This was our second time booking with KimKim, and the experience exceeded our expectations. Maryem, our coordinator, was exceptional—always responsive and attentive to our needs, tailoring our itinerary perfectly to match our preferences.

Our Marrakech walking tour with Amnay was a delight; he was knowledgeable, engaging, and friendly, making the vibrant city come alive for us. The trip to the breathtaking Ourika Valley was another highlight, offering stunning views and an unforgettable stay at the serene Inara Desert Camp.

The true gem of our journey, however, was Essaouira. The peaceful, picturesque atmosphere of this coastal city provided the perfect ending to our trip, leaving us thoroughly enchanted. Our guide, Hicham, was also outstanding—friendly, professional, and an excellent companion throughout the experience.

We couldn't have asked for a better way to celebrate our anniversary. Thank you, KimKim Travel and Morocco Immersion Tours, for helping us create such incredible memories!

Villa Beldi
Essaouira

Our stay at Villa Beldi Essaouira was absolutely fantastic. Located just outside the medina, the peaceful setting adds to its charm, offering a tranquil escape from the hustle and bustle. The lush garden and inviting pool area are perfect for relaxing, and we often found ourselves tempted to spend the entire day by the pool. Our room was spacious, spotless, and tastefully decorated, with a comfortable bed, soft pillows, and excellent WiFi connectivity. Breakfast was a daily highlight, especially the delicious crepes and amlou, which we eagerly looked forward to each morning. The staff were friendly, attentive, and always ready to assist. Overall, Villa Beldi provided a serene and memorable stay, and we highly recommend it to anyone visiting Essaouira!

Inara Desert Camp

From the moment we arrived at this stunning desert camp, we knew we were in for a treat. It was our first time staying in a desert camp, and we only wished we had booked more than one night! The tents were spacious, beautifully decorated, and equipped with all the amenities of a standard hotel room. The bed and pillows were incredibly comfortable, and air conditioning in the tents added to the comfort. The staff were friendly and attentive, making us feel truly welcome. While the WiFi connection in our tent was spotty, we had no trouble connecting in other parts of the camp. Dinner was a delightful three-course meal, and the evening concluded with mesmerizing stargazing—a highlight of the experience. Overall, it was an unforgettable stay, and we can’t wait to return for another magical night in the desert.

A charming riad nestled in the heart of the medina, just minutes from Jemaa El Fnaa Market and key monuments. The staff were pleasant and respectful. While the room was clean, it felt smaller than expected, with a comfortable bed but hard pillows. Breakfast was typical Moroccan fare—decent. The rooftop, however, was a peaceful morning retreat, complete with a jacuzzi we unfortunately didn’t get to try.

Most of the trip was wonderful. Our driver Ayoub was amazing. A friend by end of the trip. Our Fes guide Sharif was also very knowledgeable, as was Siad in Marrakesh. We enjoyed and learned from them both.

However the accommodations were mostly unacceptable. Our first one in Chefchaouen was good, but Fes and Marrakesh were very disappointing. My thoughts? Deluxe hotels were indeed selected, yet our rooms appeared to be the worst available at both locations, Fes and Marrakesh. We peaked in to other rooms to see what they were like and they were so much nicer. We felt exploited. After spending so much money to go deluxe, and then be given 2nd rate rooms, was a slap in the face. Our room in Fes even had someone’s sheets on the bed. When we pulled down the bed to go to sleep, hair was all over the sheets the sheets, and some stains to boot. It took an hour to get someone up to change them which ended up being a waiter and desk girl…not their jobs. The shower door didn’t close, and the toilet wasn’t bolted to the floor so teetered when used. I do not consider this deluxe accommodations. It seems there are so many parts to KimKim getting pieces of the pie, that the intermediary people take advantage of us vacationers by selecting cheap rooms so they can pocket more profit.

Beautiful riad, well situated, fabulous staff and restaurant. Our room was one of the least comfortable, very awkward layout, with steep stairs going from front door (after climbing about 3 flights already) down to the actual room. It did have two wonderful terraces, but the room was strange, with a shower and sink opened up into the bedroom, and a tiny bathroom cabinet. It was very narrow, like a wide corridor. Friday nights are enchanting with a trio of musicians and a belly dancer, plus unique meals served just that night. I was sick so the staff prepared a concoction every night of honey and lemon and ginger to help me sleep.

Pros: Very nice staff and beautiful ajoining Riads, and rooms when I peeked into other rooms. Very good location. Con’s: Dirty room. Hair on sheets when we pulled bed down to get into, plus some stains. Shower door that didn’t close. Toilet not well bolted to floor. We were given the cheapest room in the Riad after paying deluxe prices. Small and dark. Filthy rugs. Awkward to get to room, with lots of stairs. Not enough tables to accommodate diners so had to eat by ourselves outside. It was cold.

