We weren’t thrilled with the Olissippo hotel in Lisbon or the tuktuk tour in Lisbon but the rest of the trip was fantastic and an amazing experience. Other tours were super fun and immersive and the other hotels were very hospitable and felt like a nice vacation.

Our guide mostly took us to photo spots, we felt we missed seeing a lot of the city and actual sites people go to in Lisbon. Compared to walking tours in other cities we didn’t feel like we got a very personal /immersive tour just driving around. The streets in Lisbon are also very bumpy so it became very uncomfortable as the guide would zip through the streets of Lisbon.

I was very happy with the way the trip turned out especially since we started planning it very late. I don't remember when in April we actually got paired with Joao but we wanted to travel in late May so he didnt have much time to put something together and we changed our minds a few times! He did a great job with lodging, especially the Grand Real Villa Italia in Cascais and the Britania Art Deco in Lisbon. Both were in great locations so that we could walk around both cities!
He hired very good drivers - they were on time , knowledgeable and very friendly. They also could recommend places to eat and things to see in each location.
In Lisbon we did the side car tour of the city, which my entire family agrees was the best way to see Lisbon! The company was Bike By My Side and they were excellent! They were very passionate about Lisbon and Portugal and spoke English very well!
In Porto, we a gastronomic tour. That tour was ok. The guide Sara was very good, but the choices of food were not. We were expecting more items that were truly Portugese - we had a charcuterie board, bifana sandwich(which is Portugese) and then olive oil tasting and chocolate.
In Cascais we visited the village Sintra and did the Pena Palace hotel. The grounds of the Palace are extraordinary and worth touring. The palace was very crowded and if you have seen one palace in Europe you have seen them all. I would do the grounds skip the palace.
Joao had many other suggestions for us but we wanted to do our own exploring, so those were the onlyntours we did.
Joao and his team were always available via Whatsapp. They would respond right away!
I would definitely use him again!

I had a hard time deciding on how many stars to rate the service we received through Valeria (per Kimkim). On one hand, Valeria was at all times professional, responsive, friendly and thorough. She helped us plan a trip to Rome and Tuscany. And, for the most part she delivered on what we asked for. However she made one very big mistake - our rental in Tuscany. We asked for a house that was walking distance to town, as we would not have a rental car. We like to bike and said we’d be happy biking into town as well. Valeria booked us into the Villa Monica which is only 2K from Greve (the nearest town). She said it was walkable and we could ride the bikes at the villa. However, the road to town is a main highway with cars going very fast and no sidewalk or walking path. No one walks on it as it is too dangerous. She also assured us there was taxi service in Greve but that is not true. There was no taxi service and no Uber, Lyft or other rideshare. This made going into town almost an impossibility. There is a bus but the schedule is unreliable. For example, one evening my daughters took the bus to pick up food only to find there was no return bus so they had to walk along the dangerous road carrying all the food. My husband tried riding one of the bikes into town but, again, the roads were very dangerous with blind turns and the bike was in terrible condition with the brakes barely working. So, with a dangerous road, no rental car and a town without taxis we were unable to go into town to have dinner or coffee etc. and grocery shopping was a huge challenge. The other problem with Villa Monica is that the photos Valeria sent did not match the reality of the home. The main floor rooms are dark with old, shabby, uncomfortable furniture and the house has a very moldy, musty smell. Luckily it was sunny enough to keep the doors open so we could air out the top two floors but the lower floors were impossible to be in due to the awful smell. The best rooms were the kitchen and sunroom. As to the bedrooms, the photos showed a room with bunk beds which we were expecting but there were only single beds so our guests had to share, 2 to a bed. Another disappointment was that the house was not well supplied so we had to buy toilet paper, paper towels, tissues, dishwashing soap and detergent for the dishwasher. That is not something I expect in a luxury rental. The gardens outside were beautiful and we enjoyed being outside. The pool was nice but the photo of the tennis court does not match the reality. It looks new in the photo but in fact it is quite old with big cracks in the concrete and clearly has not been maintained well. In sum, Villa Monica was not the luxury Tuscan villa we had expected, very inconvenient for vacationers without a rental car.

Valeria is based in Rome and it was clear she knows the accommodations there. She booked us in the Fortyseven Hotel which is centrally located, very comfortable with excellent service. We enjoyed our time there very much. Also, all the tours she arranged were excellent and we loved our guides: Marco on the golf cart, Claudia at the Vatican and Alicia on the bike trip. We learned so much and had a great time. The tours in Tuscany were fabulous. Leonardo led us on an amazing bike tour, we loved having lunch at La Piaggia as well as the farm tour and cheese tasting at Il Podele. Eleanora was our guide for truffle hunting and the cooking class and it was so interesting to talk with her about Tuscany and her love of languages. Guissepe was an amazing truffle hunter with his dog Bibi who we all loved. And the cooking class with Andrea and Eliza was incredible as well as the tour of Sandro’s vineyards and wine making operation.

