Our local specialist, Èric, planned our itinerary beautifully. We didn't realize we planned our trip for one of the busiest times of year to come to Iceland, but he was able to shift our itinerary around and find excellent hotels so we were able to get a sample of everything the country has to offer. Planning with kimkim was such a great decision, we were able to leave the itinerary planning to the experts and had a wealth of information for what to do each day as we drove from place to place. The perfect balance of having the days planned, while still having time to wander and explore between destinations.

We traveled to Buenos Aries and stayed at a Krista boutique hotel. We explored the city with a private tour guide (Jessica) who was amazing and very knowledgeable about the history of Buenos Aries. While we were there we also saw an excellent Tango show.
From there we traveled to Bariloche and stayed at an older hotel Tirol with perfect views, great walking distance to downtown, and a great breakfast! We skied at Cerro Cathedral, which was very crowded and I would recommend getting the priority lift pass to not spend a lot of time in line. Our guide Nestor was great! He was very accommodating and easygoing!
Our next stop was Wine County, Our hotel Casa de Uco was fantastic and we wish we got to spend more time there. Our guide for the wine tours Tessa was great and very helpful when sending wine home.

ALL of our drivers/ guides from Signature Tour were amazing and we would not have gotten around Argentina without them!

We would use Kim Kim and Francesca again!

For example, when a cancelled flight at the outset of the trip forced us to change some of our planned activities, he moved things around to make it work. We were able to get hard-to-secure tickets to the Anne Frank museum, and we had the pleasure of having tremendous, friendly, and fun guides for four of the activities. We weren't sure what to expect as this was our first full Kim Kim itinerary, but we couldn't have been happier with the trip.

My traveling companion is staying in Brazil for a few weeks, and he's looking forward to hanging out with another guide, Pedro, to surf.

One of the best things about a service like kimkim is that all the little details are taken care of. It was so nice to know that someone else was checking us into our flights, and a car would be waiting to take us to the airport and pick us up. Chadya and her team were also available to answer questions or resolve any minor hiccups, which was a relief in a country where we didn't speak the language.

Overall, this was our second time using kimkim, and this time did not disappoint. We look forward to using kimkim again in the future!!

This hotel was nice and comfortable -- a good stop on either side of visiting the Amazon. The pool was relaxing. I would happily stay here again if I happened to be in Manaus. This jungle lodge is really amazing. Way out in the middle of nowhere, you really feel like you get an authentic experience. The lodge is nice, but rustic, which is a great break from the rest of the world. All of our excursions were fantastic -- I got to hold a sloth!! I loved floating in the river "pool." The food was really good (even better than I was expecting). It also was very enjoyable to meet tourists from all over the world all hanging out in the Amazon.

Authenticity & Character
This lodge forces you into nature -- with no A/C or TVs, you are in an authentic environment that allows you to focus on where you are.
Location
The location is gorgeous and idyllic, full of wildlife and nature. You really feel like you are getting the Amazonian experience.
Staff
Everyone was kind and helpful. Our guide, Nelson, was outstanding.
Cleanliness & Comfort
Everything was very clean and well taken care of, but there is (understandably!) no A/C, so it's not the world's most comfortable environs. But it is authentic! I recommend bringing a portable personal fan.

I absolutely loved Hurricane Jeri! The hotel is beautiful, lush and green. The staff was incredibly helpful, setting up a WhatsApp to provide tips and services. Breakfast was good, the pool was nice. And the location is wonderful -- a tiny bit away from the bustle of "downtown," but you're there in 5 minutes.

Authenticity & Character
The hotel is very green and natural, fitting into the setting beautifully.
Location
I loved being right on the beach. Compared to other hotels this is a bit further away, but still very close to all the restaurants and shops.
Staff
Everyone was very helpful, including Victoria making dinner reservations for us for our anniversary.
Cleanliness & Comfort

