I encourage anyone that is traveling to be proactive on your own behalf and not expect a travel agent to make all the decisions regarding where you'll go and when. The more input you provide about your interests and preferences the better your trip will be. Rita arranged several tours for us. Sintra is a good side trip that included Cascais, a thriving little beach town (also a short train ride away) . We had a private 3 hour walking tour of the city that really added to our
background info and enjoyment of the city. The history of the small country of Portugal is amazing. We went to
St Jorge's castle on our own, Time Out Food Market was a big food hall; skip it. Pick a nice sidewalk cafe instead.

We tweeked little things along the way, such as the timing for our stay at Nazare, Rita was great at responding and facilitating that. Don't miss Porto & Gaia; our group loved the smaller city and Duoro River region.

The customs process for international travelers arriving in Lisbon is messy if several planes arrive at the same time.
Global Entry doesn't do a thing for you in Europe; it's only for the U.S. entry. Unless you have a new electronic chip passport, be prepared for long lines. I'm getting one this year even though my passport is good for two more years. The airport pick up & transport system is also convoluted with a long walk to the pick up area.
Once we were in the hotel it was beautiful. I'd return to the scenic, not-too-large country and its welcoming people.

We toured Sintra on a Monday. It was a busy place! Perhaps it's just the way it is in Portugal right now because it's a great tourist destination but we were also told tat Mondays can be busy because some museums places in Lisbon are closed on Mondays. We had a short and interesting walking tour around Sintra then did more driving around the area. I would have appreciated going into the large palace that dominated the central square in Sintra or any other large building in the town but we moved on. We did go to an amazing place outside Sintra called Montserrate with a colorful history and chain of ownership, had a simple meaty Barbeque lunch at a Refugio Biciclet on top of a mountain overlooking the area and circled back toward Lisbon along the coastline stopping at the Roca and Cascais along the way. Manu, our guide, was well infirmed about the places we visited and history of his country. He made things interesting.

Quality of Experience
I think our guide may have added te Roca stop to the drive back because Sintra itself was crowded. He wanted to ensure our satisfaction with the experience. We truly appreciated that.

Manu really wanted us to enjoy the tour and get a lot out of it.

Our walking tour was very interesting. Our guide Rita provided a lot of background and navigated us around the center of Lisbon and the hilly streets. We sampled some local specialties such as Castro's custard tarts and ginjen, a local cherry liquor ( be sure to order it with the cherries in your shot) while we walked. When te tour was completed she gave us a dinner suggestion for a local restaurant down a side street that had the best roasted spit chicken you could ask for.

The Soul of Lisbon: Fado Dinner Experience
Portugal

Food was good, we enjoyed the entertainment. The location was a well established venue. The format was two dining rooms with several Fado singers and musicians that moved from room to room every twenty minutes. This was good because you had a break for going to the restroom and servers to refresh food and drink. When the fado groups were performing they commanded the room's attention.

Quality of Experience
The setting and experience was unique to Lisbon
Food
It was all very good, made well and good portions; I didn't click 5 stars simply because "amazing" is a whole different level.

The hotel in Tamorina was interesting. I needed to pay for an upgrade which saved the day. The assigned room was tiny with poor view. The new room was excellent. In its day this hotel was probably on par with the Four Seasons. Now it is full of plastic flowers, even in our room. The hotel is very clean - good . The only poor meal we had in Italy was in the hotel's dinning room -un-edible. This hotel seems to be catering to the American bus tours now. Restaurants outside the hotel were wonderful.

