One of the most amazing parts of the trip. We didn’t even stop walking as we went through the Hanoi airport and passport control. Our guide took our passports, took care of the entry stamps while we went straight to baggage claim and picked up our bags. We were out of the airport before many of our fellow passengers even cleared passport control.

Just returning from an incredible 10 day family trip to Ecuador and Galápagos Islands.
Our planning for this trip started with Alvaro, who worked tirelessly planning a trip that would appeal to all ages and abilities.
The communication with so many “moving parts” , was outstanding!
A short time before our trip was going to start, Alvaro introduced us to Ibeth, who was our contact person until we touched ground back in Canada. I’m not sure if she actually sleeps, because she responded instantly with all questions and requests! We met her on a video call before leaving which was very helpful for all.
Our guides in each and every stop were knowledgeable, kind and extremely flexible with our requests. True professionals!
Matteo, in Quito, communicated to Fabricio in San Cristobal that our youngest granddaughter was showing signs of altitude sickness, so that he was aware and offered a stop at a pharmacy if needed.
Fabricio was so passionate and knowledgeable at the breeding station.
Gabriel, on Isabella Island was the very same when it came to our snorkeling adventures as well. Gabriel was also able to obtain a missing suitcase for our 11 year old- so she didn’t miss out on our snorkel trip - he really came through for us!
As you can see, there is a theme here- kudos to James, Phillipe and Andreas as well!
Our accommodations were perfect for our family- small, family run hotels, with good breakfasts in the am and locations to restaurants, beaches, etc, were excellent.
Thanks to all that made this a once in a lifetime trip for our entire family!

Relaxing, accommodating hotel! We spent three nights total and we found that staff were very helpful and professional! We were able to store a bag for our return and they found an e-book that was left in the safe! Their complimentary breakfast was 5 Star! My only criticism would be the lack of a wine list - very little choice, considering the abundance of South American wines.

Jesse planned a wonderful trip and handled the logistics for wonderful accommodations, local transportation and several in-country flights. Moreover, due to a forecast of snow storm hitting Boston on the day of our departure, we rebooked our flights and left two days early. We contacted Jesse that morning and she quickly adjusted the Santiago hotel reservation and our airport transfer.

We began our trip with Eliseo meeting us at the Santiago airport. He provided efficient transportation and great local guidance, all with good humor. Soledad, who guided us through Santiago, Valparaiso and Vina del Mar, was very knowledgeable of the cities, the history Chile and gave helpful advice. Sebastian, who led our hike in the Andes, gave us a pointers for negotiating the terrain; that came in very handy in later hikes.

In the Atacama desert we greatly enjoyed touring the Valley of the Moon and the salt flats, led by Daniel, and the very refreshing swim in the lagoon with Ernie.

We enjoyed our stay in Punta Arenas and visiting with a good friend. While there we also visited the penguins on Magdalena Island and the sea lions on Marta Island; both were well worth the rough sail and gale-force winds.

While we enjoyed trekking Torres del Paine and the views were spectacular, the 3 hikes tested our limits. The next day we sailed to Perito Moreno glacier; the calving was dramatic. Another day of hiking, this time with Renaldo, to Laguna and Cerro Torre; again, pushing us to our limits.

We enjoyed our stay in Ushuaia, a fun town with the unique claim of the southern-most city in the world. While there we were taken trekking and rafting in Tierra del Fuego National Park with Juan Sebastian. We greatly enjoyed his tour; he shared tons of information and made the day very fun.

Our final stop was Buenos Aires, the one place where we wished we had more time. Our tour included a dinner and tango show - better than we expected - and an all-day bike tour led by Pablo through several neighborhoods - one of the highlights of our trip. On our last day in Buenos Aires we squeezed in tours of the Teatro Colon, Palacio del Congreso and El Ateneo Grand Splendid bookstore.

She was also very kind in organizing a Happy Birthday cake for me at the Simple Patagonia hotel. Was very much appreciated. All the hotels she picked were excellent and all the hotel personnel were very kind and helpful.

