We loved the bike tour!! I think this was one of my most favorite parts of our trip! We never would have done this without the guide. We biked all around a lake plus got to take a short ferry ride. Our guide took us into some small villages to show us some lovely old churches. We saw a stork! I highly recommend!! A must do if you go to Zakopane area!

The entire trip was truly spectacular. There was one major, glitch, but Mieke responded very quickly. And they even refunded us for the mistake. I thought that was the right thing to do and they responded immediately. That to me is very important My tip is always check the train schedule, apparently they change it without any notice. We missed our first Eurostar train, but the conductor of the second time slot was nice enough to let us on and even gave us free drinks because we were so frazzled.
Other than that , everything went well. We love staying in Haarlem. Such a wonderful little town and everyone is so friendly and accommodating.. The Canal tour was great and the Anne Frank house was extremely interesting, very somber, but something you had to see.
We loved loved loved our grand Dutch Food Tour with Mark, he was amazing. It was so nice that it was private, just the three of us. Actually, all the tours were private, which made it really a lot better than being in a group. We tasted foods I would’ve never tried, and they were quite good,. What we love the most is he took us to places that tourists do not frequent. It was such a treat. I thought four hours would be so long, but he made it go by so quickly. That was truly a highlight of the trip.
Going to Keukenhof was also a highlight, it was so beautiful, you couldn’t help but smile.. love love love those gardens. Even though they were closing in two days, it didn’t matter we saw some absolutely stunning tulips as well as other flowers in bloom.
When we got to Bruges we had a 2 PM walking tour, but we were late because of all the mishaps along the way and the tour guide. Roland was very accommodating and pushed it back an hour for us. For us, the tour guide was a little boring as was the tour. The content was nothing we were interested in. He spoke a lot about the construction of the old buildings and the bricks and stones that they used. It just wasn’t for us. Perhaps someone else would’ve found it interesting. After we were done with that tour, we roamed around the city and had such a good time. We took a horse and buggy ride, we had a canal tour, we loved the Canal tours. We did a beer tasting and got very silly.
Sunday we went to the Choco factory museum, we found that very boring. I wouldn’t suggest going there. We skipped our day trip to Damme so that we could walk around Bruges but little did we know most of the stores are closed on Sunday, but we made the best of it.
Monday we went to Ghent, our tour guide Veerle was wonderful, she was so informative and had a lovely personality. We really liked her.
After that, we went to the Galvesteen Castle.
Part of it was interesting, but we went through it quickly, it was a little boring for us.
We really really loved the Canal boat tours, we actually took four of them during the entire trip.
I’m sure I left some things out but all in all we had an excellent time and beat the Dutch travel and Mieke we’re great. I would definitely use them again.

We spent 14 days touring Turkey with KimKim We had never done a privately guided trip before and found it to be very worthwhile. Zehra did an excellent job in suggesting an itinerary which included all the highlights of the country. She selected hotels in each locale, diverse and well located, each a different experience.. Our guides in each locale were excellent and knowledgable and adjust the schedule to avoid the crowds in the busy destinations. Lunches were in local restaurants highlighting the local cuisine . We would like to recognize Betul in Istanbul, Gozde in Cappadocia, Senem in Ephesus and Uraz in the southern coast and Antalya. Each provided a great tour in their respective locales.
In country travel, including 3 flights and transfers, was dependable and on schedule and Zehra quickly responded to questions during the trip.
Our trip included 3 days in Istanbul (we would recommend the Street food Tour and a visit to an Hammam), 2 days in Cappadocia (we would recommend the Hot air balloon ride and underground city tours), 2 days in Sirince with a tour of Ephesus and Pamukkale. Two relaxing days on the beach near Fethiye. A guided trip along the coast to Olympos and a day in Antalya.

Our trip to Spain was everything we had hoped for. It was a celebration of our time together. We enjoyed Madrid more than we thought we would having a great hotel, Catalonia Gran Via and 2 wonderful tours, Geza was perfect and the tapas tour was so much fun and delicious. Our day trip to Toledo went like clockwork. Manuel or Manny was one of our favorite tour guides. He made us feel like friends immediately and hugged us when he left us at maybe our best restaurants of the trip, La Cave. We loved all our train trips through out Spain. Seville made us feel like we were really in Spain. Carlos gave us a fabulous tapas tour introducing some new specialties. Carolina was maybe the sweetest tour guide. She was great. Our hotel, Sacristia de Santa Ana, was a great location but our least favorite of the trip. Granada was another even better than expected. Gabriela was a fabulous tour guide for the Alhambra. She could answer every question and you felt she really enjoyed her job. Equally impressive was Marta, our city tour guide, so delightful. Our hotel, Villa Oniria, was maybe the nicest hotel we have ever visited and certainly the best for this trip. Malaga was a bit like South Beach but had a wonderful food scene. Our hotel H10 Croma was very chic and perfectly located. Our day trip to Ronda went perfectly. Our driver was prompt and the ride was smooth. Ronda was what we expected but is overrun with tourists. Lenora was a very good tour guide and recommended probably our favorite tapas restaurant of the whole trip for lunch. Don’t have the name but was the oldest in town she said. Our ride to the airport was waiting when we checked out of the hotel. Loved our trip. Thank you all.

