Kim Kim put a wonderful jam packed vacation together for us in New Zealand. We wanted to do so much in our 14 days time in the county we they were able to fit in all our requests and more. Questions and concerns were always handled quickly. With so much to do and see I would have never been able to put our itInerary together. Way to many logistics and moving parts. I love how the vacation was tailored to us. We had about 17 different activities in our 14 days and all of our reservation, transportation and accommodation went as planned. Only a few things canceled but that was due to weather and we got a full refund. Every guide we had was welcoming and professional. Big shout out to Shaun at Altitude for our trip to Milford Sound and Iveta with Cheeky Kiwi. What a wonder beautiful county New Zealand it. This was a once in a lifetime trip. Thanks to Sabin and Laurel.

It was an amazing trip. It was a very action packed trip, lots of walking, snorkeling and sight seeing. We saw such incredible nature and I felt like I got to see a great deal of what the islands had to offer. The guide Astrid was so knowledgeable, we enjoyed the Darwin museum . The entire crew of the Bonita were so amazing, hardworking, kind, people. Renny our island guide and Deanna (lovely hostess) were particularly wonderful.

We weren't able to spend much time at Toruga Bay.

We had a wonderful trip to Patagonia organized by Mery and supported by Joaquina. All transfers were always on time and we got lots of good suggestions from Joaquina about restaurants. We are looking forward to going again to Patagonia!

Positive thoughts regarding using Kimkim would be the ability to review the itinerary prior to booking.
Things needed for improvement: Utilizing travel agents with experience agents who will be knowledgeable and clear concise with the ability to take initiative in providing the client needs. For instance, if you have three travel destinations with plane changes then take the initiative to find out the appropriate luggage allowance and make suggestion on packing for trip. If the hotels are booked by the agency asking the hotel what toiletries do you provide to reduce the amount of items being brought. The agency taking the initiative to assure whatever tour company they choose to work with are on the same page as what was explained to the client. Our tours were amazing once started but there were confusion with both Cape town tour company and Zimbabwe tour company. With a great travel agency taking that extra little time to assure everything runs smoothly gives the clients an ease and the ability to enjoy their expensive vacation. Thanks.

It was a great trip to Patagonia arranged via kimkim. Jesse helped us with the itinerary planning, as well as suggested options that we could do based on our interest. She arranged for special meals that I needed. I really appreciate that. She made alternate arrangements when boxed lunch for one of our day trips was not dropped off as planned. The airport pick up/drop off and tour pick ups were very seamless, except at one place where the instructions were not provided in the itinerary to take the tour bus after the boat trip to the Glacier. We had a pick up come to our hotel in the morning so we expected to see a ride waiting for us, but no one was there, so we ended up having to Uber back to the hotel. This was a minor inconvinience. Other than that every thing was hassle free. We had a great experience. THank you for enabling us to have a memorable experience.

We really enjoyed our first trip to South Africa. Bernice was amazing to work with and super responsive throughout the entire process. The level of customer service was excellent- Bernice or her co-workers would follow up to make sure transfers were on time and that we were taken care of during our stay and even left gift packages to help us celebrate our wedding anniversary. Our trip to the winelands was amazing and the 2 lodges she picked for our safaris in Kruger National Park (pondoro and lion sands river lodge) exceeded our expectations. We will definitely use KimKim for our next trip.

We had a wonderful time. Leena was great showing us around Bangkok. She was very informative and enthusiastic about everything. She made sure we tried all of the different foods of Thailand. We really enjoyed her company. “B” was our tour guide in Chiang Mai. He also did a great job showing us around the temples and village of the Hmong tribe. We really enjoyed the half day with the elephants. That was one of our favorite excursions. Ben was our guide for the half day Phuket tour. She was also good. We could have skipped the gem factory. Wasn’t impressed with that. The speed boat ride to the Phi Phi islands was also exceptional. We are very happy we used KimKim for our trip! It was great not having to worry about excursions, transfers or drivers.

All the tour guides were VERY knowledgeable and super friendly.
We especially enjoyed the Nice part of our tour and Xavier as our guide.
Resihome in Nice was not as nice as we hoped.
Marriot was nice and the staff very friendly.
Train ride was ok. Difficult to navigate due to our large luggage and inexperience traveling on trains. Would prob prefer not to travel via train in the future.