Hi Carol,

Thank you for sharing your detailed feedback. While we are glad to hear that much of your trip was wonderful and that Ayoub, Sharif, and Said enhanced your experience, we regret to learn about your concerns regarding the accommodations. Please allow me to address this matter clearly and thoroughly.

The hotels selected for your trip are the same properties we have consistently used for other travelers who have rated us highly, contributing to the 500+ excellent reviews on KimKim (4.9 rating), 120+ on TripAdvisor (5.0 rating), and 85 on Google (5.0 rating). These properties are known for providing high-quality service and have been a reliable part of our deluxe offerings. However, we understand that your experience with the rooms in Fez and Marrakech did not meet your expectations, and for this, we sincerely apologize.

It is crucial to clarify that our primary commitment as your travel provider is to deliver an exceptional and seamless experience, and we take this responsibility with the utmost seriousness. Every detail of your trip is planned with transparency, care, and dedication to ensure the highest quality of service. While we recognize and value KimKim’s role as a platform facilitating connections between travelers and trusted providers like ourselves, any suggestion that resources are misallocated or that exploitation occurs is entirely unfounded and misrepresents how we operate.

We pride ourselves on maintaining the highest standards of professionalism and integrity, as reflected in the overwhelmingly positive feedback we have received from hundreds of satisfied travelers. Accusations of such practices are not only inaccurate but also undermine the effort and dedication of our entire team in delivering the best possible experiences for our guests.

It is important to recognize that room preferences can sometimes vary, and while occasional issues may arise, they can often be resolved quickly with simple communication. This is why we encourage all our guests to share their concerns in the moment so we can act swiftly to ensure their comfort.

In Marrakech, we even offered you a complimentary upgrade to a Prestige Room at the riad as a gesture to ensure your comfort and satisfaction. Typically, when guests encounter issues with their rooms, we address them immediately. If necessary, we do not hesitate to change rooms or even move to a different hotel entirely to provide the best possible experience. Our operations manager checks in daily with our guests to ensure everything is going well, and in your case, we were informed that all was fine. A quick message about any dissatisfaction during your stay would have allowed us to rectify the situation immediately and enhance your experience further.

Thank you again for bringing these concerns to our attention. Your feedback helps us continue improving our services, and we are committed to ensuring your future experiences are nothing short of exceptional.

Regards,
Hamza

He was fun to spend time with, provided music, laughs, a wealth of information, gave great recommendations for restaurants, etc.. and was extremely attentive to details. For example, we casually mentioned that it would be nice to have a glass of wine with dinner. Miraculously one showed up at our table at the desert camp as a totally unexpected treat. The local guides in Rabat and Fes were exceptionally good, both personable and knowledgable.

As often is the case, in my experience, some of the highlights of the trip were unplanned, lucky happenings: First, in Fes, we were told about restaurant Nur. Traveling in the shoulder season, we got a table and after a 2 hour, 8 course meal, the chef ( world famous Najat Kaanache) came and sat with us, talking for over an hour! Then, in the desert, it rained! While we are used to rain home in Seattle, it was a total surprise in Erg Chebbi, but it made for a fabulous night singing around the campfire, talking to Ahmed about life and the upcoming birth of his second child, and eating Fatima's delicious food.

The home visit was a pleasure and something I was glad we did. And to end at Riad Elegancia in Marrakech was perfect! Winding down with that luxury, the hamam and cooking class day, was a perfect ending to the trip.

Same for Hanan in Marrakech, our female guide who brought us to the Bahia Palace and through the Jena el-Fnaa square and taught us about the history of this beautiful city.

And last but not least, Tayebb, our driver and friend! Great company. Thanks a lot for taking care of us and having a lot of patience. You really made the trip very easy and fun! You were very supportive and took care of any logistics which allowed us to really enjoy our time there. We’ll miss you!

Our guide/driver Mouad picked us up in Tangier. We could not have had a better match for our personality. Mouad was thoughtful, kind and funny, and listened to “what WE wanted to do” , even after our tour ended, he made sure we were safe and not to hesitate to reach him if we needed anything - which was a huge plus for two senior females in Marrakech! Our only regret was not having KimKim arrange for our 3 days to Merzouga desert - the company we hired was horrible - the driver had zero interest in what we wanted or did he care.

