We just returned from Japan. Had a great time. Working with Malissa was good but it would often takes multiple days for her to get back to us. We wish she was able to have given us more information on the non organized days. For example she recommended going to the Imperial Palace but it is closed the day she indicated. The hotels she helped pick turned out great. The detailed travel worksheets were very helpful and the experiences were great.
We really enjoyed our guide Pedro. We were lucky to have him. He even helped us on days he was not with us. He was great about answering all of our questions.
We would use Kim Kim and Malissa again.

Karenina organized a great 10 day tour around SW Spain. Of all the places I enjoyed Granada the most. Probably because the guide Marta put in the extra effort for the Tapas tour and the trip to the White Villages in the mountains.

I found KimKim from a NY Times review that rated the company very highly. They were not wrong.
The Riyadh’s that we stayed in were lovely. Highlights were luxury camping in the Sahara, Ait Ben Habdou, Essaouira and a Hammam. Our guide, Hanna, in Marakech was amazing. We learned so much.
Do not hesitate to book your travel to Morocco with KimKim and Original Travels. You will have a wonderful time.

A 'must go back soon' experience! From the moment we sent the initial enquiry to KimKim, through to the final drop off at the departure airport, we knew we had made the right decision!
Theresa (and rest of team in Bali when she was on vacation) made us feel 'at home', relaxed and confident we would enjoy the trip.
Our driver/guide Padma was amazing; we got to know him very well. Polite, safe driver and respectful of our privacy if we just wanted to wander by ourselves
Highlights...many...but highly recommend the Morning Sunrise Trek (awesome guide from #ikakomangfrombali (on IG)); jungle trek to the eco-cafe, where you can grind and roast your own coffee beans in front of spectacular waterfall!; the Monkey Forest is a must...yes it may be a little touristy, but you have to go. Amazing creatures!; Bali cooking class was exceptional...we had private class (Vegan) and was superb host. Not just the cooking but history and culture of Balinese family and house (#ubadubudbali); and then the rice fields...so many to see and you get to walk around (short or long walk) one of the most spectacular in the country; temples! do not be surprised with how many temples there are...we spent quality time at probably 4 or 5 and each had a different history...make sure you have someone like Padma to make sense of it all!
Plenty of other things to see...even the beaches in Santur are nice; peaceful and great for kids/families...we didn't go to the other side to see the surfers!
So, all in all best experience we can remember AND the Balinese are just so sincerely friendly

I just got back from one of the best and most memorable trips I have been fortunate enough to experience! I was told Morocco needed to be done in depth, not just a couple of the big cities, and upon searching I found that a driver/guide and vehicle were essential. I contacted Under the Moroccon Sun using Kim Kim (amongst several other companies), and received a comprehensive response from Majid and Hassan very promptly. We worked together to create an itinerary, but after speaking to Hassan on the phone a few times I realized I should let him make suggestions, as he mentioned places and things I wasn't even aware of. The booking process was smooth, prices at par with what others were offering, but the customer service was exceptional!

We were picked up by our driver/guide Mohammad at the airport and we started off on our tour of Morocco.

This trip would not be half as good if it hadn't been for Mohammad. From the moment he picked us up till when we checked in for our flight back, Mohammad made sure every single aspect of our trip went smoothly, and that we were satisfied and happy on every step. Some excellent points below:

• Neat and clean car. Cleaned regularly, filled up regularly
• Eccellent driver! Followed road rules, made accommodations for weather and driving conditions
• stopped frequently and as needed for bathroom breaks/picture opportunities
• kept in touch with our accommodations to ensure a smooth arrival and exit process
• made excellent suggestions for lunch/dinner/coffee and made several accommodations for special needs
• figured out our quirks and acted accordingly
• helped us find bargains, took us to local and reasonable places
• educated us on Moroccon culture and history throughout the day, and pointed out places of interest we would have missed completely

Overall, this trip would not be possible without Hassan and Majid and their organizational skills. But it would be only half as good, if we had not lucked out with Mohammad.

Morocco is a BEAUTIFUL country. With so much diversity in topography and culture, one really needs to tour it in its entirety to fully comprehend and appreciate it.

We were lucky enough to do so, I feel like we didn't miss a single place of interest. And got to know the country and people thoroughly.
We started off with bigger cities, stayed in everything from a mountain casbah to a desert tent, ate everything from berber pizza to tagines...I couldn't have asked for more.

The Riads Hassan picked and booked for us were outstanding. Each location was different, each riad was unique, but every single one added to the trip experience.

