We had the best trip and everything went smoothly! We will definitely be using KimKim again for our overseas travel.

Mint was quick to take action to rebook outings and adjust hotel stay when a typhoon resulted in our flight being cancelled at the last minute. We stayed with family in a remote area of Thailand. On the day we transferred from this remote area to Bangkok, Mint found Wildlife Friends Foundation Thailand where our family, including 6 grandchildren between 2-12 enjoyed seeing tigers, gibbons, and feeding elephants. The lunch buffet included with the tour was outstanding. It was good knowing we were supporting an organization that helps abused animals. The best part of going to the floating market was that we took a longboat tour to the floating market along a narrow canal that backed up to local’s homes. The Peking duck spring rolls in Bangkok’s Chinatown were delicious. This street food was provided by a fancy hotel vendor. We stayed at the beautiful Anantara Riverside Bangkok Resort. The Manohra dinner cruise departs from the pier located at the Anantara hotel. The dinner cruise was enjoyable. When I inquired about discounts while on the cruise, staff gave us a Buy One Get One Free coupon at one of the Anantara bars. The extensive breakfast buffet at the Anantara Hotel was out of this world. The pool area is beautiful and the free gym was well appointed. Mint arranged for guides and drivers that arrived promptly. Mint was quick to respond to questions on What’s App and coordinated activities well. She was flexible in adjusting activities as the need arose. We enjoyed having a hotel near the night market in Hua Hin.

Couple things to note:
- I do not write reviews unless something blows my mind - good or bad
- I was with my family, our teenagers close in age but very different in preferences. (Had our work cut out for us)

1. KimKim: I stumbled upon KimKim having given up on our standard (and unresponsive) travel agency. It was the perfect way to explore experiences without feeling alone or winging it on details that matter when you are jetlagged and out of your comfort zone. And now I am absolutely spoiled having met Pedro. He sets the bar so high that I am totally willing to try KimKim again but wary that anyone can match his care. That said - KimKim provided a super user-friendly interface, reliable communication and time lines. The payment and plan finalization was a breeze. Great platform, totally recommend.

2. Across Portugal: I cannot express how delightful our experience was. Pedro was so communicative and thoughtful in every interaction. And not just during or after the trip. The whole time. Any time I had a question, he answered within hours. What I appreciate most is that I came with ideas and Pedro listened and asked “why” to a couple of my accommodation and tour requests.
He gently redirected me and I am so glad he did. The first was hotel location in Lisbon. I had one neighborhood in mind and he suggested where we ended up staying. (I’ll explain more below). Another was, “mehhh, I don’t know if we need the cultural walking tour day after Sintra” and I am so glad he said “yeah…you do”. First of all, we had the same delightful guide Mariana as with Sintra (and Carlos, who I will get to as well!). We saw parts of the city which would have felt too far or not known how to navigate. Net/net - every single recommendation was SPOT ON. We were greeted by a thoughtful care package of treats. We ended each day with a reminder of our itinerary and time lines. The perfect combination of attention and space. Lovely lovely lovely. I wish he could do every country on our list!

3. Our Portugal itinerary: Probably not that uncommon but we have a history buff and a beach bum - so we chose to stay in Lisbon for 4 days and Algarve (Albufeira) for 5 days leaving 1 day close to the airport back in Lisbon. Day 1 we attempted all Anthony Bourdain spots on our own. Day 2 we went to Sintra and Caiscais. Day 3 was a private walking tour and wine tasting. Day 4 was on our own. Perfect balance of activity and time to explore or just stare. I love that city! From there we went to a private resort outside Albuferia - we could have walked to town but didn’t. We rented a car and it was easy (another recommendation from Pedro and glad we did) back to Lisbon for low stress.

4. People and Experiences: We started by meeting Carlos. What a guy. He was so kind and fun. A gentleman, historian. He cares so deeply. Carlos was chief transportation officer and so much more. He was ALWAYS early, everything handled with care, personal touches regarding recommended restaurants and experiences. He was so fun to be around we asked him to join us for a cliff jump in Algarve (he smartly declined - it was steep). Needless to say we spent nearly 16 hours across the span of our trip and we didn’t stop talking. We learned a ton, shared a ton. That said, I bet if you said - “I need to sleep” he would have lullaby music. Just a gem. We enjoyed his company so much I now call him our friend.
Then Mariana! “PORTUGAL!!!” Was her enthusiastic picture quote and she actually got our 15 yo daughter to smile. Repeatedly which is no small feat. Mariana was so kind and a great conversationalist as well. Not only with us but with everyone around her. She took our pictures and then if others asked, she just did. And when people were bustling by, she just let them pass. She had such a calm yet radiantly positive vibe that made hikes, crowds, decisions feel effortless. She and Carlos pivoted when we needed to at the end of our day tour with such ease. We also LOVED the walking tour the following day. You could really spend a week exploring Lisbon but when you cannot - find Mariana. She’ll show you what you need to see so you can make tough decisions on where to spend your time later. She didn’t blink at taking pics and took care to find the right angles and spaces. So grateful. The Lisbon Winery was a great place to end the day trip as it was calm, cool, great wine and very relaxing vibe. My only regret is that we couldn’t buy some wine.

