I want to hike the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu in October

Traveler visited Peru in October 2017

“I want to hike the inca trail to machu pichu. I'm in good shape and am looking forward to it. Live at 8300' in Colorado, so I'm used to the altitude.

I am into a group hike in order to meet more folks. I want a guided trip so I get the most out of the experience.

I'm an experienced backpacker and hiker”

Hi, we'd be happy to help with this and add you to one of our group departures for the Inca Trail. Permits are only available for the end of October at this point - would that work for you?

Traveler
Hello, I can go the end of October!

Can you help with booking flights? What days should I book my flight for (there and back)?
Please let me know the dates of this excursion and when and where to fly to, etc.

Also, what can i do to secure my spot?

Alex Buri
Great that you can make it for October. I'm going to invite our local specialist to join us to provide you with exact dates, price, and how to go about securing your spot on the trek.

We handle domestic flights in Peru, but we don't book international flights. Let us know if you'd like us to book your domestic flights for your trip once we figure out the dates.

Expect another reply back soon from our specialist.

Best,
Alex

Hi, my name is Evelyn and I am the travel specialist based in Cusco, Peru.

Permits for the last weeks of October are still available, we have groups confirmed on the following dates: October 22 (187 permits left), October 24 (20 permits left), October 25 (97 permits left) and October 29 (415 permits left).
I would recommend to book soon in order to secure your space for the Inca Trai.

The price of the 5-day Inca Trail for this year is US$ 775 per person and includes transportation to the start of trek, all meals, camping equipment, double occupancy tents with Thermarest sleeping pads, English speaking guide, porters who will carry gear (8 kilos x person) and a first aid kit. It also includes a guided tour of the citadel on day 5, lunch that day and transportation from train station to hotel.

It does not include permit for the Inca Trail (US$129); hotel in Machu Picchu Village on the 4th night and return train ticket (Machu Picchu Village to Cusco).

We can book the hotel in Aguas Calientes, please let me know which category your prefer to provide options. An standard 3-star hotel is around US$ 90 per person based in a double accommodation to give you an idea.

We can purchase the return train tickets as well, we don't charge any extra besides the price shown in PeruRail website, there are two options:
Expedition train that departs at 3:20PM (US$ 117 per person)
Vistadome train that departs at 4:43PM (US$ 135 per person)

In order to book and purchase your permit, I need your information (full name as written on your passport, passport number, date of birth and nationality).

We also require a deposit of the 50% of the total amount of the trek, I can send you the link to complete the payment once you choose your date.

Regarding the domestic flight, I can check the rates having the specific dates, but they cost US$ 400 approx per person for the round trip (Lima - Cusco - Lima)

Please let me know if you have any further question, I will be happy to help you.

Best regards,
Evelyn

Traveler
I will choose the October 25th permit/trip, if possible.
Please send me the link so I can pay the 50% down.

Please get me my hotel, return train and the domestic flight from Lima-Cusco-Lima. I will get my part done this weekend.

Do you have a gear list for trekkers, etc.?

Evelyn Casallo
That is wonderful!

Currently only 87 permits left for the 25th, as soon as we receive your payment and information we will be able to purchase your permit.

I will be in the office for the next hour and a half and I am out for the weekend, if we can't complete the purchase today, we will do it on Monday morning.

We will purchase your permit and include it in the total. You don't have to worry.

I would recommend to secure your permit first and the purchase your domestic flights.

I have attached our packing list for the trek.

Please confirm which train you prefer, Vistadome or Expedition to proceed with the booking.

Traveler
Thank you, Please book me on Vistadome train

Evelyn Casallo
I hope you had a great weekend!

We received your payment and your permit was sucessfully purchased. You are confirmed for the 5-day Inca Trail.  I will add the Vistadome train ticket to your booking as requested.

If there is anything else I can help you with, please let me know. I am here to help you.

Best regards,
Evelyn
