanca was extremely nice, exceeding my expectations. The breakfast buffet was particularly fantastic and offered a wide variety of options. This hotel set the tone for the rest of the trip with its high-end feel and excellent service.

Our trip to Morocco organized by Kimkim was the one of the best trips we ever did. The planning with Abdellah was seamless. He helped us decide on various activities and places and made good suggestions.
Everyone who helped us on our trip was professional, knowledgeable and warm and friendly. Our driver Mustapha was excellent. He was a very safe driver, knowledgeable about locations and shared a lot of knowledge about the country and environment. He always had fresh bottles of water each day and offered several convenient stops throughout the day. Our guides in Fes and Marrakech were helpful in the market and knowledgeable about the sights. Our guides for the hikes at Akchour and Imlil Valley were knowledgeable and shared great information about the area and the Berber people. Our time at the camp in the desert was very memorable. The staff at the Tiziri Camp were wonderfully warm and friendly and took time to share more about their culture which we loved. The music at night was especially wonderful. Our time in Marrakech was a favorite. People were very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed walking around and also did a cooking class at La Maison Arabe. It was excellent and we are excited to practice at home. The staff at La Maison Arabe was outstanding. The last day we went to lunch at the Selman Hotel and saw the stables of Arabian horses. It was a very special experience. All our hotels throughout the trip were excellent and chosen by Original Travels.
The person we worked with once the trip was planned, Said, at Original Travels was wonderful. He communicated with us well and was quick to respond to any request we had especially for the last day.
We highly recommend Kimkim for travel and Original Travels and Said as the person to work with during the trip. We highly recommend Kimkim and Original Travels.

Riad Salam Fes is a beautiful hotel with excellent service and fantastic food. However, our room was located directly beneath the patio dining area, leading to early morning and late evening noise due to chairs scraping above us. Despite this, the overall experience was pleasant. I would recommend requesting a room further from this area for a quieter stay.

Morocco is a beautiful country with changing and impressive landscapes, towns full of history and friendly people. One of our best experiences was the stay in the Sahara desert. The staff of this operation who handled the camel ride, the stay in the desert camp, the dinner, the evening entertainment and the ATV ride in the dunes was very personable and professional. Tour guides in the cities were knowledgeable and spoke good English. We especially liked our guide in Fes, Moustafa. Hotels and riads were comfortable, cozy, and conveniently located. The problem we encountered in some accommodation was plumbing in showers. Other than that, staying in riads was very interesting and special.
We are very thankful to the Original Travels team for making our trip enjoyable and memorable!

Everywhere we traveled, we had excellent accommodations and pretty good food in most locations. Our driver, Soufien, was very accommodating, very kind, funny, and an excellent driver - always on time and with a fresh cold bottle of water for each of us!
A few highlights (and lowlights):
1. Chefchaouen was a very interesting and beautiful smaller city - Our terrific local guide Ali took us on a hike to the Bridge of God, which was great but the extended trip to the small waterfall (no water in the large waterfall) ended up being a little too strenuous and steep for us, in the heat of the day. But we made it!
2. Our guide in Fes, Moustaffa, was the very best of the whole trip. Informative and funny - a good story teller. A highlight was the visit to the mosaics/pottery - amazing!
3. Camel ride on the Saharan Dunes at the sunset. Epic! great guide and a great nighttime experience at the Desert Camp with very nice staff, food and evening entertainment. Recommend this is a one night experience only, though we stayed for 2 nights. Uninteresting day-time guide and not much to see/do (and no English).
4. One overnight stop at a beautiful resort on the way to Marrakesh. (could have stayed here 2 nights)
5. Balloon ride over Marrakesh for our friend Rosa - Another Epic experience!
6. Interesting walk through the city with our guide, Mohammed. He was well versed in his history and walked quite fast for my short legs (although I wasn't feeling too great this day). 2 of us opted out of the food tour because we were not well, leaving one who didn't eat meat. In general, Food tour - Not a good choice for the end of the trip (and same guide).
In summary, We had a fine trip, overall and covered a lot of territory (4 long car travel days)!

My mother and I recently returned from an unforgettable 12-day trip through Morocco with Morocco Immersion, and we can’t recommend this experience highly enough. From start to finish, everything was seamless, meaningful, and beautifully organized.
Our driver and tour manager Ali was truly exceptional, a wonderful guide and even better person. His kindness, enthusiasm, and deep love for Morocco made every moment special. He ensured everything ran smoothly, filled each day with laughter, and introduced us to the country through his own genuine passion for its culture, people, and landscapes. By the end of the trip, it felt like traveling with a friend.
We were also fortunate to explore Fes with our local guide Rashid, who brought the city’s winding alleys, lively markets, and ancient monuments to life with fascinating stories. In Marrakesh, our guide Ali (different from our driver!) led us through the vibrant Medina, sharing layers of history as we walked, it truly felt like stepping back in time.
One of our most cherished memories was our sunset camel ride into the Sahara Desert, followed by a magical night at our desert camp, a once-in-a-lifetime experience we’ll never forget. Another highlight was visiting Boumalne Dades, where we learned to make traditional couscous and shared a meal with Ali’s family. Their warmth and hospitality were deeply touching and gave us a glimpse into the heart of Moroccan life.
Throughout the trip, we were continually amazed by the beauty and comfort of our accommodations, from riads filled with light and intricate details to stunning kasbahs surrounded by nature. A special mention goes to Kasbah Tiziri in Boumalne Dades, with its beautifully renovated interiors and incredibly kind owners and staff, and to Riad Chems Bleu in Essaouira, a true hidden gem with sun-filled rooms, a serene courtyard, and breathtaking views from the rooftop.
Every part of this journey reflected the care and authenticity that Morocco Immersion puts into their trips. It was an experience that combined culture, adventure, and heartfelt human connection. The kind of trip that stays with you long after you return home.

Dear Bruke,

Thank you for taking the time to share your wonderful review! I’m thrilled to hear that you and your mother had an unforgettable experience during your 12-day trip to Morocco with us! I’m pleased that everything went beyond your expectations, from the smooth organization to the meaningful connections you built along the way.

Thank you for your kind words about our team, particularly Ali, your driver and tour manager, and your local guides, Rashid and Ali. It's wonderful to hear that they made such a lasting impression on you.

Your highlights of the trip - the sunset camel ride, the desert camp, and the experience in Boumalne Dades - are all testaments to the incredible experiences that Morocco has to offer. I'm so glad that you had the opportunity to immerse yourselves in the local culture and connect with the people and landscapes in such a meaningful way.

I also appreciate your kind words about our accommodations, particularly Kasbah Tiziri and Riad Chems Bleu. We carefully select each of our properties to ensure that they reflect the beauty, charm, and hospitality of Morocco. It's wonderful to hear that they met your expectations.

Thank you again for trusting us with your trip. We're honored to have been a part of your journey and look forward to welcoming you back to Morocco in the future!

Nihad, Ali & the rest of Morocco Immersion family!
