The guides were all excellent and knowledgeable. It was a good mix of culture, adventure, and food experiences. We particularly liked the flower experience in Saint Elena and the and La Minorista fruit market tasting.. We also loved the height through Tyrona and the tubing experienced on the Don Diego river. The cooking class was also a true highlight learning about Colombian cuisine.. enou

Throughout the booking process, the website was very glitchy, it was very difficult for me to download documents, and I had several failed attempts to pay for the trip. At every step of the way, the website itself didn’t work. It was a technical problem.

Once we were on the trip, everything was fantastic. All of our local guides were energetic and informative, and took excellent care of us meeting our every need.

We have traveled to over 30 countries with a variety of different planning services and this was among if not the worst. The planning almost could not have been worse. We very thoughtfully filled out all of the requested intake forms and what we got back was a far cry from what we clearly requested. It took far too many back and forth communications, two phone calls (Zoom would have been much more productive, but we were told it wasn’t available) and even a call with Kimkim’s management. Even after all of the communication, there were several missed details:

1. The trip was scheduled for the wrong year. After paying the deposit, we noticed that the date had somehow been changed to 2026! This was after many of the conversations mentioned above where we were very clear about our anticipated dates. We even went back to review email communications to see if somehow we had made a mistake and we had been clear about dates on our end.

2. They couldn’t manage to book the hotels we requested. We were told they didn’t have relationships with them and when they finally agreed to get pricing on them, the prices were much higher than we could get on Amex, so we ended up booking the hotels on our own.

3. Inaccuracies and missed details in our daily itinerary coupled with a very difficult to navigate itinerary format. Additionally there were a number of activities listed in our itinerary that were simply closed on the days we were scheduled. And these were not spontaneous closures. It was more like being scheduled to go to a museum on a certain day when that museum is always closed on that day. Simple research on the part of the planner would have revealed some of these issues.

4. They failed to book seats for one leg of our intra-country fight, which resulted in our having to sit at the very back of a large plane and not together. We only realized this when we went to check in for our flight. When asked about it, Jessica failed to take accountability for this oversight. Had we not realized the mistake upon checking into the flight, we may have been left without seats on a packed flight.

5. Guides- We had spotty guide experiences- having three guides in our three different locations. Our first guide was fine. Our second guide was poor. Our third guide was excellent. We had a variety of issues from significant language barriers, poor itinerary organization, lack of knowledge on basic site information, and mediocre guide-chosen food.

Best guide of our trip. Clover was engaging, knowledgeable and so thoughtful in her planning and execution. We loved our day with her in Jeju. The driver, however, was awful. His NYC taxi driver style on the pedal was horrific including harsh accelerating and braking. He either went far below the speed limit or drove like a race car driver on twisty backroads.

Our trip to Peru absolutely exceeded expectations.

From the beginning, Shawna was a fantastic partner in helping us plan the best itinerary for our family. She answered all our questions quickly and thoroughly, providing excellent guidance as we weighed different options. She helped us create a balanced itinerary filled with unique, authentic experiences.

While all our guides were terrific, Abel - our guide in Cusco and the Sacred Valley - was in a category of his own. He went above and beyond, helping us navigate unexpected flight issues and some altitude sickness our daughter experienced when we first arrived in Cusco. He was incredibly knowledgeable about Inca and Quechua society and was able to explain things in an accessible that engaged our kids and got them excited about the history. He truly made our trip special.

From the food tour in Lima, to the dune buggy adventure in the Paracas desert, to exploring Ollyantaytambo and Machu Picchu, to visiting the local Cusco markets and cooking authentic Peruvian cuisine with a chef at her restaurant, it was an unforgettable vacation. I highly recommend Peruvian Soul.

