Kimkim Trip Reviews

Adrian was a delight to work with, and he nailed our goals for this friends trip. Neither of us had been to Ireland before and were overwhelmed with the many options to choose from. Do we take trains or rent a car? Hotels or B&Bs? Cliffs of Moher or one of the other many cliffs? This castle or the ruins of that monastery? Etcetera. He navigated our needs for authentic experiences without the overly touristy spots filled with buses and selfie sticks. While we love the history of a country/city/place, we didn't need constant tour guides or tour groups, and he nailed that goal to create a unique experience without feeling overly lonely or overly crowded throughout the trip. We spent 9 days, traveling the entire country, including a day and a half in Belfast and to the Giant's Causeway. The experiences he set up for us were an absolute delight, and his recommendations and timeline throughout the journey were great. Of course, we wish we had 3-5 more days to explore a little further, but we have no regrets in terms of what we were able to fit in. One of our excursions was a boat trip to Skellig Michael, which was canceled due to weather. We reached out as soon as we learned about it, and requested some other options. What are the good, better or best options that we could replace it with. He gave us some great suggestions that we never would have come up with on our own looking online, and we had a great time doing the alternative (e-bikes through the Gap of Dunloe - stunning views!!).

Hey, so I've got some feedback on our recent trip, pointing out the good and the bad stuff.

First off, here's what was positive:
1)the apple Strudel class in Salzburg.
2)the Munich food tour.
3)the two-day guided tours in Heidelberg.
4)the private boat trip and wine tasting excursion in Strasbourg.

But, here's what was not acceptable:
1) The first-class train seats from Salzburg to Munich were a mess. One was in the handicap area, and the other had no legroom, which sucked.
2) The private boat tour in Strasbourg was fun, but the captain asking for €250 at the end was a bit of a shock and pretty awkward.

3) Also, the meeting spot for that boat trip in Strasbourg was a pain to find. We probably wouldn't have found it without the Uber driver's help.

4) On August 6, I expressed my concern regarding the train schedule from Munich to Salzburg on our arrival date, August 26th.....

"I am inquiring about potential disruptions to our planned itinerary, specifically regarding train travel within Germany. Recent communications have alerted me to possible delays and related complications. Considering the information available at the following link (https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/2025/08/05/germany-trains-delays-broken-railroad/), I would appreciate your assessment of the potential impact on our travel arrangements."

Unfortunately, this matter was not addressed.

Finally, in comparison to our previous experience with KimKim in Argentina and Peru, which proved highly successful and cost-effective, this particular trip did not yield comparable results.

We had a wonderful time in Greece. Everything flowed extremely smoothly, which was top-notch. All of our excursions were fun and interesting.
Our private Acropolis tour with Penelope was a great first impression of a tour guide in Athens. Not only was she educated and an experienced archaeologist and classics lover if mythology, , she was polite and extremely fun to be around. Loved her!! She was patient snd kind as well. It was a little awkward to eat and drink in front of her but we got over it.

I enjoyed the trip to Delphi with Janis-he was a great driver and very friendly. Our tour guide in Delphi was also knowledgeable but very sarcastic and I felt rushed. The restaurant Janis took us to in Delphi was beautiful and delicious.

