As for the breakfast at Casa Sol, they serve American-style breakfast, which consists in coffee, tea, fresh fruit juice, fresh fruit salad, bread, homemade jam, butter and eggs of choice. Maybe you are referring to the quantity? It is always a good idea to address this kind of issues directly with the hotel staff to find an immediate solution. In case you decide to return to explore the rest of Ecuador with us, you are invited to a typical local-style breakfast.

Our favorite places were Chefchaouen, Chellah Necropolis (especially the storks), our two Riads in Fes (Le Calife) and Marrakech (Kaiss), Volubilis and Lixus. The Ouzud waterfalls and the Barbary Macaques there were also memorable.

Hello Ben,

Thank you very much for your feedback which is deeply appreciated and helps me and my future travelers to read and learn from your own travel experience. I am very happy to hear you have enjoyed your trip and my local providers' services. I have sent you a check-in email in our conversation during your travel to follow up on your trip and if there is anything I can do for you but did not hear back from you which may be due to the network or you were not checking your emails.

Just after receiving your feedback, I noted your satisfaction remark and immediately called my local driver Rachid to review all the trip and what was wrong, I understood from him that you have decided last minute to skip the bird-watching activity on your way to Asilah, and it was your own decision as far as everything was arranged and ready for you. Rachid proposed to enjoy another road and make some stops for you which I believe went very well as you mentioned above. Also, I have been informed that you have decided to skip the local restaurant in Chefchaouen you selected on your own due to its location. Also, the restaurant in Rabat you selected was far more than you expected and you were not happy. Now, I understand the reason why you were not very satisfied; I wished I could help with these arrangements as well, but you have decided to book them on your own and I respect that. Normally my drivers know a lot and it would have been better to check with them for any local restaurants or services you wish to enjoy then you can decide to take their recommendation or keep your own selection.

I 'll always be here for you the soon new plans for Morocco are ready.

All the best,
Brahim

Ms Nook in Chiang Mai was equally great. All experiences were great. The elephant tour day could have used some preparation. We had no idea the transportation was so long and in the back of a truck. Our son got motion sick and vomited in the back of the truck on the way there which was a bit of a struggle and rough start to the day. With some warning the night before we could have prepared and given him something for motion sickness. Also it would be nice to have clear direction to bring bathing suits for the swimming part. Overall the elephant tour was very memorable and a highlight of our trip.

Both dinner shows were great too.

Dear Brook,

First of all, it is so great to hear from you and know that you are all well after a long trip to Thailand.
Thank you much as well for sharing to me such a huge value feedback about the tour especially the itinerary of the city tour to floating market, Grand palace and Chinese street food tour as well as the preparation tips for the Elephant tour.
First, for the city tour, this is the normal city tour we often offer to clients and it is much more focusing on the local touch and daily life experience and got good comments from our clients so far.
As your family have had a free day for resting so I also think that the pace of the tour will be normal for your big kids. I will learn from that for the next family offer. Thank you for noticing me.

Regarding to the elephant tour, I will also learn from that and note the necessary tips for the upcoming tour to our clients and family tour.

For all the pictures, they are all great and I hope that your kids have learnt many things on the way for their living experiences. Is it possible if I ask for your permission to use some of them as our real client study case and experience on tour? if yes, we will really appreciate your support.

Thank you much again in trusting in our service and I look forward to have a chance to welcome to you Asia for the upcoming trips.
I wish your family with good health and happiness always.

My local guides were very knowledgeable, although sometimes my questions where unanswered mostly due to a language barrier.

On a scale from 1 to 5 I would rate them all at a 4. Out of all my guides I was particularly fond of my guide in Mandalay, as he was the easiest to communicate with.

I would recommend Su and all of my guides to anyone visiting Myanmar.

The entire experience was awesome! Lena took care of the Jordan side, and Daniela handled Israel. Both did an amazing job of building a schedule that allowed us to see the key sites that each country had to offer - some of which we wouldn't have seen without their insight. We put our trust in Lena and Daniela and they definitely delivered! Having found Kimkim via a Google search, I was a little skeptical at first that it would work out, but there was far more understanding of our needs than the local travel agent we spoke with in the US who had no experience of the region.

In Jordan we saw Mount Nebo, Madaba, Karak, Wadi Rum, Aqaba, Petra (including dinner with a local family, which was an inspiringly positive experience), and the Dead Sea. Petra and Wadi Rum were outstanding, and while we had 1 day in Petra it really takes 3 to see everything. Our driver, Mohammad, was excellent, and provided neat insights as we drove around. Finishing at the Dead Sea Spa and Hotel was a perfect way to end the Jordan tour. The only lowlight was making our way through the border crossing north of the Dead Sea from Jordan to Israel. We were unaware that there would be an exit tax (10JD per person), plus fees to take ourselves and our luggage on a bus to get to the other side. This experience was frustrating (everyone else making the crossing was just as bewildered), particularly as we'd used our remaining JD to tip our driver. But overall, Jordan was fabulous!