I was in Cambodia for 8-9 days in late Nov/early Dec 25 and used Steve and his team to have a fully guided trip. I had three great guides and two drivers. All of the the guides and drivers were all accommodating, courteous, fun to be with and always on time. I stayed in a great hotel in Phnom Penh, I was on the third floor overlooking the pool. Breakfast was always good and they staff were friendly. I had a fun time going around PP with the guide who was very knowledgable about all the sites we visited. Next was a car ride from PP to Battambang, this driver was with me for the remaining days. He was a skilled driver which is what you want on the roads of Cambodia! My guide on this portion was also very knowledgable and if I had any unusual questions or requests he went out of his way to help me find the answers. Battambang is a charming town on the river - this was another great hotel (except for the nightly Karaoke at a nearby bar but I think that was beyond the hotel's control) the food here was okay but not my favorite. Again, the wait staff were attentive and helpful. My final leg of the journey was Siem Reap where I stayed in my favorite hotel. The location wasn't great (I felt a little isolated) but here is where Steve and his team really came through for me - I was walloped with "traveler's sickness" and Steve coordinated with my third guide, Dara, on which clinic to go to as well as which pharmacy to go to (apparently some are more reputable than others). Dara (guide) and the driver (Mr Ya) were so accommodating, they rearranged my schedule so while I was down a day, I was able to do most of what I had planned in Siem Reap, they were constantly asking how I was feeling and just looking out for me. The staff at my hotel were amazing, bringing me ginger tea and asking about my well being - at one point someone at the hotel found a thermometer for me, just wonderful caring people everywhere I went. As a solo female traveler, I always felt safe where ever I went and never felt like I stumbled in an "iffy" area the entire time.
I would definitely recommend Steve and his team of guides. When I go back to Cambodia, I will definitely use his team again. I asked to be in non-touristy hotels which he made happen, while I did the typical tourist activities (temples, pagodas, the killing fields etc.) it was always personalized to me and what I wanted to see and do. The activities were well thought out and all were fun. I really loved the circus in Siem Reap and of course the temples were an incredible experience. The pacing was nice with being out for several hours, then returning to the hotel for an hour or two then heading back out again. I thoroughly enjoyed the trip as well as my accommodations and guides.

I loved this hotel, the staff was absolutely amazing, they spoke to me every time I saw anyone, they remembered I liked ginger tea and would preemptively ask if I wanted some when they saw me. They would ask about my day, how I was feeling (I was sick while there) etc. There were fresh flowers in my room and bathroom sink, they had my name and flowers on my bed - just overall very nice. The bed was comfortable and I loved the leafy green scenery outside off the balcony. The location seemed a little odd, there is another hotel nearby but overall it wasn't really close to anything - then again since I was sick I wasn't doing my usual exploring on foot so I am not sure exactly where it fit in the city at large. Pool was nice and seemed like a relaxing spot, I got a massage and they was very nice - I would've done more treatments but ran out of time.

One of most memorable vacations that my family and I have had, thanks to Mery Morelli and her team, notably, Luciana Franchi.

Mery supported me through the process of planning our travels in Patagonia, providing necessary information and options to customize the trip based on our likes and dislikes. The process entailed several iterations from my side but Mery was extremely patient and worked with me to finalize the itinerary. Once the itinerary was confirmed, Luciana helped with several logistics related details and even with last minutes adds to the itinerary (Buenos Aires Tango Show and Santiago City Tour).

Everything worked like clockwork! The team tracked our flights, sent us alerts, and were there to pick up us up at the airports. Everyone we interacted with was professional, pleasant, and had showed a passion for what they do. Our travel guides (Natalia, Romina, and Paulina) were super knowledgeable and ensured we got the most out of the tours.

Altogether, an exceptional experience and I highly recommend this team for anyone planning a trip to South America.

Our trip to Morocco was marvelous on all counts--seriously! This was in large part due to the communication with the local travel specialist, Nihad, who planned the trip exactly according to our preferences, and the remarkable warmth, dependability and excellent communication with our driver, Ahmed, who was with us for 12 days. The kimkim site requires an extensive questionaire to be completed, which was very helpful in understanding how/what we wanted from our trip. We wanted to learn about the history, culture, food, and local customs. We wanted to go to multiple large cities and small towns (Rabat, Tangier, Chefchaouen, Fes, and Marrakesh), and also see the Atlas mountains, the Sahara Desert, and local villages. Thanks to kimkim, Nihad, and our fantastic driver, Ahmed, we got to do all of that.

