One of the most historic areas of Granada is the city's Albaicín neighborhood, the old Moorish quarter with origins in the 11th century. Perks of staying in this area include charming and twisting cobbled streets, endless history, and incredible viewpoints. The best Albaicín hotels in Granada offer historical quarters, views of the Alhambra, and the advantage of being in the middle of the action.

If you want your first steps outside the hotel to be on the historic Carrera del Darro, which follows the small river at the foot of the Alhambra, Shine Albayzin is the place for you. The city's energetic buzz is at your doorstep, and you can easily walk to all the sites in the Albaicín neighborhood, plus the Catedral de Granada and Alhambra Palace

This standard hotel is a renovated 16th-century house with preserved elements, like its inner courtyard and wooden balconies. The cozy lounge in the courtyard is the perfect place to relax when needing a break from sightseeing. It offers stone floors and seating, plus it connects to one of the city's best specialty coffee bars, which also serves breakfast.

Rooms are spacious and charming, especially the suites, which offer seating areas, large windows, and beautiful views of the Alhambra. Many rooms also have iron balconies, some overlooking the cobbled streets and historic bridges that cross the river and/or with Alhambra views. The best room in the hotel sits on the corner of its top floor, with vistas of the famous palace and the forested hills.

Hotel Casa 1800 Granada

Historic and spacious rooms (photo courtesy of Hotel Casa 1800 Granada)

Hotel Casa 1800 Granada lets you sleep in a 16th-century Arabic house, once home to lords and counts. You'll find many hidden nooks on the property, where you can relax and enjoy the history, such as a Castilian doorway, a grand staircase, and Mudejar influences in the courtyard. Enjoy a breakfast buffet in a charming lounge and dining area, where you'll also find complimentary snacks and drinks in the afternoon.

The hotel is just across the narrow and trickling Darro River from Iglesia de San Gil y Santa Ana, putting you right along the scenic cobblestone river walk Carrera del Darro. You can easily wander through the neighborhood's twisting hillside streets and visit sites like Casa Horno del Oro and numerous viewpoints. If you want to check out other neighborhoods, the Catedral de Granada is less than 10 minutes away by foot, and the Alhambra is about a 15-minute walk.

A small boutique hotel, Casa 1800 has just 25 rooms and suites, all featuring beautiful historic elements like wood-beamed ceilings, antique furnishings, and wainscoting along the walls. Some have iron Juliette balconies, seating areas, and private terraces. As one of the best hotels with Alhambra views in Granada, choose a room facing the historic palace. Bathrooms are spacious and modern with Molton Brown luxury toiletries.

Hotel Casa Morisca

Historic home turned boutique hotel (Hotel Casa Morisca)

Hotel Casa Morisca is an award-winning hotel in Granada, honored for its impeccable restoration efforts. You'll stay in a beautiful 15th-century Moorish house and enjoy breakfast in its downstairs cistern, so you can really appreciate the city's unique past. Relax in the traditional inner courtyard and marvel at its preserved elements, including tiled flooring, wooden balconies, and stone columns.

The rooms match the property's history, offering beautiful quarters with antique furnishings, tiled floors, and wood-beamed ceilings. We recommend booking early to secure one of the top-floor rooms with vaulted ceilings and truly incredible Alhambra views (some with Juliette balconies). The standard rooms have windows opening up to the inner courtyard, so you won't get any views, and this design can make the rooms noisy during the day. The bathrooms are small and a little outdated, but they might charm you with the vintage tiling.

The location is ideal if you want to be in the Albaicín neighborhood yet close to the Darro River. The hotel is steps away from the Paseo de los Tristes with river and Alhambra views, plus a park and several outdoor cafés. You'll also be within walking distance of many sites, including the Sacromonte neighborhood, Catedral de Granada, and all the best viewpoints. But if you want to further explore the region, Hotel Casa Morisca offers free parking right at its entrance, a rare find in the old Albaicín neighborhood.

Palacio de Santa Inés

Another option with Alhambra views from the room (photo courtesy of Palacio de Santa Inés)

Palacio de Santa Inés gives you a quiet option in the buzz of the Albaicín. The hotel used two 16th-century Mudejar buildings to create its space, and you'll notice several preserved elements, including wooden terraces in its traditional inner courtyard. The top-floor lounge is definitely a highlight, as it features comfy sofas and a vaulted glass ceiling, so you get those perfect Alhambra views. There's also a simple breakfast buffet that transforms into a bar in the afternoons.

The hotel's architecture is stunning, but the rooms feel a little left behind, especially the standard category. We recommended booking early to secure an upgraded room or suite on the top floor with views of the Alhambra (some with private enclosed terraces). Bathrooms follow the simplicity but are bright and modern. You might like the family rooms with lofted sleeping areas if you're traveling with older kids.

The hotel feels tucked away with its own little square in the Albaicín, though just about one block from the busy Carrera del Darro. You can easily walk to all the city's main sites, including the Catedral de Granada and the Alhambra, plus enjoy all that there's to see in the Albaicín and Sacromonte neighborhoods.

Hotel Casa del Capitel Nazarí

Simple yet cozy and historic rooms (Hotel Casa del Capitel Nazarí)

For standard yet historic accommodation, Hotel Casa del Capitel Nazarí is a good option. The hotel is in a restored 16th-century palace with original wood ceilings and other historical elements, plus an ideal location in the Albaicín neighborhood. You'll enter the hotel through a brick archway and wooden door and enjoy features like Tuscan and Roman columns with Corinth (Greek) adornments, Arabic chromium-plated beams, and Renaissance-era wooden ceilings.

Rooms are simple but maintain a few historic elements, like wood-beamed ceilings, tiled floors, and iron bed frames. Most have windows overlooking the inner courtyard, so opt for a superior room for more space and natural light, and families can book rooms with three or four twin beds. Bathrooms are just as simple as the room, yet clean and functional.

The location and building history are the hotel's biggest appeals. You'll be right in the Albaicín neighborhood and within walking distance of sites like Iglesia de San Gil y Santa Ana, the Alhambra, the cathedral, and the Darro River walkway. As an additional perk, you can also enjoy a decent breakfast buffet and relax in the inner courtyard.