I’m sorry to hear about the discomfort with the sleeping arrangements in Rabat and will pass this feedback along to the Riad to help improve their service for future guests. Your comment about the separate beds being improperly prepared is certainly something I’ll address to avoid similar issues.
As for your Merzouga Desert experience, I regret to hear that the other company did not meet your expectations. I’m confident that had we been part of that leg of your journey, I could have ensured the same level of care and attention you experienced with Mouad. Thank you for bringing this to my attention, and I hope to have the chance to assist you with every aspect of your travels next time.
I truly appreciate your trust in our team and look forward to helping you plan future adventures!

Do not use Hakim as a travel advisor for your trip to Morocco.

I have used Kim Kim to book two other trips and have been pleased with each of the travel advisors, who knew what they were doing and provided useful and actionable advice. In particular, if you are going to Iceland, Gummi is a great trip advisor.

Hakim was unable or unwilling to provide helpful advice for this trip. In answering questions, he would typically reply with flowery, formulaic messages that had no substance and didn’t answer the question. It’s like he didn’t know what he was doing or couldn’t think of suggestions. I got the sense that he didn’t care about making the trip for us; rather he wanted us to follow a set pattern. He didn’t listen. In the end, we did our own research and made our own decision without his help. Hakim was of little assistance.

Given my experience with Hakim, it is unlikely that I will use Kim Kim again.

Dear Ray,

Thanks a lot for your review!

I appreciate the time you dedicated to leaving your feedback on my own services, but it's so unfortunate that you didn't share any comments on the great activities we provided to you during your trip to Morocco and the two accommodations we selected for your stay in Marrakech and Dades.

I understand your feelings, but I remained committed always and with great pleasure to answer all your valuable questions, except a few ones that were related to accommodations/services you booked on your own which I asked you to check directly to get written responses from the suppliers to keep proofs on your hands.

I also checked with you during your time if everything was going as planned and if you were enjoying your trip. You read the email but didn't answer. For me, it was a sign that everything was going great; and I'm confident your trip has been amazing.

I'm glad your previous experiences with the other local agents were great. Kimkim is always choosing the best, and we're all here to provide unique experiences and to satisfy our trusted travelers like you; travelers who trust and choose us again and again.

I have used KimKim before, and liked certain things about it, but learned a few things from the last trip with them and was able to communicate all the things that are important to us to Majid. He was very easy to work with on the details and specifics and planned a great itinerary combining both his insights with our requests. The most important part, being pairing us with the best guide possible. If I could always have Mouad as a driver/guide, or I could transport him to all future trips elsewhere, I would 100% of the time. He made sure every detail was to our liking, let us know he could edit timelines and travel plans as we wished as we went along on the trip, and was able to navigate all of our plans and desires perfectly. He went way above and beyond the entire time, always giving us tips, insights, helpful knowledge and so much more. There was nothing he would say no to, and no problem or need he couldn't solve or provide. There was just the right amount of activity and the logistics for a big trip were all seamless. I would use this team for any planning on Morocco!

This was the only detail of our journey that could have been improved. The tour started off well, with a good stop for soup and some history on the woman making it, but only included one other street food place and then a very mediocre restaurant (which I would not have picked out as there are many way more interesting ones). I would say this needs improvement - there are tons of interesting dishes to try and we didn't really get a good overview and sampling. Luckily our driver/guide made up for that by leading the way on other parts of the trip.

The trip highlight is the desert, unbelievable! The day it takes to drive there and the day it takes to drive back are worth the experience. The best meal was on Dades. Marrakesh great city we spend extra days in it. I would stay outside the Medina since the "regular" hotels are within walking distance from it.

We had an amazing time during our trip to Morocco. From when Mouad picked us up at the airport until the end of our time with him, he was amazing and constantly checked that we were happy. His English was good enough that we could have great conversations about the countryside we were driving through, he made sure that we were always comfortable and had anything that we needed. We would highly recommend him as a guide for anyone wanting to see the country as he drove us from Tangier to Chefchaouen, to Fez, to Rabat, to Casablanca and then to Marrakesh. The riads that we were booked at were, for the most part, quite amazing. Beautiful old places and the staff went out of their way to make us happy. Except for one place - the riad in Rabat. We had requested two beds and instead of separating the two beds that made up the king size one (which would have meant they would have to remake the beds) they left us with the king size and a very uncomfortable couch in the sitting room area. We were so tired that night, we didn't even have the energy to eat, we just collapsed. We were very unhappy about that experience. The guides that we had in Fez and Marrakesh who took us around the city and through the medinas were very very knowledgeable about the history of everywhere they took us. Two of our highlights were the hammam that included a massage and dinner with a local couple in their home where we had a lively discussion and learned a lot about the day to day life of people in Morocco. We would unhesitatingly recommend KIMKIM as the company to use in your travels and Mouad especially. He went out of his way to ensure we always had everything we wanted/needed.

