Kimkim Trip Reviews

We used kimkim to book a trip to Costa Rica (on a recommendation from a neighbor) and from the start to finish, it has been a wonderful experience! Holden was the local specialist from Serendipity Adventures who worked with us to come up with a high level itinerary and activities to do based on our interests, kids’ ages and his recommendations. I appreciate how flexible he was to make changes and adjust the itinerary/exercises when we changed our mind :) He was always around to answer any questions/concerns around the trip (for example: self drive vs. using private pickup/drop-offs), giving us all the options and impacts on time, cost, etc. Once we had confirmed the itinerary and the place tickets and made the payments, we were introduced to the Operations team of Wilman and Nancy from Serendipity Adventures. I was really impressed on how they were always accessible and available to answer questions, to give us gentle reminders, offer preparation tips and be the go-to support for the trip.

Our trip started with a hiccup when our flights had to be changed the day-of travel but just letting Wilman know the new flight details was all it took to ensure that our arrival in Costa Rica was smooth, without any more bumps. He and his team also helped to work with one of the hotels when we had some room issues and made the whole situation so smooth and less stressful. Wilman used to check in often to ensure that things were on track, communicate if a pick up was running late, gave reminders about upcoming activities or to request early breakfast! Really thankful to him and his team!

The hike guides (Mariano, Alex, Andres) and car drivers (Mariano, Alex) - were just great and really fun to talk with! We learned so much about the new country, its ways, the food and the amazing biodiversity with each of these individuals who enriched our experience, and ensured that we were safe, comfortable and had fun! All the activities that were organized with Holden’s help - the zip-lining, forest night tours, kayaking were great and thankfully the weather cooperated all along!

We wanted a low-stress, memorable family vacation in Greece to celebrate our daughter's college graduation, and Eirini and the KimKim team exceeded expectations! We shared what we like to do and Eirini created a perfect itinerary focused on the local food and culture with plenty of time to kick back with a book and relax. Highlights were the food tour of Naxos with Natasha, a wonderfully, enthusiastic guide and the walking tour of small villages with Stella who was amazingly knowledgeable about the flora and fauna, giving us aromatherapy treats from obliging trees and introducing us to an adorable fennel-loving donkey. But all of our guides and activities, without fail, exceeded expectations, and the fellow travelers we met in our groups along the way only enhanced each experience. I very much appreciated not having to worry about the details and knowing Eirini and team were available to answer our questions, which they always did very promptly. Highly recommend Eirini and KimKim!

The whole trip was memorable. Tiago did an amazing job. We learned so much about the Country and History. I loved experiencing different regions and seeing beautiful beaches, wine country, Castles and Palaces. Food was wonderful. Tiago was patient, flexible and we enjoyed his company.

After trying to plan a multi-city visit to Norway on my own (a country I had never been to) that including small towns where my ancestors are from, I decided I needed to find someone who could plan it for us and found kimkim.

Veronika did a wonderful job of planning our trip, including the details of setting up taxi rides for us to take from a train to the hotel when needed (this was in multiple towns). And when we rented a car for a few days, she made sure the rental company was in walking distance of our hotel. When we just needed a quick overnight stay, the hotel she booked was within walking distance of the train station (it was even easy for my mother - who is in her 80s - to walk to it). When planning the trip, Veronika paid attention to the things we were interested in and also had suggestions for things we didn't know about but definitely fit our interests. She helped introduce Norway to us and we loved our time there.

The kimkim website did get a little confusing sometimes for where I was supposed to look for the information I needed while during the trip (when I didn't have the pages we printed out readily available). I was using my phone to look at the kimkim website and sometimes couldn't find the info at first, but would eventually find it. I somehow missed a message within the itinerary detailed section about contacting our tour guide ahead of time for the personal walking tour of Oslo. It was to let him know our interests and what we wanted to see. I only saw it right before we met up with our guide, Neil, but things worked out. We let him know some of the things we wanted to see, he made a few suggestions, and then off we went. He was a great guide and having just arrived in Oslo that day, totally unfamiliar with the city, he pointed out where we could find the places that we would be going to in the next few days and the best ways to get there. That was the only time I completely missed something on the itinerary during the trip, though.

It was really nice to have our tickets for the trains, museums, and tours all in one place that I could just bring up on my phone so we didn't have to keep track of papers as we traveled (unpacking and repacking) all over southern Norway.

Alvaro put together a comprehensive itinerary for my first trip not only Ecuador but to the continent of South America. I normally do my own research and planning but figured I would give this a try this time. Alvaro had very good suggestions on what I was looking for and after numerous discussions - he was able to adjust and modify the itinerary that suited my wants/needs. Alvaro was very responsive to my messages and did his best to accommodate my requests for additional services. Belen, my local contact in Ecuador, was also great to work with. Even with the initial problem upon my arrival that was stressful at the time - Alvaro and Belen worked promptly to resolve the issue of my airport to hotel transfer. I really enjoyed my time in Ecuador and would recommend using Kimkim to anyone.