We had an outstanding tour of Provence and are very pleased with everything involved in the planning, preparation, and execution of our tour. I was a bit skeptical when we first began discussing a tour with KimKim however none of my early concerns developed into anything at all. Amandine and KimKim delivered each and every time.
Some notes for future travellers: a) don't hesitate to be as specific as possible with your coordinator. We were very pleased to receive a ground floor room in one location that did not have an elevator (mattered for us). We enjoyed our accommodations very much however next time we might include a longer wish list when it comes to hotel amenities. For example in one hotel the room was a bit small, however the hotel location was excellent (and we did not expressly request a large room). Think about where you want to be located. We absolutely loved our Avignon location (la damoiselle) - a beautiful guest house in the old town (Lisa was so wonderful).
b) don't hesitate to be clear about your day trips/excursions/etc. We had a few tours with Ala Francaise and they were very professional. Special thanks and kudos go out to Flo (Florine) who took us on our Wine Tour to Chateauneuf du Pape (out of Avignon), and to Lucille (sp?) who came up to Arles to give us a fantastic walking tour of Arles (finished with a great Cheese and Wine tasting too!). There was one, small, bit of confusion around our Gourmet Walking Tour in Arles. We expected it to be a walking tour of multiple local food spots, however our guide's plan was more of a historical walking tour with a main stop at the end for the Cheese Tasting and wine sampling. This was an excellent tour and our guide was super accommodating at every step, however the initial confusion was an unnecessary hiccup.
Massive highlights: Most of our tours were amazing however our Culinary Cooking Class Day was the best. Gilles (from Provence Gourmet) was tremendous. This day exceeded our expectations at every level. Not only did we love the market walk, but we just had to stop at a local winery in order to have the correct pairing(s) for our food production to follow!!! Gilles was a great Teacher/Chef! He was patient and clear with all instructions and we couldn't have imagined a better day. Merci Gilles!
In summary, we were so pleased with KimKim (and Amandine's assistance). To have all of our logistics taken care of (trains, hotels, tours, etc) made our 7 day Provence tour so much easier. We will totally contact KimKim ahead of our next European adventure. Santé!

An afternoon in Châteauneuf du Pape
An afternoon in Châteauneuf du Pape
Avignon

Flo was an excellent guide. His English skills were excellent and he provided great commentary on our drive through the countryside (the region, History and Architecture of Avignon, etc.) as we made our way to our first winery. We visited two wineries (Chateau Maucoil - in the northwest corner of Chateauneuf du Pape; and Maison Bouachon in the village of Chateauneuf du Pape). The Chateau Maucoil stop was by far the best. We had 6 tastings and the hostess was wonderful taking us through the Chateau's different vintages and discussing the difference in terroir in their various fields. She did a wonderful job sharing information about the appellation of Chateauneuf du Pape and the 13 different grape varietals used in this region of Provence. It was very interesting to learn about the different soil types in CNP as they were much different than in other wine regions we had visited. Highly recommend this stop. Our second stop was a bit disappointing. The hostess at Maison Bouachon was wonderful however this stop was more about 'how to taste wine' and less about the various vintages of this winery. We only had 3 tastings and it was disappointing after the great visit to Chateau Maucoil. It is a great stop for someone who wanted to learn about tasting wine but for anyone who has visited multiple wineries previously it was a bit disappointing in the limited number of tastings. Their winery facility was impeccable but it felt like a showroom visit more than a winery tasting tour. Perhaps if it was our first stop I would not be so critical but it was not nearly as good a stop as CM. Before returning to Avignon Flo (our guide) took us to a wonderful historic monument overlooking of the town and appellation. We had a great view of the Rhone Valley (with Avignon in the distance) and it was fun to stop and take some photos of the Valley and river rolling by.

This was the best!!!! Gilles was an excellent Chef/Host and he made the day a wonderful one. We started with a conversation with Gilles about the kind of Provencal meal we were hoping to make. Gilles provided a few great options and together (with the one other couple) we selected a Sea Bass meal. Gilles then took us to two different markets in Aix, a famous Aix bakery, as well as a quick stop at a local grocer where he picked up a couple of other items for our meal. Prior to arriving at his house (where we were going to cook) we stopped at a local winery so we could taste some wine and choose appropriate wine for our meal!!!! This was both unexpected and fantastic. We had a chance to sample some wines from Chateau Henri Bonnaud and ended up choosing a White and a Rosé to take with us for our meal. Chateau Henri Bonnaud was a great stop. The staff were very clear and provided some great background on the winery, the terroir, and the appellation as a whole. Gilles took us through every aspect of the preparation of our meal. He was patient and a great Chef/Teacher getting us to assist with each and every part of our three course meal. His home was wonderful and provided a spacious place for us to work and learn together. It was a massive success and a true highlight of our week in Provence.