The arranged excursions were very good and the guides were generally very good, especially Dani and Felipe in the Atacama region and Nico in Patagonia and Jose Ike in Easter Island. On a couple of instances the guides took off ahead of the group and some of us were left behind and were not able to hear some of the information. When dealing with older folks the guides need to be aware that some folks don’t walk as fast as other younger folks.

All in all a great experience and worth a recommendation for anyone that wants to use kimkim to tour Chile.

All of the private taxi arrangements and booked activities went perfectly. Our hotels were centrally located and made it easy to walk to areas of interest. My only caveat is that I emphasized that we were interested in nature and viewing scenery from The Lord of the Rings. However, in Queenstown we were booked on the gondola ride, which was very crowded and chaotic. The scenery from the gondola was spectacular but it was so quick for the price. Fortunately, next door we discovered the Kiwi Park Sanctuary, which houses rare and beautiful native birds. It was the same price as the gondola but we were able to be there for a couple of hours and it was a much more congenial experience. The cruises we were booked on were wonderful and we had great luck with the weather. The Fiordland cruise did rain part of the trip but this was not unexpected due to its normal climate.

Monika responded promptly and courteously to all of our communications. She ensured that our dietary needs were met at the Māori Experience dinner. She provided contact information in the event we needed assistance during our trip. We were all very pleased with the arrangements.

This location was actually an air bnb. The upper floor is where the owners reside when they are using their vacation home. Our unit was on the ground floor. This meant that we could hear them walking overhead and water through the plumbing. They did provide a washing machine but no dryer. They did have an outdoor line or indoor drying rack but if you’re staying for only a quick stop, your clothes may not get dry. The kitchenette was very small, just a hot plate and no prep space. Underwhelming. Admittedly we had cloudy skies but the VR alternative was sadly rather amateurish and somewhat boring. Additionally, the “hot springs “ were just a chlorinated pool. Since it was outdoors in the dark it felt a little scary trying to traverse our way to the pool. The guide did a good job sharing Māori legends about the night sky.

Trying to capture the trip Nick so thoughtfully stitched together for us is no easy task—I’ve honestly been putting this off because I wasn’t sure I could do it justice.

My aunt and I began our journey with a challenging jungle trek that pushed us far beyond our comfort zones. We navigated slippery boulders, heavy rain, deep mud, and dense greenery where the trail often seemed to disappear entirely. It tested us physically, but also left us with a deep sense of accomplishment and confidence. We climbed over landslides by swinging from trees, crossed broken bridges, endured relentless leech encounters, and—however slowly—proved to ourselves that we could do it. Along the way, we formed meaningful connections with our guides and hosts, who cooked for us, shared stories, and made the experience so so special.

To everyone’s surprise (especially our own), we completed the through-hike and continued on to stay with a local family in Sabah. Easter and her family welcomed us with extraordinary warmth, as did every host we met throughout the trip. We were invited into their lives in such a genuine way—through shared meals, conversations, music, and traditions. They taught us local dances and songs played on gongs passed down through generations, and showed us what true community looks like. We learned to bake rolls, fry fish, experiment with new ingredients, and even how to properly enjoy eggs—with white pepper and soy sauce. These moments of cultural exchange are something we’ll carry with us forever.

From there, we explored local markets before heading to the Kinabatangan River. The lodge Nick chose for us was perfect—well-organized, welcoming, and run by an incredibly knowledgeable team. Every river cruise ran seamlessly, and we only wished we had stayed longer. Seeing wildlife in that setting felt almost surreal—the night walks, day treks, and boat rides were so magical. I've never seen stars so clearly. And watching wild elephants and orangutans moving freely in their natural habitat was one of those rare moments that hardly feels real, even as it’s happening.
(I took over 7,000 photos with my Nikon Z8 - which you can see @j_denmark)

Throughout the trip, every driver Nick arranged was punctual, kind, and went above and beyond to help us. Whether it was tracking down dry rice on the side of the road to help protect my damp camera or finding a local market where we could try tuak, their thoughtfulness never went unnoticed.

