I have to start tipping my hat off to Michel Gold who was my first contact and guided me through the compiling of our itinerary. Thanks to his knowledge we scratch off visiting Bogota because of my wife tendency to altitude sickness. He also suggested the gastronomical tour in Cartagena. Michael also provided me with a list of things I should know before going to Colombia and the pro-environmental philosophy of the agency which I found appropriate.

Our guide in Medellin, Andres Robledo young but experienced. He knows the ropes around Medellin; we when to center of the city and to the once infamous "Communa 13". The contrast of social stratus in Colombia is evident, yet the genuine friendliness was also evident wherever we went. Public servants were very professional from the police officers to the ticket vendor in the tramway. Street vendors were aggressive, but respectful.
Our driver in Medellin, Martin, master of the road. Experienced and patient, he can see problems before it happen. He gave me lots of confidence going up and down Medellin's hills. Great soccer fan of "Atletico National" verse in politics and history ( Pablo Escobar, Garcia Marquez, Social reforms...)
Our hotel in Medellin: Ecohub....it needs works. Internet was spotty at best, WIFI was good just around the lobby. We had to issues in our room. The fridge did not work and the land phone was disconnected. We reported both issues twice and they were never solved while we stayed there. Staff was helpful, but they need more people that speaks English and French. Location was great and in general the hotel was comfortable, clean and safe which is what matters, the rest can be fixed. Traffic in Medellin is crazy, there is nothing you can do about it.
Our guide in Cartagena, Luis Moron. Great energy, Luis knows Cartagena, he has many many qualifications, "Zumba and Scuba diver trainer, Chef, and tour guide." Luis knows the history of Cartagena and the best places, he was very flexible and altered our tour so we could visit Gabriel Garcia Marquez's museum, that was a plus for me that I have read everything he wrote. Cartagena is in constant "Carnaval" mode. People are joyful, simple, happy. Buy a hat as soon as you land or you will melt. What a freaking heat. I drank all the beer brands because of the heat. Luis was very patient with my wife about walking the historic streets of Cartagena with the bright sun and torching heat.
We went to a cooking class, "how to make ceviche"......it blew me away. Ceviche with Corvina fish, mango, coconut milk, and passion fruit juice. Two days later, after walking miles inside San Felipe Fortress, we had another cooking class with Luis and Leonor. Robalo fish fried in coconut milk and brown sugar, patacones, guacamole and rice also in coconut milk and tomatoes of a tree juice.
Our driver in Cartagena, Emerson, just like Martin in Medellin, patient and experienced, punctual and also great knowledge of beaches and resorts around Cartagena.
Out hotel in Cartagena, Armeria Real. Blown away by the size of our room, we get a duplex (two floor room). Super clean and comfortable. Staff, .........unpaired. Luis at the receptions, great suggestions for places to visit at night and restaurants and coffee shops. Waiters at the roof-top John and (..I forgot his name, but he has dental braces) great coctails and suggestion from their own restaurant.

GHL Hotel Armería Real
Cartagena

Extraordinary. Amazing place. it is a 400 years old building converted to a hotel. Our room was a duplex, huge beds, two bathrooms. Staff, super willing to please. Luis at the front desk with great suggestions for places to visit and restaurants to eat. The waiters at the roof-top terrace great cocktails and suggestions to eat from the local restaurant. Great location, everything is willing walking distance. Really good internet speed.

Authenticity & Character
It is a colonial building with a preserved architecture. Wooden floor, red roof tiles etc...
Location
Walking distance to everything. Restaurants of all kind and levels in any direction. Check this place "lavalotu". Around the corner from the hotel. They wash your clothes by the pounds. It is like US$10.00 for 10 pounds. Service in 2 hours.
Staff
Super friendly and willing to please.

Awesome.
EcoHub Hotel Medellin
Medellín, Antioquia

Great location, room was clean and comfortable. Staff is friendly, but if you don't speak Spanish, you might struggle to get things done. I have to give them 4 stars because we had two issues that were never resolved. The mini-fridge was not working properly. The land phone was disconnected. I checked it and the power source was not there. We reported the issued twice in 4 days, it was never fixed. Also the internet was spotty. WIFY was slow and just had the right speed when you stand around the lobby not in the room. That is a deal breaker.