Nice and spacious rooms. The noise from the outside varies based on the location of the room. I found that the rooms on the upper floors tended to be noisier. Food was ok. The hotel was located within walking distance of Plaza Fochs, where there were many restaurant options to choose from.

Rustic experience in the jungle. I think one has to manage their expectations when staying here. The rooms are nice and comfortable - no air conditioning but a fan is available. Even with screened windows, it's still not unexpected to find insects inside the room like moths or small ants. Power outage is also par for the course - especially with the unpredictable weather that could go from sunny and humid, to a deluge of rain. The staff were amazing - they made the experience totally enjoyable.

Probably the most memorable experience for me during this 10-day trip. I was the only one taking the horseback riding tour amongst my group, so I lucked out with getting a private tour with my guide. It was a my first time horseback riding and I was very grateful to have a docile horse. The ride was challenging - involving flats on the plains surrounding Cotopaxi, some hills and valleys, and water crossings. The weather went from cloudy, to rainy and cold. As challenging as it was, I felt privileged to be able to experience it all.

Claire put together a great couple days for us in Ireland. After talking through the experience we were looking for, Claire's initial itinerary was right on. She set us up with a mix of different locations and feels - got us into the heart to Cork (which exceeded expectations) and beautiful coastal villages. Great mix of hotels which were destinations themselves. Biking a greenway, exploring a rocky coast, finding small village pubs - and of course she connected us with great traditional music.

Our trip to Morocco was truly spectacular and far exceeded are already high hopes of being an epic family adventure (two parents and two boys ages 9 and 6). We typically hate trip planning and KimKim made it fun! I am actually excited to "plan" our next trip with KimKim....because, well...we don't actually have to plan it! The entire process leading up to the trip was wonderful, organized, and very well thought-out. I truly cannot imagine planning another international family adventure without KimKim's help!

Once the trip began we were taken care of by OriginalTravels (the travel agency KimKim worked with in Morocco). Even though I had planned and helped setup the trip, I was very excited to learn that we had a guide/driver (Tarik) to help us at every moment of our adventure. Tarik made the trip truly wonderful...he was energetic, knowledgable, fun and thoughtful. Plus, Tarik's driving skills are unmatched! We were in such safe hands. Also, because Tarik helped us with everything (e.g. calling ahead to the hotels to make sure someone was there to greet us, answering questions, finding bathrooms along the route, etc) my husband and I got to enjoy our family and the experience, rather than stressing about navigation, or where to find kid-friendly food, etc.

As for the actual trip, it was 14 days of wonderful and I will not list everything here. However, one of the most memorable experiences (and the one place I wish we had stayed longer) was Marrakech, specifically, the night market. It was fascinating, and since we had a guide to show us around (Hanan) there was no stress wondering if we were "doing things right". The whole family loved it!

The family was lovely, so I don't want this review to take away at all from them. However, KimKim made it sound like our family would be eating and spending time with another family (and we were told that they had two young kids around the same ages as ours). However, what we actually got was a family with a 19 yro, and we were really "served" food by the family, not really chatting or spending much time together. To be honest, this felt pretty weird being served by a Moroccan family...we had really wanted to spend time with them instead. The food though was delicious!

Our guide Hanan was AMAZING! We loved her. We got to have her as our guide around the market in the morning, and as our food guide in the evening. She went with the flow with our kids, showed us the highlights, and answered all of our questions. She was just spectacular (she and Tarik as our guide/driver made the "dream team"!). I wish our kids hadn't worn out so early, or I could have walked around with Hanan all day!

Our tour guide was not my favorite (Asdean). He was very nice, but when we told him we didn't want to do certain things, he kept pushing back and ignored it. This made the tour immediately start off on the wrong foot. Also, I had not been prepared for the pressure to purchase items. Asdean took us places (like a rug seller's store) and then had us sit there and look at rugs even though we had no intention to purchase anything.

This trip was actually 6 hours, so I don't know why KimKim says 4.5 hours. Also, this is the one issue I had with the entire itinerary - driving 6 hours on the day of our flights was not a great setup for a family with two young kids. I didn't realize this at the time, but in retrospect, we should have made sure to arrive in Casablanca the day before and I wish KimKim had suggested it.

Eddie on the hidden gem food tour was very kind, intelligent and interesting. By far one of my favorite tours.

Tim in Brussels showed us more than meets the eye and gave us some great info on the history of Belgium and its capital city all while having a great smile and witty banter 👍 Loved his tour as well.

Juan in Amsterdam was the perfect guide to get me back on a bike after 10 years in a busy city. I enjoyed his tour immensely as well.

Our hotels were unique, we never had a problem with reservations. My trip went so smoothly all I had to do was enjoy! Cheers to the wonderful team at Kim Kim for making my honeymoon special in so many ways.

Australia is a wide country and we had the perfect itineary charted out thanks to Paula from kimkim. We are from India and the response time was seamless and she really helped us narrow in on best experiences that will suit our family. I will highly recommend kimkim tours for a perfect holiday!

Overall decent, with a couple of hiccups. Firstly, there were some issues booking the hotel so we ended up getting charged at the hotel, which we got refunded for. Secondly, there was an event we were not sent the tickets/confirmation email for and we were charged 50% when we asked about it. Moral of the story - keep an eye out when booking trips and make sure everything has been confirmed a couple of days prior.