I have commented on the actual hotels and excursions on the trip details section of your web site. The trip that we went on was very enjoyable. We stayed in quality hotels, enjoyed amazing excursions to interesting temples and other tourist attractions. All our transfers were completed by professional drivers driving new vehicles. They arrived on time and always contacted us the night before to confirm details. The guides we had were both very impressive and did excellent jobs guiding us to the various sites we attended.
While the overall trip experience was very well done, we found the planning part of this to be frustrating at times. At one point we were prepared to walk away and went so far as to investigate this same trip with one of your competitors. Our agent, Shona, while knowledgeable and capable, also complicated the planning process. One of the items we requested was to have guided escorts into/out of the train stations in both Tokyo and Kyoto. This was agreed to by Shona and we promptly paid for our trip. We then spent the next three weeks re-negotiating this. It had been agreed to and paid for and three weeks later we were still talking about it. My wife and I were both happy that we did not let this drop. After being in both train stations, the escorts reduced our stress levels a lot by taking us to the proper spots to meet up with our train
or taxi. On several occasions we reconfirmed information that had already been provided. While saying this, Shona was spot on during our trip. She confirmed driver details and followed up on all excursions to check on our experiences. She was present and involved and committed to ensuring that our trip was a success.
So overall, my wife and I found some of the planning to be frustrating, but, in the end we had this amazing trip with many good memories. I would still go back to Kimkim for future trips and I have passed on your company name to friends to help them with their travel needs.

The two young men sent by ATET, the car rental service in Ljubliana,
I particularly commend. We were dropped off at the wrong dock in Venice, and our internet had gone down. We were getting pretty frazzled and more than a little frustrated. Luckily, we were able to briefly establish contact with Nikola, whom I believe contacted these ATET employees. These two young men told us not to move, they would come to us. They found us, and not only completed our car rental, but sought out an electronics shop that sold us a SIM card needed to solve our internet issues. They installed the card, giving us internet access back, and then provided an escort until we were on the correct highway to our destination. Exemplary service!

Nikola was in touch with us frequently throughout our trip to Slovenia, problem solving minor issues and providing recommendations and guidance.

Nikola is superb, and a huge asset to whomever he works with. Keep him happy, because he certainly kept us happy! Thank you, Nikola!

Penzion Berc
Bled

Pension Berc is an island of elevated tranquility in an already sublime setting. From there, we were able to walk into downtown when the occasion warranted. We checked in very late our first evening, and were met by Rojer-aay. (My apologies for the phonetic spelling.) We were tired and rushed, but he made us feel welcome, checked us in, took our bags up and showed us our room, and then appeared as our waiter in the attached restaurant! (I secretly believe he was cloned, but he wouldn't admit to it.) The room was "quaint" as my wife put it, with a rustic appeal, and super strong water pressure. A remodeled farm; redone very effectively. Having the attached restaurant was a huge advantage. We intended to eat elsewhere the second night, but got so tired we defaulted due to being tired. Much of the menu was expensive due to it being a steak house, but the vegetable risotto and other menu items were reasonably priced and very tasty. All in all we were truly impressed, and would recommend Pension Berc to all travelers to beautiful Bled.

Authenticity & Character
Nicely remodeled farm with a long history with the same family.
Location
It is perched on a hill in the oldest part of the village, but has easy walking access to Bled town proper.
Staff
Rojer-aay (Apologies for the phonetic spelling.) Was a jack-of -all-trades, serving as our consierge, bell hop, and waiter all in the space of 10 minutes!
Cleanliness & Comfort
Just a nicely done -up room.
Grand Hotel Union
Ljubljana

Our reservation was changed from Grand Hotel Union to Hotel Cubo. My review is of the Hotel Cubo, not the Grand Hotel Union. Hotel Cubo is a wonderful location, with easy access to the highway system and close to the river and the town center. It's modern/minimalist design is interesting, but the room decor is just starting to show some signs of wear and tear. Nothing awful understand, but just getting to the point of making an impression.

