They picked us up to the airport, took us to our hotel to check in and freshen up, then drove us to view different areas of Manila. Our favorite was walking the streets of Intramuros. The next day they drove us to Pagsanjan Falls for a memorable and beautiful canoe ride amongst the forested cliffs and spectacular waterfalls - a unique experience that we will never forget. The Huni Lio Hotel in El Nido was perfect for us! It was situated right on the beach next to many restaurants within walking distance. The sunsets on Lio Beach were one of the most beautiful we've seen! We chose to take the private Tour D to beat the crowds - to our surprise, we were the only ones canoeing in the Small Lagoon for quite a while. Our stay in Discovery Coron was also wonderful with a white sand beach, baby blue water, good food, and another incredible tour of several beautiful beaches and snorkeling spots. Thank you, Cami, for helping us experience a trip of a lifetime!

Highlights:
-Bessa Hotel Liberdade was top-notch!

Tuk-tuk tour of Lisbon was a fun and unique way to see the city. They had one blanket that was great

Marta was very knowledgeable about the different sights we saw on our tour of Cascais and Sintra, from local artists to the history of different famous buildings. She also brought us to an authentic Portuguese lunch spot where we enjoyed a variety of good foods. She was very flexible and accomodating when we expressed an interest in seeing Pena Palace rather than another place. Pena Palace is worth it for the first time visitor, especially during off-season winter holidays. Lines were manageable. Waiting for the shuttle took the longest, but if you're fit, take the 10min walk up the hill. Excellent views and many interesting details inside the palace itself.

Our driver for Obidos, Fatima and Porto was friendly and very helpful.

Braga and Guimaraes were lovely day trips and our guide was excellent! He reserved a fantastic restaurant for lunch in a historic building and gave us a superb tour of the places.

Enjoyed climbing the Clerigos tower on Christmas and going to a Portuguese mass.

The bike tour in Porto with Biclas and Triclas was also great and the company did a good job helping us get to our train on time while still seeing all of the beautiful viewpoints in Lisbon. Piedro, our guide was excellent in navigating us through the city safely and shared his wealth of knowledge about the city sights. Our first time on E-bikes, it was perfect for the hilly terrain.

Our train back to Lisbon was a little delayed and we didn't realize that there were 2 stops in Lisbon and got off early at Oriente instead of the other one!

Things that could be improved:
- Mercure Hotel Santa Catarina in Porto was not 4 star worthy! Staff were pleasant, buffet breakfast was good, but compared to Bessa Hotel, it really was more 3-star caliber. Our first room had a strong moldy smell and they moved us without hassle, but having that experience in the first place was unpleasant. Floor was linoleum out of the 1970s, with no robes or slippers and no view. The room our kids and grandmother were in had a great city view.

Definitely recommend Portugal for the winter holidays.

Very surprised this is considered a 4-star hotel. Staff were pleasant, buffet breakfast was good with panoramic city views, but compared to Bessa Hotel, it really was more 3-star caliber. Our first room had a strong moldy smell and they moved us without hassle, but having that experience in the first place was unpleasant. Floor was an odd linoleum with no robes, slippers or body lotion,no view and room was small with a double bed. Surprisingly, practical dental kits were bathroom amenities. This was a cute place. There were some issues. It was very hot and loud in our room so it was difficult to sleep. The breakfast was only from 8a to 9:30a. We had to be out before 8a both days that we were there. The hostess did make sure that we had some cereal and toast. My husband had to wake her up on the day we were leaving because she had us blocked it with her car. There were so many hotels in that city with views of the lake but our room had a view into the house next door.

Our first guide, Allan, was just the best! We were in the middle of New Year's celebrations in Tokyo and he taught us so much about the traditions of going to the shrines. Allan took us to shopping districts, museums and other great tourist spots. We walked an average of 7 km per day and Allan always made sure that my mother was doing okay. It rained the day we went to Mt Fuji so Allan changed the itinerary so that we still had a wonderful day. We were sad to see him go but he would always answer our texts if we had a question even though he wasn't our guide anymore. William was our next guide when we went to Kyoto and Osaka. He was also great and was so knowledgeable about every place we went to. Nara was a special place - we had fun watching how mochi was made and feeding the deer in the park. The shrines, temples and gardens were beautiful (every one was different so you didn't get tired of seeing another one). We highly recommend taking the cooking class in Tokyo, dressing up in kimonos and learning about the tea ceremony in Kyoto, going to the Samurai museum in Kyoto, going to Nara and visiting the shrines and temples in Osaka. Shopping in Tokyo and Osaka is a must. Going with kimkim as our travel coordinator was the perfect choice for us. Shona was so helpful and answered our questions promptly if a problem arose during the trip. The guides and drivers were always on time and treated us exceptionally. We would definitely recommend kimkim if you are planning a trip!

