Kimkim Trip Reviews

In September 2025 we took a family trip to France with our two adult children. We started planning the trip in January and began working with Emma at KimKim shortly thereafter. After gathering everyone’s suggestions and ideas I forwarded them to Emma and she began sketching out our trip. Over the next few months our plans came together and excitement built. Before our departure date, Emma was transferred to another country but her replacement, Amandine, never missed a beat. From our arrival in Paris to our departure 15 days later everything just fell into place. Information and instructions provided were clear and accurate. Even when things didn’t quite go as planned, Amandine was always available to assist.

We were most impressed when we heard that there might be a “day of action” on our last travel day back into Paris. Before we could even think about what it might mean for us, there was a note from Amandine indicating that she had proactively reserved a rental car for us as an alternative.

Since our return, Amandine has continued to be available to resolve a few minor hotel transactions that needed to be resolved.

We are impressed and have already started talking about another family trip with KimKim. We highly recommend this company!

Because it was a rainy morning, the crew accommodated the weather and suggested we go check into our hotel and come back in the afternoon for a better sailing experience. Miguel & Luis really made the 4h tour, fun and enjoyable. They allowed for some hands-on experiences and treated us like old friends!

Portugal’s Little Venice: A Day in Aveiro & the Colorful Coast

We very much enjoyed this half day excursion. Eva has a Masters in History and was knowledgeable in all things Portuguese. We certainly learned a lot. She took us to a market in Aveiro and we felt very much like a local. She had arranged for us to have a traditional lunch of suckling pig on a bun in an open air market.

We loved Scotland and were very appreciative that we got to see so many things in our 10 days. My feedback is solely on our challenges with accommodations scheduled.

At our first location (Glasgow) - the hotel and our guide from our roadbook were inaccurate relative to when meals (specifically breakfast) was. It caused us some stress as we tried to figure out where to have breakfast before very early tour dates. I wish it were more accurate.

We LOVED the Rocpol hotel - the hotel was fantastic! However, included with our rooms were 3 things each day - tea at 3pm; glass of wine/champange at 5pm; and spoons and a drink at 6pm. We only were able to enjoy tea at ONE day, wine never, and spoons one day. It would have been nice to not have the tours end so late that we couldn't enjoy Inverness nor the hotel and the amazing services. I felt like we didn't get value from what we paid for the hotel. Additionally, at least one of the suggested things to do in Inverness were not doable due to Sunday start date.

The final accommodation Frazer Suites was not good at all. First, they are apartments that have mini-kitchens and we didn't need that. Second, the facilities were really dated and bathroom was gross. Third, we had to ask for towels and our room was cleaned 1 time (not really well) in our stay. Finally, the hotel staff was just OK. After the experience at Rocpool, it was such a disappointment. Finally the location - while close to Edinburg Castle - nothing else was nearby - meaning most of the shops and attractions closed by 7pm and all that was there was restaurants. I am not sure why we stayed at that hotel at that location - as we didn't get very much out of it - a rather gross hotel in an ok location.

My last recommendation is that on future tours, you have people start with the hop on/hop off tours - which provide a really great way to learn about each city and gives you a good idea of places to visit etc

Just wanted to mention that Anna-Marie, our tour director, was great. We had a couple of hiccups that she took care of very quickly for us.

Our itinerary was just what we asked for. We started in Zagreb. Not knowing much about the city I had no real expectation. I was very impressed by the architecture and the history of the city and country. Sadat was another one of our stops. The city was small and could easily be walked. The Roman influenced architecture was truly spectacular as well as the selections of restaurants. Split was our next stop. It was a lively city that again was easy to walk and had some spectacular architecture in the old town section of the city. The highlight of Split was our our food tour which took us to 4 restaurants to sample local dishes which isn’t accurate because each restaurant was a full meal course that were different and delicious. We then went on to Hvar which is an island that is beautiful and historic. The highlight here was our hiking expedition in the hills to see some abandoned villages, hear about the history of the island, and delight in some spectacular views from high above the city. Our last stop was Dubrovnik which has the crown jewel of old towns in Croatia. Truly spectacular. We also took in an interesting museum which was the War Photography Museum. Very informative and moving.

