Kimkim Trip Reviews

When you go on a trip to a faraway place it is great to be able to have someone working close to the locale to put together various tours, tickets, lodging, transportation options and a well thought out agenda that meets your needs. Even more important, especially when there are so many different vendors and moving pieces, is that when something goes wrong - and inevitably something *will* go wrong - there is someone who is quick, responsive, kind, caring and capable to manage things and smooth out those bumps. This was very much the case working with Vicky on our Australia trip. We were traveling with a diverse group of 4 people: myself, my wife, our 28yo son who is on the autistic spectrum and my 85yo mother who is 85yo! We were travelling to Oz for our niece's wedding and wanted to work up a tour of major attractions on the East Coast around that given that once you're there, you had best stick around and check out the wonders of the place. Vicky worked with us to build up a trip plan with sufficient activity for our son, sufficient rest days for my mother and sufficient highlights for us all to remember. She connected us with private and small group tours all with excellent guides and she set up comfortable accommodations throughout. She was also mindful of our budgetary limitations and worked with us once we arrived to tweak, adjust and troubleshoot as necessary. The bumps were few but when they happened, they were quickly resolved, and the entire trip has provided a lifetime of memories for us all. I found kimkim/vio through an internet search and Vicky through random assignment, but I do feel like I won the lottery on the whole experience.

We had a fantastic summer vacation to Aus - covering Sydney, Cairns and Melbourne.

Paula from Kim Kim was exceptional in helping our family chart out an iterenery and gave us suggestions and inputs to mix it up for the whole family as it was our first trip to Australia and we did not want to miss anything big in these cities.

Our hotels, local guides for all our daily trips were super nice and well experienced about the places and local details to make each day memorable for us. I would highly recomend Paula and Kim Kim for anyone to plan your next holiday and i am sure we will go back to them whenever we can.

We had a great time in Eucador (Quito, Amazon rainforest, Galapagos Islands) and the experience with KimKim was amazing. We had a guide all the time helping us with activities, travel and communication. I would highly recommend KimKim.
The only thing we did not like was the overnight bus journey to Cuyabeno which was very stressful.. We were expecting the bus to be little more comfortable (like a luxury sleeper bus). We did not have any sleep all through the night and the quality of the seats were bad.

The trip was actually planned by me as a surprise for my husband. he was not told of the destination he was going to and I wanted to wow him with the overall experience. Sharron and her team went above and beyond to ensure That experience was truly remarkable.
to top that up we were guided by our amazing guide…. ‎Sallam from Morocco immersions Was very caring as well as very knowledgable.

Morocco has a country in itself was very surprisingly diverse. Rich history, diverse landscapes, amazing and organic food, intriguing lifestyle, warm people….. Coupled with a well curated itinerary, and flawless execution by Kim Kim and their team.
I would highly recommend Morocco as a destination. I was so pleasantly surprised.

I would also recommend Kim Kim as the insured that the trip was catered to our liking.

We had a wonderful trip to Central and North Vietnam. Originally we planned on two days in Ho Chi Minh City but due to a traveling companion’s illness we missed the first two days of our trip. Kim Kim was very helpful in rearranging our itinerary so that we could fly into DaNang and start the trip from that point. Kim Kim even got us a few refunds on some of our missed activities.

Our two days in Hoi An were delightful. Our guide David Hau was fantastic. He went over and beyond in arranging for pick up of an item left on the plane. Can’t thank him enough.

Halong Bay was also a must see.

We worked with Thanos to plan our honeymoon to Greece and Italy. We had the best experience! He considered all our wants and needs in having a relaxed, but adventurous honeymoon. All the hotels were perfect and travel went smoothly. All drivers and pickups were on time. Our excursions were amazing. His itinerary was very clear and organized. I could not imagine having to do this without him after planning a wedding. Would absolutely recommend kimkim!

Matteo was great! It was just me and my husband for our trip and we were greeted at the dock and told which boat would be ours. We headed over to capri and Matteo pointed out all the things to see along the coast. The water was extra bumpy that day so he adjusted our trip to make it more enjoyable! He gave us the option of what we wanted to do, but we decided to take his advice as he is the expert and were very glad we did! we had plenty of time in capri and were able to see some of the grottos!

We loved this boating experience! There were about five groups of people and it was super comfortable! The staff was extremely friendly and made sure we had everything we needed throughout the day! They served us homemade lunch and had plenty of drink options from soda to wine and beer. They went above and beyond when they found out if was my birthday and made a little cake. The water was amazing and they provided snorkeling gear for everyone if you wanted!

Our guide was so informative and talked to us the whole drive pointing out different landmarks! She took us on two tours that were included with the trip and made lunch recommendations for us.