Israel was also fabulous - rich in history and culture, and perhaps more familiar or comfortable to western hemisphere visitors. We spent 3 nights in Jerusalem and 3 in Tel Aviv. Rather than having a personal driver as we did in Jordan, this time we were shuttled to join small group (20 people) tours, which included Jericho, Bethlehem, Old Jerusalem, Nazareth, Galilee, Rosh Hanikra, Caesarea, Acre and Haifa, with some down time in Tel Aviv on our last full day. It was amazing to see so many different things, as well as being right on the Mediterranean.

We would revisit both countries in a heartbeat, and wouldn't think about using anyone other than Kimkim to do so!

One thing we appreciated immediately was that our drivers were always punctual and pleasant, and their vehicles were in great shape. We started off in Bogota and had a wonderful bike tour led by Daniel Felipe. We were particularly interested in street art, and it turns out he is a street artist himself, so it was a perfect match. The next day we had an equally great tour to Monserrate led by Sharon. We then flew to Salento (in the coffee-growing region), which was the highlight of our trip. We stayed at Reserva el Cairo, which we can't recommend highly enough. We spent 2 full days there. On the first, we did a mountain bike tour of the wax palms through Salento Cycling (not through Kimkim), which was absolutely fabulous. The next day we had our best tour ever (provided by Kimkim), which was a tour of several local towns with our guide David. We learned to grow and prepare coffee, saw incredible beauty, and hung out in some really gorgeous (non-touristy) little towns. Loved it! The last part of our trip was in Cartagena. This was not our favorite, due to the heat, multitude of tourists, and extremely obvious income inequality. However, we recognize that many people really enjoy the hot coastal environment and that our going there and not loving it was predictable. We did, however, learn a lot about the history of the place, and really enjoyed our tour with Nestor despite our cutting it a bit short due to our discomfort in the heat. It was a relief for us to get back to Bogota, where we all agreed we could spend a lot more time. Overall, we loved Colombia and feel like we want to come back, spending more time in Bogota, the coffee region, and other areas that we haven't visited yet. I also was very pleased with KimKim's services, which were exactly what we needed and perfectly executed.

Rafting with Wave Company in La Fortuna was a great. The Baldi Hotel/Springs was nice but they had constructions going on the entire time we were there which was loud.

Ziplining (forget the company) in Fortuna was aweseome, small outfitter with great guides.

The Hanging Bridges at Mystic was great but could do without the walk down to the waterfall as the crowds were a real turn off.

Biking with Arenal Bike Company was nice.

Monteverde Lodge and Garden was really nice, very quiet and the grounds were impressive and the proximity to town was ideal for walking to restaurants.

We opted for another zipline which we booked through the hotel, Sky Adventure would have been fine but nobody mentioned how cold it would at that high location.

The horseback riding was one of our favorite tours, we had a private guide which made a huge difference.

Si Como No was a huge hit with my daughter. The only tour we had was to the Manual Antonio Park was fine but could didn't care for the crowds.

Randall did a great job but would have appreciated a bit more information on what to expect on each tour and how long each tour would last. Aside from that, he did a great job.

The overall price was way too high for what I received. The accommodations were as basic as I've ever seen in Latin America. I can't understand where $2700 USD went when planning this trip. My goal was to find hard evidence of climate change in the region. There wasn't any hard evidence. I know climate change is hard to capture in a photograph, but I was led to believe that signs of climate change were everywhere. And the people of Apolobamba would be able to speak of it in specific and direct terms. That wasn't the case. Lastly, the accommodations at the last night with Alfonso were extremely rough. I cannot pinpoint where I would have contracted the two infections I'm dealing with now but perhaps they were here. I am currently in and out of the hospital with Typhoid Fever and Shigella. I appreciate Stephen and Milenka's work but this trip didn't warrant such an expensive bill. Thank you. Michael

Dear Michael, thank you for your feedback. I am disappointed that part of your experiences in Bolivia were not as you had hoped for/expected. I would like to respond to some of your comments here and if you would like to speak by phone please do not hesitate to give me a call via Skype, my handle is s_taranto.

Regarding the cost of your program, in our September 17th message we explained that “a bit more than 50% of the cost” was from the private transport and in your September 18th response your preference for private transport, despite the higher cost and our proposal to use public transport on one of the legs of the journey. You confirmed then that you were opting for private transport and would be tracking down the necessary funds because it would "let you take photos if something comes up.”