Authenticity & Character
Interesting modern/minimimalist design elements.
Location
Centrally located. Good access to highway system, and easy walking distance to river and Central downtown.
Staff
All staff were most accommodating, but Nates (Apologies for the phonetic spelling) went above and beyond to help us problem solve.
Cleanliness & Comfort
Seemed well cleaned. Some initial signs of wear and tear beginning to show.

Suggestions for improvement, and please understand they are minor: it took her awhile to understand my wife's slower traveling pace, but once she understood why, she was most accommodating. I didn't have enough time to take pictures from the watchtower atop the castle, but this was due to scheduling friction between a video presentation and the extra time picture taking would have demanded.

He was very flexible in crafting our tours to our needs and interests. He was extraordinarily helpful in answering our questions, giving us tips and advise and even going out of his way to stop at a local craft market when we asked if there was one close by. Our food tour, trip to the market and our picnic was simply unforgettable! Angel's expertise and efforts made our trip extremely memorable and I cannot recommend him more highly. Finally, in Rapi Nui we cannot say enough about the Celebrate with the Locals experience, which was a sunset dinner on the beach prepared by a local family. We truly felt like part of the family and the food was incredible! You cannot miss this experience! Overall, we had a delightful trip and are happy with the service we received from KimKim.

When I started trying to plan my first international trip, I was overwhelmed to say the least. How many days, how many stops, what activities to do? Finding the KimKim website was just whatI needed! I started exploring premade trips for inspiration, then a quiz about the things we like to do, to receiving a custom trip itinerary from Rita. After the initial itinerary, working with Rita to get our trip into the price range we wanted, the dates that worked best, and all the stops and activities we could fit was a breeze (even with time zone difference).

There is so much history in Italy, and so many places to see. We started in Lake Como, which was calmer and helped us to get ready for the rest of the trip.

In Venice we started with a food and wine tour with Beatrice from Streaty Venice. These food/drink tours have become a must do on our trips going forward. Trying the local food, in this case cicchetti, and seeing the area with a guide that is excited to tell you about where they live can't be beat. The food was plentiful and the pairings were nicely done and everyone should be eating (and drinking if you partake) like a local!

In Florence, exploring the city and the wine windows was a blast. Florence was bigger and busier than our previous stops. I can't tell you how nice it was to have our guides pick us up from our hotel. A day trip to the Tuscan hills, Siena and San Gimignano was beautiful and worth a view--maybe even worth a day or two! Hearing the history of the city while walking around and seeing "David" was more of an experience than I expected. (even for an artist). Possibly my favorite activity of Florence was a private (advertised as a small group) Tuscan cooking class, in the home of a local woman named Donatella. Learning to make food like a local is something we will talk about for a long time, and the recipes we look forward to recreating over and over now that we are home.

Making a traditional Neapolitan Pizza from dough to wood oven in Naples, another "small group" that ended up as a private class is another highlight of our foodie, with a side of history trip. We saw Pompeii, had lunch at a winery, and hiked Mt Vesuvius. (don't be fooled in the heat, this is a hike. Wear appropriate clothing and know what to expect-there is little shade in Pompeii or on Mt Vesuvius). Pompeii was a surprise, it was so much more interesting and grand than I could have imagined. Paestum is another interesting spot, though a much longer drive than Pompeii from Naples, but worth it if you like ruins.

Sorrento weather was beautiful and the views and lemons are to die for. We did a Limoncello and Lemon Marmalade activity in Positano with Valenti that was a highlight. Again learning to make limoncello and lemon marmalade was really fun, but learning about the family history and trying some many other lemon flavored goods was out of this world. I can't wait for my delicious treats to arrive from the amazing little shot, we can't wait to make limoncello at home too!

So many memories made, and I can't thank everyone we met or the KimKim team enough. We'll definitely be reaching out for a future trip, but until that happens, it's off to sleep in our bed dreaming of pasta and spritz. Grazie Mille!

Traditional Tuscan Cooking Class
Traditional Tuscan Cooking Class
Florence

What an amazing experience this cooking class is. My husband and I have taken many cooking classes in the past and this was the most unique so far. We were not aware before arriving that the class would be in a locals home. We also expected a "small group" but for our class we were the only ones. A private class, learning from a local---making traditional food, that she has made her whole life, what could be better? We started by making pasta dough and letting it rest. Next was desert, each making a tiramisu for later. After that was a type of Tuscan dumpling made of spinach, a small amount of parmesan cheese, some salt and flour. I was so surprised how this turned out. Are you getting tired yet? Cause there is more...next was a potato filling for a tortellini, that we later made by rolling our pasta, cutting to size, piping the filling, and learning to fold into pillows of awesomeness! Donatella took over from there, giving us a glass of wine, water, and tomato and white bean bruschetta. She cooked the spinach dumplings with a simple tomato sauce with garlic, and the tortellini with olive oil, and sage. Simple ingredients, and unbelievable flavors. I was so surprised, and left full and very happy from the experience.