Our trip was amazing great working with Alex who planned a great vacation for us. Our driver Michael was great always punctual always accommodating and a great source of information we loved all our hotels except for the Ballyseede Castle we were looking forward to staying there but their service was terrible and so was the food big disappointment on the other hand the Wilder in Dublin and Sheen Falls were amazing places to stay with amazing service and staff. The recommendation to have dinner at 35 in Kenmare should be given to all travelers it was the best dinner we had in Ireland. Good star limo service picked us up and dropped us off at the airport it was truly a good star service

It was so nice to have hotels and experiences booked before our travel.
Everything went smoothly. When there was a glitch in our schedule Christina was very helpful in finding a solution. She had great suggestions for additional sightseeing and activities.
Would definitely use KimKim travel again!

Overall, the trip was great and we enjoyed all of the activities. Bea did a great job finding great experiences. All of the experiences were unique and interesting and a great mix of city sights and drives in the countryside.

The hotels were very good except the last one in Barcelona. While it was fine, it was not the excellent experience we had in the other hotels. For one thing, one of the two elevators was broken the entire time we were there.

Wolfgang was incredibly responsive throughout our trip. Whenever an issue came up (and in a 5 week tour, this was expected) he was able to take care of it very quickly. Superlative service.

Overall our trip was great. The hotels were located centrally in the cities they were in and the rooms were nice. Our biggest disappointment were some of the tours. When we went to the vineyards in the Douro valley we expected to go
to 2 or 3 vineyards wine tasting white and red wines not a port house since we visited those in Porto. We did stop at one
to taste white port that was included but would have rather have had a wine tasting of all their wines. Our driver fortunately did ask and we were able to taste some of their wines but this was not part of the trip. The port winery we did
visit was beautiful but again would have preferred a regular wine tasting since we tasted port in Porto. On the tour to Belem I thought we would visit the Jeronimos Monastery but when we got there the guide told us of long lineups and there wouldn't be enough time to see it. If I had known that I would have done our own tour to Belem. The Sintra trip I thought we were visiting Pena Palace as well the way the description of tour was presented. The bike tour in the Algarve also didn't come as advertised as anticipated most of the tour to be along the cliffs overlooking the ocean but that part of the tour wasn't that long. I also wished we had the Evora tour earlier in the day as some of the tips the guide gave us were of no use since we were leaving the next morning. We would have done a wine tasting in the afternoon then. Overall our guides and drivers were very good .

We had an 8 day trip planned for Morocco. Our tour specialist worked with us on customization which is easily the best feature on here (good expectation for a premium service). My preference is typically to book as much myself (for example hotels). We also had days where we did not need a driver or guide. So they worked with us on rest of the details. Our guide and driver Samir was great in coordinating daily activities, logistics of driving, and making us comfortable every day. Great experience. Highly recommend the service if you are looking to customize your trip planning process.
Morocco is a beautiful and amazing country!

Ivo from Zagreb to Split took us to a wonderful restaurant to eat meats under the bell after the excellent visit to the blue lagoons and waterfalls of split national park.
@Split ivana was wonderful. The hotel well located.

@ Hvar The hotel Adriana was very well located with beautiful view and short walk from ferry port. Thea was very energetic!
Grgo @Hvar was amazing 🤩 . The wine tasting at the family cave the best, followed by over the top lunch at a country restaurant!

@ Korcula the apart hotel location was too far from the historic sites even though view was amazing and laundry available. Breakfast was good but inconveniently far.
Neda was very effective and the water taxi hop on / hop off should be included in all itineraries.

Angela did an amazing job organizing an amazing trip. She helped with everything we needed and more. We loved everything she had planned for us and the schedule was organized and easy to use. Definitely recommend.

An incredible and authentic experience!!! One of our favorite memories of our trip.

My trip to Portugal was amazing, Helena worked with me and my friend planning exactly what we wanted. It was reassuring to know that everything was basically taken care of (ex. hotels, train tickets, guides, drivers etc.). When we arrived in Porto we had drivers pick us up and all was easy to find. We had a guide of Porto on day two (I think her name was Helena/Elena?). Very good tour guide, well versed on the areas and she introduced us to the shop Manteigaria (custard tarts) which were amazing and we ate them every day. We also had a driver/guide (Carlos) to take us to towns outside of Porto, which were nice to see. We then went to Lisbon and really enjoyed it there. Alex was our guide and took us for a walking tour of the city. We then had a guide/driver (I think the company was called The Worst Tours and our guide was named Marta?) and we went outside of Liston to Sintra and Cascais which were really beautiful! Definitely recommend that excursion to those areas. After a few days in Lisbon we then ventured down to Lagos via two trains from Lisbon. I cannot say enough good things about the Cascades Wellness Resort. The staff were very helpful and really nice and the restaurants and pools on site were amazing. You really don't even have to leave the resort. All 3 hotels were great on the trip but Cascades topped it. Overall I would say this was a 5/5 star trip!!
