After an initial few hiccups with getting going, the experience with kimkim has been very pleasing. The quality of the accommodation choices were in line with expectations, which was not a bad thing as we tend to have high expectations! However the star of the show was your instructions guide as that made our road trip through Iceland a piece of cake! Preeti and importantly Halldor were extremely helpful in getting our bookings together especially when we wanted changes on the fly while in Iceland and that was greatly appreciated. Overall it was a positive experience!

Zac makes the trip even more enjoyable he is great tour guides full knowledge of the sites and plannings the trip in perfect timing. And our drive also did a great job.

Least memorable - Travelling far North, Delft Island, 3 safaris (1 is enough)- we saw more wild animals roadside,
Travelled the full length of the country (mostly 70km limit) & return in 22 days.
We probably tried to fit a little too much in so would have liked less temples & more down time esp at the beach.

Best coffee experience - not cheap but worth it!

The private tour we had in Oslo was great, the one in Bergen not as knowledgeable. Could have had some more knowledge on how to get on and off the cruise on check in times for luggage when we need to be out of cabin.

More guidance on good side of the bus for views, more detail on how the nutshell bus works. That sort of thing.

We loved our trip planned by Preeti and KimKim. All of the day-by-day instructions were extremely helpful in navigating and getting to where we needed to be on time. Thank you so much for suggesting that the Price family go up to the lighthouse at Gardur. We met the funniest gentleman manning the lighthouse coffee shop and spend a good deal of time listening to his stories.
We weren't sure we would enjoy all of the driving along the South coast, but when we were done, we really appreciated all of the beautiful sights that we saw and were glad we did it. Everyone seemed to have a different favorite experience. Our 15 year old loved the ice cave tour with Katlatrack Adventure Tours. David was an awesome guide and great story teller. It was well worth it.
The adults enjoyed the secret lagoon. The teenagers were a little put off by the open showers, but they managed. We only spent about an hour there. The dinner at the tomato farm was liked by all of us. We all really liked the waterfalls on the first day of our trip and the Lava Tube tour was voted by the teens as most underrated tour.
Everyone loved the black-sands beach in Vik. It was very crowded but not too hard to find a place for a photo without other in the shot. The drive from Vik to Gerdi was amazing in places with the cliffs and fascinating topography,
My favorite thing was sitting on the porch of our cottage at Hesthmier Cottages and looking out over the valley at the horses and other animals. That hotel was a favorite for its location and views. It was clean and well managed. The owners were very friendly and proud of their place.
The Glacier lagoon and diamond beach were also a big hit with the teenagers. We had a lot of fun taking photos there. Unfortunately we arrived after the bathrooms were closed, so that was an issue.
The falls at Guilfoss were incredible and a must-see. We didn't get to see the Geysir because we were running low on time. We liked the national park, but the kids were tired and we had to walk quickly in order to get to our dive between the continents. For several members of our group that dive was by far the favorite thing of the trip. They loved the team at Dive.Is.
We spent some time walking around Reykjavik, but did not really enjoy the Puffin tour. We really couldn't see them since they are so small. It wasn't a long tour and the people giving the tour were wonderful, it just wasn't our thing. On the last day we really only had time to go to the Blue Lagoon. We all loved it and had fun getting face masked and laying around in the water. We had lunch at the sit-down restaurant which was fine, but very slow. We ultimately had to cancel our desserts and rush out to get to the airport.
Final thoughts: we loved the trip and would definitely recommend KimKim to anyone planning on traveling to Iceland. Our only suggestion would be that our daily plans really didn't seem to allow enough time to enjoy the stops and we ended up having to cut some stops out of our day simply because we ran out of time. The crowds at some of the places may have played a part in that and limited parking and walking areas at some of the stops made our time there longer.