Authenticity & Character
It is like any other mid-level hotel.
Location
It is in a good and save neighborhood. It has indoor parking, but it it an stretch if you want to visit the city center. You would have to depend on hired transportation.
Staff
Really willing to help. Everybody specially Brayn who handles the bar at night.
Cleanliness & Comfort
Our room was clean and comfortable, but walls were thing, I could hear people's conversation next door.

it was worth to go up to comuna 13. Year ago it was considered the most dangerous place in Medellin. Social and political will are transforming this poor neighborhood into a vibrant, proactive community that is trying to pull themselves up. Many great murals and a genuine desire of the people to erase a bad reputation. Kudos to my guide Andres Robledo for explaining to me social-dynamic of this community.

Pop-Up Dinner (Envigado)
Pop-Up Dinner (Envigado)
Medellín

The chef tried to surprise us with a Mango ceviche as an entry. It was too acid which is normal for most people in Colombia, but my wife's ulcer begged to differ. He tried something different and I will give him credit for that. This is like a blind date. The main dish was a mixed of several meat and rice. It felt like chow-main. It has too much soy sauce which surprise us because we were expecting something more Colombian. There was an avocado salad. Rich creamy avocado with shopped vegetables. Dessert was a souffle made out passion fruit. That was worth the night. I think he put some liquor in it and was amazing.

Quality of Experience
To the credit of the chef. We were tired and half full from a long day in the center of Medellin. So we were not that hungry.
Food
We were expecting a more traditional colombian dish. It felt more like chinese take out food.

Amazing, a really well run farm trying to keep it environmentally correct. No pesticide, natural fertilizer. I learned so much about coffee. I drank such a good quality coffee. I saw so many birds and wild life. We even saw a capibara. The person who gives you the tour ( I am so ashamed that I do not recall his name right now) knows coffee. He starts the tour by percolating coffee in front of you. Then you drink it and he explains the flavors, aromas and effects. The he takes you for an hour up the mountain trip. You see the coffee trees, flowers, and natural resources to keep it "natural". As you walk up, you see and hear many kind of birds. They explain to you the whole process of producing coffee, from the sawing of the seeds, the grooming of the trees, the collection, and finally the roasting.

Quality of Experience
Extraordinary learning experience.

Medellín

I think this is the most overrated of all the points of interest in Colombia. There are 747 steps. You need to be in shape. The view is great, but is not worth a heart attack. Vendors are aggressive and overprice everything. Food choices are not that great too. Mostly local fried fish; bass and carpe. If you like narco-tourism, then go ahead in the boat trip, the only thing worthy of it is to say later that you were close to one of the many Pablo Escobar houses in the area. It is a two hour ride from any direction to get here. The worse part is that "El Penol' is private property, you pay close to US$12.00 to get in. There is a church in town worth visiting for its architecture and wood-carved decorations.

Quality of Experience
Too much hipe, two hours ride, 5 minutes of thrill.
Food
Reduced choices, practically they forced you to between fried bass, tilapia or carpe. Ketchup was too sweet.

My driver, Martin. Solid prudent driver.

I rode a good Renault SVU. Good for this kind of trip.

Rule number four: try to read about the history of slavery in Colombia before you arrive in the country. Medellin streetfood is mostly fried or bake. Too many to mentioned here, and to many to try in one day. There are several variations of croissant bread worth to try. Bunuelos, arepas and empanadas made of corn or wheat flour worth to try alone with the street coffee. There is no bad coffee in Colombia. Everybody try their best to percolate, roast and grind the best coffee possible. You need to try their banana bread. It is fresh fresh.

Cartagena

Cartagena's market Barzuto, is like any other third world market. Sanitary conditions are not premium. There is a chaotic traffic of people with merchandise coming and going in all directions. You need to be quick on your feet. Different sections of the market have different smells. You need to be mentally prepared for your nose to be assaulted by the smell of fresh blood, fish, pungent flames from the boiling pots with meat from animals like Capibaras and such, spices that you have never smelled before. On the other hand, you will see fruits from the Amazonian basin that you have never seen or tasted before. Great mangoes, supreme green bananas, guavas, grapes, etc. I suggest to bring a bottle of water to wash thoroughly whatever you might try to eat. Bring closed shoes. Cooking classes. New windows to new flavors and way to cook ceviche. Corvina fish dipped into coconut milk with passion fruit juice, mangos cubes, rocoto sauce, red onions, green and red peppers infused with lime juice. Robalo fish, dipped on coconut milk and brown sugar, patacones, guacamole with garlic shrimps. Rice with coconut milk and panera. Tomate juice from a very special tomato specie.