I would suggest for the excursion of Traditional cooking at Village Farm, you let visitors know that this is a basic cooking class that is strictly vegetarian. It was mostly chopping a few vegetables and stuffing them into another vegetable. This was not what I expected and the young 22-year-old man named Kostas even complimented us on being able to chop vegetables quickly. We all can cook. We were under the assumption that it would be a little more traditional meal and it was disappointing. Even the dessert was rudimentary- graham crackers and melted chocolate . Not worth it. If there was not a farm tour with cheese afterwards, I would probably give this two stars. Least favorite of trip.
Santorini was wonderful and our hotel was fabulous except for the 69 stairs down to it thank God for our porter Louis who took our bags down to the hotel. On the day that we were leaving to come home, pick up was at 6 AM when no Porter is there. Thank God I asked the porter how we would get our bags back up to the top. We had to make arrangements for the Porter to come in before his work time and pay for him to take our luggage up 69 stairs. I would suggest letting people know that this is a real dealbreaker if I was to come back to this hotel. There would be no way for us to bring our luggage up to catch our taxi to the airport if we did not think about this prior and make arrangements.
George - Private island village and Akrotiri day trip - was a great guide that took us high into the city. He even let us stop and purchase some pottery as we made our way down from the castle. I would suggest that you let people know that this is a very extraneous activity, which includes lots of up and down with stairs. Thank God we were all in shape and could make it, but there is no way anyone with mobility issues would be able to do these excursions in Santorini.
Last excursion was Sunset Caldera cruise. What a great experience that we had on this private excursion. We felt a little like royalty that we had the whole boat to ourselves. The meal was fantastic, and the two young men were lovely. I can’t remember their names, so hopefully Bev or Wendy can. We really enjoyed this as our last sendoff.
Overall, this was a great memorable trip with special friends. Thank you for all your planning and help and hopefully this review will shed some light for other future travelers and what the offerings are in Greece.

This hotel was a great location, but too many stairs to get down to your room with luggage. I believe it was 69 steps and there was no one to take our luggage back up in the morning. We did have to pay the porter to come in early at 6 AM so we could make our flight back to Athens. The staff was fantastic.

We love the rooms and that the bed was up a few stairs. Shared balcony was great to have a glass of wine and watch the sunset. Incredible.

I don’t think anything could be approved about the location when the cruise ships come in and park right in front of the hotel down at the water edge. The cruise ships ruined this locations view.

Louis the porter was an amazing help getting our luggage down to our hotel room and also back up. This was no small feet when our luggage weigh 50 pounds each.

What a great hotel that has a pool and a wonderful buffet ( at the hotel next-door ) to start your day off. The beach was only about 100 yards away and we were able to go down there and experience swimming in the sea. Pool closed a little early-8pm, but you were able to go to the pool at the hotel next-door.

Great location in downtown Athens. Felt very safe. The elevator to get up to our room on the sixth floor was about as big as a closet. Only three people could fit in there or one person with luggage. Extremely claustrophobic, which caused me to take the stairs up six flights instead of getting into that tiny tiny elevator. The buffet was amazing as an introduction to Greek breakfast cuisine. I was even able to make Greek coffee over hot sand, which was very traditional and memorable. View of the Acropolis in Parthenon was total bonus. I’m giving it 3 stars because of the elevator.

I would have to say that this is a rudimentary class on how to chop vegetables. We thought we were going to be making a more complicated traditional meal. Everything was very, very basic and a little disappointing. We finished making the stuffed green pepper vegetarian meal in about 10 minutes. They do not use meat therefore everything you make is vegetarian according to our guide.

The farm tour was the highlight. We were there for hours and if we didn’t have this, it wouldn’t be at all enjoyable.

Our staff person that showed us how to chop vegetables was not a super experienced cook , but a young 22-year-old man. We showed him how to cut vegetables quickly and he even commented that he never had people cut vegetables as quickly as we did I felt that the expectation was we were going to get an experienced grandmotherly type of person to teach us a well loved recipe.

Our recent trip to Portugal was amazing. We visited 3 locations that were all different but equally incredible. Each and every one of our guides was knowledgeable and friendly. Coraima did an incredible job of mixing up the excursions to be both interesting, relaxing and exciting. All our transfer drivers were on time and professional. I'm not sure how KimKim vets all these people but they have yet to disappoint. The hotels were beautiful and very clean. Hotel Farol in Cascais was exceptionally beautiful sitting on the edge of the Atlantic. Stunning! And when we did have a question, reaching out to KimKim via the chat was so easy and the response so quick. It is very reassuring knowing you have someone to help you if you run into any issues while abroad. This is my 4th time using KimKim and I won't plan a trip abroad without them.

Ivan provided fantastic guides and experiences for our two week trip to Croatia. He was always available on WhatsApp for any last minute information. I would highly recommend using his services.

Djana, our guide in Dubrovnik, and Ina, our guide in Split, organized great walking tours and provided so much information and context for what we were seeing. Touring without a guide is a waste of time.