Our guide, Daniela, was on time and personable, providing history and commentary. We chatted on the hike up the hills and through the trees to the castle. (really more of a tower, but still very cool). We stopped and took pictures part way up, also a good time for a rest, drink and to cool off. Once at the top the views were amazing, but we continued on, going inside the tower and climbing to the top. At the top the 360 degree view as promised was worth the hike. It was so pretty. We could see up Milan in one direction, the Lake and valley in the other. We had a nice tasting of a Barbarossa wine and some crackers while enjoying the view before walking back down, and returning to our hotel.

We had an amazing time learning how to make Neapolitan pizza. Our small group was just us (2 people), and we started by learning what simple ingredients are combined to make the pizza dough. After making our own dough, we were taken back to the pizza station in the kitchen, right next to the wood oven and made our own pizza. We watched the professional cook the pizza and then we got to take it to our table and dig in. A very fun experience, with a bonus friend pizza provided by the restaurant for us to try and take home. This is up to a 1.5-2 hour drive from Naples each way. It's a long day of being in the car. We started at the Cheese farm for a short tour. We learned how they take care of the Buffalo, and got to see them up close and even got to pet them. After hearing about how the farm is run we tasted some cheese. It's so different in flavor and texture from cow mozzarella, you really can taste the difference. It's a nice place, beautiful grounds with coffee shop, restaurant and pastry shop on sight. (our paperwork said light lunch, and all there was for lunch was the cheese, so be aware and ask your guide to stop someone for food or grab a pastry) The ruins in Paestrum are really interesting, it was less crowded and had a very different from Pompeii if you decide to do that. We had a great guide named Mario who gave us history and commentary, taking us through the museum as well. Not as much to see due to the history of the ruins overall, which again is different from Pompeii but if you like history it's really enjoyable.

Quality of Experience
Food
The food was three balls of cheese. While it was good, and fun to try that was not a meal.

Our driver Gino had a new car, and it gave us the ability to adjust the temperature as we needed to help with car sickness. He was friendly and talked for part of the trip, but also gave up time for some quiet.

Limoncello & Lemon Marmalade Experience
Limoncello & Lemon Marmalade Experience
Italy

Really fun, hands on experience. I highly recommend. We helped to make, what turned out to be pretty simple, a small batch of limoncello and our instructor (Valentino) made it really fun. Playing that he had an injury so we had to do the work we peeled, shook, and combined all the ingredients. When it started to sprinkle, and we we went inside from our private view overlooking the water, they quickly got setup to show us how to use more of the lemon (no lemon goes to waste here) to make lemon marmalade. I was surprised how much I like it, and look forward to trying both recipes at home. This was an amazing experience with a friendly family run business, and I will not only buy from them in the future to ship, but I encourage everyone to to stop by for a tasting or to do the hands on experience. They love what they do and it shows.

Venice

We have started to do a food and drink tour on all of our vacations because of how interesting they are and how well it's done. Our Venice experience did not disappoint and from start to finish Beatrice was an excellent guide, telling stories, and history and generally keeping our group engaged. At each stop everything was planned and ready to go and the food and pairing were excellent. As a vegetarian, each stop was able to accommodate my diet with substitutions that looked better than whatever one else was having (but I might be biased). From a Prosecco I had never had before (and loved) to wine (you choose white or red) and ending with a nice dessert wine to sip -- everything was delicious and felt very customizable. We left happy with the experience, getting an idea of the overall city of Venice which helped us to get around later. We also left stuffed, with no need to think about dinner.

Quality of Experience
Perfect pairings, pace, and people.
Food
Quality ingredients and each stops ability to accommodate my dietary needs. I never felt like it was a problem or difficult.

