Our trip to Italy was our third experience using kimkim. We had a wonderful trip. We enjoyed the two hotels, in Venice and in Florence, which were well-located and accommodated the three of us women in one room really well. Where I feel improvement could have been made was in planning that went beyond the usual tours to allow us to see more off-the-beaten path parts of Florence and its surrounding areas, in particular. Our tour guides for our small group tours were very good, especially the two guides who work for Walks. Francesca, our daily contact, was good in touching base the night before (missed a day or two), and answered questions as needed. Overall, we appreciated the structure provided by kimkim and especially the choice of accommodations that put us in the center of things.

La Maison du Sage

From check-in to help with dinner reservations to complimentary evening bubbly in the courtyard to ample breakfast in a beautiful room, the Maison du Sage was top-notch. Our room was comfortable for three women in a king bed and single bed, with additional space on the balcony and the shared living areas of the flat. Beautiful decor and authentic details of the vintage building enhanced the experience. Great location within a 20-minute walk to key Florence sites.

Well-located, nice room with high, beamed ceilings and wonderful canal views. The three of us were very comfortable in the queen bed and single bed. Breakfast was nicely presented and filling. The hotel is a short walk from the Ca ‘d’Oro stop on the Grand Canal and walking distance to others. Great local restaurant at the corner, which was recommended by hotel front desk.

Half Day-Trip to Pisa from Florence

While we enjoyed our trip to Pisa, and our driver was personable and prompt, we felt we could have used the train to get here. The tower is exactly as you’ve seen in photos. The surrounding park quite crowded. The highlight for me was the cemetery building adjacent, which is lined with frescoes and Roman sarcophagi, and the floor, with beautiful, but sad, graves, engraved with likenesses and inscribed with Latin verses.

Masterpieces of the Renaissance: Uffizi Gallery Tour

A highlight of our stay in Florence, the Uffizi Gallery building alone is worth the visit. The art displayed includes well-known paintings and sculptures you will not want to miss. Our guide was knowledgeable and put the works we saw in context. She was helpful in navigating the entry and security lines which were abundant and mystifying. The art and the building are worth lingering over. We stopped in the rooftop cafe for lunch just as a heavy rain shower broke out, so sat under umbrellas, enjoyed our spritzes and sandwiches and waited for it to blow over.

Best of Florence Walking Tour with David & the Duomo

Our group tour with 16 people and a guide was very good. The “Walks” guide, Alma, studied art in Florence and never left so she had many stories and experiences to share. We had fast entry tickets to The Academia, where we visited Michelangelo’s David, one of the highlights of my Italy trip. The museum/school is set up so you approach David down a long gallery where other significant marble statues helped her explain the process of carving and finishing these works. At the end, you see David under a dome, beautifully lit, where you can approach very closely. The tour continued to the exterior of Duomo, the Baptistery, and the Ponte Vecchio, finishing at the historic central point of Florence, so most of the highlights of central Florence were included. Great tour made better by an enthusiastic guide.

Murano Excursion with boat

A guide met us at our hotel and walked us to the water taxi dock on the northern edge of Venice, about a 10-minute walk. We were ushered onto a beautiful motor launch and zipped across the lagoon to Murano. We were deposited at the dock of Venier, the glass blower, where a guide seated us in the glassblowing room where we watched a demonstration of their craft. A tour of their showroom followed. Pretty strong sales push by our guide and I did buy a pitcher and glasses they will ship to me. When we left the studio, their launch took us to the lighthouse water taxi stop and we jumped on another boat to Burano where we had lunch.

A beautiful palazzo on the Grand Canal, filled with amazing, historic, important art, as well as the ghosts of the famous artists and patrons who frequented it when Ms. Guggenheim was alive. Great view of the Grand Canal from her front entrance. Charming garden where she and her pets are laid to rest.

We had a fantastic time exploring Iceland! Starting off at the Blue Lagoon was a great idea, from there we explored Reykjavik (parking and restrooms were a bit of a challenge), the city is a fun mix of new and old with great street art.
I felt like I was driving in a video game as we traveled from one beautiful site to another. My favorite waterfall is a toss up between the Gullfoss and Seljalandsfoss (these were very crowded with bus tours).
The Katla Ice Cave adventure was a blast! We had the best tour guide, Alex, he was full of information and entertaining for all.
We also took a boat tour of the JÖKULSÁRLÓN GLACIER LAGOON, we had never seen anything like this, it was spectacular! We arrived at high tide for the diamond beach but it was still very beautiful.
In Húsavík we all went for a whale watching trip, we saw a humpback whale, this was also very fun.
We had great meals throughout the week we all tried some new things and really enjoyed the hospitality of all of the restaurants we visited.
The hotels were also great, my favorite was the Hrafnavellir Guest House. The owner and host was wonderful, she served the best breakfast as she is also the chef. The single unit cabins are beautiful and offer great views of the mountains and sheep, just wonderful!
We hope to return and explore again, we would like to see some things that are not so “touristy” and less crowded. Thank you Gudmundur Oli for guiding us on our adventure.

