Siora Vittoria Boutique Hotel, Corfu

Aristocratic 19th-century townhouse-turned-boutique hotel, with family-owned charm, elegant interiors, and al fresco breakfasts

Overview

This 19th-century townhouse has been owned by the same family for over a 100 years; today, it's a small boutique hotel that welcomes guests with just nine rooms and suites spread throughout the lovingly restored three-floor property. All units feature modern touches like luxury mattresses and marble bathrooms, and some include tiny balconies and sea and fortress views. Though Corfu Town's Spianata Square and the Venetian Old Fortress are just a few minutes away on foot, the Old Town setting is surprisingly peaceful—especially the garden terrace where breakfast is served under a magnolia tree.

Pros
  • You'll be surrounded by the Venetian architecture of Corfu's UNESCO-listed Old Town, with landmarks like the Old Fortress just minutes away on foot.
  • The 19th-century building has been beautifully restored, and the elegant rooms feature custom furniture, luxury mattresses, feather pillows, and marble bathrooms.
  • Some rooms include tiny balconies or far-reaching fortress and harbor views.
  • The hotel is steeped in island history, owned by the same family since 1900 and named for their beloved grandmother.
  • Breakfast is a highlight, with lots of island-grown produce and homemade treats served on the terrace under the shade of an ancient magnolia tree.
Cons
  • Some rooms are on the small side; for more space, upgrade to a Deluxe Double or one of the suites.
  • All floors are accessed by staircase, so this isn't a good choice for travelers with limited mobility.

Authenticity

With its salmon pink facade and green shutters, this grand Venetian-era townhouse looks straight out of Corfu's historic past (or an episode of "The Durrells"). The listed building was built in 1823; at the turn of the century, it was bought by the local Metaxas clan and has been passed down through their descendants ever since. Island hospitality and heritage are everywhere—each of the nine rooms is named after a family member, a bottle of local kumquat liqueur awaits guests at reception, and the lovingly restored interiors showcase original neoclassical features like oak floors, French windows, and beamed ceilings.

Location

The hotel sits deep within Corfu's UNESCO-listed Old Town, tucked down a quiet side street. You're just three minutes from the Liston, a promenade lined with outdoor cafés and restaurants tucked under Venetian arches; a few minutes more takes you across the green spaces of Spianata Square and into the Old Fortress and the historic Mandraki Harbor. Stroll four minutes north to Theotoki Square to hop on one of the buses that run to towns and beaches up and down the coast. If you're arriving by car, you'll need to find street parking or head to one of the Old Town's public lots.

Rooms & Bathrooms

Nine air-conditioned rooms and suites are spread throughout the main building and an adjoining annexe. All are decorated in a simple, elegant style to let the 19th-century architectural features shine—with pale colors, custom Italian furniture, luxury Dunlopillo mattresses, and marble bathrooms with rainfall showers and Apivita toiletries. Classic Doubles overlook the garden (with tiny iron balconies), while Deluxe Doubles offer more space and Old Town views. Suites add fainting couches and Nespresso machines. Book the romantic top-floor suite for vaulted timber ceilings and postcard sea and fortress views.

Amenities

You won't find the amenities of a large hotel at this petite townhouse, but the included breakfast is a nice touch, served buffet-style with both continental and local options like island-grown fruit, thick Greek yoghurt, and spinach pies. In warm weather, you can dine on the terrace under the shade of the ancient magnolia tree; there's a bright indoor breakfast room for cooler and rainy days. Guests can also make themselves at home on plush leather couches in the lounge (an ideal spot for a predinner drink). The small, local staff is another perk here—expect a warm welcome and attentive service.

Family-Friendliness

Children are welcome, though the hotel's small size and romantic setting mean it tends to be more popular with couples. Families can book interconnecting rooms or opt for the ground-floor two-bedroom suite, complete with a small private garden terrace.