Mohammad helped with luggage, check in, check out...basically facilitated us every step of the way.

I would HIGHLY recommend Under the Moroccon Sun, please tall to Hasan and Majid for planning purposes and please request Mohammad as your guide :)

I can go into great depth about the entire experience, but I feel like each experience is unique, and Hassan knows how to tailor these itineraries.

However I just want to say that a great guide and driver can make or break your trip, and Mohammad really was one of the best, most reliable, friendly, and responsible guides we had the good fortune of meeting.

I would like to thank Under the Moroccon Sun for creating for us a memorable, comfortable and exceptional trip, and thank Mohammad for the exceptional care he took of us every step of the way.

I would book again with them in a heartbeat!

Everything was fabulous. 10 days in mexico. Isabelle did the pre trip planning and it was such a simple process to end up with a perfect trip for us.
Interesting options with local guides you could not organize yourself.
Lizbeth for our support while traveling was amazing. I did not realize this was also included.. such a high level of support helped when a snorkeling trip was cancelled due to weather . Refund was processed straight away with no drama.
And one evening a city walking guide didn't arrive.. Lizbeth sorted it out and booked us in for an even better experience the next evening.

I will be traveling with KimKim again. Cannot recommend more highly.

Working with Terry to plan this trip was simply above expectations, she cattered to all our needs even when we were demanding. We'll re-use this formula on the next trip.

Overall all, the experience with KimKim in planning our Costa Rican adventure was excellent! Jean Carlo was fairly attentive to our needs/requests and provided an itinerary that was close to that which we hoping for. I had hoped to stay in Tamarindo, but Samara was substituted because of availability, supposedly. We had requested a catamaran adventure. This was the most important element of our tour. What we ended up with was a tour boat, that motored out about an hour, stopped while we watched for dolphins and elusive whales, the motored back to a snorkeling reef, then back to shore. While this excursion was good, it was not the sailing adventure we we’re desperately hoping for.
The hotels we were booked into we fine. The staff in Fortuna and Monteverde were excellent. The staff at Samara was horrible! The two men that worked the desk were terribly unfriendly and appeared to hate there jobs. The only saving grace was the waitress/maid. She was very friendly and always smiling and singing.
The transportation was excellent! The drivers were very good, especially William who drove us from Samara to Liberia. All of the drivers were very safe and focused drivers, which was necessary due to the bad road conditions.
Marco, our guide for the hanging bridges and waterfalls in Fortuna was fantastic! His experience and keen eye made for great wildlife viewing. I so appreciated that he would use our phones to capture close-ups of the fauna! He is truly an asset and would highly recommend he and his company to other visitors.
The crew on the boat in Samara we very good, as well.
Another disappointment in the planning of our trip. One of the reasons I had requested being in Tamarindo, was it’s proximity to the Liberia airport. We had an afternoon departure and wanted to spend some time in the town of Liberia. Since we were booked into Samara the road trip took up more time. I had asked Jean Carlo if we could be dropped in town and then catch a taxi to the airport, on our own. He insisted that it was very far away. I know it’s only 7 miles, but considering how long it took to drive through other parts of the country I accepted that. I understood. However, as William was driving to the airport, he confirmed that the city was only 7 miles, a ten minute drive away. Instead, we were dropped and stuck at the airport for four hours. Security and check in only took 30 minutes. Had other arrangements been allowed, we would have had plenty of time to spend in Liberia.
Again, I will say that for the most part our experience with Jean Carlo and KimKim was excellent and I would certainly recommend your company to my friends.

Isabel planned the perfect trip for the 4 of us (2 couples 50 -62)! We spent 3 nights in Quito at a remarkable hotel in Old Town, which included a city tour, visit to the Equator, a cooking class, and a free day (on our own). Lucia was our guide and went above and beyond to make us happy! We even stopped at her home to pick up bug repellent bracelets for our trip to the Amazon. Her English was very good and her pride for her Country was impressive. The cooking class with Josue and Jonathan exceeded our expectations! Our driver for the day, Manuel, became our driver/guide for the hiking days in the Andes, and transport to/from Quito Airport, which was a huge benefit as we developed a rapport and special relationship with him. Manuel was patient, professional, and accommodating. He is an experienced and accomplished hiker, guiding us on high elevation hikes in the Andes covering dormant and active volcanos, an 8.2 miles section of the Quilotoa, Pasochoa, and the trek to Jose Rivas Refugio at 16K"! The mountain lodges/hotels Isabel booked for us were each very different and uniquely special.
Our stay at the La Selva Lodge in the Amazon was more laid back and a nice change from the city in Quito and the high-country, moderate/strenuous hiking in the Andes. We saw numerous jungle animals and birds, fished for (and caught) piranha, climbed a very tall structure (205 stair steps) towering above the jungle to observe birds, and visited a native/indigenous tribe to learn about their culture and lifestyle.
Finally, we spent our last afternoon/evening (and the next morning) at the Terme de Papallacta Thermal Springs which also had spa treatments available and a gorgeous hike.
Overall, we were thrilled with Isabel's attention to detail and adventurous itinerary and Manuel's thorough, caring attention. I would absolutely recommend both and would book a future trip with Kimkim again.