Kimkim was amazing! We had so many unlikely things happen through no fault of the agency, just weather related and hiking accidents, and yet because of all their hard work and communication we still had the best time! As first time international travellers I was very nervous but they made everything so easy!
At the beginning of our trip Sophia was an phenomenal guide through the Acropolis and really helped us understand to roots of Greek culture
At the end of our trip Adonis gave us the most amazing snorkeling/kayaking tour in Santorini that left our sides aching with laughter and our minds full of the wonderous beauty we saw.
I wish I could remember the name of every driver, waiter and hotel worker we interacted with because everyone was above and beyond kind! Thank you, Kimkim for the trip of a lifetime

Our local specialist from kimkim (Raquel) arranged a wonderful personalized trip for us to Portugal. We really appreciated all the effort she put into arranging our itinerary, accommodations and activities in each location.
All the local guides were all excellent. We especially enjoyed the Foodie experience and Guided Visit (Andre) in Porto. In Lisbon, we loved the Fado evening, the Get to Know Lisbon tour (Jose) and Small group excursion to Sintra (Ricardo). All of the guides were fabulous and so informative and friendly.

The small boutique hotel in Porto (Casa dos Loios) was in a superb location for walking everywhere and the buffet breakfast was delightful. Our room at the Dear Lisbon Gallery House in Lisbon was also large and lovely. It was so nice to have the travel arranged by kimkim for the train to Lisbon and the car rental to drive to Algarve. Kimkim and Raquel saved us so much time in planning this trip for us.

For issues we had during travel, we found the customer service to be very responsive too.

It was fun to be introduced to some of the local dishes and drinks of the region

Morocco we loved you. From the people, food, music and of course their Moroccan whiskey (tea). It’s been about a month and my husband and I still talk about the experience we had. We have never hired someone to book our accommodations and this was by far the best way to get a real feel for this country. We had an incredible trip in Italy thanks to Marina! She helped make some decisions for us on where to go, and provided great excursions to make an it an immersible experience.

I would like to Thank You and your team for planning this trip that included multiple hotels, flights, and private car transportation for all 3 cities (Sydney, Cairns, Melbourne) along with the multiple excursions with detailed itinerary - Moreover, your follow up Zoom call scheduled directly before our departure from the USA to Australia - very much appreciated with this level of detail and service. Everything went according to plan and itinerary while we were in Australia. When we plan to visit New Zealand in the future, I would absolutely work with kimkim again.

Alfonso and Uhani were wonderful! Alfonso listened to our requests for the trip and even guided on us on things we didn't know we needed to do (i.e. olive oil farm & cooking classes were both a must but we would not have added them to our itineraries without his suggestions). And he made magic happen when there was an event we really wanted to attend that was sold out - he got us tickets!

The trip planning went more smoothly than I could imagine and while we were on the trip, they checked in regularly (but not too much / intrusively) and it gave us such piece of mind to know that they were only a quick call / text away should there be any issues.

Would not hesitate to use them again and recommend others to do so too!

Claire suggested an itinerary for 9 days in Connemara and Galway as an add-on to a group trip I was taking to County Clare. My initial expectation was that she would recommend something more “traditional” (at least to me) like Dingle, Kerry, Cork, etc. instead she steered me to Connemara, and I am so glad I took her advice!

I just loved the natural beauty of Inishbofin, the Killary Fjord and Connemara National Park. The excursions and activities she put together for us - Kylemore Abbey, sheep and oyster farms, kayaking and a food tour in Galway - were both educational and enjoyable. And our accommodations were authentic and charming.

Claire really went above and beyond in accommodating a last minute additional person to the itinerary and even more last minute logistics issues with our rental car. I can’t thank her enough for her patience and diligence in working through those issues under difficult circumstances. She has even assisted us after our trip ended.

My wife and I recently returned from our trip to Spain and Portugal and we owe a big thank you to Helena Fernandez for a planning a fantastic trip right from the beginning to end. The places we saw were amazing- a blend of history to nature to culture all combining for a memorable expereince. Considering this was our first trip to Europe, we did know what to expect, but Helena took care of that by crafting an itinerary that balanced our curiosity and expectations. The boutique hotels were charming with very personable staff eager to go out of the way to make sure our stay was comfortable. Oh yeah, not to mention the tour guides who were very knowledgeable, respectful and full of humor to keep us going right thru the end of the day. So, if your travel plans call on Europe, I strogly recommend to go with Helena as your travel agent as she genuinely cares about people looking for a great expereince.