Quality of Experience
Once in a life time experience if you were not born poor in a third world country.
Food
It is a toss, you either love it or hate it.

Emerson was a quiet, calculated, patient master of the road. He can see an accident happening 20 seconds before it does.

I was in Madrid and the Prado was not scheduled as a tour until I asked for it to be added on. I believed Hector when he said that the last minute nature of the booking made the expensive but when we looked at daily room rates when we were there, they were not high. I think we were overcharged by about 50% and want a refund of at least $5000.

Hi Mary,

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. Due to it being a last-minute booking for August, your trip was a particularly challenging itinerary to plan, given the short timeframe.

Despite this, your trip developed as planned with no incidents, and we did our best to accommodate any additional changes and requests, such as adding a private guided visit of El Prado Museum (requested during your trip).

The shopping recommendations, these were included in your travel documents as optional suggestions, along with recommendations for historical sites, places of interest, and restaurants. They were provided as additional information to help you make the most of your time, rather than as scheduled activities.

Regarding the extra night of accommodation for your son, a refund for that night has already been processed.

As for the 4x4 and hiking experience, our local guides tailor each tour to the interests and preferences of each traveler and may adjust the itinerary during the experience based on the group’s pace and physical condition, ensuring everyone can enjoy the day comfortably. After more than an hour of hiking, your guide adapted the tour and shorten the hiking portion, while extending the 4x4 experience so you could explore more of the Picos de Europa in a comfortable and enjoyable way.

With that being said, I truly appreciate your feedback, and I hope that, overall, you were able to enjoy your time in Spain.

Best regards,
Hector

This one had plusses and minuses. When we arrived at 1 pm they had apparently decided that was the time to repaint the front desk. There was not an obvious warning sign until I had approached the desk, and by that time my shirt was destroyed. It was oil-based paint. The shirt was a goner. They seemed less than sympathetic about it. Oh, well. The location was terrific. The room itself was kind of neat, and yet there was only one bedside light, no luggage racks or place to put luggage except the floor. My daughter's room had two lamps and a luggage rack. I asked if I could get even one luggage rack for our two-person room. I did not get one. The bathroom was ok, but the tub floor was 6 inches above the bathroom floor, so hazardous to get in for a shower. The breakfast was terrific. And the staff when we checked out at 5:30 am went out of their way to be helpful to us.

Pena Palace was great, but it became outstanding when we were able to get a private tour with an official palace guide. We had access to all kinds of spaces that people normally cannot enter. Our palace guide was superb. What a fantastic experience. At our guide, Louis', suggestion, we did not visit the second palace. He advised it was too much to fit in and would require much strenuous walking. He disapproves of trying to visit these two palaces in one day. Added the Leprosy Museum which was fascinating. Needed more time at Rosendal. Rock Park was so interesting. Disappointed that our tour of the Manor didn't include inside spaces... we didn't have time to see it all. Overall just a wonderful trip. Thanks again for all of your guidance and support. Jo

This was truly one of the best trips we have been on. Great job Dalia.

We had a great trip to Albania. The country is beautiful and it being a small country it was very easy to get around and driving distances were very reasonable. Traveling in August is hot and dry, and seeing all the dry river beds makes us want to return in June, when I'm sure the country is lush and beautiful. This being said, we loved all of the fruit dripping from the trees, figs, pomegranates, grapes, nectarines, plums, and all of the other fresh produce was exactly what we were hoping for.

The hotels we visited had the most impressive views including Kerculla and Arameras pools were just magical. Kerculla was a beautiful hotel, breakfast was lovely and the view during breakfast at both hotels was incredible. Service at all the hotels was just okay. Service overall in Albania and attention to detail is not quite up to western standards but it was fine.