5. Lodging: In Lisbon we stayed in Heritage Avenida Liberdade Boutique Hotel. Just like real estate. Location location location. We walked everywhere and with ease. The hotel was welcoming clean, comfortable. We received adjourning rooms so our teens had space. It was perfect. It is also a hotel in a historic city not a “resort”. So manage buffet and size expectations appropriately. We have done a fair bit of travel and found it to meet our needs entirely. Highly recommend. While in Algarve we went to Vilalara Thalassa resort. Shout out Nitin! He was our favorite human at that resort. Beautiful views, pickleball, pool, bountiful breakfast, beach access, ample parking, sunset on the deck, great restaurants within 5-10 mins drive. Amazing.

I am so wildly grateful to have met and worked with Pedro, Carlos, Mariana. Such a tremendous experience from beginning to end. Obrigata!

(Estimating 55-60 FT - it was fabulous)

Great spot for low-stress airport transport. Also, we were knackered after 10 days travel so we opted to do “the hotel bar” and wow, it was not a typical hotel joint. Roof-top, Fresh sushi, fun fusion recipes, great GTs, really refreshing sangria. We forgot that we just stayed at the hotel - it was a fun experience

Liz was terrific in planning our month long trip to Australia. Very knowledgeable with great local connections on the east coast and the more remote west coast. From big cities to remote national parks, all arrangements were flawless. Definitely recommend working with Liz.

Kristy at Kim-Kim did a great job organizing exactly the trip I wanted. As usual with Kim-Kim, everything was smooth and easy. Our guide,Sonja, was spectacular. Her English was great. She was extremely knowledgeable about the history and locations we visited. And very fit, as she easily took us hiking up mt Machu Picchu.

Visit and tasting Chateau de Miniere

The wine tasting at Chateau de Miniere was a bit underwhelming. It was just me and the vineyard host, which made the experience feel somewhat isolated. The host poured a series of wines for me to taste, but there wasn't much conversation or interaction. It felt quite solitary, and at the end, she asked if I wanted to buy some wine, which I couldn't do because I was flying. I think it would have been much better with more people to share the experience with.

Cité du Vin : priority access with the skip the line ticket and wine tasting

The Cité du Vin in Bordeaux was a bit of a letdown for me. The building is modern and quite lovely, but I found the experience very basic. It felt more like an introductory course on wine—like "Did you know wine is made from grapes?"—which wasn't very engaging for me. The audio-visual presentations were well-done, but the pacing was off. I often found myself catching segments halfway and not knowing if I should wait for it to restart. Overall, I felt it wasn't the best use of my time.

Croatia was was an amazing destination and Marija created an itinerary that was perfect for our adventure loving family. I love Croatia is still a bit undiscovered. Each city had something magical. I loved that we were able to combine history, outdoor adventure and relaxing beach time all in one vacation. Most of all I was mesmerized by the architecture and mix of old and new.

Private afternoon Zagreb walking tour

Joseph was amazing. She had passion for her country and culture. Shared her own love of sports celebrities from Croatia. Shared the concert locations she loves to frequent. She shared where she likes to vacation. And of course she was wealth of knowledge about Zagreb's history, architecture and all the little secrets. I really loved the story about where the Nazi's stored their weapons and how it was flooded. We loved the furnicular. And it was so special to be there when locals dressed as historical book characters and stopped to talk to you in that time period. Joseph told us about the books and how she read them growing up. This was so special.

Our guide met us at our hotel which was very helpful. One improvement would be to verify driving times - the drive from Zagreb to Plitvice Lakes was an 1.5 hours longer than suggested due to traffic and construction which caused us to rush.

Red Adventures was a terrific outing. The equipment was well maintained. Rami was knowledgeable and fun. We absolutely loved the cliff jumping. It was our 16 year old son's favorite part of the trip.