The KimKim team for Greece really knocked it out of the park for our 10 day tour or main land Greece and several islands. The activities they suggested for us were spot on for what what we like to do and were the perfect small groups. The accommodations were perfect boutique hotels in the best locations that allowed us to walk around town and really get a feel for the local culture. We visited, Athens, Paros (Alike), Santorini (Kamari Beach) and Crete (Chania) so there were a lot of logistics as planes, taxies and ferries were required and everything was incredibly smooth. When I did have a question mid trip our POC Lea had answers for me in under 15 minutes. This really was a dream come true tip and we can't wait to plan our next trip using KimKim. Huge thanks to our in country planner Ionnis and our coordinator and trip POC, Lea. You guys crushed it!

I have no words to describe how much we loved this hotel. We had the Belmomdo suite with the most amazing views of Old Harbor, perfectly walkable to tons of shopping and restaurants with the best views ever. If I could move into our suite I would. We booked a bucket list trip with Kim Kim to Peru. They asked what kind of trip we were looking for, e.g., hiking, city, relaxing adventure. We told them we wanted to reconnect with nature and boy did they deliver! The literary was everything we'd hoped for and more! Everything was seamless from our drivers-Willy was awesome! to our guides- hugh shout out the Edwar! to even solving a few bumps along the way. The Kim Kim team is amazing and we will definitely be using their service again for a safe and fun vacation!

Highlights: the excursions. With the one exception, all the tours were on time for pick up. The guides were friendly, professional, informative and fun! The driver's were great. Would recommend the white water rafting, the zip lining, the hikes and the kayaking.
We had the one issue where the surf lesson company got the time wrong, but they made it up later in the day and the instructor was great. Fortunately, we were available to come later. We are awaiting the refund from that excursion.

Lowlights: I have already contacted kimkim about issues with the Silencio hotel in detail. Banana Azul- staff was friendly, food was pretty good. Place is worn, holes in the walls and construction going on. Nice location on the beach though.

Overall, the four of us had a great time and would recommend the country to others. Our itinerary involved a lot of driving, but I am not sure that could have been avoided. Adam was responsive to the extent he was able when we had problems.

This was our issue. The front desk have away our family sized room by mistake. So, out first night we were crammed into a regular room. We were told they were going to do something to make it up to us. That never happened. I asked for a refund amounting to the difference in the room rates. Depending on who I talked to at the front desk I was told a different story. I just didn't want to argue with them on my vacation. They need some training in customer service.

Our trip to Portugal was incredible. We loved the walking tour, led by Alex who was well informed on the history of Lisbon. He spent extra time with us and also introduced us to Ginja.
All of our preset pickups were punctual and the boutique type hotels were in great locations.

Miguel, our guide on the tour to the Douro wine region was very knowledgeable of the area and a great historian. The area and views of the wineries were absolutely stunning. Miguel introduced us to ‘green wine’ and he knew a tremendous amount about US history, so he was prepared to engage with the Americans, as well.

Our drive to Nazaré and Obidos then back to Lisbon from Porto was a fantastic day of learning and traveling the countryside. Nuno was our driver, he was prompt and allowed us to spend as much time as we wanted in both cities. Both cities are worth taking the time to see.

Our guide Vicky did an in credible job and was always washing our trip , weather and. Other developments. We could not had had a better trip and service

Our trip to Athens, Paros, Antiparos and Naxos exceeded our expectations. Erica was very helpful in planning the trip and the KimKim app worked well in allowing us to seamlessly keep track of our itinerary on the road. Some of the service providers who were particularly friendly and helpful along the way - Nasos Thanasas was our driver to and from the Athens airport, the staff at the Stelia Mare Hotel in Paros, the guides at the Traditional Cooking experience on a Naxos Village Farm and the Naxos Private Wine Experience.

We were not aware of the Cycladic summer winds that are common and did in fact have high winds our first couple of days in Paros. That is the risk you take in traveling to the Cyclades in the summer months and the weather was otherwise ideal. But it may make sense to consider making the trip further into the shoulder seasons on either side of summer.

Renting cars was easy although the driving is a bit challenging with very narrow roads and dodging tour buses on Naxos. In particular, we took a car on the ferry from Paros to Antiparos and very much enjoyed a day on Antiparos exploring the cave there and relaxing on Soros Beach.

We wound up with what was basically a layover day in Athens at the Athens Riviera Hotel on the way out as our flight home the following day was in the early AM. We wish we had taken an earlier flight from Naxos to Athens to have more time in Athens on that day.

In total, we chose several days on Paros and Naxos at Erica's recommendation and do not regret the choice. Other friends had told us Mykonos and Santorini are beautiful but much more crowded. We are not Greece experts by any means and there are many other islands to consider.