Beatrice was fantastic. We loved every minute of our tour.
Tuscan Day Trip to Siena and San Gimignano with Lunch & Wine Tasting
Tuscan Day Trip to Siena and San Gimignano with Lunch & Wine Tasting
Italy

The drive takes a little over an hour to go to Siena (our first stop) where we got about an hour and 15 minutes to explore before heading off to the winery for lunch and our tasting. After lunch we went to San Gimignano where we had about and hour and a half to explore before heading back to our starting location. Both stops were really nice, with beautiful views and architecture to admire. We got a pastry and some stuff to take home while window shopping in Siena. We had the biggest slice of pizza we've ever seen an a nice glass of a local wine. At the Winery we had a great table outside with a wonderful view. After a brief introduction to the winery and the wines we had our first tasting paired with bruschetta, cheeses and salami. For our meal we had a choice of pastas or a traditional tuscan stew (a vegetarian choice). The food was wonderful, and the wine paired nicely bringing our the fresh flavors in the food. Our last stop was San Gimignano, where we got a gelato while wondering through the streets and shops.

Quality of Experience
Timed pretty well, the winery was really relaxing and had both good wine and food.

Guided Visit of Naples Downtown & Underground Ruins
Guided Visit of Naples Downtown & Underground Ruins
Naples

A great activity to see Naples. We met Clemente at Neptune's fountain and started our tour by heading to see the Castle Nuova from the outside because it wasn't open yet, Galleria Umbero I, with all it's beautiful details (being restored to a sparkling white marble), walking by the theater where the Opera was held. Next to the Royle Palace, with statues in every archway. As we continued to walk we went through the narrow streets, hearing history and dodging shoppers. The tour ended at the underground ruins which was really interesting and worth a trip--it doesn't take too long, but it's a good place to cool off it's it's getting warm outside. A nice 3 hour trip taking it all in and hearing stories from a local who loved to show off his city.

Quality of Experience
A nice walk, with enough history to be interesting but not feel rushed or overwhelmed.
Guides, Drivers and Staff
Clemente was our guide, telling us the history and offering recommendations -- we couldn't have been happier.
Day Excursion to Pompeii and Mount Vesuvius with Wine Tasting
Day Excursion to Pompeii and Mount Vesuvius with Wine Tasting
Naples

Pompeii was so much larger than I expected! Amazing historical site. Our tour guide, I think might have been Mike, was great. The wine tasting was a nice break between larger experiences. The food was very good, but not too much to feel overly full. The grounds were very nice. Mount Vesuvius was more of a hike than I expected, but the guide was interesting.

Quality of Experience
Food
Good food, nothing that blew my socks off. Multiple tours ended up in the space at the same time and it was very cramped. I felt stuck at my seat and couldn't get out because of how close the tables were.
Guides, Drivers and Staff
The Guides were nice, and did the best they could. Our guide in Pompeii was very knowledgeable and did the best he could with a group of people that all spoke different languages.
Transport
The bus felt cramped for 18 people and the AC didn't reach the back where we happened to be.
Guided Visit of Florence Including David and Duomo
Guided Visit of Florence Including David and Duomo
Italy

This was a nice walk that took us a few blocks from our starting point and showed use some history of Florence. Seeing the David and hearing about about that was probably the highlight. I think it was the perfect length for the walk, at the right pace, as well as the time we needed to see what we saw.

Guides, Drivers and Staff
Our guide was very nice and accommodating when a person needed to find a restroom in the middle of the tour.
Private Full Day Amalfi Experience
Private Full Day Amalfi Experience
Italy

This is a fun idea and I did enjoy the trip, but keep in mind how long it will take to get where you are going. We spent a lot of time in the car. The roads are narrow and speeds are low so it takes twice as long to go a short distance. We stopped for an hour which was nice to look in shops and get a feel for these buildings on the side of the mountain. We also did a limoncello experience (which I recommend and have reviewed separately) but that took 2 hours from our day so we didn't go to the 3rd stop on this tour. Additionally the only way home is the same way you came, so it took us roughly 2 hours to get home after our last stop. Even though we were not driving the say felt long, with a lot of sitting in the car.

Quality of Experience
Guides, Drivers and Staff
Our drive was safe and clearly comfortable on the road. He kept the car nice and cold for us so we didn't get car sick.
Transport
The car was clean, and cool.

Just returned from the most wonderful trip to Iceland. Eric, our specialist, really understood the sort of vacation we wanted to have and put together an excellent itinerary for us to follow as we drove the Ring Road. It was so nice to have a handful of experiences all booked and paid for with self guided tours in-between. Everyday was an adventure, and just when we thought we had seen or experienced everything, the next day proved us wrong!
Thank you Eric and Kimkim for a very memorable experience.

Thank you to Katie and KimKim for a great unstressful trip to Norway. The private transfer vehicles were always on time. All the drivers/guides were very pleasant and knowledgeable. I think the fjord cruise and the farm tour were my favorite experiences. I loved the apartment in Aurland! I could have stayed longer. I wish I had booked a sauna experience. Next trip!