Having travelled the world for many years, including South American countries, I could never have gone to Colombia without the reliable journey planning that KimKim provided. Although I had done my own research prior to the strategies, the extraordinary planning done by the specialista, Margarita Moreno, could not have been more perfect. Each day the guides were superb, caring, knowledgeable, and enjoying the time they spent with me and my granddaughter.
Bogota was a complete surprise...a huge city that I could not have navigated on my own. The visit to Egipto responded to exactly what I wanted my granddaughter to learn about. Our guide, Andrea Morita was fantastic as we went to Monserratre and found a restaurant that should have a Michelin rating. The day with her at the Museo de Oro and Museo Botero showed that she knew the history of indigenous artwork and the life and purpose of Botero as an artist and philanthropist . Our excellent guide for Las Amazonas, Claudio Gutierrez, was fantastic. There are not enough words to describe his keen attention to us and constantly pointing out things we should see in the jungle and translating indigenous leaders conversations when our Spanish understanding was not quite enough. He gets an A++ for all that he did. Going to the indigenous sites along the Amacayacu river, like being in Paradise, will be the most memorable moments in outlives.
And Cartagena was a contrast from Leticia and everything we saw. Most tourists don't see El Pozon and Margarita's instincts were good in suggesting this region of the city. The old town is a tourist shopping center and the Misura Restaurant and the Bantu Hotel were outstanding. Our boat ride to the Islas del Rosario, with an excellent guide, was the opportunity to see birds that we did not see previously. Margarita's descriptive journey plan tells a story more about Colombia than I could ever write and I am thrilled she was so involved in making this journey so perfect for us.

We had the rental car delivered to us and drove from Zagreb to Plitvice National Park, which has more waterfalls than I thought was possible in one place. We then went to Krka park, which was also beautiful. Then we visited Zadar, Split, Hvar, a winery, and Ston, on the way to Dubrovnik. Each place was unique with a fascinating history and a beautiful and unique experience. Bruno booked us at perfectly located and comfortable hotels, a mix of mostly 4 and 5 star places. He arranged for walking tours with very knowledgeable guides. It was great to learn about the history and also get a local’s perspective. His restaurant recommendations were all truly excellent. During the trip, Bruno was incredibly responsive, replying to my WhatsApp messages within minutes. I highly recommend Croatia and using Bruno to help plan and book it.

We let her know we were both senior citizens, we were not going to drive, and what places we definitely wanted to see. We left Los Angeles April 13 and returned May 2. Jane and her team set up hotels, train rides, tours and recommendations for other tours and restaurants. Jane and her team came up with a fantastic itinerary starting in London going to Bath (day trip to Oxford University) to York to Edinburg (day trip to Glasgow) to Stirling to Inverness and then back to London on the Caledonia Sleeper Coach Besides our own walking tours we visited Jane Austen Museum, Roman Baths, Stonehenge, Avebury, York Minster, North York Moors, Whitby, Edinburg Castle, Afternoon Tea at the Edinburgh Castle, The Scotch Whisky Experience Tour and Tasting, in Glasgow a 2 hour day tour of street art murals , Fishing Villages of St Andrews & Fife from Edinburg, St Andrews Golf Course, Stirling Castle, The Isle of Skye & Eilean Donan Castle. Our return to London from Inverness was on the Caledonia Sleeper Train. That was a great experience. something we had never done. Our last three days in London were on our own where we did London eye, St Paul's Cathedral, Windsor Castle, five hour on off London Tour.
This trip was phenomenal to see all the beautiful landscapes and countryside plus historical sites. This was a personalized tour for my wife and myself agreed upon by us and created expertly by Jane and her team. Jane is now our benchmark for other travel Planners.
This is our first time using a travel planner for a personalized tour in this fashion. We are glad we did this.