The Athenian Riviera hotel was a lovely hotel with beautiful rooms, but it felt quite isolated without much within walking distance. The hotel itself was lovely, but it felt like being in the States rather than in Greece. The logistics of getting there and back were not ideal for our schedule.

The day cruise sailing around Paros was lovely. The food was surprisingly amazing for a day cruise, and the staff was excellent. It was quite windy, but that's just Mother Nature.

The private wine experience in Naxos was very good. Our guide was passionate about what he does, and we enjoyed the tour. Just a tip for others, I'll suggest wearing tennis shoes for comfort, as there's a bit of walking involved.

Traditional Cooking Experience at Village Farm

The traditional cooking experience at a village farm in Naxos was delightful. We cooked stuffed tomatoes and peppers with vegetable and rice, added tzatziki sauce, and made a chocolate dessert. The setting was a nice old family farm, and the food was delicious.

Nikola was so helpful and easy to work with. The plans were seamless and easy to follow.

We absolutely loved our trip to Vietnam. Lucy, our local specialist helped tremendously during our planning phase. She was very accommodating even when we had to make several changes. Our guide, KC and driver, Quang while we were in Hanoi were spectacular. KC was very informative and kept us entertained the entire time. He really made the first part of our trip extra special. Quang was such a great driver and was able to handle the crazy traffic in Hanoi with ease.
All of our hotels were high end and the staff were always there to help us in any way. Annie from the GM Premium Hotel in Hanoi was like a personal assistant helping us find places to eat, an ATM and providing us reservations even on the 80th anniversary which was hard to come by.
We had a cooking class with Chef Ai and her niece and it was definitely a highlight of our trip.
In Phu Quoc we stayed at the Dusit Princess Moonrise hotel. The staff was exceptional. We especially loved Victor in the hotel bar and Ms. My who gave us several excursion options. We had a great experience at the spa there and loved our massages.
In Ho Chi Minh City the hotel restaurant manager was extra special. He sat and talked with us for over 30 minutes even after they closed. He suggested drinks to try and other establishments in town that we might like.
Our last night in Ho Chi Minh City was spent on a street food tour with Vespa Wanderers and we loved it! Riding on the Vespas was so exciting and the food was great. At the end of the night they gave us a mini scrapbook with pictures taken of us throughout the night. That made it all more special and we have no idea how they were able to get it completed without us knowing.
Vietnam was everything we had hoped and more. Each hotel had a special welcome for us when we got there. Lucy made sure everyone knew we were there to celebrate our anniversary and they made sure to make it extra special. We can't wait to go back

I had a fantastic time. Sebastian did a great job putting together the itinerary and details of the trip. My tour guide, Julian, for the tour of the Paris Notre Dame Cathedral was wonderful. He was very informative and knowledgeable about the cathedral and its rebuilding after the fire. Notre Dame holds a special place in the world's heart. The fire was devastating and it was nice to see, that the cathedral looks better than ever.

I loved Reims. It is a beautiful city. The history of the place is awesome. Loved touring the city with Christine as she told the story of the city under Roman rule, to the birth of the France, the devastation of WWI and the rebuilding of the city.

Strasbourg is just so charming. It is an old city with buildings that date back to 1500's and beyond. The cathedral is so impressive. Loved the Alsace village tour with Penelope. She was fun and knowledgeable about all things Alsace.

The Hotel Bristol is in a prime location, near many eating establishments. Loved the room, loved the shower (these things are important when traveling, the hotel staff were great and the breakfast, which was included, was great. It was within easy walking distance from the train station.

A Half-Day tour in the Alsatian villages from Strasbourg

My guide, Penelope, was great. She drove us around to three different villages, making stops along the way. We walked around one of them, (not sure which one, they kind of looked alike). Penelope was entertaining and informative. She told us about local foods to try, restaurants to go to, and places to visit. She explained the local dilect as a mixture of French and German words. It was very charming. I would recommend the tour.

My city/cathedral tour with Christine was superb. We started with the building where the WWII surrender was signed and then onto the Mars gate, winding our way to the cathedral. Notre Dame in Reims was fantastic. I know that it was the place were virtually every French king was crowned. So much history, as Clovis was the bridge from the Roman Empire to a recognized French empire. It was nice to see that Reims Cathedral did not suffer the indignities of the French Revolution, that had to wait for WWI. Glad there were American philanthropists that decided Reims was worth rebuilding.

Wonderful relaxing introduction to the city. It was just what I needed after an overnight 10 hour flight.