I've been traveling for 20 years on international trips and Alexandra was by far the best guide i've ever encountered. Her ability to interact with myself and my daughter was wonderful as she relayed to us the customs of local people and the influence of Inca culture. Her ability to recant history and it's influence on previous cultures and current live styles of those who choose a modern path along with those who desire to live an indigenous lifestyle of the past. She was funny, engaging, caring, recommending places to eat and sites to see later when the guided tours were over enhanced out time substantially. We were disappointed with the service from Kim Kim. The Nærøyfjord fjord itinerary that Ingrid chose for us routed us through the same fjord three times: Flam to Balestrand, then Balestrand to Flam, and then the first hour of the Nærøyfjord “tour” was through the same area for the third time. You called it a tour, but it wasn’t: there was no commentary or information given during the Nærøyfjord trip. On the Norled boats between Flam and Balestrand, there were announcements about towns we were passing, and they steered the boat close to various waterfalls along the way so we could get a view. On the Nærøyfjord boat there was nothing like that- we just passed scenery we had already seen (twice), then went around the corner, then got dropped off.

Then came the stop in Gudvangen. In the itinerary it says, “Map of bus stop will be provided,” but you did not provide a map. The instructions said to catch the NX450 bus and pay the driver. There was a sign near the boat dock that said “public buses,” but a man in the ticket office said we needed to go to the main road. In the pouring rain, I went to the bus stop on the street, but it didn’t have the Skyss logo or the NX450 schedule on it, so I walked back to the dock area. Worried that we would miss the bus on the main road if it came by, we took our bags to the road, in the rain. Then the bus came, and many people had advance tickets and got on (why didn’t you book us advance tickets?). The bus driver told us the bus was full, so we dragged our bags back to the dock area- still in the rain- and waited there. The next bus came well before its departure time, so we were able to talk to the driver. We finally knew for certain when we would be leaving, so we could relax and have some dinner.

When I mentioned this to Ingrid, she said, "I was honestly not aware that there would be a chance that it would be fully booked on the bus. " Of course there's a chance: if enough people show up.

The whole reason we booked through your service was because we didn’t want to book things ourselves and end up standing in the rain, not knowing where to go next. And yet, that’s exactly where we found ourselves, after paying Kim Kim a large sum of money. It was frustrating to go through that, when it could have been avoided through advance bus tickets or putting us on different transport.

We have a note for you regarding the Gone Paddling tour in Balestrand, as well. The weather was predicted to be rainy and cold the morning of our kayaking trip, and I called them about switching to their 3pm tour, but it wasn’t running that day. We went ahead and took the morning tour, and Gone Paddling had dry suits for protection against the rain. However, they didn’t offer any sort of gloves or headwear, like a hat or hood. You didn’t mention that we should bring a hood and gloves, and neither does their website. The dry suit kept us dry at first, but as we continued paddling in the rain, my wife in particular got very cold and needed to return to shore. I recommend mentioning to future clients that they need to bring their own gear in case of rain, besides the dry suit, and we’ve mentioned it to Gone Paddling, too.

Overall, we booked with you to make the logistics of our trip go smoothly. In the end, there were more bumps than we expected.

Dear Kenneth,

I am sorry that parts of the the Norway experience was not quite you expected. Since you specifically wanted to go to Nærøyfjord, we planned it in the only way that was possible, and unfortunately the experience was also shortened and this did not allow for us to take you via another route out!

The weather did not help as well, and I can understand the difficulty you must have faced going to and forth to get to the bus, which unfortunately was full. We can assure you that this was not intentional, and we have never faced a full bus situation before, so this is quite unusual and unexpected. We have certainly learned from this!

Sorry that the Voss to Bergen train journey did not impress either, this is usually considered a particular spectacular train journey in Norway.

Regardless, I sincerly apologise for any failures on my part, and would like to assure you that this is not intentional.

I also thank you for making the effort to pen down some constructive criticism, which I really value, and will help make each trip that I support better in the future.

Take care and I wish you all the best!

The accommodation varied: self-catering cabins (with sauna's) and hotels which were clean and comfortable and in great locations. It was easy to pick up food supplies (snacks, breakfast food) along the way. My partner's need for gluten-free food was NO problem at all in Finland and Norway. Everything is labelled. Our 2 guides, John in Bergen and Yunelene? [that will not be the spelling of her name!] in Fjaerland for the Mundal Valley hike were a highlight for us. They were each knowledgeable about their area and shared their knowledge and something of themselves as we walked these 2 very different places together.
Balestrand and Fjaerland were our favourite places to be. The scenery, the friendliness of the people and the peacefulness made it such a special time. When we arrived from there to Flam with its rushing crowds of people we were reminded of how lucky we had been to stay in Balestrand.