We traveled to Morocco for 8 days. The trip was mostly memorable, cultural, and we did spent a lot of time in the private car with our driver, Karim, who was very knowledgeable and well respected wherever we went. I recommend KimKim overall for the planning. We had two your guides - one in Fes, and one in Marrakesh. I think I would have liked to see more of the Modern Morrocco instead of the older medinas, but overall, it was great.

This was a special experience. The overall location was good in the sahara desert in the Sand Dunes. Getting there was hard a long 7.5 hour drive for one night. The tent itself was equipped with running water, toilet, two beds, and a fan and lights and outlets to charge your appliances. I did also have wifi.

We visited Iceland as a family for 4 nights and 5 days. Hanna helped create the trip for us and she put to gather a fantastic itinerary in the limited time that we were in Iceland. She was diligent in following up and reached out while we were on the trip. She kept us informed about the volcanic eruption in Grindavik that closed the Blue Lagoon. The detailed Google map directions day-by-day were extremely useful and made driving stress-free. The accommodation in Reykjavik was outstanding and in a great location. The accommodation in Kirkjubæjarklaustur was comfortable but in a rather remote location. Overall a great experience, thanks to Hanna and kimkim!

I'm not usually the “book through a tour” type but this was my first time traveling to the other side of the world and I didn’t want to leave things to my planning chances. It was a gamble and I am so glad I took it! From the initial planning phases everything was a breeze. Vicky mapped everything out according to our budget and preferences and tweaked everything we wanted to fully customize the trip to our desire. She was fully available during the trip providing updates on your changes and even making changes we requested during the trip.

Our tours were all exceptional and we experienced so much more by utilizing this service than I could’ve dreamed of planning myself! Each tour guide was unique and offered so much information and knowledge on the different days. We were the lone hikers in Sydney which was a nice break and allowed us to take in the scenes quietly. Queenstown was breathtaking and the LOTR tour was actually a way more fun experience than expected (and was a good mix of film stuff and non film stuff for those of us who aren’t die hards). Who knew I’d like NZ wines so much too? Cairns was a different vibe and completely different climate but it was nice to be tropical! And I’m so glad I worked with Vicky on the ordering of that piece of the tour for that reason!

I only wish I could’ve stayed another week to see even more. Wouldn’t change a thing. Thank you Vicky & the Kimkim team.

The Novotel Cairns Oasis Resort was fine but not my favorite. The hotel felt a bit rundown, possibly because we had just come from a really nice place in New Zealand. However, the bed was comfortable, the staff was great, and the breakfast was wonderful. The comparison with our previous hotel might have affected my impression, but overall, it was an okay stay.

Seastar Luxury Outer Great Barrier Reef Island and Reef Tour from Cairns

The reef excursion was incredible! We first took a boat ride for about an hour and a half to our snorkeling site. We had two hours to explore the first reef, followed by lunch, and then another two hours at a different location. The snorkeling was fantastic; we saw a variety of fish and coral, including clownfish, which reminded me of Finding Nemo. The instructors were helpful and pointed out interesting marine life. It was a memorable and breathtaking experience.

Lord of Rings Full-Day Tour around Queenstown Lakes by 4WD

The Lord of the Rings tour was a highlight, even though we aren't huge fans of the movies. The morning was just my husband and me with the driver, focusing more on sightseeing than just the film locations. It was great to see the beautiful scenery. In the afternoon, we joined others for some exciting off-roading, driving through rivers and off the beaten path. It was a fascinating experience and enjoyable even for those who aren't die-hard fans of the series.

What an amazing trip. Could never have done this without KimKim. Started planning on own and would have been awful.

Our guide in Bangkok was so amazing, my kids and I had a once in a lifetime time: Buddhas, china town, train market, water market, Monkeys, elephants, private Muay Thai class, phi phi islands, watched a Thai boxing match and so much more!!

Duncan was phenomenal from beginning to end. He listened to what I wanted, what our budget was and answered all my questions promptly. He was super supportive when I voiced concerns about the active volcanoes. Our itinerary was laid out beautifully and made our trip extremely seamless and enjoyable.

Our trip to Portugal was wonderful! We are very grateful to our local specialist, Pedro, who selected fabulous hotels, arranged great tours and guides, and provided very helpful tips throughout our planning process and while in country. His service was truly exceptional. He was very patient with us answering all of our questions and making special arrangements for the different members of our group. We highly recommend him to anyone thinking of planning a similar trip. Ours took us from Lisbon to Porto and the Douro Valley, to Evora, to Lagos in the Algarve and finally back to Lisbon. Along the way, we visited Sintra, Nazare (where our guide directed us to a fabulous small restaurant where they served fish that had just been caught that morning), and Coimbra. Some of the highlights were a river cruise in Douro followed by a fabulous lunch and visit to the Quinta da Pacheca winery and a boat trip that took us into the grottoes in Lagos. A big thank you to Pedro and everyone at Kim Kim. We all agreed that we will return to Kim Kim to help us plan our next travel adventure!