From a planning perspective, Nick was exceptional. He answered every question with patience, welcomed every idea, and helped refine our plans again and again—we must have reworked the itinerary half a dozen times or more. His insight and enthusiasm made the entire process feel collaborative and exciting, and in the end, he brought my vision to life in a way that exceeded every expectation. I look forward to using KimKim again one day, especially when trying to accomplish a lot into a brief trip.

I am incredibly grateful to Nick for creating such a meaningful, adventurous, and unforgettable experience for my aunt and I.

The excursions were unforgettable. Dog mushing was such a thrill, ice fishing was peaceful and unique, and spending the day with the a reindeer herders wife, and family was incredibly special and authentic. These experiences, in particular, are something we will never forget.

Every detail was perfectly planned. Our stay at the Hotel Fabian was absolutely wonderful—such a great location in Helsinki and beautiful accommodations—and the cabin in Lapland was truly magical. It felt like something out of a dream and gave us such a unique and memorable experience.

What we appreciated most was how seamless and stress-free everything felt. Even after our flight was cancelled, Moonika stepped right in and adjusted our itinerary. We were able to fully enjoy every moment knowing everything had been so thoughtfully arranged.

Thank you for creating such a meaningful and unforgettable trip for us. This is our second time using kimkim (first trip was to Norway) and we are so grateful- can’t wait to plan our next adventure with you!

Hotel Fabian
Helsinki

Our stay at Hotel Fabian in Helsinki was absolutely wonderful and the perfect way to end our Finland trip. From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere felt warm, stylish, and welcoming. The hotel itself is beautifully designed—modern yet cozy, with thoughtful touches that make you feel right at home. Our room was spacious, spotless, and comfortable, making it easy to relax after a day of exploring the city. One of the standout aspects of Hotel Fabian is its location. It’s perfectly situated within walking distance to so many of Helsinki’s highlights, yet still feels peaceful and tucked away. What truly made our stay special was the staff. Everyone we encountered was friendly, helpful, and genuinely invested in making our experience great. Whether it was recommendations, directions, or just a warm greeting, their hospitality did not go unnoticed. Hotel Fabian strikes the perfect balance between boutique charm and high-end comfort. We would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Helsinki!

From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with such warmth and hospitality that we instantly felt at home, despite being so far from it. Though no one helped us to our cabin with such heavy luggage and mushy snow, the cabins were beautifully designed—cozy, modern, and perfectly positioned to take in the stunning Arctic surroundings and gave us a deeper appreciation for the beauty and culture of Lapland. If you’re looking for a once-in-a-lifetime Arctic getaway, Aurora Village is it. We left with full hearts and amazing memories.

Our stay at Lapin Park Tintti Eco Cabin was truly unforgettable. From the moment we arrived, we were struck by how peaceful and beautifully remote the setting was—surrounded by pristine nature, it felt like stepping into a winter dream. The cabin itself was cozy, thoughtfully designed, and perfectly balanced rustic charm with modern comfort. Everything felt intentional, and you can really appreciate the eco-conscious approach without sacrificing comfort. What truly made this experience exceptional, though, was Terhi and Arto. They went above and beyond in every possible way to make our stay special. Their warmth, kindness, and genuine hospitality made us feel more like welcomed guests than visitors. Whether it was sharing stories, helping us experience the local culture, or simply making sure we were comfortable, they added such a personal and meaningful touch to our trip. The entire experience felt authentic, peaceful, and deeply memorable. If you’re looking for a unique getaway that connects you with nature while also offering heartfelt hospitality, Lapin Park Tintti Eco Cabin is something truly special. One of the highlights was simply soaking in the peaceful pace of the city. Helsinki has a calm, welcoming energy that makes you feel instantly at ease, yet there’s still so much to see and do. From the stunning churches to the scenic harbor, every moment felt special. Northern Lights Tour with Professional Photos

