Our family of 6 (including two sets of twins ages 9, 9, 12 and 12) spent the month of April 2026 in Nepal trekking from Ringmo/Taksindu to Everest Base Camp and return to Lukla. It was our first time at elevation, however we are no strangers to challenging backpacking trips and adventure travel. This was our second international trip with Kim-Kim and I highly recommend their services to connect you with the best guides in a region and to reduce the stress of coordination and language barriers. In particular, this trip to Nepal was so phenomenal that this review cannot convey the level of connection and respect that we gained for our trekking team, their families, and the villages that we travelled through. You can find a break down of our journey at miller-6 dot com through the eyes of our kids.

What truly set this experience apart was the incredible dedication of our organizer, Ngima. We came to Nepal with a specific desire to give back to two community schools and two monasteries. My children purchased and delivered smart boards, uniform supplies, delivered postcards from our hometown and distributed 400 hand sewn school supply bags during the first 5 days of our trip. Ngima put immense effort into organizing the logistics and seamlessly weaving the school visits into our itinerary. It was a profound, beautifully managed experience that our family will treasure forever, and it wouldn't have happened without Ngima’s passion and hard work.

Our lead trail guide, Nuru Jangbu Sherpa, was a true master of his craft. Knowing his impressive guiding achievements and the massive expeditions he has led, we were humbled to trek with him. Yet, he had a remarkable way of making our family’s journey feel just as monumental and impressive as any world-class summit. His son, Pemba Sherpa, who runs the family tea house in Paiya with his wife, joined us for the trek as a second guide and added a youthful maturity to the trip. He was always eager to play soccer or build a tower out of playing cards with our children and was an excellent role model for them to look up to.

The team’s attentiveness to our health and safety was world-class. They monitored our well-being constantly, ensuring everyone felt strong and secure at every altitude. Each day we would fill out a table of metrics for each family member, including blood oxygen monitoring. When health fluctuations and altitude sickness required us to pivot our plan, the team adjusted our itinerary flawlessly on the fly, never making us feel like a burden or that we had fell short of an achievement. They replaced the original plan with something that was equally (if not more) incredible.

The kindness, warmth, and constant smiles of Nuru, Pemba, and our incredible team of porters completely stole our hearts. Their strength is unmatched, but it is their gentle kindness that we will remember most. As a family that has travelled all over the world, including sailing across the Pacific Ocean on our catamaran for 2 years, this is the trip that our kids want to repeat over and over again.

Final Thoughts
If you are planning a trip to Nepal and want an experience that combines flawless logistics, unparalleled safety, deep cultural connection, and a team that feels like family, look no further. Ngima, Nuru, Pemba, and the entire crew gave us more than just a trek—they gave us a lifelong bond with the Himalayas and its beautiful people. Five stars doesn't feel like enough but I hope that this review encourages you to take your own adventure to Nepal, specifically taking the time to explore communities that are on the fringes of high tourist areas. This is where the experience reached a elevated level of connection for our tribe of 6. Good luck!

My wife and I spent two amazing weeks in Croatia. Thank you Sarah and Ivan for the meticulous planning of the trip. All of the drivers - Zoran, Ivan, Mato and Marija (I’m sure I’m forgetting a few others) were friendly, professional and very informative. We’ve learned so much about Croatian history and culture that I can’t really pick any one place that I like more than another, although Plitvice lakes was probably the prettiest place we’ve ever visited. Our particular thanks to all the folks in Dubrovnik who made our five nights stay there unforgettable.

Jun was our guide is Seoul and started off our trip on the right foot. He knew exactly how to navigate the sights to give us the best experience, and even got me a discount on my purchase at Gwangjang Market.

The Kim Kim Team which included Giorgia and Bea were extremely attentive to our requests and accommodated all of the changes to our itinerary during the planning phases. The travel App was an amazing resource that we have not used in the past and would recommend this for all future travels.

Our transfers and drivers were excellent and gave us five star treatment from airport pickups to traveling to Porto. Our driver, Nuno, who drove us to Porto allowed for a quick stop to Fatima, which we were grateful for. Our guide, Nuno, who drove us to Sintra was extremely intelligent and humorous. Our guide to Duoro Valley, Alfons, was quite knowledgeable and gave us an incredible experience in the Valley. That ranks as one of our favorite tours. Our arrival to Madeira was smooth and we loved our guide, Nuno, for the island Jeep expedition.

Out of the 4 hotel accommodations, only one disappointed. The Editory Garden in Porto was not up to our expectations. We did not like the location. If we had done our research on the city, we would have preferred to have stayed at a 5 star resort along the river where the city is alive. In addition, the rooms were small and the overall lobby and restaurant was sub-par. The staff was also rude. For example, our guide gave us a bottle of wine and we decided to enjoy it one afternoon. We also ordered two beers for the men in our family. The staff then charged us 7 Euros for an empty glass for me to drink my wine! We were annoyed and irritated for that charge and their lack of hospitality.

