BEST STAY OF THEM ALL

Neat hotel for 2, but had a pull out oversize chair (cot) for third person. Would have preferred two double or two queen beds

Great for a couple, but not for 3. Third bed was a cot rolled into the room

Great room with huge windows. The loft gives extra space with privacy.

Wish we had more time at this one. Again, heated floors in Iceland just hit differently. The washer and dryer was heavenly

We planned on 2 nights here but due to weather, only got to stay for 1 night AND we didn't arrive until 1 am. The staff waited on us, directed us personally to our cabin, made sure we got in and verified we were ok before leaving

Due to weather, we almost has to skip this stop. With some alterations and flexibility, we made it to Sigló and it was more than worth the trip.

The beds here were amazing. The hosts at the desk were kind and helpful. This was our first Iceland breakfast. As a picky eater I was concerned but they had so many options for me to get a wonderful breakfast to start my journey on the ring road

We almost canceled this event and are so glad we went. This was absolutely amazing.

Great rejuvenation after a long flight.

Fantastic location at the bottom of a canyon. Hotel has nice gardens for birding. Located within walking distance of a waterfall hike and 2 km from a Quetzal nest. Food at the restaurant was good and reasonably priced. Restaurant staff was phenomenal! So nice and pleasant and always there (we hope they get to go home sometimes)! The drive in is challenging if you are not used to downshifting and mountain roads. Room was clean. Mattresses were a little worn and need flipping. Did not like that they wanted to charge an additional $10 per person to walk into their birding garden that they have onsite where they put out feeders. That should be included with the room if you are staying there. Or, just put feeders around the grounds. That would be even better.

This hotel was a good start to our trip. After a long flight, it was nice to walk the 1.8 miles into downtown to the artisan market and theatre area and only ~$6 to take Uber back after dark. The hotel room was quiet and clean and they upgraded us to two queen beds which was very nice. The breakfast was plentiful with many options and the staff was helpful and pleasant. We ate dinner in the downtown area before heading back as the options near the hotel looked limited. Overall, a nice stay.

Driver made us late to dinner The restaurant owner sat us in a corner and didn't ignored us for the most part. We didn't eat or drink till almost 10 pm. The food was OK. I would not recommend this particular restaurant or driver.

The interaction between our local guide and the guide inside the Pena Palace was awkward. They had just changed the "rules" and weren't allowing the local guides to conduct the tour inside. There was obvious resentment about the change and it was a bit uncomfortable. Otherwise our guide tried very hard to accommodate us and show us everything we wanted to see.

Fantastic service and nice accommodations. The breakfast buffet was amazing, really amazing. And it started at 7:00 AM so one can get an early start on the day's adventures.

This place is beautiful and the guest services are exceptional. It is about a 20 minute walk into the old town, but most of it is along the shore so not unpleasant and not difficult. The food was very good, my only comment is that I prefer a breakfast buffet rather than an ala carte service. But having said that, what they did offer was very good.

I've rated everything else about our Costa Rica trip very highly because we had a truly amazing trip overall. Hotel La Mariposa was beautiful -- it has the best panoramic views around -- and, truly, our room was perfectly nice and we had no major issues. I want to give credit to 99% of the staff for being friendly, helpful, and housekeeping was excellent. But, overall, the hotel sure is leaning heavily on that stunning view... The restaurant in particular needs improvement. At the same desk where I made our dinner reservation for our grand finale-- our last dinner of the trip, to be had watching the exquisite sunset over the ocean, when we showed up to that desk at said reservation's time, they treated us as though WE had made some mistake when the reservation was missing from their paperwork. Begrudgingly, it seemed, they sat us despite our "missing" reservation-- but behind other tables and poles, blocking that sunset view. Unfulfilled promises of homemade bread. Drinks stamped with past expiration dates. Cold entrees. Inattentive service. Bland meals. Bland welcome drinks. The pool is illuminated at night, neat... but what's with the strobe effect?! (Read the room, this isn't a rave crowd.) Our shower had weak water pressure, low temperatures, and gross mold and mildew all over the caulking. I know these are all nitpicks, but they're so easy to solve that it was frustrating. It just felt like they're depending on that stunning view to make up for mediocrity elsewhere.

The FOOD!!!! But, also, everything else. Well done everyone who works at the resort. The views, the hot springs, gardens, wildlife, friendly faces, yummy food, helpful coordination, all of it. We loved the animals made from blankets by housekeeping =) 10/10 would recommend.

We enjoyed the hotel very much. The staff was super helpful and friendly. We spent a little time in the hotel bar and the lovely young lady who waited on us both times was incredible. So sweet and friendly!

Hera Kim gave us a quick history recap before we left and was right by our side for the entire day. We could not have done it without her help!

Mind blowing! The history .. the architecture. The people and their skill. All was made possible and enjoyable for me. My guide, Ayoub listened to what was of interest to me and surprised me often with getting to experience it all.

It was even more than I ever dreamed it could be. I had been fascinated with zellige for many many years and saw a video that convinced me that I had to go. I almost cried when I saw it. I cried later watching the video and I may even cry now as the memory of it all has resurfaced as I write this. These are tears of joy! Thank you to all who made it possible for me to do this.

So much fun! The cooking class was well-organized. Doña Rosa and her assistant were very good with the kids by letting them take part in the preparations.

The food was delicious. The performance was moving. The venue was incredible. I would have liked the venue to provide some history of the establishment, the performance, and the artist, as well as a timeline of the evening.

Everyone loved the drive, the boat ride, and the lunch at the winery.