Ahmed was very responsible and kept up with potential weather concerns. As we we were about to go through the mountains, there was a lot of snow. Ahmed rerouted us, and while we forwent a couple of stops (to Ifrane, for one), we still had a breathtaking drive, and several informative stops along the way. We went to an incredible fossil museum where Ahmed had arranged a very informative and eye opening tour with a paleontologist, a local visit to Tinghir, where another local contact of Ahmed, Abdullah, we met a teacher and her family living in a village that was largely abandoned, but where no money changed hands and we learned about the local crops (palm dates, alfalfa, and other plants) that villagers tended collectively. One more crucial detail: Ahmed introduced us to a whole range of Saharan music, Amazigh musicians, and Gnaoua music--these were great soundtracks on our multiple days of long drives throughout the country.

We stayed exclusively in riads along the way. All of the riads were beautiful, some of them intricately renovated. We had great private rooms with excellent hot functioning showers. The hotel staff was, without fail, warm and welcoming--in every riad. Our breakfasts in each riad were excellent. In places where dinner would be hard to obtain, dinner had already arranged as part of the tour--another detail taken care of through kimkim. The one place where our riad was a bit uncomfortable was in Marrakesh (but the hotel staff and food were excellent!), The Riad La Croix Berbere Deluxe was billed as a suite, but it was a room with a connecting bridge that looked into our neighbors' room and their "living area". It was very noisy, because if the neighbors were in their living area and talking, we could see them and hear them. The "suite" was not private, unless you shut yourself in the bedroom, which was so small there was no room for luggage. I would recommend that this riad not be used in the future (again, though, the staff was marvelous).

In conclusion, we had a fantastic trip and will definitely use kimkim in the future. This was our first experience with kimkim and, having used the service once, we feel more comfortable in crafting our next adventure with this company. The cost of this trip was more than worth it--to be relieved of planning, and to be taken care of so well.

Riad La Croix Berbère Luxe
Marrakech

The hotel was located inside the medina, and felt a bit cramped. The hotel staff were amazing and kind, even making us a breakfast package for our very early morning departure from Marrakesh (very useful on a 10 hour Delta flight that provided very little food returning to ATL). They had umbrellas for guest use, very handy given that it rained while we were there. The room we stayed in was designated a "suite". But it was not a suite. It was a very small room (granted, with high ceilings) that left no space for luggage. The "suite part was a bridge from the hotel steps to the room (very tastefully decorated, and gave us space for our luggage), that overlooked our neighbors' room and allowed us to look directly onto the neighbors' "living room"--with their snacks, coats, and even hearing their conversations at full volume because there was no glass or partition shielding them from our view. We were part of their conversation. Ditto for the floor above us. They too had a bridge overlooking the room, and they could hear our conversation/vice versa. this meant that when one of us came in late, the others would be awakened. There was no sense of privacy unless you shut the glass doors of the room (and needless to say, no windows in the room), so a bit suffocating. But again, the staff was lovely. I would not recommend these rooms in that hotel to anyone.

At first, we grumbled about how far a walk it was to our tent (given that it was quite empty due to snowed in roads that had prevented 20 guests from reaching). But we soon realized that the views from our tent were absolutely stunning. Sand dunes, no tents obstructing our views. We were very lucky to have such a great tent. The food was very good. The welcoming reception was lovely--tea and some snacks. The reception room was gorgeous and grand. Loved it! The bonfire was lovely. We just returned from our 7-day Morocco trip. We had a wonderful time. All of the arrangements went very smoothly despite a short-notice reschedule of a couple excursions due to weather disruptions, which is an absolute credit to KimKim and the supporting tour companies (especially Original Travels). Our driver, Hamza, was incredibly punctual and got us everywhere we needed to be and expertly navigated us through the pure chaos that is Moroccan traffic. The hotels and Riads we stayed in were comfortable and accommodating.

Our individual tour guides were each friendly and took us through the locales while giving a rich history of the sites. The guides for the Roman ruins at Volubilis and Fez Medina were standouts and the hot air balloon ride was the absolute highlight of the trip. Our trek into the Imlil Valley was a lovely way to end the trip and the food served by the Berber family that was kind enough to host us was delicious, enhanced further by the wonderful view of the valley from their home.