Half Day Cassis Trip
Half Day Cassis Trip
Aix-en-Provence

We enjoyed our Cassis half day tour very much. I think it could have been even better if we had a little longer time in Cassis but that is on us and our planning. Our guide Guillaume picked us up and drove us out from Aix to Cassis (about 30 minutes). Guillaume was very nice and answered all of our questions. He wasn't as talkative about the region's history, geography, etc. as we might have liked but he was very pleasant and professional at all times. Our first stop was at Cap Canaille high above Cassis. We were able to jump our and grab some amazing photos with tremendous vistas along the coastline. This stop was between 10 and 15 minutes so don't expect a long hike on the trails but rather a quick stop to enjoy the great views before heading down into Cassis. In Cassis we went directly to the harbour area where we were encouraged to take the 'short boat tour' of the Calanques. This tour was approx. 45 minutes and cost approx. 16 Euros per adult. Thankfully a boat was loading and departing right away so off we went on a small'ish tourist boat (mostly open air with a covered section mid-ship) to exit the harbour. Our time in Cassis would only be approximately 2 hours so it was important (if we wanted to take a boat tour of the Calanques) that we go straight to the ticket office and get on the first possible boat. Our Captain narrated most of the way (in French and in English) telling us that we would visit 3 Calanques along the shoreline. We really like being on the water so it was a great way to see the Calanques without having to exert any excercise whatsoever. After entering and exiting three different Calanques (inlets/skinny harbours surrounded by vertical cliff walls) we worked our way back to the harbour. From there we still had about 60-90 minutes for a walking stroll through Cassis (really just around the harbour and the large square at the harbour). Thankfully there was a great market taking place and so it was fun to compare the market to others we've seen and to browse the many artisan displays. I would say our Half Day in Cassis was really more of a 'Quick Tour of Cassis Harbour and the Calanques'. No doubt you can book a full day and this might be something I'd recommend if you really wanted to check out the small seaside village in more depth. If you're interested in seeing the Calanques from the water (and not hiking them - which may take a number of hours) then this is a great way to accomplish that. Our tour guide was nice and very professional however he was more of a Taxi Driver on this tour. We thought he could have been much more informative during our drive (and he did answer all questions as best he could) and possibly the tour operator could arrange for a more private boat trip as well (cost?) but that might be prohibitive (?). All in all we did have a nice half day. We saw the Calanques and enjoyed a brief visit to Cassis. We were back in Aix by 1:00 pm and were able to have a free afternoon to explore.

Gourmet tour of Arles
Gourmet tour of Arles
Arles

While this ended up being a great tour we think it is poorly named. The tour ended up being more of a Historical Tour of Arles (with a Cheese tasting + wine at the end). Our guide - Lucille (?) - was fantastic! When we first met and she outlined the plan for our walking tour we shared our questions (we thought it would be a walking food tour like we had done in other places - tour markets/small shops where we would try local cuisine, etc.) as it seemed we had different ideas about what was expected. Lucille was great - she immediately adjusted her plan and started us off with a short walk to a Patisserie that she really liked. There she gave us a chance to order some local food and she talked about some of her local favourites (including some history of Provencal bread - Fougasse). We proceeded to wander around Arles with the occasional stop along the way (in the Park to finish our coffee and snacks) to see historical monuments/ruins/etc. around the town. Highlights were stopping in to see the Roman Amphitheatre (sadly closed to foot traffic but you got a great look), Coliseum (excellent stop), and a couple of stops at places made famous by Vincent Van Gogh's 2 year stint in Arles (Yellow café and the Hotel Dieu). Throughout our walk we learned about the history and evolution of Arles. We also had a nice stop at a local Nougat shop and tried out a variety of Provencal nougats - they were really good. The culmination of our walk was a stop at Les Fromagères (Women Cheesemakers). There we were treated to a Cheese Tasting of at least six different styles of local Provencal cheese. Naturally we were offered some Provencal wine to accompany this tasting!!! It was fun to try different cheeses from very fresh (soft) options to one that was infused with a Pesto 'sauce'. Yummy!