Hotel Reviews
Henrietta House, a member of Radisson Individuals
Bath

Henrietta House Bath – I give this hotel a generous 3 star because of the downstairs niceness and friendliness of staff with the exception at check in. Our room was TERRIBLE 1. Reception/Check in – The gentleman at reception upon arrival was the most unfriendly and unwelcoming individual we had met at any Hotel on this trip. He was the only one because everyone else at the hotel were very friendly and provided good service. We left our bags in the lobby area and went off to do the Jane Austen and Roman Bath tours. When we came back there was a young woman, Kosmina, who was the most friendly and welcoming at the front desk. She was simply delightful. Direct opposite of the earlier encounter with the gentleman. She gave us necessary keys for our room. 2. Service – With the exception of our first encounter at afternoon check in everyone was so friendly. 3. Room - TERRIBLE! . Very small and low ceiling. I am short but when I lifted my arm up I could touch the ceiling. There was no closet just some hooks on the wall with hangars on them. The room was at an incline. The sliding bathroom door did not shut all the way. The bathroom was the size of a postage stamp. The shower space was so tiny. Taking a shower caused such a puddle that my wife could not wash her hair for fear of flooding the bathroom. I should have asked for another room but because of the sour reception we received at check in we just lived with it for the three days. Do not know what was charged our travel company but it was not worth it because of the poor room. I am sure there must be other rooms in much better condition and bigger. 4. Location - Location was good and close to restaurants and center of town. Taxied to and from the Railway Station. 5. Breakfast – Breakfast was good and from a menu. Breakfast did not start till 8:00 am though. 6. Local restaurants – Scallop Shell was delicious and had the most delicious Fish and Chips. A Tour driver said these Scallop Shell Restaurant Fish and Chips were the very best in England. They were indeed best Fish and Chips we had on the whole trip. Clayton’s Kitchen was delicious for dinner also. 7. Hotel Recommendation – Would stay there only in a completely normal room with a larger bathroom otherwise not,

Malmaison Hotel Edinburg – This was a nice hotel. It was previously a prison at some point. Very awkward getting to our room. Had to go up or down some stairs to get to the lift. 1. Reception/Check in – Check in was fine and reception personnel were friendly and welcoming.. Room was not ready so we went to the Castle to do the Castle tour then the Afternoon Tea then the Whiskey Tasting. All three were great. 2. Service - Was excellent service throughout hotel and very friendly. 3. Room – Room was nice but a little on the small size and dimly lit. Served its purpose though 4. Location – Very good location, We walked to and from Railway Station with luggage. 5. Breakfast –Breakfast was good. Combination buffet and could order eggs, sausage and bacon, 6. Local Restaurants – Ate at the Amarone Italian Restaurant less than a block away from the hotel and on the right. Meal was quite good. Gordon Ramsey Restaurant across from the park. Very close. Food was very good 7. Hotel Recommendation - I would stay there again

Reception/Check in – What a pleasant check-in. Beth was so friendly and welcoming as was everybody we interfaced with. We saw her a couple of times and she always stopped to say hello. Room was available right away. 2. Service – Stellar service throughout the hotel 3. Room – The room was perfect. Very spacious room. Well lit. The ceilings were 5 meters high. We were on the ground floor. Could not have asked for a better room. The porter said it was previously the office of the Railway Manager. Had a beautiful large fireplace. 4. Location – Perfect. We walked with our luggage from train station to the hotel and back and were warmly greeted as we arrived. 5. Breakfast – Not only is this the number one hotel we stayed at but it is the number one breakfast. Grand York has a spectacular buffet breakfast plus you can also order specialty eggs - omlettes fried eggs etc. Service was excellent. 6. Local restaurants – 1. Cote Restaurant we happened to find after visiting York Minister. Delicious Price Fixe menu and very reasonable. We thoroughly enjoyed it. 2. Delrios Italian Restaurant was simply delicious Italian food. Concierge, Matteo, called ahead for us. They were packed and we waited about 20 minutes and had some wine at the bar while waiting. Well worth the wait. Recommend make a reservation. 7. Hotel Recommendation – I would stay there again happily

Park Plaza London Riverbank – This was a very nice hotel part of the Radisson chain. 1. Reception/Check in – Check in was very easy. Everyone was welcoming and friendly. Our room was available right away since we got there at about 1800. 2. Service – Was excellent service throughout hotel and very friendly. 3. Room – Was a nice room and comfortable. Lighting was a little dim. A lack of outlets on one side of the bed required me to use an extension cord that I always carry . 4. Location – Wonderful location. On Sunday we walked to the British Museum for a tour. 5. Breakfast – Had a very good buffet breakfast. 6. Local restaurants – We ate at the Hotel Restaurant Chino Latino. We enjoyed some delicious tapas. 7. Hotel Recommendation – I would stay there again happily