Our river hiking and rafting trips were fun but with dry weather, the water was limited. But still was ok. Service with the rafting company was ok. They don't explain much of anything but I think they are still learning how to do these tours!

Berat and Gjirkaster were fun to explore - driving was challenging but that was part of the fun!

The donkey experience was great because it was just our family. The boy and mom were really good and they did a good job - as a farmer I felt proud of them starting this aspect of their farm and I think their signage was fun along the donkey walk, their presentation at the table was great and we stayed until dark! This was an unexpected highlight of the trip. Really got an authentic experience with a local family.

On the other hand Bote Farms was totally the opposite. It was an ok experience, the food was good, but the pool is a algae filled not great experience, their was not enough space for all the guests to lay in chairs around the "pool", and there was just not much to do. It is not something, as a farmer, I felt was authentic. It would have been better to call it a light cooking class with a meal and skip the part hanging out by the pool. The animals were not great, kinda dirty and hot. The owners were nice and all, but if we are travelling to be in Albania I don't want to visit a place not run by Albanians. And they called it a farm to table event. but there was not really a farm. Just some gardens.

Glamping in Nivica was fun, but hot during the day. Tents were nice, but there was nothing to do during the day, and it was just hot. No one really welcomed us much at all to say where we were and about the place. It is a great spot and fun to get there in the trucks, but it lacked a little cohesiveness. Food was good, the guide was nice, and the hike was fun, and lunch at the local restaurant and a walk through the town were great.

We enjoyed the restaurant suggestions and overall they were good, but food did vary from place to place and was sometimes quite bland at the hotels and a bit overpriced. We would have enjoyed more local, out of the way, true local restaurants that locals eat at as other options for us vs tourist restaurants.

Not sure what else to write about! Thermal baths were a little bit of a let down since they are not hot, more like warm and they were a bit full of algae. Cool place though! We didn't stay long...

Overall the trip was very good and Kim Kim was helpful. We had to know what we wanted to do. If we did not, i do not know whether we would have been told what to do. I came to Kim Kim because i did not know anything and wanted a lot of guidance. In the end, I had to say what we wanted. After we gave Krista parameters of what we wanted she came up with a good plan.

Planning
Airport private transfer were set up. About 2.5 time smore expensive than just Uber to hotel. Luckily at the last moment we asked and canceled the airport transfers. Our specialist, Krusta, should have asked us whether we were comfortable with Uber or wanted a private car.
We never got itemized costs of the trip so we could make decisions on whether we wanted to do all the activities. I had to ask 3 times for itemized costs and only got it after trip was done. That is NOT very transparent. A safari and a kayaking trip was suggested for out time at Geiranger. I assumed we would see different places. We saw the same fjord when we kayaked, and when we did the Safari and took the ferry from Geiranger to Alesund ( you will see the same fjord in any ferry route out of Geiranger). As such the Safari was completely unnecessary and for us a waste of money. Either the safari or kayak would have been enough.
We had Kim Kim get us all tickets to activities. In one way that was good. I do not know whether the cost was lower with Kim Kim. From what I see it was at best the same or higher. I think you are better off asking Kim Kim what activities to do and book them yourself unless money is not a concern.

Due to rail construction the train was changed to bus. The tickets issued still mentioned train and the bus information was hidden. Instructions on how to get to bus stops were not clear. Luckily i asked about it ahead of time and clarified where to go etc or we may have gone to the wrong place.

Experience and Service
With the exception of not telling us somethings to make our trip even better the service and communication were good. They had a support team (Matijs and Beni) who responded quickly on what's app as well as on the app. If we really needed something they were there. They told us that the bus stop in Alesund was changing due to road closures.
Krista, teh booking team (Jacob) and support team were polite and quick to be helpful.

Fees
Kim Kim never disclosed what their fees were and how they charged. In the end there is a service fee and an admin fee. I do not know whether it is a Percentage of what we bought through Kim Kim. Mine ended up being close to 20%. I expected that I would have higher costs for the great/extra service we received from Kim Kim (vs doing it all ourselves) but I thought it would be 10% but 20% for me seemed high. Thinking back had they told me it was 20% I would have likely agreed. But i was not told anything and then told this was my cost without any breakdown - which to be fair I accepted. I think it is better for the costs itemized to be shared before they take payment.