This was a beautiful hotel right in the city. The staff were very helpful as we needed their help getting our passports that we left in the Kyoto hotel - they did all the calling and arranging for us to pick them up. The rooms were beautiful (the shower/tub encased in glass weren't very private but you could make one wall opaque) and the view from the room overlooking the city was breathtaking. The breakfast buffet was good but not outstanding like some other hotels' buffets. The hotel held our suitcases after we checked out so we could shop for a couple of hours before catching the Shinkansen back to Tokyo. We took a taxi to the shopping district which cost around $15 - we thought having 5 people would make getting a taxi a problem but they let us cram 4 in the back.

This hotel was very nice. The rooms were nice and just big enough for 2 people and 2 carryons. We were too early to check in but were able to leave our suitcases in a secure room while we went to the Tea Ceremony and Samurai Museum. This hotel was located very near the train station. You could spend a whole day at the train station shopping and eating. The Samurai museum is located in a shopping district so we went back there to shop the next day. Taking a taxi or bus back to the hotel or Kyoto station was easy. The buffet breakfast was excellent with so many things to try. A robot went around for you to put dirty dishes on. The staff were very friendly, announcing your arrival at breakfast with the chef and serving staff welcoming you out loud. They had a lounge area where you could get hot or cold drinks whenever you'd like.

Beautiful resort hotel way up in the mountains. Staff were very helpful - girls in kimonos brought luggage up to your room. Rooms were large and beautiful with an onset tub on your balcony. You can't wear a bathing suit in the public onsen so having a private one was nice. Guests walked around in the kimonos and slippers provided in your room. Musicians were performing in the lobby, special juices, sparkling wine and ice cream were offered in the evening. There's a family pool, convenience store, bar, spa in the resort and other restaurants to go to nearby. The buffet breakfast was unbelievable! So much fantastic food to try. The grounds and view were picturesque. We only got to stay there one night - would've liked to have stayed at least 2 nights.

Very helpful staff. Rooms were nice. Breakfast from the menu was delicious and you could also get more from the buffet. Had dinner at the hotel once and it was also very good - they have different performers during dinner and we saw a music performance. There was a beautiful lounge on the 10th floor that was open from 7 - 10 at night where you could get a hot or cold drink and try some Japanese snacks. Loved the location of this hotel as it was right along the Asakusa strip - just down the way was Don Quijote (a store that had everything and was open 24/7) and lots of places to eat. Even Lawson's (like a 7-11) had great, fresh food. There was always a gentleman standing outside helping tourists with their suitcases when their ride showed up. We left Tokyo for 5 days and were coming back so the hotel let us leave our large suitcase and had it in our room when we came back. They also let us leave all our suitcases in a secure room when we had checked out and wanted to go shopping for a couple of hours before leaving for the airport.

Didn't know we were going to be put in traditional kimonos and have our hair put up for the ceremony - the guys looked great in their traditional wear as well! The staff took pics for us in the garden. It wasn't easy sitting in a kimono on our knees for an hour but we were allowed to sit any way that was comfortable. The host was very informative and took pics for us. She let us try Japanese treats and taught us the proper technique on how to make the tea. Not many liked the matcha but you only had to take four sips to complete the ceremony. Our tour guide at the Samurai Ninja museum was really good. Unfortunately, this was the only rainy day of our trip and it was on our Mt Fuji day! We watched the video at the Mt Fuji information centre and got to use the virtual reality goggles to see what Mt Fuji looks like up close which was cool and informative. We still did the boat cruise but it wasn't much fun because it was so windy and rainy. Our guide Allan took us to a little village as plan B which turned out to be one of our favourite places in Japan! This village gets Mt Fuji water and as a result grows the best food around. They mill their own buckwheat and make their own soba and udon noodles - we had both for lunch and it was fantastic! We had grilled mochi and manju, hand made rice crackers and manju stuffed with a strawberry. The trout swimming in the ponds were huge and the village store had lots of local products to buy. I would ask to go to this village (don't remember the name) even if you do get to see Mt Fuji.

This was a really fun morning! We got dropped off in a residential area and went into an apartment building. We were a bit early but the ladies let us come in, get ready, and wait in a large dining area (the apt was renovated so that there was one big room instead of a bedroom and a living room). Two other people joined us and we got started. The first instructor had us help make broth and miso soup. Then we made side dishes like rolled egg, cucumber salad, potato salad, and a pancake for dessert. The second instructor had us make a chicken/veg stuffed lotus root and the sauce for the shabu shabu. We also learned how to make the carrot and mushroom decorative for the meat dish. Once we cooked everything and had all of the food plated on nice dishes, we got to eat our lunch! It was delicious!