The activities and sites we chose based on your recommendations were the right fit for us - we really enjoyed all the excursions. All the local service providers / guides were just great, helpful, very nice people, friendly and easy to chat with and happy to share information on various local topics - be it Maria at Puerto Varas for the trip to Osorno volcano, Chloe for the kayaking, the Aqua Fresca team at Punta Arenas or Nara and Andres in Puerto Natales. Last but not least, Antonia with the team from the Estancia were also amazing (and the lunch prepared there was way beyond our expectations - speaking for myself, I have never had better lamb asado!
Only the drivers taking us from/to the airports seemed not to be always quite informed that those transfers were already paid for, but we managed to explain and got this solved rather quickly.
The selection of hotels was just right as we wanted (we particularly loved the hotel Vendaval in Puerto Natales) and the overall organisation was perfect.
Indeed, our overall positive impressions from our trip were enhanced by the exceptionally good weather.

Our 8-day tour in Guatemala was wonderful. Each site we visited was beautiful, interesting, and fun. Our guide, Lukas, was patient, kind, knowledgeable, helpful, and really a fantastic person overall. The lodgings were also lovely-not fancy, but well- cared for, comfortable, and with great breakfasts! Our drivers were skilled in some difficult terrains, and all of our transitions went smoothly. Home now and smiling to think about all our great experiences!

There is absolutely not one thing we would change anything about our trip. It was absolutely perfect and all thanks to Gummi. We cannot say enough wonderful things about him. We highly recommend him and KimKim, Functioning both as our travel agent and tour guide. I interacted with him for several months. Always the epitome of professionalism. He went above and beyond to ensure our trip was perfect. As a travel agent, he worked with me to plan the ultimate adventure which was not only packed with all of the essential Icelandic sights but tailored it to our personal interests as well. We explored the Golden Circle, went dog-sledding, road Icelandic horses on the beach, explored an Ice Cave, saw seals in the wild, visited black sand and diamond beach, soaked in the secret and Blue lagoons and to top it off we saw the Northern lights. The trip was organized in way that fell seamless and efficient. He helped us with a packing list so we felt prepared to brave the Icelandic weather. . Very polite and well mannered not to mention super funny. He helped with our luggage, coats, etc. He made reservations for us at restaurants.

As a tour guide, he was not only incredibly informative (teaching us about the history, culture, geology and science of Iceland) but he was very welcoming, helping us to feel like locals instead of tourists. It was clear he knew the land and sights extremely well. You could also tell he had a passion for his Native homeland. He was super accommodating: absolutely no request was too big or small. No question was to silly for him to address. And believe me, we can be silly. I would rate Gummi a 20/10. We have been on many trips together as a group and agree he is by far the best guide/agent that we have worked with. Gummi ensured our trip to Iceland was absolutely memorable. A trip of a lifetime. We cannot wait to return to Iceland although it will be during the summer. We will definitely be using Gummi's services again in the future.

Oh my gosh, this was spectacular. We were worried we would not be able to visualize the aurora due to clouds. Fortunately a winter storm with high winds came through a cleared the clouds. Gummi was able to find them right away. We spent quite a bit of time marveling at the site. As an added bonus, Gummi was able to perform some phenomenal photography for us.

This was very fun. I am glad we went here prior to the Blue Lagoon. It is not as posh as the Blue Lagoon but still great. It was amazing to be in the Lagoon warm while snow was falling. I took water shoes. They provide towels so no need to pack extra.

Absolutely spectacular. I could tell the staff takes very good care of their dogs. They were so passionate. The dogs were so excited to be selected. They were eager to run and pull the sleds. We were able to pet them. The mushers were very professional. We had a party of 4. Each one of us was able to take turns mushing (driving the sled) although I think the dogs were actually in charge. LOL. They provided us with a jump suit which really helped keep us warm. Picture opportunities were provided. I highly recommend this activity.

The trip and itenirary were great. An, Doris Cuong, and Long were all great guides and showed us the south, central and northern parts of vietnam. The highlights were ha long bay, hoi an, the cu chi tunnels and I also recommend ba na hills.

Mathias was very prompt and helpful. The timing and service of the local contractors was excellent. Especially wonderful was the crew of the Bonita. They went beyond to be helpful and enjoyable. The land tours were great, especially the guide on the first day to Darwin Center. We especially enjoyed the chance to be "in" Puerto Ayora before the cruise, staying at a local hotel and enjoying the restaurants and local flavor. We will certainly recommend you to everyone who asks. Thank You.