Overall
Loved Norway. Linked Kim. Great service. Service fee the high side.
Wil never go back again as Immigration in Oslo was the worst of any country i have been to ( I've been to over 30 countries). This has nothing to do with a strike - i kept being told this was because of air controller strike. Any non-EU passport holder has to wait for 3-4 hours to get into Norway. To leave Norway we waited 2 hours (there was no strike at that time). We were USA passport holders. They only have one person processing 90% of passengers arriving into Norway.

It was a real pleasure designing your Norwegian journey and, above all, knowing that the trip felt comfortable, seamless, and enjoyable from beginning to end. I’m especially happy to hear that, despite the unexpected circumstances during your travels, you always felt informed and supported. For me, that is one of the most important parts of being a travel designer. Not only creating a beautiful itinerary, but also being there to anticipate challenges, provide reassurance, and make sure you can simply enjoy the journey.
I’m also very happy to hear that Bergen, the Flåm Railway, and the fjord cruise were highlights of your time in Norway. These are some of the experiences that make this part of the country so special.
It was a pleasure working with you both, and I’m very grateful for the trust you placed in me. Knowing that the trip exceeded your expectations and that everything came together so well is the best reward I could ask for.
I wish you and your families all the best. :)

We had the best time exploring Iceland with our family of 4! Adam did an amazing job helping us plan our trip that made sense for the routes we were taking while also keeping our two children, ages 8 and 11, in mind. He recommended great restaurants, optional stops and activities that our family really enjoyed. Having a full itinerary, with all the bookings for activities, spas, hotels, car, etc, really helped take the stress out of planning and made traveling a breeze.

We were traveling specifically for the total solar eclipse, and we booked relatively late when many accommodations and activities were already filling up. Adam still managed to find us some really great accommodations, which we were so grateful for.

The eclipse day itself was challenging because there were many unknowns around traffic, crowds, weather, and how much sightseeing we could realistically do. Adam kept us updated and informed throughout and helped us understand our best options as things unfolded. We ended up seeing a lot that day on the Snaeffelsness Peninsula, but ultimately the weather led us back to the hotel for the eclipse viewing and it worked out perfectly!

Our itinerary was a little packed for us, especially with the girls dealing with jet lag the first few days, so we ended up missing some of the planned stops. However, we really appreciated having everything laid out for us. The Kimkim app was easy to navigate, and we loved being able to see the daily plan, all the stops, drive times, recommendations and details all in one place. Adam was very patient throughout the planning. I probably asked him 1000 questions, and he never once seemed bothered! He was always responsive, helpful and willing to talk through options.

Some of our favorite activities were visiting the Blue Lagoon upon arrival to Iceland, soaking in the Fontana Stream Baths and eating the rye bread while on the geothermal bakery tour, seeing real lava at the Lava show, riding Icelandic horses, and hiking on a glacier on the Katla Ice cave tour! We had an unforgettable family trip and would absolutely recommend Adam and kimkim to anyone planning a trip!

We loved this place for our family of 4. The hotel was clean, comfortable and stylish. Wish we could have spent more than one night here as we would have loved to use the spa and see more of the cute town.

Katla Ice Cave Tour
Iceland

The Katla Ice Cave Tour was a real highlight of our trip! It was exciting to hike up the glacier in crampons and navigate the crossings on narrow wooden planks. We felt safe the entire time and it wasn't a problem for our 8 and 11 year old. We had a wonderful guide who taught us so much! The Ice Cave was small as there was a lot of melt but still incredible views and sights.

We did the Geothermal Bakery Tour right after our soak at the Fontana Stream. We really enjoyed the experience and loved the tasting at the end. The kids still talk about the tasty Rye bread!

We saw many puffins from the boat and learned a bit about them too. We really enjoyed this and liked that it was an hour long- perfect for our kids.

I'm so happy that you had a brilliant time, despite the cloudy weather on the Eclipse day! I think it was still interesting to experience the darkness in the middle of the day. I hope you'll be back in the Land of Fire and Ice so you can explore all the regions!

Best wishes!
Adam