We also enjoyed our trip to Ston to learn about (and eat) oysters and mussels. Another highlight was truffle hunting with the family Prodan.

The Oyster Tasting and Farming Experience in Ston Bay was very good. I booked it partially because the other couple loves oysters, and it turned out to be a fun experience for all of us. Personally, I preferred the mussels, but overall, it was a delightful day.

The truffle hunt was an outstanding experience! Everyone loved it, and we even found two truffles which was a fantastic bonus. The family hosting the event was lovely. It was an enjoyable and memorable activity that I would highly recommend.

We gave Ireland Walk Hike Bike our itinerary and they planned everything for us - accommodations were excellent, the hire car was great, the private drive on the Ring of Kerry was fabulous, the routings were well-planned. All-in-all a really great trip!

We have just made it back home from a trip of a lifetime! Our travel agent, Irene, is truly the best in the business! We planned an 18 day trip including Milan, Verona, Venice, Rome, Athens, and last Santorini. She had every single place and tour mapped out with a Google link for us to get to. This was such a comfort! She also had all our train and tour tickets digitally on our itinerary which was a life saver! And to us, the most comforting feeling in the world when when you are in a foreign country is when traveling from city to city, having a driver there holding a sign up with your name waiting for you! You have such a feeling of relief because at times you are overwhelmed with traveling. Best feeling in the world. All our tours were top notch and very informative. We have incredible photos of the last 18 days and memories of a lifetime all because of KimKim and Iene! I cannot say enough wonderful things about her and KimKim! We will always call her first for all traveling experiences!

Ayoub was an amazing and friendly guide, and his deep knowledge of Marrakech made our visit truly memorable. We also enjoyed Mohamed on the food tour and other local guides for the city and medina. Saïd ensured everything went smoothly and showed us how valuable great guides are to truly enjoy Marrakech and its surroundings. Highlights included the Majorelle Gardens, a walk in the Atlas Mountains with a wonderful meal at a Berber family home, and a desert day trip with a camel ride. Highly recommended!

My wife and I just returned from our 10 day trip to Germany. The trip was planned to perfection and there were zero issues. Mathilde selections of hotels, train travel and tours fit nicely into exactly what we were looking for. We began in Mainz, then off to Munich, then Nuremberg (with a day trip to Rothenburg), and we ended with Berlin. We will definitely use Mathilde/KimKim again for our international travel needs. Thank you Mathilde and the rest of the Kim Kim that also helped us along the way

I had the most fabulous experience having Katsu arrange my trip to Japan. He was so thoughtful in how he listened to what I hoped to do> He then prepared the most perfects plans for my trip! All recommendations Katsu suggested were perfect. His communications were fantastic. Very regular and very caring.. One very special element that Katsu included was the arrangement of members from his company to accompany me or meet me at each train station. This made each transition so easy and smooth. Each person that assisted me was a true delight to meet and were SO helpful!!! Katsu was always available if I needed him during my trip. Without a doubt. my trip was marvelous because of the support and services from Katsu and his team. I give them the highest recommendations- more than amazing!!

From planning the trip to implementing the various itinerary changes, KimKim attempted to keep us happy with our daily activities. They succeeded, our driver Redouane, was tremendous about suggesting and making dinner reservations, picking us up on demand with a smile and keeping our daily trips on schedule. I thought they all did an outstanding job. Highlights for our group was the Fez tour and guide, the Rabat tour and guide and the Marrakesh Cooking course. They were exceptional with the others were very good! Great adventure and great memories.

The kimkim team was great and Noga was incredibly responsive and put together a great trip for us. Overall, hotel accommodations were wonderful. The last hotel we stayed in, Hotel Odinsve, was not nearly as nice as the other hotels. Kudos to Nick for his responsiveness in getting us a room change and we are most appreciative of kimkim paying for the upgrade.