Also all our transfers worked out perfectly. All drivers were punctual, professional and friendly and we are grateful for their service. We especially loved Manuel who drove us 3 times and helped us immensely.

So, Valeria did many things wonderfully well however it was offset by the poor advice on Tuscan lodging. We use travel agents specifically to avoid situations like that so it was quite a disappointment when we realized she was not familiar with Greve transportation, with the state of the villa or with anticipating how difficult it would be for - 7 people with no reliable transportation to buy food or go to restaurants, sight see in town, etc.

Day visit to Siena and San Gimignano - guide in Siena included

The day visit to Siena and San Gimignano was just okay. Our guide in Siena, unfortunately, spent too much time inside a church despite the tour being advertised as mostly outdoors. We were eager to explore on our own, and this slowed the experience down.

KimKim was very helpful in planning a trip custom to what we wanted to do! Many other travel planning companies are tightly packed, with little room for flexibility or choice in the schedule. However, with KimKim, I could pick the things we wanted to do, and they would suggest the best-fitting options. They were very communicative during the planning process and throughout the trip, addressing any questions that arose.

I was glad they could organize transportation, which relieved the stress of having to figure out the best deal and option. Many of the drivers who were involved in the pickups they scheduled were very kind and knowledgeable on each island. Our favorite meals in Naxos and Paros were both recommended by two different drivers. They were fantastic tavernas with incredible and authentic food and atmosphere. The hotels they advised and booked were also all in optimal locations with invaluable and kind staff that made the trip even more special.

Most of our tours were incredible with expert guides, especially the wine tour and the island tour in Santorini! They were the perfect pace and great experiences. Only one tour in Paros that KimKim suggested was not as advertised, but that was more a result of the specific tour company. KimKim handled the reimbursement in a quick and understanding manner. It was a relief that they took the stress out of our hands and allowed us to have a fun and relaxing vacation.

I had a wonderful time in Greece. A few hiccups arose regarding our room specifications, but they were very helpful in amending the situation. I highly recommend KimKim, and I could see myself using them again in the future. :)

Manos Small World Santorini

Hard to beat the view and location! There are so many restaurants and shopping nearby, it gave us the ability to explore readily. The area was busy with tourists, though, so keep that in mind if you want to stay in a less hot spot area. It was nice to step out of the room and have our table with an umbrella to sit out and enjoy the view of the ocean. The staff was also very accommodating. One member carried our heavy luggage up and down the steep stairs! The stairs are something to keep in mind, though, if you have trouble walking. Our group, with members ranging in age from 27 to 70, managed alright, but it took some time. The breakfast they deliver to your room was good, but it was one set option, the same each time. Overall, though, we had a great experience staying there.

Absolutely beautiful view of the ocean and the beach within a mere few paces of the hotel. It made it easy to go back and forth between relaxing by the pool, taking a dip, going to the beach, and going back to the hotel again. There's a lot of windsailing in the hotel right next to it, which makes it hard to swim in one section of the water, but the rest of it is up for grabs. The staff was attentive, knowledgeable, and kind. The food and drinks were excellent, even though a bit pricey. The breakfast bar, however, was a stellar deal and offered many options. The hotel also helped organize and pick ups at the hotel we needed for transport.

The experience we had at this hotel was excellent! The attendants at the pool bar were readily available and kind. They helped suggest places to go on the island and were happy to chat. The hotel staff were also very helpful in organizing car pickups to the places we wanted to visit. The pool is small but relaxing. The cook offered authentic food, came out, and gave us a dessert specific to her home village! There are nearby restaurants and a beach we could walk to. I highly recommend the taverna Giannoulis.

Sunset & Wine Tasting Experience

Our driver and guide were excellent! She knew a great deal about the wines and locations. She also made everyone, including those like me with less knowledge of wine, feel comfortable. Any opinion on the taste was okay, and while she showed us the proper tasting technique, she said not to worry, and we didn't have to do it every time if we didn't wish to. It was great to learn about the history of wine making on the island, as well as how Santorini is unique.

Paris is beautiful. Impressed with the old building architecture. Amboise visit was great. Chateaus are very intersting

The guides that Emilie booked for us were very knowledgeable, courteous and enjoyable to spend time with. I especially liked our Versailles guide (I am horrible with names, and I can’t find my notes, sorry), he was fun & his knowledge of the history of Versailles & the era was impressive.