We had an amazing time in Bali. Marc helped me plan a custom trip at exactly the pace and level of investment we were looking for. The hotels he suggested were just perfection. Tejaprana in Ubud was absolutely phenomenal. I wish we could have stayed another week in that hotel alone- exactly what you picture when you think Bali and the food and staff were just beyond. Taman Sari in Pemuteran and our snorkel trip with Nyoman on West Bali Extreme were wonderful. We saw on a ton of unique things thanks to his keen eye. Marc’s suggestion of Setia for dinner was a win, best food we had on the island. And finally staying at Wapa De Ume in Sidemen left us feeling we were in a dream. Everyday our amazing driver Edi got us safely and quickly to our destinations with a smile and some insight on local culture. He got us to each ticket booth and stop we wanted to make sure we were in the right place. We spent a lot of time in his Van and it was always comfy, clean and cool with water and umbrellas if we needed. Thank you for giving us this taste of Indonesia, we know who to call when we are ready to come back!

This is the first big trip that my wife and I have done in quite a while. Traveling to a new country was new for us and a little bit in our stretch zone. We heard about KimKim so my wife contacted them and they connected us with Sergio and the Serendipity Tours team. Sergio worked dynamically with my wife, discussing our goals for the trip which was to start on the Pacific Coast and to work our way across Costa Rica and end our trip on the Caribbean. The two of them spend weeks going back and forth until we were felt good about all of the many recommendation that Sergio made. Serendipity is an excellent name for the travel company because that is what we felt like at each turn of the bend as we made our way across Costa Rica experiencing the country and the amazing accommodations and destinations that Sergio arranged for us.

As we made our way across the country I kept saying to myself and to my wife, I have no idea how we would have done this without Sergio. It was an amazing experience. The planning of the trip was outstanding but the engagement of Sergio's team partner and the trip coordinator Charlotte was absolutely amazing. Working with Charlotte was like having a on demand administrative assistant with us through out the trip. Any consternations that we might have had traveling in a foreign land were assuaged constantly by the incredible accessibility that we had with Charlotte thought-out the 3 weeks.
At times we truly felt like we had to pinch ourselves to make sure what we were experiencing was real. We are so appreciative of her support throughout the trip.

Regarding Costa Rica - the people are amazing, the country is drop dead gorgeous and the wild life is incredible. Pura Vida.

When we were starting to look into a 20 day trip to Costa Rica, a friend recommended we check out kimkim. That was the beginning of our amazing coast to coast adventure in Costa Rica! Kimkim connected me to Sergio, one of the local specialists with Serendipity Tours. Sergio spent a lot of time getting to know us...what we like to do and what we're looking for, our age & level of fitness and adventure, the length of stay, etc. Without his expertise and knowledge, we wouldn't have been able to come up with and coordinate the many places and excursions along the way. It took a few weeks of going back and forth to refine the itinerary as best we could. We were in constant communication. Working with Sergio eliminated much of the stress associated with exploring another country. He suggested places to visit, selected the hotels, arranged the excursions including transportation, booked the rental car, and offered many restaurant recommendations throughout our stay.

After we booked the trip, Sergio sent us preparation & packing tips, which were incredibly helpful. Even though plans were in place, we could still modify & adjust if necessary.

From the time we arrived at the airport, we felt as if we had a personal guide just a whatsapp call or text away! Once we arrived in Costa Rica, we could contact Charlotte with Serendipity pretty much 24/7 if necessary. She was our logisitics coordinator and was always available in a pinch; for instance, if we had to reschedule or cancel an excursion, if our pickup was late, she would call on our behalf, if we were running late, she would contact the transport company. We could reach out with questions about tipping our drivers and guides, and any other issues that might arise.