After nine days with family and friends in Stavanger we took the ferry to Bergen, which is a lovely trip. The cable ride, Hardangerfjord trips were wonderful. Our hotels were very adequate with sumptuous breakfasts each morning. Since this was the tourist season it was no surprise that there were not enough buses in Voss to take us to Gudvangen. We were lucky to get the last two seats that two men vacated for us. The scenery on our fjord boat trip took our breaths away. And, the Flam train trip took us through some of the most majestic scenery I have ever seen. Moving our luggage on this train was difficult but we had help from other passengers. Unless travelers are interested in souvenir shops, we found the 3+ hour layover in Flam too long. All in all, KimKim put together a trip that covered a lot of territory and wonderful scenery. Thank you, KimKim and Ezdi.

True to its description of a viking inspired hotel, there was a reindeer skin on the bed. We were also surrounded by wonderful scenery. Breakfast was delicious, including batter provided for making waffles. We opted for dinner in the Seafood restaurant which included fish soup and salmon. Both were very well prepared and delicious. The hotel is just a few steps from the boats which cruise along the fjords.

Our most upscale restaurant on our trip. Rooms were comfortable and clean with a few more amenities, i.e. minibar, etc. however, the restaurant was at least a 4 star with delicious meals. We had pasta and pesto which was incredibility delicious and the superior salmon from Soti was the very best salmon dinner I have ever had anywhere and that includes the Pacific Northwest. Should be on anyone's list of places to dine in Bergen. Close the to the airport bus, we elected to take a taxi to save time and cost approximately 470 NOK or about $47 US.

Amazing hotel to be based to explore the area. The hotel is the closest to Rincon de la Vieja volcano which was our goal. What we didn't realize was that the hotel itself has so many waterfalls, and hiking trails to explore. Our favorite was the Orenpendola Waterfall, which is a huge fall that drops into amazing clear turquoise water!! The kids loved the hike down with the hanging bridges and cool water! The only downside of the hotel is that the food gets a bit repetitive after 3 days. While there are 3 restaurants, they are all from the same kitchen.

Amazing location, you are almost in the center of Tamarindo, and can pretty much walk everywhere. The hotel itself has some updated rooms, and some older rooms, see if you can get a room with the renovations. My only complaint is that. they need to spray the dinning area for bugs. You can't really lounge in the bar area without being eaten alive by the mosquitos.

My 8 year old needed to see a Toucan before he left Costa Rica. Given we didn't see one in the wild, we decided to visit Diamante on our last day. Well his wish came true! We saw 4 toucans! And what was even more amazing was seeing the sloths up close! We've seen a couple of the sloths before in the wild, and they were always just in the distance, but here at Diamante, at the feeding time, the sloths are actually moving - it was amazing. There was also a jungle gym obstical course that my son went on multiple times, so all in all a good day.

This was our first trip using KimKim. I started with Yuri planning one leg of our trip to Spain, and he was so helpful, we expanded to the entire itinerary. Yuri was so helpful all along the planning process! It was wonderful to actually talk with him on conference calls, and he was responsive to all our quick questions via chat. We had a difficult group with different interests and ages, and he was able to advise and tailor our days to please everyone! Every city was a highlight, and even the rail travel in between! We covered a lot of territory in 3 weeks. Started in Barcelona (5 days - not enough time!), train to Valencia (3 days - not enough time!), train to Madrid (4 days - not long enough), train to Cordoba (1 night - I'd recommend a minimum of 4 days!), picked up a car and drove Andalucia. Cordoba to Granada (2 nights) drove to Malaga via Nerja (2 nights), drove to Sevilla via Ronda, Seville 2 nights.

Every guide we had along the way was amazing! We particularly LOVED our evening tour of Medieval Barcelona was fantastic and we kept coming back to this area. My private tour of the Picasso museum with Montserrat informed my entire Picasso pilgrimage as we traveled around Spain. I wish we had booked guided Gaudi tours, as we fumbled along ourselves and walked SO MUCH to cover all the best locations in Barcelona (which is impossible.) I would skip the Barcelona Sailing Experience Sunset Cruise next time. It was expensive and we were trapped on the boat with a couple who drank all the Cava! Coming back here many times! Stunning place with an expansive, joyful vibe and art, art, art everywhere!