Beatriz was responsive to our requests and adapted the itinerary several times. We stayed in 5 locations: loved Masseria le Carrube in Val D'Itria; also liked Masseria LuciaGiovanni in Lecce. Hotel Niklaus in Bari was modern and comfortable. Borgo SAn Gregorio in Avellino was wonderful. Only accomodation that was truly weird was hotel in Napoli: had to ride a freight elevator to get to the room, also pay for each elevator ride, then had to go to the floor above and walk down to get to our room, as the little elevator did not stop there. The ceiling of the room was papered with old newspapers, many with big water stains. It was well-located and staff friendly, but would not recommend it. Would recommend all the others. We tried several of Beatriz's restaurant recs and they were all really good. We especially liked how easy it was to access our itinerary on our phones, and ample info including parking advice was included, and it made the travel so much easier. We think she did a great job, and when she was not available someone else was easily contacted. We had to change several of our plans, and that was all taken care of without our having to hassle with it. Altogether a great trip! Thank you.

We had an unforgettable trip organized by Claire with the help of Rachel and Chloe. They arranged for us to stay in wonderful hotels and tour around Ireland for two weeks. Every day was just perfect but we particularly enjoyed the Guinness Storehouse Stoutie Experience, Kilmainham Gaol, the Cliffs of Moher, the ring of Kerry and Killarney National Park, live music at Sin e in Cork, the Jameson Distillery tour in Middleton with a premium tasting, the Ardmore Cliff Walk and lovely Cliff House Hotel, Galway City Museum and live music in The King’s Head pub, the Killary Sheep Dog Demonstration, Tullamore DEW distillery, and Dublinia museum. The trip ended with a great night of live music and Irish dancing in the Irish House Party. Could not have asked for a better trip, didn’t want it to end!

Peru Trip: All the guides (Tino, Sonya and Vanessa) were great. Very Knowledgeable and friendly. The entire trip was amazing. From the jungle of Puerto Maldonado, to Scared Valley, mountains of Mach Picchu, Cusco and coastal city of Lima. Food was delicious (except for most of the desserts - texture was too different for me). All the accommodations where different (which I liked) and very nice. Probably my most memorable places were the jungle tours and gorgeous canbanas. The yummy lunch at Mountain View with the beautiful views and adorable alpacas and llamas. The scenic train ride to Aguas Calientes and delicious authentic lunch in the beautiful garden of El Alberque along with demonstration were great. Breathtaking views and excitement of climbing Mach Picchu. City sites, tours and cooking class in Cusco were so much fun. While Lima was nice, it was my least favorite place. Just another big city. However, the museum and garden tour was a hidden gem. Definitely will use KimKim again.

Everything was great all three hotels were wonderful to stay at! The experiences were top notch, both Puerto Viejo and Arenal took our breath away

We were equally impressed with each new adventure that came along. Although there were a couple of hiccups, none of which were Kimkim's fault, Kristy quickly resolved the issues and each and every meet up and transfer went off at planned. The accommodations were perfect and the did was very good. What a great trip we had!!

The trip included a nice mix of rural and metropolitan Ireland and visits to four locations. The food, hotels and excursions were were well planned and allowed us to see alot of Ireland in a short period of time.

We are all appreciative of the agency and our family members who planned this lovely holiday. Cheers!

Another amazing trip to Iceland completed and once again, our local specialist Adam came through by going above and beyond in planning our trip. Adam never failed to show enthusiasm and did such a wonderful job planning our itinerary down to the last amazing detail with helpful suggestions, hidden gems and additional insights/places to check out along our routes. (Thanks for adding the bridges Adam, very interesting to see in my line of work!). We found his Google maps guiding us along with descriptions particularly helpful as well.
This was my third time using KimKim. As usual, everything was stress-free and hassle-free from the minute we landed to the minute we boarded our return flight home. Rental car, hotels and our excursions were taken care of with ease with very minimal issues.
Because Iceland is such a beautiful country with so much to see and do, especially during the busy summer tourist season, Adam broke down our journey by mapping our route into bits and pieces so we didn't feel overwhelmed. We were able to see areas we missed last time due to limited time and darkness (we went in December of 2023). We found surprises along our routes that became memorable (Troll Garden in Fossatun comes to mind) and yes, we were blessed to view the Aurora Borealis staying in Vik. Truly amazing.
Thank you very much Adam, you once again made this a very enjoyable and memorable trip for my wife and I. Your continued enthusiasm in the planning of our trip was a blessing and much appreciated. I sure hope to have you as a specialist again in the future when I make another return trip to the Land of Fire and Ice.