A perfect trip!
Our transfer from the airport to our first hotel was seamless. We participated in multiple activities including a hike around a volcano, a guided hanging bridges hike, swimming at a waterfall, and sailing and snorkeling. We had great guides including Alex and Marion! We had a few questions along the way and communicating with the KimKim team was easy. We received responses quickly. We had an amazing trip! Our itinerary covered three major Indonesian islands, Java, Sulawesi, and Bali, and it allowed us to learn about rich and diverse Indonesian culture, history and people from many different angles. Marc, our tour specialist, was very helpful at all stages of tour planning and execution, very flexible, easy to reach at all times by phone/text/zoom. At some point we decided to change the original itinerary by skipping the Java volcano climbs and proposed to replace them with a 4-day visit to Sulawesi with its incredible Bugis and Toraja villages. Marc was very supportive of this idea and quickly re-arranged our tour, which required quite significant changes and a slew of new bookings of hotels, flights, guides, local transportation, etc. Just before the trip we learned that Borobudur and Prambanan temples would be closed on two out of three days that we were supposed to spend there (I wish we knew about it earlier, before we booked our flights so we could change the dates). So, we had to rearrange our itinerary to accommodate this circumstance. Again, Marc was very helpful in fixing this issue. We were generally very happy with the hotels that Marc booked for us, they were comfortable, clean, located in beautiful surroundings and had a boutique feel to them. The only partial exception was our last hotel in Bali, Sun of Granary Resort. While beautifully located among rice fields, with helpful staff, our rooms for some reason were rather humid (with damp smell and a little damp linen), and our air conditioning wasn't able to cure this problem. Of course, the weather in Indonesia is generally very humid, but in all other hotels we did not encountered this issue. Our tour guides in Java (Fakikh) and Sulawesi (Robi) were excellent, very knowledgeable, enthusiastic, with good grasp of English. The tour guide in Bali (Sridana) was OK, but less engaging, perhaps partially because his English was sometimes difficult to understand. On the other hand, Sridana was punctual and took good care of us. The drivers on all three islands were excellent, it was important since driving in Indonesia is not easy to say the least. I am a good driver, but I would not risk driving there myself.

To summarize, overall our trip was a very pleasant and memorable experience, and we certainly recommend Marc as your customized tour operator.

I cannot recommend our trip planner Sara highly enough! From the moment we reached out to her for our first trip to Croatia, she was incredibly helpful and attentive. She worked seamlessly with my husband and me online, organizing everything we needed for our trip.
We were traveling for a wedding and wanted to make the most of our time in Croatia, exploring various cities and going on a few excursions. Our consultant, Tom Christer, planned a remarkable trip for us. From start to finish, we travelled by bus, boat, train and car taking in Norway’s special grandeur of mountains, fjords and seascapes.
We arrived in time for National Day and thoroughly enjoyed being part of the celebration.
A real highlight was our time in the Lofoten Islands and then going up to Andenes. Puffins, sea eagles and orcas plus the scenic fishing villages provided daily delight.
I can’t say enough good things about Tom, who is so responsive and helpful.
I’ve travelled widely and this trip exceeded my expectations.

The trip was absolutely amazing and Marija did a fabulous job at coordinating all of our activities and meeting time for drivers! Everything went smoothly and couldn’t have asked for more 💕

We had the most incredible trip. Marta communicated with us almost weekly until we left for the trip so were informed and felt prepared. We collaborated to create the itinerary, but she picked great hotels and tours that made our trip even more special. Some of the highlights were our private tour guide in Siena, our apartment in Florence, Mariel & the food tour in Rome, and our farm stay hotel outside of Sorrento. We felt that we were able to see and do so much, while having the perfect amount of days in each city. Throughout our trip, Marta and Jessica were proactive in sending our driver details for the next day and their contact details information. We will definitely be using this service on future trips. Thank you again for giving my family the trip of a lifetime!

The property is so so gorgeous. All of the staff were very professional and eager to help. The only downside was that dinners weren’t great, but breakfast service was delicious and they have a free hourly shuttle to Sorrento where you could grab dinner instead.

Pedro has been an incredible asset to our wonderful trip to Portugal! From the beginning in the planning stages and all through the process, this vacation has been wonderful. We were treated to first class private transportation services that were on time, personable and highly informative, especially Carlos. The Mercedes vans were new and very comfortable. The tours that Pedro organized for us were incredible as well as each hotel stay. Overall, our 12 day adventure was over the top exceptional! Thank you!

Matilde put a prefect trip together for me and my granddaughter. All her suggestions were spot on and we enjoyed all our hotels and breakfasts at the cities she chose for us. Our trip was independent but with tours and suggestions for how to get around, restaurants and places to see and explore. It was easy to switch things up to accommodate the weather so everyday we had a plan and something to do. Thank you for a wonderful trip!