We booked our own AirB&B accommodation throughout, and Yuri checked it all for us. He advised us against the place we booked in Valencia because of the location, and we wished we had taken his advice. The Valencia Old Town Tour with Wine and Tapas in 11th C Historic Monument with Emma was a highlight of the whole trip. Planning to return here in 2 years for the Falles festival. We need much more time in and around Valencia!

We need to come back to explore the amazing city park and the Arts and Science buildings. Could spend a whole day there! The only activity I wouldn't do again was the Las Cuevas de San Jose river tour out of Valencia. When we booked it looked like this was a guided kayak trip, but it wasn't. It was very crowded and a long bus trip from Valencia.

The first class train trip to Madrid was worth it! Madrid is an incredible city, and you need a lot of time to explore. We had a private guide pick us up at the station and drive us around Madrid to get oriented. It was a good way to start, although it was a bit claustrophobic in his mini-van. Absolutely LOVED the small group tour of the Prado with Arantxa (Chefarantxalamas) and our lunch in the oldest restaurant in Madrid. Arantxa taught us so much about the food culture of Spain! The Reina Sofia was also a must, but I need more time and a guide!

Cordoba has the oldest cultural history - our guide was wonderful, and he recommended the Patio festival every year. We will go! The Cathedral Mosque at Cordoba was by far my favorite historical site. We went twice. Take a guide! Need more time here! We missed the castle Almodovar del Rio outside Cordoba because we found our favorite restaurant and stayed til closing time, La Viuda .

Granada was spectacular. Our guide, Pedro, was our favorite person of the whole trip. He even knew Yuri! He took us everywhere, was thoughtful, and knowledgeable and even found some cold medicine for one of our party! He delivered us traditional pastries baked by a friend of his the next day! We had the best day in the Alhambra and evening of traditional food. PS. I would not attempt to drive in Granada again!

Nerja - fantastic beach-side barbeque. Malaga... not enough time. Great shopping. El Pimpi!

Ronda - stay a night here.

Seville. What a romantic city! We had an amazing apartment on Don Jaun's plaza. So much to see here. Loved the Real Jardin. Loved the sunset river cruise. We were very tired here and it was getting hot (mid-June and very crowded) so we wandered the city early morning and late afternoons. Will be back here, too.

Yuri and KimKim activities where amazing. We moved a couple of activities, cancelled a couple and yuri helped with that and we did get refunds. My guidelines for our next trip. A minimum of 3 days in any city is necessary. Travel by train. Splurge on private guides with a dinner option as soon as you get to a new place, because they will share local knowledge and help plan out the rest of the trip, between activities. One activity a day is plenty! Take your KimKim guildes advice! They really do know so much about the places you will go.

Don't hesitate! I'll be using KimKim for my future trips.

Thank you so much, Yuri! We love you!

Highly recommended as the first Picasso guided tour you do. The Picasso Museum is incredible. I learned SO much, and Montserrat, my guide, shared a lot about Spanish culture during Picasso's time and now. We also went to a Sunday morning service in Santa Maria cathedral in English.

Valencia

Our favorite activity. This is a start-up business with young people passionate about Valencia and traditional food and wine. We LOVED Emma, our tour guide, and the 10-course tapas tasting menu was incredible. This was a small group of 12 people and the dining experience enabled us to have good conversations with them all.

Quality of Experience
Food and wine were outstanding.

Caves of San José Day Trip

The only activity I wouldn't recommend. We loved the location and the history of the caves, but we thought it was a kayaking tour, not a row boat tour. It was a lengthy bus ride from Valencia. The tour itself was crowded, and the caves were lit with colored lights, which was a bit "cheesy."

This was a big-bus tour. We were handed over to the River Boat guides, who did not speak english.

Andres, our guide, picked us up at the station and drove us around Madrid. We got out several times. I wish we had bought tickets to the bullfights that night. It was a little cramped in the mini-van, with our group of 4 and the guide. We were not able to go to the bathroom for hours!

Pedro was our most favorite guide. He is a young guy starting up his own guide business, and he is amazing. So thoughtful, local knowledge and history. We spent all afternoon and evening with him. He had special touches like home made pastries and helped when one of our party was getting a cold. He took us out to dinner later that night and we had an incredible experience on our tapas crawl! We will go back to Granada and hire Pedro again. It was also good to know that Pedro had met Yuri, our KimKim person.