We also would have liked the travel agency to book our return flight from Madeira to Lisbon. I ended up booking it myself and the website was difficult to navigate and I had to pay extra Euros for our baggage. Since our flight to Madeira was booked by your agency, I was surprised that we had to do the return flight.

Overall, our family trip celebrating our children's graduation from college was a memorable and beautiful experience that we will cherish for a lifetime.

Good location, friendly staff, good service, rooms were comfortable, cute, and cleaned well every day. It was a really nice hotel and had the most amazing breakfast with fresh eggs, frittata, sausage, salad, pastries, bagel, cereals, toast, honey, molasses, bulgar wheat, various cheeses; it really was one of the nicest breakfasts from a hotel we've ever had, plus there's the view of the blue mosque or the sea the other side. The food on the terrace we had at dinner on the first night was also really good - best dolmades we've had (and we dont really like dolmades!) Highly recommend. The only reason it didn't get five stars is there are a few small repairs that need doing here and there so it's not a five star hotel in that sense, but we had a fab time and would definitely go back.

We had always heard of Biarritz, the resort of royalty and also the Basque region with its intriguing culture and language. Working with Emma was a pleasure. She recommended staying in Bayonne as our base and it was a delightful choice and so convenient to take the train for all day trips. Hotel Koegui in Bayonne was so nice to come back to each night. We liked the room, breakfast and staff. The artwork was a beautiful touch. Our St Jean de Luz tour was unfortunately canceled but we enjoyed the town on our own. Lauren in Cambo les Bains and Espelette was a great guide. Being Basque, she explained the culture and sites very well. She was very conscious of our time so we made our return train but we did not feel rushed. Vicky in Biarritz was marvelous. We immediately felt a connection and enjoyed our tour immensely. Wish it could have been longer. The Quality Hotel in Bordeaux for our last night was a great location but not very special. It was adequate. We did not have a room as pictured in their online site. The driver to the airport was punctual and a delight to talk with on our drive. Kimkim has again given us the trip we hoped for. Thank you.

Thank you so much for your kind words and for taking the time to share your experience.
I am truly delighted to hear that your French Basque adventure was such a success and that you enjoyed every moment of it. Thank you again for trusting us with your journey and I hope we will have the opportunity to welcome you back to France for another adventure in the future.

Our day on a private boat on the Amalfi coast was one of the highlights with the gorgeous views of the cliffs and swimming in beautiful blue waters. Spending the day with our private guide, Enza, in Scala Coeli was so special. We were able to see original documents of my grandfather's birth certificate and my great grandparents' marriage certificate. We also had a local person show us around the village including where my grandfather was born. The places we stayed were perfect with beautiful views in Sorrento and Rossano. We had a private large balcony on Sorrento with views of the mountains all around. This was such a meaningful experience for me and my Mom that we will carry with us for a lifetime. This was also the second time I have used Kim Kim to create a great trip from me, and I could not more highly recommend them!

We had the pleasure of working with Buse who was very eager to help us plan our vacation and immediately arranged a call to discuss our needs, where we would like to visit and also recommended some tours to consider. We visited Istanbul, where we were met by Ishmail (our guide for our time in the city). Ishmail's knowledge of Istanbul knew no bounds and we had a wonderful time touring the city and learning about the culture, history and food. Following Istanbul, we arrived in Bodrum, where Buse surprised us by securing an all-inclusive resort stay - perfect for us to unwind after 4 days of touring in Istanbul. We really wanted to sail the Turkish Riviera and this is where Buse's agility really helped in securing a gullet stay which my wife and I will remember for the rest of our lives. We sailed with FarOut Turkey, captained by Ahmet and his wonderful crew. My wife had done her own research and Buse was open to using a service provider we preferred, making the booking process so smooth. We wrapped up our Turkish adventure in Antalya and left Turkey with a full and happy heart. Thank you to Buse, Corciebo Travel, all the drivers who supported with transfers and the wonderful crew aboard Cheers (FarOut Turkey). We are already planning our next vacation in the beautiful Turkey.

Hi Julie,

Welcome back home! I hope you're recovering nicely from the jet lag.

Thank you for the opportunity to help plan your short family adventure to Japan. It was a pleasure working with you in planning this trip, and I'm so happy to hear that you had such a wonderful time together.

Thank you as well for your kind words. Knowing that the activities matched your children's interests and that the trip helped create special family memories means a lot to me. I understand how daunting it can feel traveling to a country where you don't speak the language, especially on a first visit, and so far from home. I'm happy that I was able to make the planning process less stressful and help introduce a few experiences that may not have otherwise been on your radar.

An especially memorable tour was the the VIP tour of the Louvre - First to see the Mona Lisa. Adam was our tour guide and he was amazing. He not only was entertaining, he knew exactly how to get to the Mona Lisa before everyone else. We had a few minutes alone to look at the painting and got a family photo. But all our tour guides were fantastic. The people of France were fantastic. We enjoyed eating at the many boulangerie's, learning the subway and just taking in all the architecture. Nice was gorgeous as well. So much history and culture and we had a beautiful view of the Mediterranean. We will remember this trip forever and can't wait to return.