A bit more spendy than I expected but lots due to traveling solo. Some of the excursions were cancelled due to weather, no one’s fault. One excursion actually encompassed what a second excursion was so cancelled that…no interest in doing it twice. The hotels were great. There was some confusion about day trip stuff or taxi not being paid so I was reimbursed after the trip. The jaguar did not last as long as indicated. I was back in 3 hours and the cooking class was only about an hour. Nothing about the Carifuna culture or drumming/dancing like I thought.

Overall the trip was fantastic. We loved that KimKim chose five different locations throughout Costa Rica that fit our interests and desires for this trip. Each location was always a nice surprise and added adventure. We were never disappointed. We appreciated that Holden, Wilman, and KimKim team were always available to help if needed. Wilman was a great help, particularly during the first few days. We had to add a day to the start of the trip due to having to fly in a day early. That caused a hitch or two for the trip plan for the first couple of days but Wilman was always there to straighten it out with us. Overall, we were very satisfied with KimKim and all persons involved. We’ve praised KimKim to many of our friends.

Trogon Lodge

San Gerardo de Dota

This was the most unusual location and surroundings of any of the hotels. Trogon Lodge is tucked away 'way down' into the valley, with roads that required some careful attention for driving (7 kilometers off Route 2 on a narrow, curve-filled drive). Nevertheless, the location was well-worth it! Note that it was cold (relatively) since it sits at roughly 7000 feet in altitude. The dining room was very nice with excellent food. and service. A beautiful river, with many waterfalls, runs directly through Trogon grounds with several trails to explore along the river. The casitas are also located such that you will follow one, two or more trails to get to your lodging. In this sense, a person with handicaps would be challenged, but could ask for a casita most closely located to necessities. Trogon Lodge is also fairly isolated, meaning no gas station or other convenience stores are within 20-30 kilometers. We didn't need them, though we had some concern about having only a quarter tank of gas. Not a problem, since the nearest gas was 31 kilometers away and well within reach. Though cold much of the day, we thoroughly enjoyed the natural setting and our stay (2 nights)!!

This hotel was a different, but enjoyable, experience. The casita was hidden away nicely with a path to breakfast readily available. The views from the restaurant were good, but not spectacular. The food was good, well prepared, and excellently served by the wait staff. Our experience was fewer opportunities to explore the mountains without going a ways out of town, though Monteverde itself was an interesting place to explore.

This was a major highlight of our time in Costa Rica. The National Park is over the top, especially given that we had a guide who was informed, informative and responsive to questions. We learned much about all manner of wildlife. In addition, our guide was a historian of Latin America providing us wonderful detail about the creation and evolution of the National Park. Included in that, of course, was information about colonialism, the United Fruit Company and the history of America Central as opposed to Central America (the latter being the history with which many of us are familiar).

This worked well. The first distance down the mountain (Route 606) was ok. The main route (Routes 1 and 324) were ok, too. Keep in mind that the infrastructure of Costa Rica is not as clearly developed as we in the US, spoiled as we are, are used to. Most of our highway routes were two lane, with a few four lanes now and then. In some cases, as when we went to Trogon Lodge, the 7 kilometers to the Lodge were very curvy and narrow. But, hey, it's part of the experience!!!

Excellent night walk!! Our guide was eager to show us all forms of frogs, snakes, birds! But the frosting on the cake was finding a Tapir (with four young ones) 'eating up the forest'. In a sense this is not applicable, since we drove to the location where the night walk started. One note - by the time the walk was over (about 3 hours) it was raining a bit and a fog had set in. Driving back to the Hideaway was a little treacherous. Fortunately, the road was busy and we were able to 'feel' our way back ok.

Amazing and fantastic, with a very helpful and entertaining crew!! This is a 12-platform zip line, one of which is a kilometer long in itself.

Quality of Experience

Guides, Drivers and Staff

All were attentive to the fact that our ages - 81 and 84 - were obvious. They were caring and helpful. We love the fact that one of the staff yelled from his platform to the next "here comes la abuela!!" (grandmother).

Transport

Transport was a wagon (open on the sides) pulled by a tractor. This took us much of the way to the first platform, but the climb was still significant beyond that.

Oscar in Cusco was great. The other guides were good and the trip was great, basically hitting all the spots we wanted in a short period of time!

Amazing trip to Argentina! Well curated by Ana, who made sure our group of 8 were well cared for. We had personalized guided tours in Buenos Aires, Mendoza and Iguazu with well informed guides. The Diplomatic Hotel was the best! Food tours and cooking classes in Buenos Aires were terrific experiences. Thanks for everything!