Full day small group speedboat trip from Split

This was my favorite excursion. The blue cave was captivating and were there at a great time for the light to be vibrant. The wait was really long but ,maybe those who run the caves can pre-book the tours at a certain time. I loved island hopping. The check-in experience prior to leaving wasn't great. The woman said they didn't have my name when it was clearly there and she was rude.

Dubrovnik is the most striking of all the cities we saw. The layout and town center really made you feel like you went back in time. Our guide Mr. Alberto was such an interesting person. He played piano professionally and spoke about the arts in Croatia. He had such love for his city having grown up there. He also spoke about the challenges with the increase in tourism. He recommended dinner locations which is always helpful.

We signed up for an 8 day trip throughout Spain, 4 cities during that time so it was a whirlwind and a great time! Alfonso listened to what we wanted - no more than 1/2 day planned (we've been on trips where all day every day had activities which is not our style) with a cooking class and private tours in each city. We received all of our detailed information in advance to print out and have copies, along with having it accessible on our phones. (For Type A like me it helped a ton to have paper, I also used that to point to the address of where we needed to go for the taxi drivers who did not speak English). We got daily reminders of the next activity we were scheduled for and when I had questions I got a response pretty much immediately so I never felt lost on the itinerary. I was so impressed with the service and attention to detail, I've told everyone about it!

Cooking Class in Seville

This cooking class was awesome. We loved touring the market prior to the class and getting information on the local cuisines and ingredients. Our guide and our chef both spoke fluent English so it made for a fun, easy (not frustrating for everyone) afternoon. The facility was incredibly modern and clean. We made traditional paella and it was the best we tried in Spain! Highly recommend this class.

The hotel selection was good. Some excursions, not so. The Lofoten islands tour was by minivan, not boat as I assumed it was ( islands!). This should be disclosed. The 2 hour private sauna was 1.5 hours longer than it should have been! Waste of money
Still waiting for our kayak refund. Should have been disclosed these are double kayaks and people with flexibility issues ( knee replacement!) may have trouble getting in.

We had to ask for assistance to get the prior group out. After requesting towels ( not initially provided. Seems like a sanitary issue) we went in the sauna. Very hot! Can dive into the water adjacent to the floating sauna from the roof.

I would like to say I am grateful for Tamer and most especially to Karla who made the plans, changes and answered all my questions as i planned for this trip. Having a tight budget, Karla still managed to put together a good itineray for me. I also appreciated that Karla went to see me personally and took me out for coffee overlooking the city of quito. I felt special and i can say this is above and beyond her duty. So thank you, Karla.

My guides in Quito and Amazon - Christian and Sergio, respectively, are very knowledgeable and really took care of me and ensures my safety. They are very welcoming and i did not felt alone with this trip. So thank you very much for them. The reason for the 3 stars is that i did not have a positive experience in my 3 days Galapagos trip. It was supposed to be the highlight of my trip. I have shared my feedback as a solo traver and also provided improvements / recommendations to Tamer/Karla.

I would still like to explore more of the Galapagos and hopefully my experience would be better next time.

Sara - Colosseum and Roman Forum: EXCELLENT experience. Sara was so knowledgable and passionate, as well as friendly. We thoroughly enjoyed just having the 4 of us on this tour, which made it so much more intimate. Would highly recommend smaller tour groups, like ours

Franscesca - Vatican and St Peter's Basilica: VERY enjoyable, and our guide was super knowledgable and passionate about her job. This made it a super fun experience. It was unfortunate that many of the areas in the Basilica were under reconstruction so we couldn't see them.

Sarah - Pompeii: One of my favorite parts of the trip. Sarah was funny, informative and extremely knowledgeable/passionate. Glad we added this at the last minute. Having a really small tour group, with just the 4 of us, made the experience extra special.

Rosanna - Naples Underground - She went way above and beyond, going to the hospital with 2 of our group, way past the time we were allotted to have her. Was so highly impressed at her professionalism, knowledge, and overall kindness.

Storywalking Team: I cannot say enough about how organized the team was, and proactive/timely in their communication. We all felt safe and in good hands the entire time!