As you now know, Apolobamba is quite remote and some sections of the roads there are in terrible condition. Furthermore, your driver made two trips to the region, one to take you there and one to pick you up, in itself explaining much of the cost of your travel to and from the protected area. You also had a number of private services in La Paz as well as much farther away on the outskirts of El Alto that added to the high overall transport costs of your program.

Regarding the assertion that we led you to believe that there would be clear signs of climate change impacts on local communities, I recall you explaining to me when we spoke that this was an initial, exploratory mission and that if you found some of the potential stories and images of interest you’d be back for longer. I encourage you to return and spend more time in Apolobamba because I am certain that doing so will bring forward the impacts that are being felt in the region. There may not be wildfires and mega-storms but there are most certainly slower, less visible impacts such as soil depletion and loss and associated crop failures, disruption of cultural and agricultural calendars due to changing rainfall patterns, the rise of diseases historically found at lower altitudes and many others. If the specific families and other actors you met with during your short time there were not able to provide the stories and images you were after, more time in the area will allow you to find the ones that can, if they are willing to do so. I can also provide you with several peer-reviewed articles from the region that attest to the growing impacts of climate change in the Central Andes.

Finally, we are, of course, sorry to learn that you may have contracted a sickness while in Bolivia. While it is possible to become sick from food and other vectors anywhere in the world, in Bolivia there are often higher risks in restaurants and homes that are not accustomed to cooking for international visitors. Due to your repeated requests for non-touristic services and as we do not work on a regular basis with some of the families you met and stayed with, it was impossible for us to guarantee their hygiene. By the same token and due to your international travel experience in our region, including Chile before your arrival in Bolivia, we were confident that you would be taking at least partial responsibility on this front. If you need some tips on how to do so in the future, we'd be happy to share some of our experiences and you can also review the health and safety guidance on our website.

Once again, we are disappointed that not everything turned out as you hoped and would be happy to discuss your experiences further by Skype.

Wow, Caroline these photos are incredible!!

It looks like you also had really great weather, how wonderful.

I will certainly pass along your positive feedback to our team and to your guides. I'm so glad that this worked out so well and thank you for giving me the opportunity to design such a unique itinerary. It was a pleasure to meet and chat with the both of you and cheers to adventure!

I had done some web research on trips in SE Asia, and was hesitant to use a travel booking service like kimkim; however, I quickly leaned on kimkim to find the right trip for me. I was looking for a trip that would provide a challenge, but not an overwhelming one, and that would expose me to places and people I wouldn't meet otherwise. Through guided questions and back and forth questions, kimkim nailed it. I also appreciate the assistance with some last minute Visa issues.

We had a great time everything was very well organised and we didn’t have to think about anything. A special thanks to Naresh and Pemba for making our trek to Pikey Peak so easy and fun! It was a great trip and the Himalayas are truly beautiful and amazing. Highly recommend it to everyone!

Hey Anna, many thanks for your view! Great to hear that you had a good time on trek, but especially that you enjoyed your time with the crew, Naresh and Pemba. We think they're pretty great, time and time again our guests prove the old saying true that they 'come to Nepal for the mountains but stay for the people'.

All the best,
Amanda

Most amazing trip! So many memories made that we will have forever. This touring company Kim Kim was amazing to work with. They tailored our trip so we could see and do all we wanted to see and do. Kind hearted people with much integrity. The guide we had in Marakesh--- Kahil was so knowledgable and helpful. Very kind man and full of so much knowledge and history. Rachid --our guide on our five day adventure into the Atlas Mountains and southern Morocco -- he was like family to us on. We had such fun and extraordinary experiences. Rachid is also an excellent photographer (a good eye) and he took and shared many photos he had taken of us during our time together. We learned much about the Berber people. He took us to several Cooperatives so we could see first hand the work of the Moroccan people - in their small villages. We toured the Argon Oil Cooperate, Berber Carpet Cooperative, the Rose Water Cooperative, the Fossil Cooperative, the Tannery and Leather Cooperative, the Spice and Saffron Cooperative. ... and so on. We learned so much about the Medinas in the villages, and the Kasbahs. We learned of the history of the Berber people. Then of course our night in the Sahara Africa with the Camal Caravan oh my! We love dour night in the Sahara with the great food and singing and drumming by the fire under the stars. The entire trip had such amazing food. Came back with all sorts of Moroccan spices, so our home now smells of Morocco. We have used our Tagines every day since being back.

I can't say enough good things about our experience in Morocco. We love the Moroccan people. We love the smells, the colors, the Call to Prayer. We loved all of it.

We are so looking forward to coming back to Morocco. We will definitely work with the same tour company. Perhaps next year!

En Shallah.