Pedro’ s attention to details and timely communications made for planning the itinerary and the day to day adventures in Portugal a joy! I loved the charm and friendliness of the Heritage Avenida Liberdade hotel in Lisbon and the elegant pampering at the Miragem in Cascais. Our walking tour guide in Lisbon, Margarita , was outstanding ! Our driver for the Sintra day and travels to Porto, Pepe, was absolutely the best. Ricardo, our driver to the Douro Valley and to Cascais was a close second. They both were incredibly knowledgeable about their country and so personable and fun! The highlights of the 12day trip for me were exploring the charming different villages and neighborhoods by wandering many miles in Lisbon and Porto, the Douro Valley’s incredible beauty and Obidos, Sintra and Cascais for their differences and charm. Exploring San Miguel in the Azores for a few days was also beautiful and the weather fantastic- next time there I might do private drivers as well . Pedro put together an amazing trip and I would highly recommend him- he deserves 5 + stars in my book. All the guides and drivers said they love working with him and I concur!

Hvar: Amfora. Great location. A bit too big for our taste. We prefer a smaller with great location and charm. Less crowds. More local flavor.
Dubrovnik: Hotel Leso (?). We were not pleased with the hotel in general.... VERY Crowded. People sleeping in lounge. Tour buses, staff not pleasant. far from Old Town. The actual room was nice. Overall rating for hotel 4/10.

The trip to the Côte d’Azur planned by Sebastian was wonderful. The hotels, excursions and guides were all exceptional and well beyond what I had expected. Highly recommend .

Jo in Zagreb was so much fun! Rachel in Korcula was an amazing guide, so fun and friendly! Grgo in Hvar took us to the countryside and to his house for a wine tasting...very special! Ivana in Plitvice was sweet and knowledgeable and went at a pace perfectly suited for us. Ivana in Dubrovnik was also amazing! And I must mention our drivers Duje and Pete! They made the rides enjoyable and memorable. A special thanks to Antonia for her attention to detail and checking in with us every day! A wonderful experience!

The trip to Nusa Penida Island was enjoyable. I would have liked to have had another day to hit all the spots, but we hit the ones we wanted. If you want to see some of the secondary spots, a second day might be nice.

The Vanilla Plantation Trekking at Dukuh Buahan Village was great! I think anyone could do the trekking. Just having a little stamina is enough, and it’s a nice experience for any fitness level.

This was our first trip to Europe and we were unsure about so many things. We took months to plan our itinerary and dumped our disorganized ideas into Audrey's lap. Unfazed, she helped us to plan out a near perfect vacation in France. And, when we had several transportation and housing issues, Audrey used her time and talent to help things run smoothly again. Because of her going the extra mile for us, we will continue to use kimkim as our travel agent, and if we return to France, we will ask for her again. She was wonderful!

Elena was a pleasure to work with. She listened to our requests and worked them into our itinerary seamlessly. She was on top of everything. Couldn't be happiery with this experience. Highly recommend KimKim.

Kateryna was a pro. All of her arrangements went perfectly. A big favorite was the Manor House in the Cotswolds. The tour guides in London and Edinburgh were A+. Every detail was carefully planned, and we had smooth transitions for 4 separate destinations. We will definitely use KimKim in the future. It provides the ability to travel without being a part of a big group tour, and pick the type of experiences we enjoy.

Overall, we had an amazing trip! Here are some highlights for Kim Kim…
Gummi was great to work with, Thor was absolutely fantastic and knowledgeable. The walking tour with Bonnie was a 10 out of 10 Bonnie is way underrated! The rental bus was perfect size and comfortable.

The Lava tunnel was just ok- cool but we found it a little boring and expected more of a challenge. The glacier ice cave was also very cool to see but also a little under whelming. The road in to the ice cave was a very long drive, once parked we expected to walk more once we arrived.
My advise would be to ask about your groups physicality level and understand how much walking/ hiking you group would like to achieve per stop. Iceland is stunning and so beautiful but requires significant drive time from thing to thing.. more than we expected (with not enough steps inbetween). We were cracking up that everything takes at least a hour to drive too. BUT because we spent less time on foot we were able to see some many beautiful spots so maybe I’m wrong, but we could have walked more.

Sky lagoon and blue lagoon were fantastic. Sky was our favorite. Fontana was just ok it was under construction during our visit. The wine bar tomato restaurant is something I’ll dream about!! The food and drinks were unreal and delicious. We were soooo happy to be in the wine bar area as a group not the actual greenhouse restaurant.

Lastly our weather was perfect. We were soooo happy & lucky. We made so many memories, thank you for keeping our group together as one unit! We all live in different locations & multiple cars would have been a huge challenge. All reservations went smoothly and we were grateful to have Thor translate for us. I will definitely use and recommend kimkim in the future for group travel! Well done

Glacier Ice Cave Experience as part of a Multi Day Private Tour

Poor advertised. Instagram photos may have created false expectations. Also, it was unclear that it was an hour ride in. In an hour ride out. The ice cave itself took us five minutes through and out of since it was so incredibly short. It’s incredibly cool and beautiful, but we expected more and wanted more once we got out of the van.