Having a guide take us to the Meiji Shrine was so advantageous because it was Jan 3rd and the shrine was filled with Japanese locals who were coming to celebrate New Years. Allan taught us all the traditions and reasons for doing what the locals were doing. It was so fun to be a part of it. The Imperial Palace was beautiful - it was open to the public the day before so all the barriers were being taken down (the palace is only open to the public two times a year). We missed it, but apparently it was crazy busy! Seeing the Harajuku district was very interesting. It was very busy and not a very wide street so it was slow going. Very interesting stores, very interesting fashion and lots of fun street food.

The communication during the trip planning process was very good, and we appreciated the attention to detail at that stage. However, we were particularly dissatisfied with the constant schedule changes and delays during the trip, especially since we had emphasized that the trip included an elderly person, making punctuality crucial. Additionally, due to discrepancies between the final schedule and the original itinerary, some days became overly exhausting and lacked adequate rest.
Overall, given our experience, we found the trip to be expensive for what was delivered.

This was the second time we have used Kim Kim for traveling, and yet again the company they linked us with was excellent. Alan, our guide in Tokyo was extremely personable and his enthusiasm and love of sharing his knowledge made our time truly unforgettable. Slash was our guide for Kyoto, Osaka, and Hiroshima. While we appreciated his knowledge about the places we were visiting, his knowledge about what food areas to avoid as they were more for tourist experiences, and where to go for the best “real” Japanese food was always spot on. We could not have been happier with his suggestions. Our family left Japan with a better understanding of the culture, religion, and of course food! Visiting a variety of shrines, temples, and palaces along with a hands on bento box cooking class, private geisha tea ceremony where we had an opportunity to talk with the geisha and ask questions, and learning how to forge our own knives- literally we had so many wonderful experiences it is impossible to name a favorite one. Our family will 100% be using kim kim for our next trip!

Cross Hotel Osaka's location is unbeatable, nestled just a block from all the action and shops in Osaka. The convenience of being close to everything was fantastic. The Shiba Park Hotel in Tokyo was a nice place to stay. Initially, I thought we would have to take transportation everywhere, but it turned out most places were within walking distance, about a mile to a mile and a half away. The hotel was not located right in the heart of the action, but it was easy to figure things out. The staff was great, and overall, I was happy with the accommodation.

We did adventure activities, wildlife activites and cultral activites - all in the same trip. They arranged tours and transportation so that it was as stress free as possible for my husband and I. Once we got to Costa Rica we had daily support for each day's events. They advised what to bring and wear, who would be transporting us and if meals /food would be included. When one of our experiences went late, I was able to communicate with our local contact, Wilman, in the moment to move back the evening experience tour and travel. Knowing that I had a local contact that was available to support me as needed during the trip was very comforting and helped me reassure both the older and younger generations.

It is obviously disappointing to hear that you felt the plan was generic as we did work together to come up with a plan that I hoped you and your family would enjoy and that would fit in around the plans you had already made to go sailing in Abel Tasman National Park.
It is always a challenge over Christmas and New Year to find luxury accommodation in our popular coastal locations so perhaps your trip would have benefitted from upgrading the accommodation choices had more options been available. I know having less than ideal weather did not help your enjoyment of the trip either.

I had the absolute best time on my New Zealand trip, all thanks to KimKim and their amazing local guide Michelle! From start to finish, everything was organized so seamlessly that all I had to do was show up and enjoy the adventure.

I kicked things off in Auckland, where I was greeted with a hotel room that had a window view so beautiful it felt like I was in a postcard. Day one started with a bang at the Weta Workshop, which is an absolute must for any movie buff. Michelle called me on day two to check in and casually save the day by reminding me that Ubers were a great way to get around. Later, I was whisked away to pick up my rental car, and drove to Hobbiton, which felt like stepping into a dream.

Michelle made sure I always had enough time to get from city to city without ever feeling rushed and the hotels were consistently stellar. She also hit it out of the park with her activity recommendations. The Maori Cultural Experience in Rotorua? Unforgettable. The Waitomo Glowworm Caves, zip-lining and the Wai-O-Tapu hot springs? Pure magic!

Every single activity was thoughtfully chosen and perfectly tailored to my tastes. Even the little touches were perfect—like the recommended restaurants and lunch stops, which came in so handy. If you’re on the fence about booking with KimKim -- just do it! I trusted their judgment completely, and they delivered in every way.

Can’t wait to book my next trip with them!

We also appreciated the Kimkim flexibility, in modifying proposed itinerary options.

Angel and Jennifer were excellent hosts on the Santiago food tour. I really enjoyed going to the local market and picking out food for a picnic. Angel is very knowledgeable about Santiago and provided us a lot of insights on daily life of locals. As a vegetarian, he made sure that all food stops had an option for me. At the end of the tour we had a picnic in the park beautifully prepared by Jennifer. Thank you for a great day!