Our trip to Morocco via KimKim was truly magical and probably one of the best trips of my life (including 25 other countries visited so far)!! This was my first time traveling via a travel agency and with a guide / driver and I cannot recommend KimKim, Majid or our amazing guide Mouad enough!! My heart is so full after this trip and our experience with them! Morocco is a beautiful country with kind people, amazing food, adventure, relaxation, shopping, art, music and more. Majid did a great job organizing the details of the trip and providing recommendations so our itinerary had it all!

Once we arrived to Casablanca, we were met at the airport by our fantastic guide Mouad who's big smile, great sense of humor, attention to detail and thoughtfulness truly left a huge impression on our group. Mouad was an extremely safe and organized driver. We could relax and have fun because we knew he had everything handled. He frequently broke up our longer drives for "great stops" along our route which allowed us to really get a feel for the beautiful people, culture and cuisine of Morocco that we would not have found with out him. Some of my favorites stops were to get fresh squeezed pomegranate juice, prickly pears and oranges from local farms, coffee from roadside vendors, freshly shucked oysters right from the ocean, assorted Moroccan cookies from an amazing bakery, henna tattoos from a local village, hikes along the sea and mountains, etc. Mouad is DEFINITELY who you want as your guide! He is positive, funny, knowledgeable, easy going, and he has a gift for reading people and assessing their needs. He flexed perfectly from giving us great information on the country, being our hype-man when we were having fun and excited, finding anything we needed (ice, medicine, a birthday cake, etc), and creating a calm environment when everyone wanted to relax in the car. He also invited us to his family's home for lunch in the desert which was a heartwarming experience that I'll never forget. He helped us get a special birthday cake in the desert, play a prank our on friend in the Dedas Valley and he helped us change our plans a few times so we could stay in the best places (with the best rooms) and be sure to see Essoueria which was our favorite! Our trip to Morocco was full of so much laughter, adventure, learning and love all thanks to Mouad!

My favorite adventures of this trip were wandering the narrow medina streets in Fez, hiking with monkeys in the Atlas mountains, riding camels, ATVs and 4x4s through the Sahara desert, dancing to Gnawa and Tinariwen music at the desert, camp, meeting Mouad's family in Rissani, shopping for a custom leather jacket and Berber rugs in the Atlas mountains, relaxing at the Hammam in Marrakesh, laughing and eating together, trying street food in Essoueira, and galloping down the beach on horseback in Essoueira. Thank you to KimKim, Majid and Mouad! <3

Hi Maren!!!

Thank you for your glowing review! I am absolutely thrilled to hear that your trip to Morocco was such a magical and memorable experience—it truly sounds like the adventure of a lifetime! Your kind words about our team, especially Mouad, and I am so glad that he have made your journey seamless and extraordinary.

It’s wonderful to hear how much you enjoyed the diverse beauty and culture of Morocco, from the stunning landscapes to the warm hospitality of its people. Mouad’s efforts to ensure your comfort, safety, and unique experiences clearly left a lasting impression, and I couldn’t agree more about how exceptional he is as a guide. It’s heartwarming to know that he went above and beyond to create those special, personal touches like introducing you to his family and organizing unforgettable moments such as the birthday celebration in the desert.

Your detailed highlights—wandering the medinas, riding camels in the Sahara, enjoying fresh local treats, and galloping along the beach in Essaouira—paint such a vivid picture of your trip. It’s amazing to hear that Morocco offered everything from adventure and relaxation to art, music, and cuisine, and that it resonated with you so deeply.

Thank you for trusting Under Moroccan Sun & KimKim with your first guided travel experience. We’re honored to have been a part of such a meaningful journey and can’t wait to help you create more incredible memories in the future! Wishing you endless adventures ahead! ❤️

Younes our driver and guide was very helpful and made us feel at home and kept looking out for our needs. Will def give him 5 star rating. The hotels and riad we stayed were gorgeous and the spa we ended our trip with was amazing. The whole trip was a charming experience.

This trip beat our expectations by a mile. Hassan was very good with listening to the experiences we asked for before the trip and delivered. We were also able to add things to our itinerary during the trip seamlessly. Our driver and car organized by Hassan was clean, always on time and comfortable. Our guided walks/tours in both Fez and Marrakech were so informative and fun. We saw so much in a week, without feeling like it was rushed. I would recommend Hassan again 100%.