We have nothing but wonderful things to say about Burcu Kisakurek, Unison Travel, and the connection KimKim facilitated. Burcu was kind, attentive, and thorough from first contact to last, even though we didn't contact her to plan this trip until the last minute. She took great care of us, found us wonderful guides, made all adjustments necessary, and planned a fantastic trip, well beyond what we even knew to ask for. She stayed in close touch with us throughout our trip so that we knew we'd have help if we needed it (though we didn't because she'd done such a good job setting us up). Special shout-out to Cengiz Ozturk, who is a perfect and delightful guide of Istanbul and beyond.

Hakim was wonderful to work with. He was involved with every step of our planning and provided excellent communication, always very responsive. He designed the itinerary to meet our needs and expectations and his team executed the trip flawlessly.

Pedro was great! My trip was planned perfectly for my daughter and I! Hotels locations and tours were great!

The communication and trip planning was excellent, our trip plan covered everything we wanted to do.

The Roadbook and having the app on our iPhone home screen was incredible. EVERYTHING we needed for our trip was accessible through the app, tickets, locations, ferry connections etc.

We were never left waiting, somebody was always there to meet us or to assist.

Hotel accommodations and locations met and exceeded our expectations. In particular the Leonardo Royal Hotel was an excellent welcome to our trip…it was a great start to our trip. The umbrella rental was a nice touch. The staff was excellent and friendly. I encourage you to use the Leonardo when possible. The other accommodations were also wonderful.

Our smaller coach day trip to St Andrews was beyond expectations, the time we had at the Old Course was magical. Declan our guide/driver was excellent.

Though the bus was larger than expected, which we don’t hold Kim Kim responsible, our Harry Potter Train day was rainy BUT fun as the driver and guide were very attentive and “knew their audience “ as they say and provided for adequate stops.

Memorable connections were made during our stay at Inverness, a delightful city and The Pizzaria restaurant run by real Italians was phenomenal, please encourage others to support this business.

Our private driver/guide day was magical as Graham our last minute substitute driver guide was extremely attentive and genuinely wanted us to have a day to remember…he did not fail. The scenery was stunning.

We encourage others to take the ferry to Belfast and also encourage others to upgrade to the lounge area.

The Political Tour in Belfast was sobering and very educational…we truly believe one needs this tour to truly understand Belfast.

The private driver to the Giants Causeway was also a delight as we made a couple of stops along the way…beautiful costal scenery.

For future customers interested in golf, our dinner at Holywood Golf Course was a dream come true. We were given a tour of Rory McIlroy’s trophy room and allowed to take photos with the trophies in hand…phenomenal. PLEASE TELL FUTURE CUSTOMERS ABOUT THIS RESTAURANT AND EXPERIENCE. The meal was wonderful.

The only glitch was with the Paddywagon folks putting us on a large 50 person bus for a long 10-11 hour day across Ireland to the Cliffs of Moher, stops seemed limited, and it just seemed to be a difficult ride in a large bus with all the switchbacks , somewhat of a nauseous ride. This is the only day I would do over AND Kim Kim adequately compensated us for this faux pas or whatever the problem was…thank you.

Connections to our departure flight were seamless.

The two weeks that we just competed in Ireland was fantastic, thanks to Jane and her colleagues at Kimkim. This is our second European vacation using Kimkim and Jane, and I really enjoyed working with them. They listened to us regarding our travel style and desired destinations and activities and between emails and video conferencing, the plan came together. And it remained flexible until it was time for Kimkim to made the paid reservations, which let me make a few tweaks to the plan

This was a vacation using public transportation, staying in 5 cities/towns over the two weeks. Jane and team arranged the hotels, tour tickets, train tickets, transfers between cities with no train and airport transfers. The city overview and suggestions that was part of our final electronic packet was well done and fill of good information

Their after hours access was great; I used it the last evening to make 100% sure my 6am taxi was confirmed for departure day.

Overall, I am very satisfied. I like having access to Kimkim’s in country experts and think this alone is of great value to me. Thanks, Jane and everyone who helped us have this experience

TOTALLY loved kayaking (though wish it were a longer kayak), hiking on the glacier and into the ice cave, and the food tour. The guides for all of those were fantastic. Great hiking experiences and interesting sites. Gummi provided excellent restaurant recommendations. The food was just so fresh and tasty!