The airport pickups, rides to hotel, personal tour guides, and drive across the beautiful countryside was MAGNIFICENT to say the least. The team did an excellent job, easy to reach at any time during the day/night, and our guide Christian was PHENOMENAL, super kind, bilingual, and most of all knowledgeable When it comes to Ecuador and its history, places to visit, location and sights to see, he was on point and super helpful with advice. He even went out of his way to take us on personal walk throughs at some locations so we really got to experience the vibe and feel of the town and its people. This was truly impressive and heartwarming, we are happy that he is part of the team and highly recommend his services for any tour! Overall the experience was breathtaking. We got to see a side of Ecuador, its people, its food, its glory like never before. The overall drive is long but we made the best of it. The vehicle used was a perfect size for us and our bags. The highlights are too many to name, but our favorite stops on this tour include Quito MITAD DEL MUNDO, Banos with HIKING, ZIPLINING, and the FALLS, and Cuenca OVERALL as a city is amazing with so much to see. If we could do it over again we would focus on specific towns and make the most out of it (like BANOS and CUENCA truly deserve at least 2 days/nights on their own). Not sure if BANOS has its own tour, but this place is absolutely PHENOMENAL and offers SO MUCH to see and enjoy. If you are an adventurer type and love EXTREME SPORTS, this is the place for you. I would recommend 3 or more days to stay and enjoy all the fun stuff there, the choices are insane from ziplining to bungee jumping, ATVs and Pools, hiking, you think of it they have it! I am looking forward to going back and focusing here for a few days to get my fill.

Great trip to Portugal! This was our first experience with KimKim and Pedro was amazing! He helped us with the planning and helpful along the way with daily communication to be sure everything went smoothly. Thank you Pedro!

The trip was perfect ! Exceeded our expectations Perfect mix of driving time and activities. Mapped out perfectly on google maps. Gummi took care of all the details !

Martina was awesome and planned the trip well however the execution of the trip lacked the quality we expected from Kim Kim.

Language was a big issue in Peru. We had an hard time understanding the English speaking guides. Many drivers who came to pick us up didn’t speak a word of English which was also very challenging. The guide in Lima lacked energy and was not engaging. She took us to a restaurant that lacked hygiene and we ended up not eating. We took a bus from Lima to Nasca but guide told us journey was 4 hours rather than 7 and we got off on wrong stop. Thank god someone spoke English and asked us to get back on bus. I specifically requested a meal in Nasca but when we checked into the hotel the front desk had no clue about our meal and to top it all they didn’t speak English. So 11 pm in the night after 7 hours of bus we were out on street looking for food in a town where we didn’t understand the language.
Cusco excursions were amazing and our guide Will was stellar. Hotel in Cusco smelled like someone had defecated in the room but hotel staff was unable to identify the issue (entered room multiple times). Amazon trip was the most memorable for us but on our way back Lima airport was shutdown - nothing that tour guide can control however every time we called them they didn’t answer rather preferred to communicate via WhatsApp messages. That was strange... I wish they would pick up our calls given we were stuck in Cusco and language was a huge barrier for us. I do want to point out that texting via WhatsApp was prompt.

All in all I feel for the money we paid, guides could be better and definitely hotel should have been top notch - they weren’t. The airport issue took all the pleasure out of the vacation and the fact that tour guide was not willing to talk rather chat only added to frustration.

Every aspect of working with kimkim was superb!
Our accommodations were wonderful and all of our activities were so much fun. The hospitality and services provided by everyone involved with our trip was fantastic!

We enjoyed the attention of the chef and how he explained each dish. He lavished is with so many unique dishes! We had a dessert stop first in Plakka and I’d recommend doing that last!

Free Day in Milos

We rented a car/van. We had a free day in Naxos on this day to explore villages. We enjoyed Chalki.

It’s a pleasure for us to review our three week holiday to Vietnam through Kim Kim as we had an amazing trip and would honestly recommend this service to anyone. We flew into Saigon for a two days did a magnificent food tour with two young guides (sorry I’ve forgotten their names) on the back of motorbikes (lots of fun) and saw the Chi Chi tunnels and War museum which although confronting was also incredible to see and a must do if visiting Vietnam IMO. Loan (Ron) was our guide who then took us to The Mekong River. He was an amazing host and taught us a lot. We then went to Hoi An our favourite place on our holiday (beautiful) then Hue, Ninh Binh, Hanoi and Ha Long Bay.
We loved everything about this beautiful country and can’t speak highly enough of our tour organiser Huyen who was patient, generous and incredibly professional with her dealings with us. Thankyou very very much Huyen and Kim Kim. Much appreciated!
We hope to visit again soon.