Wonderful Tour. Whitby was a charming port town. Had a delicious lunch there. Scenery on the tour was spectacular. The steam train was a nice addition. This has a bridge goign over the train tracks used in a Harry Potter movie as well as the 9 3/4 wall he comes through. If you want to see 9 3/4 wall go to Kings Crossing Railway Station in london

The Caledonian Sleeper Train (Scotland Version)
The Caledonian Sleeper Train (Scotland Version)

Caledonia Sleeper - This was an interesting experience on the twelve hour overnight train ride. 1. Passenger Assistance - Passenger Assistance was great and recommend it for seniors who are taking trains.. In Inverness the individual took us to our cabin and then I went with him to drop off luggage in another coach that had lots of space for luggage. So friendly and helpful. In London we were met right at our coach by a young woman who had a motorized style golf cart where she loaded our bags and drove us out to the exit where we then saw driver from Pinkberry. Driver was very friendly and we got to the hotel fairly quick considering traffic. 2. Caledonia Lounge _ This lounge was not in railway station but just across the street. Because of luggage we did not walk over there. It was raining a little bit too. I checked it out myself though and it was small but nice with some soft drinks and snacks. 3. Sleeping Cabin – was very small. I can see why doubles sell out so fast. We were both able to sleep in the bunk beds. I am glad we had this experience though. 4. Club Car – We went to club Car immediately upon boarding because it filled up so quickly. Breakfast was just ok. My wife had a sausage sandwich and I had a bacon sandwich. Both very small. 5. Recommendation – we would do it again but really trying to have a double.

Quality of Experience
My wife and i are not used to train rides especially 12 hour ones. It was a nice experience.

The itinerary that Paty Marques created for our group of 8 was awesome! We will not soon forget the time we spent exploring Lisbon, Porto and Lagos. Most of us had never heard of kimkim. A friend of one of our travelers had a good experience with the company, and suggested we consider using it. The takeaway from my very first phone conversation with Paty was that she’s highly confident in her ability to create itineraries consistent with the travel objectives of her clients. She listened closely to what we wanted to see and delivered a travel experience that was truly memorable. The contrast between the three areas that we visited added immeasurably to our time in Portugal. Each of the guides that Paty utilized was excellent, but Claudia in Lisbon and Lucia in Porto definitely are superstars. The Douro Valley wine tour that Lucia led was fabulous and will not soon be forgotten, in large part due to the relationships that she has forged with the families that own the two wineries that we toured. We were treated like longtime friends at both places. The lunch at Maos e Irmaos was very special. The food served was delicious and authentic to the region. All of the transfers were handled without issue. The drivers were on time and highly professional. Safe transport was clearly a top priority. Our sincere thanks to Vasco and the others.

In summary, Paty Marques is the travel coordinator that you should use if you are considering a trip to the region. You will not regret the choice.

The bus from Lima was amazing, it had these giant lazy-boy style seats and curtains for privacy/napping, which was good relaxing start to the trip. Our driver to our hotel and to the airport for the nazca lines was so great and helpful, he helped us check in and made the pre-flight process so smooth. The flight itself was not super great. The pilots really ensure that both sides of the plane get equal viewing time for each set of Nazca lines, which is really cool, but after the first 10 mins of flying over the lines (not including the first part of the flight which is just to get to the location) it was a lot. 3 out of the 4 of us felt very motion sick from the hard twists and turns of the plane! It was really cool to see, but maybe instead from the viewing platform!

The trip was one of the best I have been on - and I have visited 50 countries. I usually do organized trips with small operators. It was great to experience a customized trip for our small group. Ed did a great job helping us organize our trip and Margil was a very good driver and guide. It was great to be picked up by both at the airport. A couple of suggestions:

1. A list of activities / plan for Tirana so no double tracking on sites already visited on our own.
2. Restaurant suggestions were a bit off - especially dinner on second night - a bit far from hotel and we were taken to a restaurant for a large lunch.
3. Guide should wait more for entire group to catch up before giving information on sites.

Will recommend KimKim and Drive Albania to my traveler community.

A clearer itinerary for our time in the city would have been better so we could plan things we would do on our own.