The one area that could have been better (maybe) was in the planning stage. Our itinerary necessitated fairly long drives on many of the days and it might have been helpful for KimKim to have provided more recommendations within the itinerary to perhaps minimize that further. That said, the itinerary checked off a large swath of the experiences we wanted to have in the relatively short duration of the trip, so it may have been the best one for us. Regardless, the countryside was quite beautiful and our driver Hamza made the journey comfortable.

Thank you again for the wonderful experience!

Despite its specific location on what felt to be a very deserted alley, further complicated by Apple Maps' inaccuracy on how to get to it (Google Maps knows the correct location and will get you there, so use it instead), it was a very comfortable stay and very central to the heart of Marrakech. It made for a great home base from which to explore the market and maze of alleyways. The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating!

Day Trip to Imlil Valley: High Atlas Mountains Adventure & Lunch with a Berber Family
Day Trip to Imlil Valley: High Atlas Mountains Adventure & Lunch with a Berber Family
Marrakesh

A lovely little hike to a waterfall and then onward (upward) to the village for a delicious lunch overlooking the valley, offering yet another taste of the variety of terrain and culture that Morocco offers (especially in late December...solid Tibetan vibes at play). The one element that didn't quite meet our expectation, though not specifically a negative, was that we didn't actually each lunch with anyone from the family hosting it. The food was very delicious and the setting on the house terrace was comfortable with fantastic views, but we were a little bummed to not have the opportunity to talk more with the family hosting us. Nonetheless, it was still a very positive experience!

Our driver Abdellatif (Abdul) was exceptional - a wonderful resource and super flexible. We would not have enjoyed the trip nearly as much without his knowledge and skills. A huge asset! During our trip, we visited much of the country -rural areas as well as cities and the desert. Given the time of year, I do wish we had a bit more information about accommodations prior to arrival. A couple of the riads were very cold and we may have opted to stay outisde the medina in a few instances. In country communication with the KimKim representative was challenging at times - missed calls, lack of understanding. We figured it out but it was not seamless. Local guides were always courteous and friendly. A couple of negatives about tours: in several instances we stopped at specific merchants where we felt pressure to purchase their wares; the food tour in Marrakesh had several sketchy 'stops.' If foreigners are on a food tour, the stops should be vetted ahead of time for cleanliness standards. Lastly, on the night before our early flight, I would have preferred to stay in a hotel outside the medina. We spent the majority of our last day traveling to Marrakesh and transferring ourselves to the riad due to the city congestion. In general, Morocco is a fabulous country with very warm and welcoming people.

Friendly staff. Chilly rooms in winter; would probably be nice in the heat of summer. Steep, narrow steps to rooms. Center courtyad with pool. Traditional family-style breakfast. Rooms are dimly lit with limited outlets - so you can charge your phone or have the light on.

Positives: Very clean. High quality linens and towels. Rooftop with chaise lounges for enjoying the sun. Very friendly staff. We departed before breakfast so no comment on food. Negatives: Rooms were very cold. We arrived for check-in at 2 pm and hoped to have dinner at the riad. Lots of advertisement on the riad site about their delicious dinners. We were informed that the request for dinner must be made 'earlier.' I would suggest that be communicated to guests before their arrival. Also, the rooms all had the faint scent of dirty water - perhaps how the linens are washed or maybe just dampness?

This evening tour was a lot of fun to see the medina/market in the evening. Many stops on this tour so go hungry! My one concern is that the stops need to be vetted for health practices. 2/4 in our party experienced serious stomach issues following this tour. There were a couple of stops with very sketchy food preparation standards. The visit to the spice shop was excellent. We really enjoyed learning about the various spices and uses.

Quality of Experience
Better vetting of the stops -street food is always questionable for foreigners but please select options with some level of health practices in food preparation.

The resort was beautiful, and we spent two wonderful nights in Anilao. Ana and John later picked us up and drove us back to Manila. They were amazing hosts—kind, attentive, and they took great care of us throughout the trip.