Our Northern Lights tour with professional photos was a decent experience overall—some nice highlights, but a few things that could have been better. Our guide was friendly and tried his best to create a positive atmosphere throughout the evening. He was organized and made sure everyone was taken care of, which we appreciated. The location itself was beautiful, and being out under the Arctic sky was a special experience regardless. We did see the Northern Lights but we did feel like our tour guide was in a rush to drop us off. He drove to 2 different locations and then that was it for the night. We did not get the professional photos until we got back from our trip and they were just ok. They were dark, cut off and a bit blurry. The turnaround time and/or communication around receiving them could have been clearer. It would have helped to know exactly what to expect ahead of time. Overall, it was a good experience but not quite as memorable as some of the other excursions we did in Lapland. With a few improvements and a bit more luck with the aurora, it could easily be a standout experience.

Our private glass roof sleigh ride and traditional winter net fishing excursion in Lapland was beyond incredible—truly a five-star plus experience and one we will never forget. From start to finish, everything felt exclusive, peaceful, and perfectly curated. The glass-roof sleigh ride was absolutely magical. Gliding through the quiet, snow-covered landscape while being able to look up at the open sky was such a surreal experience. It felt like we were completely immersed in the Arctic wilderness, with a sense of calm and beauty that’s hard to put into words. The traditional winter net fishing was just as memorable and unique. Learning the process from Arto, hearing the history behind it, and actually experiencing it firsthand gave us such an appreciation for this time-honored way of life. It wasn’t just an activity—it was a meaningful cultural experience that connected us to the land and traditions of Lapland. By far- my favorite excursion ever! What truly elevated this experience was the private, personalized nature of it all. Our guide Arto, was exceptional—knowledgeable, patient, and genuinely passionate. We never felt rushed and were able to fully take in each moment, ask questions, and enjoy the experience at our own pace. Every detail was thoughtfully done, and you could feel the authenticity behind it. Between the serene sleigh ride and the hands-on fishing experience, it struck the perfect balance of relaxation, adventure, and cultural immersion. Our day with the reindeer herder’s wife and family in Lapland was truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience—easily a five-star highlight of our trip. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed like family into a way of life that felt both deeply authentic and incredibly special. Spending time learning about the traditions, culture, and daily rhythms of reindeer herding was so meaningful. Hearing her stories and seeing firsthand the connection between her family and the reindeer gave us a whole new appreciation for this unique lifestyle. It didn’t feel like a “tour” at all—it felt personal, genuine, and heartfelt. The day was beautifully paced, allowing us to really take it all in—from interacting with the reindeer to enjoying the peaceful surroundings of the snowy landscape, then preparing a wonderful reindeer meal followed by some arts and crafts. There was something so calming and grounding about being there, away from everything, immersed in nature and tradition. What made the experience unforgettable was her warmth and hospitality. You could feel the pride she has in her heritage and the joy she takes in sharing it with others. It left a lasting impression on us and gave us memories we will cherish forever. Our husky safari with Sustainable Wilderness in Lapland was truly one of the highlights of our entire trip. From the moment we arrived, everything felt authentic, well-organized, and thoughtfully designed with both guests and the animals in mind. The team was incredibly warm and knowledgeable, taking the time to explain how to safely guide the sled and sharing insights about the dogs and their care. It was clear how much they genuinely love and respect their huskies—the dogs were well cared for, energetic, and clearly excited to run. Gliding through the snowy Lapland wilderness behind a team of huskies was nothing short of magical. The scenery was breathtaking—peaceful, untouched, and straight out of a postcard. It felt like such a special way to experience the Arctic landscape. What stood out most was Sustainable Wilderness’s commitment to ethical and sustainable practices. You can truly feel that they prioritize the wellbeing of their animals and the environment, which made the experience even more meaningful. If you’re visiting Lapland, this is an absolute must-do.