My favorite of where we stayed. The atmosphere was amazing with little wooden walk ways through a huge mango tree and other local foliage. A large teekee hut that had a meeger bar and breakfast/snack spot. The pool was clean and warm. And every morning a whole family of howler monkeys visited the mango tree to feast. The next day a family of iguanas visited the pool to sun and get a drink. The service for onsite drinks and food was kindof like if you want something-go find someone and they’ll make it for you. Which worked well enough for us, we had a pitcher of margheritas one night and my husband enjoyed some cervesas by the pool. But most of the time you just walk down the street and choose from one of the many local spots in town. The beach was 5 mins away and beautiful, warm and eclectic. Definitely an experience I’ll never forget!

I loved it! The hot springs were amazing, the pool was clean and warm, the atmosphere was like out of a movie-so much flora and fauna. Rooms were clean, I didn’t see one bug, not sure how they managed that in the middle of a rain forest! I woke up to howler monkey calls and even spotted them. In the trees one day. The breakfast buffet wasn’t over indulgent but had an array of things to choose from and local food which I loved and always a little something for my picky American daughters. Cheese, fruit, fresh breads and pastries, rice platter, local sausage, omelet station, cereal and even pancakes one day. If you are expecting a 5star luxury hotel this isn’t for you-you’ll have to pay more for that and sacrifice authenticity. But if you want to see Costa Rica, be immersed in the wild life and be comfortable and clean doing it this is the place for you! Only thing I didn’t like about it was the distance from the airport. The 4 hour drive was long and windy.

I gave it five stars because it was exactly what I expected. Local authenticity but great clean accommodations at a fair price. Staff was knowledgeable and helpful enough and it was right in the center of town near shops, restaurants and city parks. Loved our stay there!

The Experience My stay in Dharamshala was wonderful. The room was absolutely beautiful and very tastefully decorated. What truly took my breath away was the fantastic view of the nature surrounding the hotel—it was truly amazing and made me feel completely at ease. I felt very comfortable and at home throughout my stay.

Here is a review for the Delhi hotel: Great facilities and staff, but a difficult location for solo travelers Rating: 3/5 stars (Recommended for the interior, not the location) Pros: Amenities: The hotel itself is well-maintained. The rooms are well-equipped, and the overall decor and facilities are of a high standard. Breakfast Quality: When I was able to eat there, the breakfast was excellent with a good variety of options. Cons: Location: This was the biggest drawback. The hotel is situated on a busy main road in an area that does not feel suitable for tourists. After an 18-hour journey, I wanted to be able to walk around or find a local spot to eat, but it felt unsafe and inaccessible for a solo Western woman. I felt "locked in" and unable to explore the neighborhood at all. Logistics/Service: I was disappointed by the lack of flexibility regarding early departures. Despite leaving at 6:00 AM for excursions, the hotel did not provide a packed breakfast or a lunch box. In my experience traveling to other countries, this is standard service. Having to buy my own breakfast on the road because the hotel couldn't provide a box was quite frustrating. Final Thought: If you only need a place to sleep and will be picked up at the door by a driver, the hotel is very nice. However, if you value walkability and a safe-feeling neighborhood to explore on foot, I would recommend looking elsewhere.

Last Day in Delhi I am unable to provide a review for my final day in Delhi because I never got to experience it. My flight from Dharamshala back to Delhi was canceled without a replacement. As a result, I had to be driven four hours to a different airport and did not arrive back at the hotel until very late in the afternoon. Because of these travel complications, I had no time left to see any of the city before my departure. It was a shame to miss out on the final part of the itinerary due to these logistical issues.

Dharamshala was an experience I will never forget for the rest of my life. Everything we did there was absolutely magnificent. The temples, the local villages, the breathtaking views of the Himalayas, and the Kora walk—it was all simply spectacular. I have captured so many wonderful photos, but the memories are even better. This part of the trip was perfect in every single way; it was a true highlight that I will cherish forever.

The Drive & Logistics The trip to the Taj Mahal was a comfortable drive, and the transportation was high quality as usual. However, the start of the day was frustrating. After an 18-hour journey from Germany and arriving late the previous afternoon, I had to leave at 6:00 AM without any breakfast. Even though it was planned differently, no breakfast box was provided. The Experience at the Monument The Taj Mahal itself is beautiful, but the experience was a bit exhausting. I was approached constantly by people wanting to take photos. While I am perfectly capable of saying "no" myself, after the 100th time, it becomes draining. I would have appreciated it if the guide had been more proactive in shielding me from these interruptions so I could enjoy the monument in peace. The Food Situation I want to clarify that I handle heat and spicy Indian food very well—I ate street food in Dharamshala with no issues at all. In Delhi, I was told I should eat at the hotel because the food "outside" is too spicy, yet the restaurant I was taken to after the Taj Mahal served food that was nearly inedible due to the spice level. It felt like a test rather than a meal. I prefer to choose where I eat myself, as I know my own limits best. Final Thoughts While it was a nice excursion and a comfortable trip, it simply did not compare to the magic of Dharamshala. It was a good experience to see the Taj Mahal, but the logistical hiccups and the food situation made it less than perfect.

Feedback on "Free Time": Regarding my free time in Delhi, it was unfortunately impossible to utilize or enjoy. Due to the hotel's location, I felt completely restricted. The hotel was situated directly on a chaotic and dirty main road with no sidewalks or pedestrian access. Stepping out meant being immediately in the middle of heavy traffic and pollution, which was an absolute imposition. As a result, I could not leave the hotel at all during my free time. I had hoped to explore the local area or walk to a nearby restaurant, but the surroundings were not suitable or safe for a solo tourist to walk around. I ended up spending my entire free time confined to the hotel. I have since learned that there are many beautiful hotel complexes, especially near the airport or in other districts, that offer safe green spaces and walkable surroundings. I am very disappointed that I was placed in an area that made it impossible to experience the city during my downtime. It felt like a missed opportunity to see Delhi.