Bryan put together a great trip for us. we spent 10 days in Costa Rica, including Tortuguero, Arenal, and Manuel Antonio. Nice mix of activities and great guides. For many of the activities, it was just the 2 of us ( I went with my kid) and guide, which was nice, more relaxing and added flexibility vs touring with a group. Awesome nature, ziplining in Arenal is a must, wished we spent more time in Manuel Antonio so we could enjoy the beach and ocean (we were only there 1.5 days, I think it deserves minimum of 3-4 days, although we got in a spectacular hike with lots of wildlife including sloths and monkeys).
Also really appreciated that being an anxious traveler, I had questions every single day, and Bryan and his staff got back to me promptly every question I texted. While I never met them in person, I always felt like they were present and ready to help.

Chris was outstanding in communicating with me both in planning and during the amazing trip to Italy. His local contact, Maria, was very helpful and responsive as we made our way from Venice to Florence and finally to Rome. I would not hesitate to use their services again.

Highly recommend. Our driver, Matteo, was knowledgeable and flexible to our timeline. We enjoyed it very much.

Had a fabulous and seamless trip. Lize did an amazing job down to the last detail. Starting in Cape Town with our guide and driver Oliver who was an expert on Cape Town and its surrounds. From our trips to wine country, the botanical gardens and the peninsula penguins, to our walks around the wharf, it was a great experience only to be surpassed by our 4 days in Camp George on twice daily safaris with Julius who was an amazing guide with a great sense of humor. We saw a pride of lions with a fresh water buffalo kill, elephants, rhinos, buffaloes, a leopard and so much more. The camp was beautiful and the service even better. On to the beautiful Victoria Falls with our guide Bees. Then on a 4 day houseboat safari on the Chobe River with twice daily river game drives with Movins to see the animals from another perspective. Accommodations everywhere were better than expected (although the houseboat could use some updates) and the attention to detail was fabulous. All and all a great vacation that more than met our expectations and one that I would highly recommend. KimKim and Lize did a fantastic job! Kudos to all.

The ride to the lodge (as to all the surrounding lodges) was a challenge but once there it was well worth every bump. Our driver referred to the ride as an African massage. That it was!

We were in the Faroe Islands from July 29-August 4, 2024. Once we got the WIFI properly installed in the car at the airport, the rest of the trip was a breeze. The driving instructions were easy to follow even though we had to change the daily itinerary due to a ferry cancellation to Mykines Island because of rough seas. The tunnels were easy to navigate as were the highways. The scenery was spectacular! Our favorite days were the Traelanipa Trail along Leitisvatn Lake to the point where it plunges into the sea, visiting the iconic Mulafossur waterfall twice, and the drive to Vidareidi on Vidoy Island with its incredible views and few tourists. Communication with Hanna before and while on the trip was super! She patiently answered our stupid questions and planned a great week for us! The accommodations were clean and adequate. Thanks, Hanna and Kimkim!

Our coordinator, Andrea, was immediately and consistently available both before and during our visit (including the weekends!) and quickly helped to make last-minute adjustments as competing priorities dictated. Every service, including four expert tour guides (for museums, the Duomo, the Uffizi and Lake Como) were expert, polite, engaging and prompt. Every arranged driver for transitions and trips were punctual, polite and professional. And, the surprise highlight was the great "off the beaten path" experience of truffle hunting in the Tuscan countryside, and then transforming those truffles ourselves into homemade tagliatelle and ravioli pasta with locals hosts, who then served us in an outdoor balcony with a view of vineyards, farms and forests! Overall, Andrea, very well done and we were able to go at our own pace and still experience more than just the highlights, but also expert insights into our Florence, Lugano and Lake Como adventure.

Truffle Hunt and Cooking Class in Tuscany Countryside

The family and team here (3 generations!) are expert in the truffle trade, with a local farmstead with an excellent view of vineyards, farms and forests. Their well-trained and engaging truffle-hunting dogs were a hit and, within only a short walking distance, we were able to see multiple examples of the soils and trees that are best for production of truffles. We then transitioned with our guides into the "house" for our hands-on pasta making experience, including tagliatelle and ravioli including those same black truffles the dogs just found along our walk. The whole team is quite engaging and we even enjoyed getting to meet other fellow travelers experiencing the same while on their vacations. Highly recommend.

Our main guides Pukie and Ron were terrific. They were so helpful and friendly and provided so much interesting information about everything we saw. In fact all our guides from the Baan Chang Elephant Park to Thonburi were excellent. We loved having private guides to show us sites off the beaten path (my favorite was Wat Thong Noppakhun--like no other temple we saw in Thailand!) Our hotels were generally very comfortable. We would not hesitate to recommend Lacey's services for planning a trip to Thailand.