Trip to Morocco was unforgettable. Megan provided excellent service and answered our every question in a timely manner. Thank you Megan! Our first exerience with a local guide was not as pleasant. Our ferry was delayed and the first words out of our guides mouth was, "I've been waiting for 3 hours". We were tired, hungry and traumatized by trying to navigate our way to the ferry and then find him and didn't appreciate his negativity. However our guide for the week more than made up for it. Kamir was EXCELLENT! He tended to our every need and made us feel safe and comfortable in a very unfamiliar place. He shared his vast knowledge with us and tried his best to teach us Berber and Arabic words. He was very patient and kind, I can't say enough good about him. He really helped us navigate the unknown and was very reassuring the whole time. Thank you Kamir!!! Our Fez city guide was also very good. I think his name was Kamir. My only complaint is that I would have preferred the city tour be more about the history and the sites rather than the heavy emphasis on shopping. Karim Boutellaka was our guide for the Atlas mountain hike and he was also EXELLENT! We learned so much from him about the forest and he even insisted on sharing his lunch with him. He is an amazing guide and very kind and patient man. Sara at Wanderlust was also very helpful. She jumped in when we were considering a moumtain bike trip but unfortunately illness prevented us from taking advantage of her planning. The dessert was incredible and quite an experience. I can't get over the night sky and the quiet of the dessert. The camel ride was fun and the camels were very sweet and mellow. There is so much beauty in Morocco and the people are so kind! It was a great experience.

I did not like the way the driver drove from the drop off point to where we started our camel ride. He drove like a madman over the sand dunes, very bumpy and unpleasant. The camel ride was great. Not the most comfortable mode of transportation by hey, it's a camel ride in the dessert! Our guide was very kind and helpful. My favorite part was the night sky after all the lights in the camp were turned off. Incredible! We say the milky way, shooting stars and a planet. In addition watching the sunrise and sunset was amazing!

I'm glad Kamir decided to hike with us because our guide spoke little to no English. It would have been much less pleasant if Kamir wasn't with us. Also, we were told the hike to God's Bridge was under water. We spoke to other tourists the next day and find out that was not the case. I would have liked to hike there too.

Hi Sue,

Thank you for the review! We truly appreciate you taking the time to send us any feedback and thoughts. I'm sorry to hear you had a bad experience with your first driver; we'll make note of this for the future. And we'll also make note of the heavy emphasis on shopping during your tour of Fes. Kamal (our tour guide there) usually receives many requests to help travelers buy handicrafts, so this may be why the tour steered in that direction.

Thank you again!

Rabat was a very clean more modern city on the Atlantic coast, but basically felt like a filler destination. I wouldn't go there again.
In Marrakesh, we enjoyed the very comfortable and beautiful Riad Chergui with the french influences of its owners, and had a fantastic small group food tour around the central square and in the souks and many more hours wandering through the markets the next day. Overall, we preferred Fes to the much larger, noisier, congested, and polluted Marrakesh.
Our final destination was a luxe tent "camp" in the Agafay Valley desert some 40 kilometers south of Marrakesh, with photo-op camel ride. All guests were well-heeled international tourists, if that's the kind of company you travel to Morocco to be with. The dinner meal was exceptional; I probably wouldn't do this again, ever.

The area that Kimkim should most consider upgrading is their advice on tipping. Tipping is basically expected everywhere. Kimkim's brief guide was not that helpful and in many cases was outdated. I fretted most about tipping our driver and guides. Apparently a 10% tip is standard and acceptable, but what we actually paid our driver and the various guides was buried in the overall fee paid to Kimkim. That information would have made our trip much more pleasant for me.

We appreciate your honest feedback on Rabat and the Agafay Valley desert camp. While the luxurious tent experience and the dinner meal were fantastic, we understand that it may not be for everyone, and we value your perspective.

On the other hand, my sincere apologies for any confusion around tipping. Your valuable comments regarding the tipping guide are very helpful. We’ll certainly review and update our recommendations to ensure they are clearer and more current for future travelers.

Again, I appreciate all your valuable insights. Everyone on the team is glad you had an unforgettable trip. Hopefully, we'll have the chance to welcome you again in Morocco soon!

He took us to local restaurants, off the beaten path, where we could experience local food at the places where locals eat. He got very good guides in the cities that we didn't have. He was always happy to answer any questions and advice on how to improve our experiences in Morocco. His advice, warnings and recommendations were priceless.
We felt very safe traveling with him even in the most remote areas of the country. It was a great experience.
I highly recommend Younes. If we return to Morocco we will definitely look for him to be our driver/guide again.