Because of the many places we were going, Sergio recommended that we rent a car and drive everywhere. That was definitely part of the adventure and we enjoyed the breathtaking views along every bend of the road (and there are many bends and switchbacks!). The trip exceeded our expectations and we are grateful for the team of Sergio, Nancy and Charlotte who attended to us for these many months!

We had a great stay at this beachfront resort. It was very close to Puerto Viejo & other beaches, yet in a private & secluded location. The hotel was beautifully designed and thoughtfully integrated into the lush foliage & landscaping of the grounds.

This is a small hotel (real feel is a b & b). We loved the intimacy and feel of being in the home/hacienda of a local family. And we felt warmly welcomed by the staff. The hacienda sits above the small town of Aquiares and the views are spectacular! A delicious breakfast was included daily, but we were pleasantly surprised by the 5 star dinners that were optional, but available daily! We decided to take advantage of the chef's amazing cuisine!

We loved the local flavor and experience. This is the hacienda of the families that own the coffee farm. It's furnishings, artwork, accessories have pesonality. The views and gardens are magnificent; we dined outdoors when we could.

Beautiful hotel and location right on the gulf. When you're there, you feel as if you've been transported to the Mediterranean coast! The restaurant was excellent; breakfast was included daily and we had a few dinners there as well.

Authenticity & Character

Las Catalinas is very different than other areas. It's totally self-contained and the architecture has a whole different feel. It's built into the mountains and very beautiful; it doesn't have a local feel if that's what you're looking for.

Beachfront location. Walkable to restaurants in addition to the hotel's. Beautiful hiking trails along the coast.

TreeTram & Hanging Bridges Adventure

Handging bridges hike was fabulous; the guide was exceptional and very knowledgeable. He pointed out things we would have never noticed on our own. We learned about the cloud forest and were introduced to the flora and fauna. We even saw a quetzal! It was raining and cloudy, so the tram ride was disappointing because we couldn't see much along the way. We stopped at the top and had delicious hot chocolate.

Exploring the Underwater Wonders of Cahuita National Park

Unfortunately, we weren't able to snorkel due to the currents & rip tides in the Caribbean. So, the excursion was modified and we took a boat out to the furthest most part of the park so we could hike back through the jungle along the beach. It was an easy & enjoyable hike and our guide kept us engaged as we spotted white faced and howler monkeys and sloths, along with other wildlife. There were some beautiful beaches along the way where the water was calm and inviting.

Sunset Catamaran Sailing Tour

Catamaran was beautiful, clean & well maintained. We were expecting to sail on this excursion (it is titled 'Sunset Sailing Tour'), but unfortunately, the sails could not be raised due to mechanical issues, so we had to motor the whole way. We didn't find this out until we were on the boat. The other disappointing issue was that it turned out to be a 'party boat' because of crowd and the unlimited drinks/alcohol that were being served. The sunset part of the excursion was lovely, but I would prefer a less roudy group if doing an excursion like this again.

Camilo, our guide did a great job. The lunches got old after a few days but the food was good besides. The Frances camp tents were one person tents for two people - not great. All other accommodations were great and we enjoyed being with all of the other hikers. It was a trip of a lifetime!

Our KimKim contact person, Emilce, prepared a wonderful two week trip for the four of us. We experienced Buenos Aires, Montevideo and Mendoza during two weeks and met three excellent guides: Antonella in Buenos Aires, Mathias in Montevideo and Claudia in Mendoza. We highly! recommend KimKim

We were met by your excellent guide Claudia who took us around and gave a most interesting lecture about wine making in Mendoza. The wine tasting tour brought us to different producers, one small and one big. At the small producer , Carinae, we were met by a very engaged winemaker who presented all details. We had a long chat there and really feel t welcomed by the staff. The big producer, Trapiche, was also a very nice experience, but due to lack of time we had to leave a little early.Fianlly we had a delicious lunch! What a day!

Isabel, our local specialist, rocked it! She checked in on us and was always there with any guidance if needed. She provided us with Manuel, who guided us during this trip. He amazed us with his knowledge of the places he took us, both on the road and while hiking areas that were very remote. He was always on time picking us up, always kind and courteous and worked very hard to make our time in Ecuador special. It was like we had a good friend in Ecuador showing us around! We asked for 3 days in Quito, 5 days of hiking the mountains and volcanos and 4 days in the Amazon and could not have written a better script. Anyone wanting to visit this beautiful country should use Kimkim...we will use them for our next trip back. My wife is already talking about a girls trip in the future! Thank you for some amazing memories!!!!
